1681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Fengshui on: July 18, 2022, 05:33:40 AM
I'm not an expert on Fengshui, but if a casino is really arranged by the laws of Fengshui, wouldn't all the gamblers playing in that casino become lucky. If the gamblers suddenly became lucky, wouldn't the casino start losing money and eventually go bankrupt? Grin
If the casino owner is smart, he would never follow the rules of fengshui and he will do everything he can to attract luck to himself and reduce the gambler's luck. Grin I believe that fengshui is pure superstition and all this sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me.
It's true that many gamblers are superstitious and the casinos are making some changes to attract more superstitious gamblers, but I don't think that having different interior design would change your luck. At the end of the day, the casino always wins. With or without fengshui.
1682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto question! on: July 18, 2022, 05:10:40 AM
it's so I just opened up a coin base account (turned 18 a while ago) and I have been looking at the market Best Private Lenders for High Risk Personal Loans South Africa and shit is down bad, Has anyone got any advice on this? what coin should I buy and has anyone got any discord/telegram chats to join for these topics?

Why do you even care about private lenders for high risk personal loans? Do you want to borrow money from such lender? I advise you to stay away from lenders and loan companies. Other members already gave you a decent advise. Just buy BTC and HODL for the long term(and don't trust Coinbase). If you want to do day trading with leverage that's a completely different topic. Day trading doesn't seem like a good idea for a young person like you.
If you want to discuss crypto on Discord just search for cryptocurrency related Discord servers on Disboard. AFAIK, Disboard is the biggest directory for Discord servers. Watch out for scam servers, Discord is full of scammers and scam servers.
1683  Economy / Economics / Re: Avoid loan apps, a word of advice. on: July 17, 2022, 10:16:50 AM
Over the week, a friend and I had a conversation about loans and loan apps and she shared a bitter experience of how she was unable to write a very important exam because the money meant for payment of fees to qualify for that exam was deducted by a certain loan app that she collected money from a while ago.  Who will you really blame? My friend for not paying up as at when due or the loan app for not notifying her before the deduction.
In all, I advice that we should try to avoid any business with loan apps as they seem to be very numerous these days and are easily accessible. Most importantly, You should know that you are at the danger of developing a habit of borrowing from them if you patronise loan apps even for the smallest amount.

Loan sharks exist for centuries. Modern day loan sharks moved into the digital world. That was pretty much expected.
I don't know who is to blame for your friend's situation. Maybe she's guilty for using such "loan app". When you are really desperate for money and someone gives you a loan without collateral there will be hidden fees and terms for sure. Those loan sharks are searching for poor people with no financial discipline. It's really easy to fall into a trap, if you don't know what you are doing. The people, who are desperate enough to borrow money from such companies have to read the fine print on the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy.
Blaming the loan company for not sending a notification isn't serious. If you have to pay for a bank loan/mortgage would you miss the payment only because the bank didn't sent you a notification?
1684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 17, 2022, 06:18:28 AM
I was surprised to find out that Barcelona is signing Robert Lewandowski. He doesn't seem to fit the style of the Catalonian team.
Barcelona usually plays without a strong central attacker. Players like Zlatan Ibrahimovich had failed in Barcelona. Aubameyang will be facing a heavy competition and I guess that he will have to play on the flank.
Bayern getting rid of Lewandowski seems like a weird decision to me, but I guess that the Polish footballer wants to change the team, after several years in the Bavarian champion. I simply can't see Christiano Ronaldo joining Bayern. He will have to learn German. Grin
Another weird transfer was Manchester United signing with Christian Eriksen. I thought that his career is over after the Euro 2020 accident and he will keep playing in low tier teams. I guess I was wrong.

1685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's faceless identity is the greatest Bitcoin success strategy on: July 17, 2022, 05:47:02 AM

These factors of Satoshi's lawlessness have made Bitcoin stand out and become the image representing cryptocurrency today and if Satoshi is identified today I think Bitcoin will start losing its position as number one.

That's an interesting theory, but I have to disagree.
Bitcoin is the number 1 cryptocurrency, because it's the most secure cryptocurrency, not because Satoshi Nakamoto is anonymous.
Imagine if the Bitcoin blockchain had flaws and the problems like double spending weren't solved? Would the BTC blockchain be the most popular blockchain, even if Satoshi remained anonymous? I don't think so. Bitcoin Core has it's team of developers and we have to give them credit. The success of Bitcoin isn't Satoshi's achievement. He is the creator ,but Bitcoin has a community of users, developers and miners.
I don't agree with your views about altcoins. You are generalizing too much. Not all altcoins are centralized shitcoins. Most of them are, but a small amount of altcoins actually have some qualities.
1686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] Should Online Gambling be Banned? on: July 15, 2022, 10:31:36 AM
Banning some activity won't stop the people from doing it. Drugs are illegal for decades, but this isn't stopping the drug addicts to get high.
It has been stated multiple times that regulating the gambling industry is way better than banning it. At least the government gets tax revenue and the casinos are somewhat forced to implement responsible gambling practices. Banning the entire industry would simply throw it in the hands of the mobsters/organized crime.
The gambling industry can't be blamed for gambling addicts the same way alcohol industry can't be blamed for the alcoholics and the porn industry can't be blamed for porn addicts. We are mature people and we have to take responsibility for your own actions, instead of putting the blame on someone else.
1687  Economy / Gambling / Re: A New Era for Betting - (After Corona Circumstances) on: July 15, 2022, 06:05:10 AM
After the global epidemic that started in 2019, there were problems not only in football but also in all sports branches. However, sports branches that appealed to the audience live, such as football, were more affected.

Even if normalization begins towards the end of last season, we are getting ready to enter a season that we can call normal.

In this process, especially for football, I think that the big teams lose more power in general. Because supporter support is one of the most important criteria. This season, we will have a more normal season and I think we can watch better matches. Of course, we may also be entering a more enjoyable period for betting.

"Supporter support" isn't the most important factor for the performance of a professional football club. It might be a factor for amateur football clubs, but professional players can't be bothered by the lack of public or the lack of support.
The big problems with the pandemic were in the 2020-2021 season, with all the championships stopping, playing without audience and many football players getting infected with COVID. I think that things got back to normal in season 2021-2022, so you are a little bit late with your conclusions. Grin
I don't think that the decline of the pandemic will change the performance of the teams. Actually there might be another COVID wave, but all players are vaccinated. You are clearly exaggerating the influence of COVID over professional sports.

1688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fixes everything - how does it fix Pharma? on: July 15, 2022, 05:42:07 AM
Was talking with my gf who has diabetes type 1. The main reason it hasn't been cured is because maintenance drugs make more money than cures. A lone doctor recently came up with a stem cell cure, but it will take a long time to come to market. A trillion dollar industry was not incentivised to put money into a cure - yet one doctor could do it. How does Bitcoin solve this incentive? Or can it?

Bitcoin cannot "fix everything". Who the hell told you that?
The current patent system has to be replaced by a rewards system, so the inventors get paid a big prize by the government, when they invent something new(of course their invention has to be really useful for the human kind).
The patent system makes all new inventions more expensive, because the inventors get paid royalties for every product that has been sold.
This is one of the reasons why newly invented remedies are so expensive. The other reason is big pharma companies investing millions of dollars in research and testing. How do you think that Bitcoin(or the BTC blockchain) can solve a problem like this?
Viewing Bitcoin as a panacea to every problem has always been really annoying to me.
1689  Economy / Economics / Re: Capitalizing on the strong US dollar? on: July 14, 2022, 10:20:03 AM
Is the US dollar really that strong? The Federal Reserve increased the interest rates a little bit, but USA still has the biggest budget deficit and national debt in the world. Having a strong national currency while having gigantic multi-trillion dollar budget deficit and national debt seems like complete nonsense to me. The EU countries and Japan aren't any better than the USA in terms of budget deficits and debts.
China has a low national debt, but the provinces have big debts. It seems that the global economy won't be getting out of the debt trap.
I don't think that the US dollar is getting stronger, it's the euro that is getting weaker. This might be temporary.
If you want to trade fiat currencies, just do it at your own risk and don't take any financial advise seriously.
1690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in Casino tokens such as BFG, OWL or TFS on: July 14, 2022, 06:16:14 AM
Basically those utility tokens have a more stable price than the cryptocurrencies. There are three reasons for this:
1.The casinos are growing and increasing their customer base. A legit business will always have a higher value than a sketchy business.
2.The owners of those casinos can manipulate the price/value of the tokens by increasing their scarcity, burning a part of the tokens in circulation or buying back a part of the token supply. I think that Betfury did something like this last year.
3.In general, a utility token must have a more stable value than a regular altcoin/token(assuming that the project behind that particular utility token is fully functional and legit).

Anyway, this topic seems more related to investing rather than gambling and maybe you should move it to the Gambling Discussion forum(or some other forum).
1691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why not use Tether instead of Bitcoin ? on: July 14, 2022, 05:49:00 AM
Why do people not promote Tether instead of Bitcoin?

Is it because there is no money to be made in Tether?

Isn't the whole idea of Bitcoin to have a decentralized network that is useful and fair?  Isn't that Tether?

1:1 seems fairer than 1:20,000 ...

So you think that Tether is decentralized, useful and fair? Are you joking? Read more about Bitcoin and Tether and then come on the forum and start posting. Tether is a centralized fractional reserve shady company. Tether might be the next big reason for the Bitcoin price to go down to 10K USD. Nobody knows whether or not USDT is 100% backed by USD. We've seen other stablecoins collapsing. It's about time for Tether to collapse. Why use Tether, when you could use US dollars. Tether isn't any better than the US dollar.
There's no such thing as a "fair price". The market decides the price. If the price is 1:20,000 then this is the "fair price". It doesn't matter if it's going to be 1:1 or 1:20,000.

New media platforms associated with crypto have flourished.

I wouldn't say that the crypto news websites have "flourished". They are simply following the growth of the crypto industry. This doesn't seem like "flourishing" to me. Crypto adoption and recognition isn't growing as fast as we all want.
If you ask me, the crypto news platforms deliver the same clickbait biased garbage as the mainstream media.
We live in the age of social media. It's pretty normal for the traditional media platforms to face a decline. Fake news and propaganda have been a thing for decades(or even centuries) and the current digital era makes them more accessible to a big audience.
The mainstream media will always serve it's masters- the political elite and the big corporations. This isn't going to change.
I'm not saying that social media is better. It's actually worse. The amount of censorship, fake news and brainwashing propaganda is brutal.
1693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Threshold of Loss in Gambling on: July 13, 2022, 05:30:14 AM
Gambling is fun. And it doesn't matter whether you go to a land-based casino to bet or an online casino. When we bet, we celebrate our wins and count our losses. According to this study, the researchers found that gamblers are satisfied with small wins and will tolerate small losses but when they hit the threshold of loss, they will not play anymore.  I will attempt to define threshold of loss as regards gambling as the minimum intensity at which a gambler can no longer tolerate a loss.

My question is, can you remember a time when you reached your threshold of loss while gambling?

My threshold of loss is really low, but I have always gambled with small amounts of money.
When I saw this forum thread title, I thought that you are going to discuss about crypto casinos imposing a threshold of loss, above which the gamblers aren't allowed to bet money on that particular casino. I guess that no crypto or fiat casino in the world would agree to put limits on it's own revenue and profits. Casinos are the making most of their money out of the gambling addicts. Sad but true.
This study doesn't bring anything new to the table. We already know that most players gamble for fun and the hardcore gambling addicts are a minority.
1694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What update bitcoin needs to be the global stable coin? on: July 13, 2022, 05:13:06 AM
Bitcoin is not a bank. You don't depost and withdraw money in Bitcoin the same way you deposit and withdraw money in a bank.
Crypto exchange platforms have some similarities to banks, but don't compare Bitcoin to a crypto exchange platform.
What you are describing looks like a proof-of-stake concept. If you want proof-of-stake then just use PoS altcoins.
Is there a need for Bitcoin to become a stablecoin? I don't think so. You can't have high profits and a stable price. You can't have the cake and eat it at the same time. High profits mean volatile price. A stable price means very low profits or no profits at all.
If you want a stablecoin just use stablecoins or fiat money.
1695  Economy / Economics / Re: Good and Evil money — The Morality of earning Money/Rewards on: July 12, 2022, 10:57:04 AM
If this "good vs. evil money" theory was true, almost all the millionaires and billionaires around the world would just waste the fortune they don't deserve. Grin The reality is way different than your beliefs and assumptions.
Your "good/evil money" theory has another name: Karma is a bitch. Grin The bad things you do in life come back and kick you in the ass at some point. This isn't statistically or empirically proven, but many people still believe in this superstition. I'm not sure if this has something do with religion. I've seen many criminals living a luxurious lifestyle, dating hot women and getting away with their crimes. Maybe they will receive their punishment in the afterlife(if there is afterlife). Justice is a human concept. In reality, there's no such thing as justice in the mother nature or the universe. Life isn't fair and it never will be.
1696  Economy / Gambling / Re: Olimp.com - Lifetime 5% Crypto Deposit Bonus - Betting and Casino on: July 12, 2022, 06:15:40 AM
It seems weird that you have decided to promote a 15 year old website on the forum right now.
Haven't you used other marketing channels to bring new gamblers to your website? Is this website yours and can you prove it?
You didn't post a clickable link to olimp.com in this forum thread? Why? This seems suspicious to me and I won't visit your casino/sportsbook.
Having an amateurish announcement thread won't help for gathering new customers.
This website is 15 years old and I haven't heard anything about it. Perhaps there's a reason for not becoming a popular and trusted brand in the online gambling business for so long.
1697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The number of hodlers on: July 12, 2022, 05:48:46 AM

I don't doubt that this is the case, what I doubt is that it is a bullish indicator, which is what the news sells us when they say that Bitcoins are leaving the exchanges.

The process of Bitcoin moving out of crypto exchanges into cold wallets is neither bullish or bearish.
The new money that enters the crypto market usually flows into the centralized crypto exchange platforms, because:
1.The platforms are usually more convenient.
2.Crypto newbies still don't understand the meaning of "not your keys, not your coins" and "be your own bank". That's why they prefer to trust a company.
The hardcore crypto traders/investors, who are inside the crypto world for several years, got disappointed by the crypto exchanges, so they are moving their coins out of them.
In summary, increasing the amount of coins in crypto exchanges can be seen as a bullish indicator, while coins moving from exchanges to cold storage is more like neutral. The argument of this process actually increasing the number of HODLers isn't completely valid, because those investors could potentially their sell the coins, which are stored in their cold wallets.
1698  Economy / Economics / Re: Euro currency going down on: July 11, 2022, 10:43:51 AM
There is no demand for eur currency eurpe dont produce anything to export out of eu.
The biggest winners are those who sell things like russia and also norway since russia is out of the game the norway will take whole eu market so expect NOK to going parabolic bull run against eur currency the world will be full of unwanted eur currency so value of euro going down since everybody want to exchange their euros to get other currencies.
Off course winners are those who produce something and do a lot exports off course not goods but energy such us gas and electricity.

This sounds far-fetched. Germany alone exports goods for about 1.37 trillion euro annually. The European Union exports a lot of goods and services, but it imports a lot of goods and services as well. The trade balance is what's important.
Anyway, the Euro is going down in value because:
1.The insecurity regarding the war in Ukraine and the Russian oil and natural gas supplies, which are about to stop(or maybe not).
Europe is way more dependent from Russian natural resources than many other countries. The USA doesn't have this problem.
2.The European central bank isn't increasing the interest rates. The Federal Reserve finally did some rate hikes and many economists criticized this move as being "too little, too late". The European central bank is even slower than the Federal Reserve.

1699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Grand Lotto Winner on: July 11, 2022, 06:20:37 AM
Mentioning the winner's city isn't revealing his full identity. What if the winner lives in a big city?
Revealing the winner's identity, when he or she lives in a small city could become a problem.
The crime rates in the Philippines must be really high, so the lottery winners have to be extra cautious. There isn't such problem in my country and most of the people, who won the national lottery reveal their identity without any hesitation(even though this is completely voluntary).
I assume that the Lotto organizer isn't allowed by the law to mention the winner's names unless they give him permission.

1700  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What happened to preev.com? on: July 11, 2022, 05:52:56 AM
Apparently preev.com is down right now.
Do we really need preev.com in order to check the current Bitcoin price? You could just google "Bitcoin" and the Bitcoin price comes up as the first search result. There are hundreds of places where we could check the current BTC price, most of them are cryptocurrency exchange platforms. I used to check preev.com every day in the past few years, but nowadays I don't care that much about the Bitcoin price, mostly because every price drop is very annoying to me. Grin I really hope that preev.com comes back online. This website has sentimental value for me and probably for most Bitcoiners.
