1721  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: August 20, 2013, 02:49:35 PM
One of my  Batch #3  Avalon stopped hashing  Solid Red light and flashes an Orange light every few seconds.

I can remote into it, however fans and hashing is at 0.

Turns out my 850w Seasonic Gold  PS burned out  A/C went out for a few hours too :/  Overclocked at 358mhz on 4 modules.  I am going to RMA it and buy a 1000-1300watt gold PS.

Luckily I bought a 750watt bronze and I disconnected the 4th module to get it up.

Be prepared for 750watt bronze blast soon Smiley

Now seriously - the idea to drive your PSU at 85% load and higher is not good at all. Just a friendly advise:

for 750W 320-330mhz MAX otherwise make sure you have third PSU around Wink
And no matter what CPU are you buying just make sure that 12V real can drive at least 80A enough for 4 modules at 350+ with a nice safety reserve

Guy's
+1 for n4ru
Why you are not putting any comments to various thread selling avalons for 200+ BTC? People start to realize that Magic ASIC word is not a money printing machine anymore. So n4ru is making an offer whoever wants it and that is all.
And yes he has money and yes he can do the math (which does not apply to most of folks here) A deal must be reasonable for both parties period.

I think this is a smart proposal.  Unfortunately most folks with miners in hand paid more than $55/GH.  Batch 3 Avalon's are like 75 to 100 bucks per GH depending on USD pricing and if you are over clocking. Maybe some lucky BFL folks would sell.

I think this will look more interesting near the end of the.month with two more short retargets.
Yes that is what i was trying to say Smiley The offer is fair based on 2-4 Months ROI for the buyer.

BKK,

Did you make some test of fully populated K16 board already? Can i ask you to publish a compiled PIC firmware on github also? Please note the compiled version might be there already - i am not aware which file extension shall i look for - please just point it out

Plot twist: Avalon is mining with our trade-ins.

For 17 Btc i guess they will send them to us after batch3

You do not have to  Smiley
strombom rocks!

About grace,
I am not sure how much shit you have to apply, but it is a good idea to make sure that there is enough paste to fill the gaps in between the bottom of the chips and radiator Cheesy
1728  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Clone Assembly Service Europe 14 Avalons + 16 extra modules + enclosures on: August 01, 2013, 10:29:33 AM
Since the chips arrived I have been working on the assembly process, I have had to work out quite a few different problems. I have slowly been finding a process that gives consistent quality, at first a lot of chips were not soldered properly and I had to do rework. Still going a bit slow, I will have to ship units in the order the chips arrive, so far I have assembled around 500 chips.

hacko.bg: I received chips from zefir first batch.

Nice:)

When done please PM us tracking numbers Wink

What kind of power connector is going to use?

Thanks!
2 options
MOLEX 4 pin or
Terminal screw for 2 wires
both are 5 mm pitch
Great marto
+1 for thermal screw Wink
1730  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Store Batch 3 Status just went to "Refunded" -- now "Refund Processing" on: July 29, 2013, 08:51:55 AM
Can someone contact Yifu?
Via phone, or maybe someone knows another way of doing it.

Because this is becoming hilarious, and frightening at the same time...
He's been absent for two weeks know.

By this time he promised to:
1-st, process the refunds.
2-nd, send out batch 3.
3-rd, process trade-ins.

What has been done? NOTHING.

4-th, deliver the chips
Wrong
Some of the chips are on the way or delivered already
1731  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [CLOSED] Avalon ASIC chip distribution on: July 25, 2013, 09:12:08 PM
But somebody who only ordered a small amount might be willing to pay for shipping, just not the full amount. So why not charge half the flat-fee for small orders (i.e. two "categories")? However, Zefir should not have to do accounting - I'm confident that your "customers" will just pay the prices you ask for. Just define "small order" and ask people to apply the x% rebate by themselves before paying.

Post office do not care if you send one or 500 chips. They charge same as long as package is < 0.5 kg
Anyway let us make it easy for zefir. Let him decide and leave this arguing in the past Wink

In practice, that does not matter since most people ship to burnin, marto74, etc. So it makes a difference whether you occupy, say 30% of the space in one packet, because you ordered a lot, or you occupy 2% because you ordered just 10 chips.
Dude,
They charge on volume weight or wight in kg the bigger one. And they do have minimum weight charge no matter of what 0.5 or 1 kg. They do not care if it is a single chip package, they just charge Make the calculations please and you will see that 2000 chips may cost same as one chip. It does not matter how many chips do you send concerning this topic.

It is true that 1 chip is taking less than 0.01% or so but what i am saying that the charge for one or for 2000 will be equal. I am speculating here with numbers her but you got the idea right?

For sure it will be less expensive sharing 2005 chips - 2000 + 1+1_+1+1+1 shipping costs between 5 guys (one chip order as example) equally compared to just a single chip 5 times

Anyway
Peace

Thanks for the explanation on the distribution of unclaimed chips.

As for the s&h matter I don't think it's fair that a person with 10 chips and another person with 100 chips pay the same s&h costs...
But I also understand that it's somewhat tedious and too complicated to calculate per individual also given that some are shipped to manufacturers in combined packages, others are shipped directly to individuals and so on.

I think it would be better if there are categories, e.g. up to 50 chips, up to 100 chips, up to 200 chips etc.

That would make everything more complicated. Zefir is already spending enough time to make everything work out right.
The ones that canīt pay can take it as a donation and post it in public.
+1

Besides shipping up to 50 chips, up to 100 chips, up to 200 chips alone as separate package in terms of shipping cost is same. Actually Zefir is not making anything wrong charging equal amount.

1734  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [CLOSED] Avalon ASIC chip distribution on: July 25, 2013, 07:08:51 PM
May I ask how many chips from the 1st batch were unclaimed and how were they distributed between manufacturers Smiley

Yes, you may Wink

11 orders from 9 users were missing with a total of 420 chips. Those (plus others out of my reserves) were added to marto74, burnin, and strombom's delivery to fill up the chip-trays or complete sealed packages. With that, those chip manufacturers can build up some reserves to manage issues (DOA chips, lost chips, etc.) at their side, which I assumed to be the best possible use.

From the surplus chips, none were sent to private addresses, while I added my own chips to some split orders for people having some more chips in the 2nd batch to reduce shipping costs and handling efforts. Also I sent 90 chips from my own to someone with later orders promising to build USB miners and distribute them to non-techies and so introduce them to Bitcoin.

Does this answer your question, or you had something specific in mind?

You are a star Zefir!
Thank you very much. I filled the contact website form asking if my chips were sent. The answer is here. But i have asked for shipping expenses also. I am aware that we shall take care of them but i still did not get a reply.
Please comment how shall we send you some coins to cover the shipping?

1735  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon Asic] trade-in Thread on: July 18, 2013, 07:15:57 PM
My update is:
No response to my support request, and no email. If you view the link in my signature, you'll see the time of verification that they received my Icarus was April 19th, 2013 3:06PM CST.

There is an order in the store for me, and the text of the order on the second page indicates I should send a specified amount of BTC to a specific address. The order price indicates a different amount. Because I have received no email, and partly because others here have paid and gotten no confirmation of shipment of their trade-in, I created a new ticket requesting assistance and clarification on what I should be providing/paying.

Dude,
Just pay the bill as we all did. Asking for a support/response will do nothing but just slow your delivery
just my two cents
PS: i paid silently on the same day and my order status is not changing, but i am not making noise just waiting.

Now wont connect up?
Yes it is called hotplug
Take it easy just to avoid this message comment ftdi and usb serial in /etc/modules
1737  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 18, 2013, 08:55:53 AM
anyone succeded of connecting another device in the USB hub of the Avalon (like a jalapeno or usb erupter)
and start hashing with it via Avalon's cgminer? Smiley
Yes you will succeed but you need to recompile the image with new cgmminer with support to both your avalon and your second device
1738  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [12 TH/s] BitMinter.com [ASIC support: var diff, Stratum, GBT, rollntime] on: July 17, 2013, 07:34:57 AM
Last block on 2013-07-15 17:27 ! WTF ??!!
Now is 2013-07-16 11:20 !

We get the payment for the missing blocks???

There are no missing blocks. Just like there are no "extra" blocks when we have lucky short rounds.

Bitcoin mining is like a lottery. Sometimes you find blocks quickly with only a few hashes (lottery tickets) and sometimes it takes many hashes.

Luckily we found a couple quick blocks after that 26 hour block, which helps even out the bad luck we just had.

If the variance makes you uneasy then you can mine in a PPS pool instead. You'll have high fees, no income from transaction fees, no namecoin income. In short, you will lose a lot of money. But you won't have any variance at all. The same (very low) payouts every day.

That's the thing... all miners occasionally lose out due to bad luck, one way or another. If that didn't happen, then you're also not benefiting from good luck--or else the pool would go bankrupt So really, there's no point in trying to avoid it. I'd rather see the downturns all laid out in a direct correlation (payment = % of block) rather than hidden behind extra fees (and not really knowing how much I'm really losing.)

I'm sticking with Bitminter; I find the payouts to be quite fair. Smiley

And That's the thing... all miners occasionally WIN out due to GOOD luck So we are even in the long term Smiley

Drharibo , is IT posible something went wrong witheet maintenance yesterday ?!
Or else we Have ā record....
+1 I have never seen such bad luck before

Your current round is at 135m shares as of this post.  That is only ~5 times current difficulty.  Most pools (BitMinter included I bet) have had *at least* one block that was 10x difficulty.

It is worth asking though. The fact after the maintenance we did not find a single block exists. Shit happen and it may be related. Let us hope that Doc will check it asap. No matter of what i am sticking to the pool. If there was a bug hitting us we will loose a day or two of profits. I can leave with it.
