Definitely a good tune up fight for  Loma just to clear things up on the issues about Loma ducking against Haney. Also, this would be a good preparation for Loma moving forward to the Haney fight to avoid any reasons if Haney wins because Loma has never stepped up in the boxing ring for quite some time.
Nevertheless, hope after their respective fight they'll finally face each other more prepared.
I don't think that Loma is ducking Haney, it was just that George Kambosos activated the rematch clause so there's nothing that Haney can do but to honor that. Besides, he has beaten Kambosos already so we might see him doing the same in the rematch.

And it's good for Loma to have a tune up fight first, maybe he is eager to comeback, but he should prepare for the bigger fight later. So Ortiz could be a test for him. This is also good for Ortiz as we might see how he fight and he will be exposed with his name.

Of course, after the rematch then maybe both can challenge each other for a big fight. Who knows, maybe it will happen this year and it will be one of the most anticipated fight. Loma vs Haney, it's hard to choose the winner but I have a feeling that Haney will be the favorite in the betting sites.

Seeing Loma and Haney in one ring would really be exciting though it will also be a big challenge for the both of them. Haney might really be the bettor favorite but I think Lomo would really show off his aggressiveness to beat down Haney. Loma vs Ortiz would be another opportunity for Loma to strengthen up his stamina in preparation for him to face Haney in the future.

We already have a date in this fight, it will be October 29 (updated the title as well) at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater. For sure New Yorkers are going to be happy that the fight is going to be held there as we can see it is a sporting hub .

Take note though that the Haney vs Kambosos rematch will happen on October 16, so by the end of the month, we will know who will fight who for the lightweight belts.

Yes, I also have the same thoughts that it will still be Devin Haney hands are going to be raised against George Kambosos. And then the much anticipated Loma vs Haney will begin.

But I'm not sure if that fight will happen at the end of the year. It's going to be Christmas so this guys need to be with their families at least till January, so maybe Feb-April might be a good time for this fight, not trying to preempt things but this is what we wish to see.

Jamel Herring is past his prime when he fought Ortiz if you look at their fight he is not the same Herring we've seen Ortiz is just lucky that he fought a fighter who is on the brink of retirement I don't think it will happen here Ortiz is fast quick and strong and up and coming prospect, but Loma is still in his prime and very eager to get back the title he lost to Kambosos, I think we're going to have a very good fight but I expect Loma to fully dominate this fight from start to finish, Loma knows what's at stake on this fight.
Yet Ortiz experience a tough fight even Herring is indeed in his later days in boxing , he still manage to show the man how to fight a real champion even in his retirement age .

____________________________________________

Will be looking for this fight as Lomachenko is one of the toughest in this division and wondering how this  fight will end in the next 2 months more.

This may not be cherry-picking in a different sense because this kid remains unbeaten. Although he is far from becoming a star especially with his lack of powerful punches, he still has a lot of potential. But in one sense, especially if we consider this as simply a tune-up fight for Loma, then this is a cherry-pick fight. You don't bring your fighter in a lion's den for his tune-up fight. A tune-up fight is supposed to be a guaranteed win for your fighter because a bigger battle is coming. It is just a match to condition his body.
They may have picked the right fighter for his tune fight because he will be up against possibly the winner of the Kambosos - Haney rematch or how about a fight against Ryan Garcia, he needs a tough undefeated, unfamiliar name to be his tune fight for big fights, we all know how Loma fight, fast, quick good counter punching and lateral movement, Ortiz has a big task ahead of him, if he finds a counter like Teofimo Lopez did then he can give Loma a good fight, a good fight is what Ortiz can give but I doubt he can pull out an upset, Loma is motivated like his compatriot Usyk.

Ortiz indeed has a very big task in front of him. But of course he could learn a lesson or two from Lomachenko's defeats especially his recent loss to Teofimo Lopez. Of course even Teofimo is hard to copy. Ortiz is so far from reaching what Teofimo has already reached, but he could try learn a strategy or two from that fight and who knows he could give Loma a good fight. At the end of the day, Ortiz has a win-win deal with this even if he will lose.

But one factor that contributes to Loma losing the fight against Lopez is that he can't pull the trigger because he has a shoulder injury.. And you can watch the fight and see that somewhat he is very reluctant in throwing punches, and he just started to get into his groove in round 7 but it was too late as Lopez has compiled points already in the judges scorecard. So I would say that there are still no blueprint to beat a healthy and prime hi-tech Loma.

Yes, there's probably no easy way to try beating a fully conditioned and healthy Lomachenko. Well I guess Salido defeated him when he was at his best shape years ago but not really in a convincing manner. Lopez won convincingly but that was against a Loma that was still in the process of recovering from an injury. But Lopez was good.

I remembered seeing a Loma fight years ago in which his hand got injured in the middle of the fight but he managed to continue and won with only one fully functioning hand. I can't remember who he's against in that match but this fighter is really of a different kind.

Ortiz will have to give his everything against what could be his best opponent possible.

Nah, Salido was a dirty fighter in the first place, he keeps on hitting Loma below the belt, and since Loma was then an unknown (yes, he might be known for his outstanding amateur record, but not yet in pro) and this is his second fight. And Salido came in overweight in this fight, LOL, that's how tricky and dirty this boxer is.

Not sure who you are referring to, maybe Linares or someone. Yes, and maybe we can say that his background in amateur, 396-1, was really instrumental in him to be in a different level, the "Hi Tech" that we know him right now.

Lomachenko, as far as we know, is the godfather of the children of another Ukrainian boxer, Oleksandr Usyk, and his fight will take place much later than Usyk's fight, so he may well support his compatriot and win. However, considering that Ortiz fully justifies his nickname as technical and he has not lost yet, so Lomachenko will have to try very hard.

I think its Ortiz who should try to work here, he is the underdog and he is up against a very skilled, quick with a good generalship he is fighting the kind of boxer that he has not fought in his whole career, Loma has fought fighters like or better than Ortiz in the past, he has an injury when he fought Lopez, that is why he lost the fight, if we will see a healthy Loma we can see similar fights like the Commey fight, a healthy Loma can beat any great boxer.

Indeed this will be a huge test for Ortiz since some reply here stated that Ortiz hasn't fought any decent fighter yet, let alone Loma who is a very skilled one.  Ortiz should prepare and study Loma closely in order for him to at least match the pace of Loma if not outpaces him.  We may think that this is the same as a walk in the park for Loma but we can't tell if that will be the case since I think Ortiz will be fully prepared for this fight.  I am sure no boxer wanted his career to be blemished.

Ortiz may have not lost a fight in his career yet but this time will be much different as Loma is not that easy to defeat and the latter has been through fights that molded him into what he is now, Ortiz should be careful because he could pave the way for Loma's comeback and scathe his record. Well, if Ortiz is that determined then he have to prepare hard just to defeat Loma to have a chance in fighting the champions soon.

If he wants to add good hypes in his resume, beating Loma is one of the best thing that he can do and will open a big door for him

to have a good money fight that will bring more opportunities. Maybe a title fight will come on his way after beating Loma, knowing

how the influence of social media can bring to his career, he just need to prepare hard to take down Loma and it will surely bring him up.

Surely that will open lots of opportunities for Ortiz if he can manage to defeat Lomachenko but that won't come easy as we know how Loma fights in the ring and his IQ is much different compared to an average boxer. Ortiz's only advantage is that Loma might start easy as the latter will likely feel the fight first from inactivity but after that, we may see a blow-by-blow fight and that is if Ortiz can withstand it if the fight drags longer.

It will be another exciting fight to expect if ever both will win and the promoters will negotiate for this two, maybe there are people who are really anticipating for this possible fight to happen and they are willing to put their money for both fighters, too early though as both needs to prepare for separate fights that they will going to face, we never know if they can easily beat their opponents or it will go to the different side, it's boxing and there are many history if upset.

As long as they will prepare well and the determination to win is in them both, the chance or edge it is on their side.

Not possible because both Haney-Kambosos and Lomachenko-Ortiz fight will happen in the same month of October and I think the resting time and preparation to make another fight this year is somehow impossible. Maybe Haney and Loma (if both will have a victory in their respective fight) can lock a fight this year then they can make the fight happen somewhere in the 1st quarter of 2023.

Maybe Haney and Loma (if both will have a victory in their respective fight) can lock a fight this year then they can make the fight happen somewhere in the 1st quarter of 2023.

Yeah, as long as they won their respective bouts, negotiations are very easy since they are in the same stable, under Top Rank. So perhaps the best schedule will be 1st quarter of 2023, at least that time and hopefully the economy is better so that casual fans have some money to buy because I consider this a mega-fight as well.

Hopefully we can see how Loma trains for this fight, you can see a good video here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRweh8fT4M8.

Loma vs Haney, it's hard to choose the winner but I have a feeling that Haney will be the favorite on the betting sites.

Fighting Lomachenko in lightweight is an honor to any boxer in the same division and it will be fun as well to see Loma and Haney fighting, but these things are quite premature for now because there are other boxers as well who would like to face Haney including Tank but things has changed now as Loma is coming back. For now, let's watch their respective fights first and for this thread, I'll be siding with the veteran boxer, Lomachenko.

It would be a very interesting fight, if we happen to recall what Haney stated about Lomachenco way back 2020, he said that he can beat Lomachenco if the fight between them happens[1].  Hopefully when their next fight happens to be in their favor (both Loma and Haney win), the boxing council consider scheduling a fight between Lomachenko and Haney. I think that fight between these two great boxers has long been due.

Loma vs Ortiz would be another opportunity for Loma to strengthen up his stamina in preparation for him to face Haney in the future.

Well. this fight is not a joke either.  Ortiz record is still undefeated so he will do his best to keep it clean while giving him prestige if ever he defeats Loma.

Yes and it's a privilege because Loma is one of the best lightweight we have right now, and even if Lopez has beaten him, still, his training and fights are worth to watch,, specially if he and Haney will see action next year.

It's premature but just our speculation, I mean this is a dream match, Loma vs Haney. And hopefully we can see this two and no more surprises or derailing of the fight. But we all know Loma, he is not underestimating anyhow and don't look ahead. His motivation is what is in front right now and that is Ortiz.

We are used to seeing Loma getting an easy win although it's a big fight, so maybe it's time for Loma to showcase his skills against a strong opponent like Haney. Both will have their respective fight, hopefully, they'll win on that so maybe next schedule will be them, if it's not gonna happen this year, then maybe early next year.

I think Haney will be Loma's biggest test in this career, more than Rigo (who is also a defensive fighter and one of the best Olympic champion that turn pro like him), or even Teo Lopez.

Haney is in his prime and we could consider him the best 135 lbs that we have right now, Ryan is all trash talk, Davis, jumping from 135-140 lbs and just looking for money fights, and Teo going up already. And obviously, Haney has all the belts and beat the man who beat Loma. So it will not be an easy fight if ever they faces each other.

Yeah, let us watch this upcoming fight then discuss the possibility of the Haney - Lomachenco fight later.  Who knows, there is always a possibility of an upset win in Boxing so we are not 100% sure that the next possible fight would be Loma vs Haney.

When it comes to popularity, it will be a boost for Ortiz to fight Lomachenko and if ever he wins, his reputation will be skyrocketed.

I think Haney will be Loma's biggest test in this career, more than Rigo (who is also a defensive fighter and one of the best Olympic champion that turn pro like him), or even Teo Lopez.

Well, probably that is the reason why Haney thought that he can beat Loma if ever they meet in the ring.

A strong fighter needs a strong opponent for him to showcase his real skills and strength in the ring. It must serve as a challenge for him but it will also show off his real potential at the same time. Loma has a good record already but showing more of his skills is something to look forward to.

Lomachenko has experience on his side, especially his career in amateur boxing, where he won 396 out of 397 fights, but he also has experience of defeats in professional boxing in the fight for the title, as it was with him in the fight with Lopez in 2020.

Yes and we have seen that experience really help him, and if I'm not mistaken, he fought very early for a belt and it didn't bother him at all because of the numbers he put up in the amateurs.

But that's history already, he had belts in the professional, suffered his first defeat in the hands of Lopez, and now making another comeback to claim his old belts. But his first step is to win against Ortiz on the 29th and then wait for the winner of Haney vs Kambosos.
