1721  Economy / Service Discussion / Wallet Recovery Service(s) - fake copy? on: January 22, 2021, 07:24:50 AM
Hello
Have you seen page https://walletrecoveryservice.com/ -> davebitcoin@protonmail.com ?
I guess it is not the original Dave https://www.walletrecoveryservices.com/ -> walletrecoveryservices@gmail.com

The other one (without s) has even this same subpages.

I must say - very nice try... In the future Dave should buy both domains...

I have tried your script twice (with a different wallets generated by blockstack) and all was fine.
Once I had to delete file .blockstack/api_endpoint.pid, I do not know why it was generated.
In the past I have seen output you showed (None/None...), when I played with 'import' param.
1723  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: .05BTC (~$1,700) to whoever helps me successfully extract my BTC from CLI wallet on: January 19, 2021, 07:13:51 PM

For this particular problem, you need to run it as python2 restore-wallet.py wallet.json ~/.blockstack/wallet.json , and then put the wallet.json file with master_private_key and wallet_password fields in the same folder as restore-wallet.py.

Bravo!
I confirm it works with a new wallet (dumped) from blockstack.

1724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / British hospitals use blockchain to track COVID-19 vaccines on: January 19, 2021, 09:17:00 AM
https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-health-coronavirus-blockchain/british-hospitals-use-blockchain-to-track-covid-19-vaccines-idUSKBN29O0RW

Two British hospitals are using blockchain technology to keep tabs on the storage and supply of temperature-sensitive COVID-19 vaccines, the companies behind the initiative said on Tuesday, in one of the first such initiatives in the world.

Two hospitals, in central England’s Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick, are expanding their use of a distributed ledger, an offshoot of blockchain, from tracking vaccines and chemotherapy drugs to monitoring fridges storing COVID-19 vaccines.

The tech will bolster record-keeping and data-sharing across supply chains, said Everyware, which monitors vaccines and other treatments for Britain’s National Health Service (NHS), and Texas-based ledger Hedera, owned by firms including Alphabet’s Google and IBM, in a statement.

Logistical hurdles are a significant risk to the speedy distribution of COVID-19 vaccines but have resulted in booming business for companies selling technology for monitoring shipments from factory freezer to shots in the arm.

Pfizer Inc and BioNTech’s shot, for example, must be shipped and stored at ultra-cold temperatures or on dry ice, and can only last at standard fridge temperatures for up to five days.

Other vaccines, such as Moderna Inc’s, do not need such cold storage and are therefore easier to deliver.

“We can absolutely verify the data that we’ve collected from every single device,” Everyware’s Tom Screen said in an interview. “We make sure that data is accurate at source, and after that point we can verify that it’s never been changed, it’s never been tampered with.”

Firms from finance to commodities have invested millions of dollars to develop blockchain, a digital ledger that allows the secure and real-time recording of data, in the hope of radical cost cuts and efficiency gains.

Results have been mixed, though, with few projects achieving the revolutionary impact heralded by proponents.

Everyware’s Screen said it while it would be possible to monitor the vaccines without blockchain, manual systems would raise the risk of mistakes.

The system will “allow us to demonstrate our commitment to providing safe patient care,” said Steve Clarke, electro-bio medical engineering manager at South Warwickshire NHS in a statement.
1725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: .05BTC (~$1,700) to whoever helps me successfully extract my BTC from CLI wallet on: January 18, 2021, 10:09:11 AM
However, blockstack is using these two pieces of information to make a different wallet.json file that is located inside the .blockstack folder. It has many different fields than master_private_key and wallet_password but if I write some python that derives these extra fields and fills in the .blockstack/wallet.json manually then we should be able to get wallet information after that.

Could you try to launch manually that script: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5306458.msg56040837#msg56040837
1726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: .05BTC (~$1,700) to whoever helps me successfully extract my BTC from CLI wallet on: January 18, 2021, 07:31:56 AM
I must say I am not able to import given wallet.json as well.
After I installed blockstack-client I had this same error like @OP. Then I deleted .blockstack folder from HOME.
Each time I use import it ends generating new wallet.
I have made the change you mentioned in blockstack script (interactive false/true) and now I am asked for Blockstack server data during first start.
I still have not found the way how to import given master_private_key...
1727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: .05BTC (~$1,700) to whoever helps me successfully extract my BTC from CLI wallet on: January 17, 2021, 03:44:51 PM
You must have somewhere the folder in which blockstack keeps configuration and wallet.
Maybe try from the console:
Code:
 rm -rf ~/.blockstack/
1728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: .05BTC (~$1,700) to whoever helps me successfully extract my BTC from CLI wallet on: January 17, 2021, 10:38:02 AM
Delete .blockstack folder if you have it inside your HOME.

Then again:
Code:
blockstack set_advanced_mode
-> on

Anyway: when I launch
Code:
 blockstack import_wallet wallet.json

it asks me for
Code:
Payment private key ('payment_privkey'):
Name owner private key ('owner_privkey'):
optional: Data-signing private key ('data_privkey'):

Is it correct?

1731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Password encryption change between versions? on: January 15, 2021, 03:31:22 PM
Then a few days ago I started again, trying different combinations/rules using the btcrecover tool and after 1hrs effort, I found the password!!!!  Grin
Now thinking about the timing when to transfer into an exchange (which one?) and coverting to everyday cash ... or just sit on them for them time being.

Congratulations!
What to do now - everything depends on your needs and approach. You must decide yourself Wink
1732  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Is this recoverable ? on: January 15, 2021, 12:58:04 PM
I have one blockchain.com account its created in 2013 but due to some problems lost password now I have Identifier and 18 words phrase want to ask here is there any chance I can recover my funds from this wallet or now its all gone.

Did you read this?
https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001298143-Your-Recovery-Phrase-The-Failsafe

They expect 12 words: https://login.blockchain.com/#/recover
1733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 11/12 words seed, Any1 can please hepl me on: January 11, 2021, 03:40:31 PM
It checks balance of 10 addresses using blockchain api - not fast as I must slow it down (not to be rejected by them) but it works.
I have a feeling that now it works only for legacy addresses, so this is something to improve.

you should change how it works entirely because this method is currently unusable. but for now at least try to find a blockchain explorer API that allows you to batch check the address balances like blockcypher and send it maximum number of addresses it allows.

It checks 10 addresses generated per each seed (in a single call to blockchain api)
What do you mean by "unusable"?
1734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 11/12 words seed, Any1 can please hepl me on: January 11, 2021, 08:02:10 AM
hello i have  1 word missing from my seed and i need help to find a program to restore my BTC. i have just that 11 words, no addresses or other details as this was years ago. Thank you in advance
- What wallet did you use to create this 12 word seed?
- Do you know what position the missing word is supposed to be?
- Are the 11 words you current have in the correct order?

This isn't the "best" case scenario... but it's not "bad"... not knowing any addresses will slow you down as you'll need to manually check every valid seed combination that you can generate from your 11 words +1 "guess" word and see if any of the first 5-10 addresses have "history" to know if you're found the "correct" seed.

Not ideal, but a script and a blockexplorer API should be able to work that for you.

Take a look: https://github.com/PawelGorny/lostword
I added configuration example ONE_UNKNOWN_CHECK_ALL
It checks balance of 10 addresses using blockchain api - not fast as I must slow it down (not to be rejected by them) but it works.
I have a feeling that now it works only for legacy addresses, so this is something to improve.

One word missing on unknown position? Take a look at my program: https://github.com/PawelGorny/lostword
The problem is that if you do not know address no-one may tell if it is your key, because with a blocked one missing word you may generate many correct keys.
So the needed would be to check if any on generated addresses has coins. What is not obvious if you do not know derivation path...
Do not you remember if address started with 1 or bc1?
1736  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how to open old wallet.dat on: January 09, 2021, 06:37:35 PM
Dear all,

I have an old wallet.dat from 2011.
How to open an old wallet best?

When I use latest bitcoin core release, i get error dialog that the wallet needs to be rewritten and app restarted.
After restart, the wallet is empty.

Thanks in advance and happy new year.
Stay safe!

You may try older Bitcoin Core application (https://bitcoin.org/en/version-history) but probably the faster solution is to use pywallet (*1) script to extract private key and then use more user-friendly program (like for example Electrum).

Hey man, thanks again for replying

Yep, I did install again electrum, and what happens is that it suggest you a default (I suppose randomly generated) seed phrase

That why I said I likely did Next/Next/Accept?Yes to all shit xD

Will try your new suggestion as well, and this scalpel stuff. (requires time copying stuff)

Thanks again!

PS: What pisses me off is that I have Electrum folder with stuff inside, but not wallet folder. Why? Because that specified memory were deleted in the format but not adjacent files/folders?  Did I move this folder somewhere else? Dont think so. The electrum version I was using did work the same way like the current one? No clue. Anyway, we keep going!

Maybe you saved your wallet not in default folder, maybe under Documents/ or something like this. Do you remember if you applied a password on your wallet?
1738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: .05BTC (~$1,700) to whoever helps me successfully extract my BTC from CLI wallet on: January 08, 2021, 09:17:56 AM
I saved it on my desktop...not sure what you mean by "~"?
~ represents the home directory in Linux I guess it's the same in Mac too.
The location of the file should be in the same place where you are trying to execute it.
You should navigate to where the file is located and then execute the command.

Use ls to list what you have in the directory.

Okay it worked! The private key is 52 characters and starts with cV and ends in gk

So now I should try to import it into Electrum?

cV... means the key is for testnet.

Take a look: https://learnmeabitcoin.com/technical/wif
This same key creates different WIFs - and testnet flag (prefix = ef) causes WIF to starts with cV.

Do you have structure or only flat files? Do you have original filenames or only temporary names assigned by recovery program?
Show us the screenshot, it would be easier to tell
