1741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Queen Elizabeth and Cryptocurrency on: September 09, 2022, 01:29:43 AM
Was surprised that they don't even respect the death of the Queen by creating a lot of meme in her name.

Nevertheless, it's obvious that they will be another avenue for those pumpers and manipulators. So the best thing to do is to stay away from this kind of project and let it die. We have a lot of meme coins already, no need to add more. Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth.
1742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Cryptocurrencies Change the View of the Game Industry in the Future on: September 08, 2022, 09:06:28 AM
Yes. There are two reasons behind this.

I've played axie Infinity and Thetan Arena both of these were very dull games, after playing I realized that these are not play-to-earn. but bore to earn games.

Second, their economic models are not sustainable. They always need new players so that they come and buy tokens/nfts from old players and start playing the game.

But I wonder what happens when a large number of people lose interest in the game and if new players also stop coming, then who'll buy their tokens earned by old players.

Yes, I agree with the economic model are not sustainable. Maybe it was not designed to be a boring game, but sooner or later players will have to look something that excites them and this games have none. Also, as you mentioned, there might be a time that no new players are going to come in the space, so no one will buy the tokens and the game might die a natural dead because of framework. Axie now is one example of this, it is slowly losing the grip already as players are moving to new games.
1743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 08, 2022, 08:26:14 AM
It is indeed a ticket for his rematch if ever he will decide to move up for another try, Bivol though got his own upcoming fight and we don't know what will happen, though personally I can say that with his amazing skills he can win that fight, we witness his quickness and good counter each time Canelo attempts to box him.

A rematch could happen with Bivol but Canelo's camp are just smart enough to build a hype before the rematch. And you are right, what if upset will happen? Then Canelo's popularity will be affected and most likely we will see a GGG vs Bivol, and IMO it's gonna be a great and exciting fight.

I don't think that Bivol vs GGG will happen even if he wins against Canelo in their fight. He will be too small at light heavyweight He is a career 160 lbs and this just the first or the second time that he will step up to 168 lbs, Canelo's best weight. So I think win or lose in here, Alvarez will fight Bivol and I think there will still be hype for this match even if the cash cow lost to GGG.
1744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 08, 2022, 01:58:38 AM
I’m not sure I like the Hornets signing Montrez Harrell. I feel like he got his bag when he left the Clippers and hasn’t been the same since. I don’t suspect any team that signs him is going to get their money’s worth. I don’t think he’s a good pairing with their young run and gun squad either. I guess we’ll see how it goes, but I feel like it won’t go well.
Signing with the Hornets or the Sixers? It's the latter that I'm reading.

It's $5.2 Million for two years with a player option for a 28-year-old center. I don't think that's a bad deal for any team since he can still be useful in player rotations. The Sixers probably thinks he could give Embiid more minutes to rest while he's on the floor. Maybe they're hoping a double-double or close to it for 20 minutes?
It was in the Sixers where he signed and maybe there is a bit of mistake with that post.
https://www.nba.com/news/montrezl-harrell-signs-philadelphia-sixers

After giving Drummond to the Nets in the Harden-Simmons trade, the Sixers really lacked a big at that time and it was Embiid who was their reliable big. Now they are starting to acquire bigs like DeAndre Jordan and now they also got Harrell who isn't tall for a big TBH but a good defender and a former 6th man of the year when he was in Clippers. His stint with the Lakers was the reason why his efficiency went down drastically but I think he can still contribute more to the team knowing how he played when he was in the Clippers. It's a good sign to the Sixers as Embiid will play less minutes.

I think this is a solid signing for the sixers.  Will give them an extra added toughness down low, and a real good veteran at a good price.  Sometimes these signings look unsuspecting in September but come the season it ends up being the piece they needed all along.  Sixers aren't too far off.

Of course, any team that he can go he will add toughness inside, but then again, he is undersized for a center so not sure if he will also be a good fit.

But if the price is good then why not? Specially if Joel gets injured early, as least they have someone to cover him in that position even if he is not that tall to bang with the true centers in the league.
1745  Economy / Speculation / Re: All Eyes On Bitcoin’s Monthly Close on: September 08, 2022, 12:06:38 AM
I think all eyes will be on sept 13th which is significant because it’s when the ETH merge happens and when the CPI is released.

Oh, I thought that it is going to happen on Sept 6. That's why I was surprised to see the damage on the price near the ETH merge but I was wrong with the date. Although the market has bounce back to the $19k'ish and maybe on the 13th we may see some pump in the whole crypto because of the said merge.

The CPI is important because if we get a low number then we will rally hard. If we get something high like 1% again then we will dump hard since it means more rate hikes.

I agree, whenever the monthly CPI is released the market reactive positive or negative, just like the rest of other traditional markets. So this is again very important to watch.
1746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Video Gaming Sector Consumes More Energy Than Bitcoin Mining. on: September 07, 2022, 09:36:16 AM
My question is; Why then do people talk about Bitcoin mining power consumption like it is the most and worst energy consumer?

It's because they have to find someone to blame for what is happening to the world, for instance global warming, And it just so happen that bitcoin mining is the latest technology that disrupted everything from financial to environment to green house effect. They can't put everyone on banks for consuming so much energy because it's the bloodline of every government and economy around the world. So the best culprit - Bitcoin Mining.
1747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [NEWS] Gambler Charged with Murder after Letting Kids Die on: September 07, 2022, 09:20:17 AM
I don’t fully understand the news so correct me if I’m wrong. The mother leave his kids on the car without AC turn on that result to suffocation due to the heat?
Yes, the mother leaves those children on the car and yes, AC is probably off too since it's not recommended to turn the engine on and the AC for several hours assuming the mother leaves the children for several hours.

Unfortunately, every year there is some news like that in my country. People who leave their children in the car in the summer in the sun, going shopping or whatever, and because of the overheating of the sun and the fact that young children are more vulnerable, they end up dying.

This is the first time I've seen it related to gambling, though, that the mother had gone to the casino. It's a mixture of irresponsibility and not being aware of the possible consequences.

Yes, from time to time, we will see this sort of news about irresponsible parents leaving their children on car, if not children, their pets and then they come back to find out that they are dead. And it's really hard to fathom the mindset of such individuals, the minute your children left you you should be nervous or panic already. But this addicted gamblers decision is really clouded that they don't know the consequences of their actions.
1748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 07, 2022, 09:04:32 AM
Can we expect on future years to come on having machine scoring on some sport? It might be that accurate? There are angles which might cant be seen by machines but can be seen by human awareness and observation thats why manual scoring would really be still preferred but since machine scoring isnt available yet then lets see if ever this one pushed through but its true that speaking about possible
bias decisions then it could happen but these judges wont really make themselves easily get caught nor too that obvious.

I made a post on this, a few weeks ago. Several techniques are available for mechanical scoring. But the problem is that none of the boxing organizations (WBO, IBF.etc) have approved them. They are still in the initial stages of development, and although they have been tested on various amateur competitions, I don't expect mechanical scoring to be implemented anytime soon on major tournaments. Anyway, just 10 days to go.. the 4-year wait is finally coming to an end. And hopefully, this time we will have a clear winner and things will be settled once and forever.

Mechanical scoring might not be suitable for professional boxing especially in the highest competition.
Usually, when a boxing match is very close and the score cards are very close, it would create a minor controversy right after the end of the match. Can't blame the judges though as they are watching the match live and they need to decide on that point of view. Replay of the video would determine who really wins.
Except for those clearly biased judging, that will make a huge controversy.. Like the Pacquiao and Horn fight.

So boxing judges boxing obsolete with mechanical scoring? Nevertheless, I think the governing bodies will not allow this kind of judging. For sure they could have vested interest on having judges score the actual fight.

But yeah, just a couple more days to go before this finally landed, everyone is anticipating that they will just continue what they left off in the 2 fights that the had, round 25 in this trilogy starts.
1749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Naoya Inoue vs Paul Butler - Undisputed Bantamweight Bout - December 13 on: September 06, 2022, 12:56:59 AM
At least Butler will punch back, unlike a punching bag, hehehe. Paul might show his skills in this fight early, trying to evade those power punches from Inoue. But sooner or later he will be fold because he doesn't have answers to the Monster volume punching + power. This could be another great performance by Inoue and become the top 1 in the pound for pound list this year.

But Butler's punch-back surely can't be considered a threat. hehe. I also can't see him dodging most of Inoue's punch. I agree that he will turn into a punching bag by Inoue. Butler should be happy though for the opportunity to fight Inoue. I think he didn't expect to be in an undisputed match in the first place.

This will be Butler's most notable fight. If he will win, that's a considered jackpot for him.

For sure this is already a sweepstakes for Butler in terms of guaranteed money although Inoue could get the lionshare because he is the A-side of this fight. So no matter what will be the outcome, Butler is already a winner. Of course he wants to upset Inoue and create a inbalance in this division. But he will need a lot in this fight because no one has defeated Inoue so far. There is no written strategy, so very difficult task in front of him.
1750  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 06, 2022, 12:12:31 AM
Guys, today I was visiting some sports/news sites and I read a news article about Chet Holmgren's injury (to be more specific an update on his injury) and it said that he could return to the NBA maybe at the end of the season regular or early playoffs.

As incredible as it may seem, I tried to access this site again to view it more calmly, but it seems that the content was taken down... To be more specific, this news I had read was on the ESPN website.

Has anyone seen any news similar to this about Holmgren's injury!!?

Looking at the news before, Chet's injury is a season-ending injury. He might be able to play, as you mentioned in NBA's last few games or early playoffs but I'm sure OKC will not risk it. They will fully unleash Chet next season to make sure everything is smooth. For now, OKC will now rely on their current roster or maybe they have also other plans to sign other players before the trade deadline.

Yes, although in the beginning we thought that the injury is not that serious, but the MRI says otherwise and they didn't waste time because he goes under the knife to fix his injuries and they declared it a season ending for Chet. And it was reported a couple of days ago that the operations is very successful. They just needed more time for it to heal so there's no rush for him to comeback whether end of regular season or in the playoff because he needs time to adjust his body. So it's better for the OKC management to rest him out this season.
1751  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: National Police of Ukraine takes down cyber crime group on: September 03, 2022, 08:51:12 AM
while there is a war going on in their country, these cyber group are also busy victimizing. just amazing.  Cheesy

Just really ironic that they would rather continue with their criminals activities despite what is going on with their country. Maybe this Ukrainians doesn't care what is happening on their homeland, for them money is important specially in this times as they need to feed their family. But I guess money can't buy anything if their country is still in war-torn.

it didn't say how long this call center been operating, i can imagine they operate for years by the number of employees laying down. Just arm these crime group, recruit these guys to fight Russians in Donetsk.

Let's say they have been operating prior to the war because it looks like it is very organized. The setup and everything is professional. So they may be running this for years maybe.
1752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 03, 2022, 07:08:06 AM
The Lakers today seem to be close to making a deal that will get rid of Russell Westbrook and get them Mike Conley...  I'm not sure how they plan to pull off this wizardry but apparently they're getting close enough for people to be making reports about it.  Granted Mike Conley isn't exactly a young guy either, but his game is less centered around athleticism so it might be a step in the right direction for the Lakers.  Although not ideal...

I guess that's what the rumors is, but I think the Lakers will have to get more out of WB trade, Conley will not be enough.

If I'm the Lakers management, will want to keep WB this season, and see how he does with a healthy Bron and AD and with a new coach, just saying.

Jazz for sure have a lot of picks now, it's just a matter of being lucky and get a great player. If we look at OKC, they are still in the rebuilding phase. They got Chet, but he was injured so the gamble hasn't paid yet.
1753  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin do $19k again before a bull market? on: September 02, 2022, 01:30:03 AM
I think is more possible than many people guess. We saw huge price movements around covid period, like you can remember we dropped below 10k. I feel like if traders feel like bitcoin is not profitable they can create sell walls and bulls will not break those walls. Although as I mentioned in different threads its better to start accumulating early. At one point Bitcoin will do huge jump like 2x and missing the train will feel awful.

I'm not sure if we can compare it pre-Covid and post-Covid, yes we dropped because of the news but we get up so fast as well. As compare to right now, bear market is still with us and there is no recovery.

We are just trading above $19k and possible to go down again. I think the next barrier is $22k, if we can get on that price then maybe we will have some respite this month of September and then hopefully we can go back to the price of $25k at least.
1754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 02, 2022, 12:35:34 AM
Utah are rebuilding.

The most insane rebuilding I think I've witnessed so far. They are giving up their young and currently prime 25-year-old key scorer for future draft picks. I don't see how rebuilding takes place on that decision to trade their main scorer. Rebuilding with young cores isn't really an effective way to compete in the league.

If only they surround Mitchell with good role players instead, then that's what I called rebuilding.

I hope their decision will really bring a good future for the Utah Jazz. Cavaliers, I think the winner of this trade.

Well they have given Gobert and then Mitchell, so for sure it's a huge change in the Salt Lake City as this season we will see a brand new team. And I also wouldn't be surprised if Clarkson, Bogdan and Conley and veteran Rudy Gay in the trading block prior to the start.

Seems that Utah win this one? agree or disagree?

As mentioned, they got lots of options and hopefully they got lucky those those draft picks. This is like OKC all over again, when they traded, WB and then PG and get a lot of future picks.

It will be a very long rebuilding process since they are starting from scratch. We cannot tell yet if it is a win for Utah. I guess when their picks comes in and they have good ones, not bust, then we can say they won the trades.

I wonder what prompted Jazz to rebuild this extreme. Since Gobert - Mitchell tandem is not working, I thought they would pick one and build around him and trade the other one. But they chose to rebuild from scratch. Did they really think Donovan Mitchell cannot give them a ring or at least get them to a finals? Or there is another reason unknown to us.

Coach replaced, Gobert and Mitchell is gone, yeah looks like they are going to rebuild from scratch. Obviously, the tandem is not working they can't even go the finals with that strong line up of them. They are complete and yet they always fail and it's better fo the management as early as this season to take that big risk. I think they have admitted already that Mitchell is not going to give them the ring and the surrounding players are not also  responding to Mitchell and Gobert.
1755  Bitcoin / Legal / National Police of Ukraine takes down cyber crime group on: September 01, 2022, 05:56:46 AM
According to this report, the The National Police of Ukraine (NPU) takes down a cyber crime group that targets victims of crypto fraud and appearance that they are going to be help by this people. Take note that this is group is like a call center, they phone their potential victims and then they spoof the phone numbers of Banks so it look genuine outside.

And then they will ask those people to send money in account where the groups have control of. And so obviously, there will be no "commissions"s for this victims, except that it's a double whammy for them.

Quote
Investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine together with the SBU blocked a criminal scheme of misappropriation of funds of citizens of Ukraine and European Union countries under the guise of exchange trading in cryptocurrency, securities, gold and oil.

For the operation of the cross-border fraudulent mechanism of misappropriation of funds, the organizers used high-tech equipment and software, which allows to change the phone numbers of the attackers to the numbers of state banking institutions.

In addition, the members of the group, using the contact databases of foreign citizens, against whom similar fraudulent actions were previously committed, on behalf of the so-called "Community of cryptocurrency brokers" offered victims to return the stolen cryptocurrency for a "commission".

After receiving consent to return the lost money, people were sent details for transferring the "commission" to the accounts of the participants in the criminal scheme. After receiving the funds, communication with the "brokers" was interrupted and payments were not made.

1756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: global stock markets are under bearish pressure on: September 01, 2022, 01:27:20 AM
Wall Street tumbled on weekend trade after Fed Chair Jerome Powell's speech in Jackson Hole, which signaled that the US central bank would continue to raise interest rates to tame inflation, dashing investors' hopes of a gentler rate hike path.
My question is will this have any impact on cryptocurrency projects

Admit it or not, crypto and stocks are somewhat correlated, so when stocks tumbled, crypto follow as what we have seen after this raise interest hike because it really doesn't sound good for investors. But for us, the more money is being printed then, probably some of it will go into crypto market. Not saying it's good to see it that way, money printing by the government, but they have to do something that sometimes it will benefit us.

And 2-3 days after the announcement, the price seems to level around $20k'ish. At least at the end of the month we didn't see below or new lowest low as what we heard others predicting. And altcoin market too might recovered next month.
1757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Jamaine Ortiz - October on: September 01, 2022, 12:58:21 AM
Seeing Loma and Haney in one ring would really be exciting though it will also be a big challenge for the both of them. Haney might really be the bettor favorite but I think Lomo would really show off his aggressiveness to beat down Haney. Loma vs Ortiz would be another opportunity for Loma to strengthen up his stamina in preparation for him to face Haney in the future.
This is my thoughts exactly. My money is on Lomachenko. For me, he possess the qualities of a good boxer. Unlike Ortiz, he has a better Boxing IQ and ring generalship. During the match, I expect that he’ll be able to pick up the pace to an intense level. This will in turn expose cracks in Ortiz ring IQ that should bring about mistakes in the ring. I see this match as a prep fight for Loma. The real deal is going to be with Haney.

I wouldn't bet my money against Lomachenko either because that's very unwise to do Grin
I also have no doubts that Lomachenko got this and he has the upper hand in this fight even if Oritz is younger and has the height and reach advantage. I'd say that those advantages that the latter have won't mean that much compared to Lomachenko's IQ in the ring. Also, there's a good probability that this fight could end in TKO/KO rather than a decision.

There are a lot of boxers that fought Lomachenko in their prime, with the height and reach advantage bust still lost to him. It just shows that Loma is really above those boxers, his trainer alone was un-orthodox, we haven't seen that kind of trainings before, it's not just his skills, but like the reaction time, it's just like watching Steph Curry doing his drills but not with a basketball, but some other training to improved his skill set, like decision making that why he has  big boxing IQ. Right, this fight could end in a TKO/KO and won't go to the judges scorecard.

He is one of the best in the boxing world, very entertaining to watch, and what I like about him is he does accept challenges and he proved most of the time that he is the best. Though he lost to Lopez, but if there's a chance they will have a rematch, I think Loma could win and maybe trilogy will happen.

Loma is not 100% in the Lopez fight that's why he lost. And look at his comeback fight, Nakatani and Commey, two biggest name in the division and then he knock them out.

So most likely, Lomachenko is still on path of his goal to unify all the belts or get it from either Haney or Kambosos again. Technically those are the belts he held prior to the Lopez lost. And I agree that he somewhat put a different training perspective and that is why he is one step ahead of his opponents.

NEW: Today, we’re suing Michael Saylor - a billionaire tech executive who has lived in the District for more than a decade but has never paid any DC income taxes - for tax fraud.

Going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. Settle it? Fight it out in court? Something else?

I have no idea on how legit it really is and what may or may not be true, but I can see it creating a shitstorm for Microstrategy in general. Having him out as CEO can show they were beginning to clean house.

-Dave

What's interesting is that you wake up and finding out that you have been sued thru Twitter.  Grin

For those who are interested on the official documents here are the links:

https://oag.dc.gov/sites/default/files/2022-08/2022-08-22%20Complaint%20in%20Intervention_0.pdf

As per the documents, Saylor and his company Microstrategy has created an elaborate scheme to defraud DC of taxes amounting to $25 - 100 million. The scheme created an illusion that Saylor lives in Florida a a state without personal income tax.

And it is also take noting that Saylor that this is not the first time that he has been used for defrauding DC, there were whistleblowers who come forward and represented by Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, filed a lawsuit against Saylor.

https://oag.dc.gov/sites/default/files/2022-08/Tributum%20v.%20Saylor%20-%20DC%20FCA%20Complaint_0.pdf

And after reviewing it, the OAG decided to file it's own case against Michael Saylor and his company Microstrategy which is the co-defendant here.

1759  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for August on: August 31, 2022, 03:18:06 AM
And so we all got it wrong again, we started very bullish in the first 2 weeks and then last week we have seen the price going down from $25k-$21k. And now it is still going down, the whole crypto market cap is way below the magic numbers of $1 Trillion. So I guess with the Fed and the Mt. Gox news, we are still going to continue with the pain of this bear market at least for the month, and who knows what is going to happen as we enter the last 4 months of this year.
It's going to drop to $15k soon. No one wants to buy BTC at over $20k price if they know Mt Gox will release the money soon. People would dump the thing and move on. They've been waiting for the Mt Gox money for too long already.
And FED hints are already showing about the next hike rate. Honestly, BTC investors ain't stupid. They know the price isn't great in the upcoming days. Everyone loves BTC and wants to buy it but only when it sells at cheap. I'd love to buy more BTC at the 15k price range as well. Call me fuder or whatever but you've DCA'd in the BTC too early. Market's supply and demand decide the price.

$15k? we've gotten over the psychological barrier of $20k again, so no I'm not seeing it to drop $15k or at least new lows for this year.

It's the last day of August and hopefully it will be a green candle (looks like it), but just very unfortunate that we are very bullish even going as high as $25k but then in the last week or so the price continue to go down hitting $19k.

So let's forgot about this month and so looking forward for September to be bullish and hopefully @tokeweed will have a new thread for us to make our speculations.

I have been trading since 2017 and ride a lot in crypto and forex rollercoaster. I earned my fortune in 2020 bull run and lost everything.

I am here to share this bcaz, i get out of that depression frustration and misery.
I have again starting trading and came here to share my past and get some valuable knowledge from fellow traders.

thank you/ dhanyawaad for reading my post.

Sorry to hear that mate, yeah as we have said, crypto trading is like a journey, there will be ups and downs along the way but you have to keep running. Hopefully you are doing ok now, and have a lot of lessons to share to us specially on how to take care of our Bitcoin because that is a huge amount to lost in trading. Right after the bull run it was obvious that the price plummet and maybe you are doing leverage trading? Anyhow, hope that we can hear your experience so that those new in the game will not have to go to that just to understand how the market works and how you are going to make a lot of profit and maybe learn how to sustain it as well.
