That's just it I agree.
If it is being used more often the will be 50+ BTC block rewards just from transactions which is what will run the network and system through the years.

I look at it this way.
Bitcoin needs to be spent to raise it's value.  So I spend some on stuff like electricity and bits of mining gear when I can and I keep some in an offline wallet.
Bitcoins biggest value is it's usage.
If everyone holds them eventually they will devalue.
A balanced approach makes it both useful as a form of payment and as an investment.

I completely agree. It's just the volatility is extremely scary. I just can't grasp the concept of how bitcoin can become mainstream without getting a handle on volatility.

If transaction volume can surpass speculative volume, there could be some decent stability.  At least to the point that "whales" won't be able to move the markets much.  But as is often pointed out, deflationary currencies are a double edged sword.  You hate to spend them because they could go up in value significantly and thus, you don't get the transactional volume necessary to supersede speculative volume.

I would rather not be chipped thank you.
Some form of better security for your private key would be great but not to that extent.

I just want to thank you all.
Your encouragement has been great and very helpful.
I know I only seem to post here when I am in a bleak mood and I apologize for that.

Things are progressing.  In the next few weeks I will have the surgery and hopefully I will be on my way to feeling much better.

Thanks again everyone.

Your welcome.
I wish I could have done more.

If you were already using BFGMiner you should not need to reload the drivers.  Only if you had been using cgminer.
I am not sure on a mac though how to proceed.  Nate would be able to help you with that.
Sorry about that I do not have a mac to test on.

@ManeBjorn
Many thanks again!  Smiley

Did you right click on the empty part of the screen and have it do a hardware scan?
Also what software were you using with your TwinFury before you installed MultiMiner?
If it was CGMiner you need to remove the drivers for it and reinstall the new drivers that you can download from the MultiMiner webiste.
http://www.multiminerapp.com/
You should choose the Blue/RedFury drivers.
I hope this helps you.
Happy Mining.

Hello Nate,
I've just installed MultiMiner on my Mac Pro.
I don't understand why it can't see or the 6 Twinfury or the GPU: in the low right corner I can read 0 device(s).
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance

@ ManeBjorn
Thanks a lot for your interest.
Yes, I clicked for a hardware scan.
Before installing MultiMiner, I was using bfgminer with Mac OS X under Terminal: no need to install drivers for either the GPU or the Twinfury units.
Now that I've downloaded the Blue/Red Fury driver, how can I install it?
And the driver for my AMD Radeon 7950?
Consider that I'm using a Mac: so I installed Xquartz and Mono.
Thanks a lot for your attention!
1687  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Diamonds on: March 08, 2014, 07:10:18 AM
Thanks that is good info.
I am going to be taking some jewelry in for appraisal for insurance and possible sale purposes soon and I did not think about the valuation differences due to what is in style at this time or not.

Hey all. I did find some diamonds for the ring. Learned some things about them as well. Particularly about insuring them. If you have your jewelry insured you might want to check the valuation. There is a good chance you are under or over insured because the price is very volatile. One piece I had appraised at $7600 in 2011 has fallen to $5100. That drop is just due to a change in fashion away from emerald cuts. Geeze, I should have had it set with a bitcoin.
1688  Other / Off-topic / Re: Qoinpro on: March 08, 2014, 06:38:19 AM
It is odd.
Also the only way to get "credits" is via sending and SMS text and that does not work in several countries like the US.
I wonder what it is ultimately all about.
1689  Economy / Auctions / Re: OneStringMiner DIY2 auction - 60 GH/s, Bitfury based on: March 08, 2014, 03:52:00 AM
I am definitely interested in seeing how they run.
Your right once the auction winners start posting about how they are running at home it will make it much more exciting.
Great job this was well run auction.

I also have to say that I was pretty impressed with how this ran.

I have no stake in this at all, but I have an eye on this company. Seems more legit than most, but I'm reserving final judgment until the auction winners receive their hardware.
Thanks for the compliment.
And we are very legit.
The company exist since 2004 and I am involved in BTC since 2011.
But sure, wait till you get the first confirmations of receiving the hardware.

1690  Economy / Services / Re: RollerBot - Alpha testing begins soon! on: March 08, 2014, 02:35:30 AM
I am glad it is going so well.
Also glad to hear you are feeling better.
Sounds like you are really rolling along.

Today was a great day.  A lot of progress is being made on final decisions when it comes to the actual specifics behind RollerBot deployment.  I've brought aboard someone with extensive knowledge in system administration and deployment, especially when it comes to AWS.  This weekend will be a pivotal point for RollerBot as the full groundwork is put into place that will empower the scalable architecture that I dreamed for this platform.  There should be some exciting news in the coming weeks as things are nearing being ready for alpha testing.

Stay tuned Smiley

1693  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How to manage an ant army? on: March 07, 2014, 08:02:12 PM
You could use MultiMiner and run it as a stratum for them.  Then you can change pools and such right through there.
In this thread you could even get help getting it all setup.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=248173.0
I hope it helps and happy mining.
1694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 80MH/s scrypt farm on: March 07, 2014, 07:59:38 PM
I would go after LiteCoin right now.
This is a great pool it's what I use.
https://www.ltcrabbit.com/#afkun1
They are solid with a bit of merged mining bonus when other coins are worth a bit more without having to mess around.

Hi to all, I go online with scrypt farm of about 80MH / s with which pool you have the best experience

You can mine other SHA-256 coins.  Here is a good list of them to choose from.
I suggest checking exchange rates on them as well to decide what to mine.

can asic usb block eruptor be used for anything other than mining BTC? or can they scrypt as well?

Thank you.
I know I will never hit 100% again but to be able to move better and be able to be more active with my 15 month old daughter would be great.

I hope you get better OP.
1698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner Remoting & MobileMiner: Your rigs. Your coins. Your pools. Your way. on: March 07, 2014, 05:41:52 PM
Now that rocks!
I am going to DL and try this later today.  The pre-release has been running great but with this I can bump the speed back up too.
Thanks Nate.

PR2 of the BFGMiner DualMiner driver is now available for testing. There's a Windows download available here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/dqbk841frvxdsmk/bfgminer_dualminer_pr2.7z

And you can clone the feature branch here:

https://github.com/nwoolls/bfgminer/tree/feature/dualminer-support

You can now mine SHA2 and Scrypt at the same time with two BFGMiner processes by using the --dual-mode argument. You can also specify a clock frequency using --set-device, e.g.:

Code:
--set-device dualminer:clock=850

Tested on OS X and Windows so far. Thanks in advance for the feedback compadres  Grin

Finally after snow storm delays got to see my surgeon today.
I am having a double fusion.
Before they can schedule my surgery I have to have a diskography where they inject dye into the disks and take images to make sure they are getting all the bad disks and to see the extent of the bad one's damage.
I'm not looking forward to it but I am hoping for some relief from the pain and hopefully the falling and spasms.

I hope you are all doing well.

1700  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it time to shut down 1st Gen ASICs? on: March 07, 2014, 02:20:13 AM
You can always have your miner mine other alt coins that are more profitable and trade them for bitcoin on the exchanges.  That will keep it making money much longer.
I recently updated the firmware on my Gen 1 Avalon and now I am getting 84 gh/s instead of 72 gh/s.
There is still lots you can do with them.
