Don't forget the -logfile argument. Not that it will help run armory. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I had all sorts of Armory problems until I ran bitcoin-qt first then opened armory (disable the appropriate setting in armory). Maybe loading them separate will help diagnose your issue.

How exactly will you have a longer blockchain if you rewrite your synced blockchain with an older one?
The older one will not contain the transaction to the exchange, true, but once it updates and syncs, your client will see you already spent your coins.
What exactly are you trying to prove here?
Dude trust me, if it was that easy, crypto would not exist anymore.
It's in step 9

Try: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe -rescan

The units in those posts were mining on known pools, so they wouldn't have reported as unknown.
|
|
|
There's only a fixed number of people who want to mine BTC, so interest has to slow down / stop at some point.

Everyone it seems in agreement. Yes its possible but no, it's so unlikely there is no need to worry about it. OK but wouldn't it be fairly simple to have an automatic check within all the clients and a simple prompt .. 'this key pair already exits please try again' Getting Deja-vu on this topic but its nice to rehash once in a while. It would be better if it said "Bingo! You've found someone else's address -- transferring all their funds now"

Hit Windows-Key r Type cmd in the box. Hit enter. type:
copy %appdata%\Bitcoin\wallet.dat %appdata%\Bitcoin\wallet.dat.bak copy C:\windows.old\Users\my user name\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\wallet.dat %appdata%\Bitcoin\wallet.dat
replace "my user name" with your old user name Then run the bitcoin-qt program normally

Are those bitcoin poker chips?

|

Tried that but datadir C:\windows.old\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin but it wont open. I think I may have shot myself in the foot because when I started
I opened windows.old, users, then I may have unzipped the bitcoin 8.1 which asks to overwrite files.
I have several rigs mining and the one I had the wallet with the bitcoins I had to work on, so I always? send the bitcoins to one of my other rigs wallets. Well I forgot
(was pissed) after the 2 hours of crap I just finished, this PC started freezing up again, so I through in the disc and....Oh well, a learning experience I didn't need. 10
bitcoins is not a deadly loss to me, but it really sucks. I know better
Did you change "your user name" to your actual user name? Or make a backup of that wallet.dat you found in the windows.old and copy it to your new appdata folder.

It's important for bitcoin to learn from these alt-coin experiments.
They are basically just simulations of 51% attacks and watching how they respond to them and how that works out could prove important to Bitcoin's future.
Yeah, I view all these alt-coins as a type of testnet

Apologies if this has been covered before, but what will happen if a batch if not completed (in a reasonable amount of time)? I'm asking since batch 6 begun on June 6 and, as far as I can see, only 643 chips have been paid for as of right now.
Then steamboat will have a bunch of chips for his own mining operation he wasnt planning on! And thus was born the K9357 Mega Miner

It would be nice if attackers only went after coins that had premines.

If it was me I would at least NEED some of the US$7,500,000 to pay for business expenses
what are your thoughts?
It's not you, it's a business that apparently has money from previous sales or a business loan.

BFL is picking up steam -- at their current pace by the end of 2013 they will have shipped all preorders.
|
|

There could be several pools contributing to the unknown -- it's likely not just one pool.
|
|
|
If nobody is mining then the difficulty will be so low that I'll start solo mining and clean up.

From experience in boats and RVs I can say that it's a good idea to keep things simple.
I want to find a guide for the Raspberry Pi & 12v ASICs.
You want to keep everything 12v if you can. Converting to and from A/C induces loss and gets complicated.
The advantage of ASIC is that you can potentially keep adding them until they match what your solar panel is putting out.
I also recommend keeping the whole thing independent on it's own if possible, running either off a leisure battery or another battery setup if you have something cheap or for free.
I don't like batteries; I would much rather store energy as kinetic if possible - like water in a high place. Batteries are always going wrong and they're hard to service. Even forklift batteries get corroded on the fins inside. Sealed batteries are even worse.
Questions:
- 12v USB hub. How to add extra power without using a wallwart? - Is there a guide for the Raspberry Pi and ASICs? I think if the Pi runs off USB it's unreliable? I've tried the Beaglebone and that's more reliable off USB, running at a lower CPU mhz (300mhz instead of 800mhz I think) - another way to store 12v energy other than batteries which need replacing?
The Raspberry Pi runs off of a USB power source only. For storage I saw a kickstarter project for a flywheel if you don't like batteries.

I think something like Qubes is the most secure. You might be able to install Xen on Ubuntu?
