1746  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Unable to see all miners on: May 08, 2015, 11:18:00 PM
Hey everyone..

I have a lot of USB miners that I want to setup for solo mining..
(29x 336MH/s miners)

But I am not able to  find all the mining devices.

I am using powered USB hubs and a fan cooler.

Can someone help me set this up?

Thank you Smiley

~Hamuki

Hey,

You say you are not able to find all devices? But some of them are visible?

Maybe some of them are just jammed?  Smiley

BTW. You are mining for fun I understand? Smiley I hope you don't think that you will make any profit. Those miners are useless for mining purposes. Only use might be for fun or/and some experiments Smiley

I have a pending withdrawal of 0.165 btc or something like that. I would steer clear until this is resolved.

Can I ask from how long it is pending?

Worst time to buy.

Do you know what "worst" means ? If so, then why was when the price was above 1k a better time to buy ?

Above 1 k was THE worst time to buy, obviously.

Not for long. Choo choo.

There is always a good time to buy bitcoin.  Price doesn't matter Smiley Smiley

When in few years price will go sky high people will tell that buying @1k  was a pleasure Smiley

1752  Economy / Scam Accusations / Phishing all around - Be Aware! on: May 07, 2015, 09:36:34 PM
Hey,

I am receiving tons of phising/scam/spam e-mails, last day I received something like this:

Quote
Roslinpl,
On Friday May 8th we will be changing out the Bitcoin (BTC) wallet. There is no risk to your balances however all BTC deposit addresses will be removed. Please do not deposit to your old BTC address on or after May 8th we will not be able to retrieve coins from the old wallet. Once the change is complete you will be able to generate a new address and continue as usual.
This change is to enhance the security of our wallets as well as allow for a future service which includes an optional multisig cold storage service.
Thank You,
The [[SCAMMY COMPANY]] Team

Be aware of those kinds of e-mails. And if you don't know the site and you don't remember that you were creating any account over there - just delete e-mail and never visit that site.

Best regards.

Am I the only one sceptic here about the pump that accompanied (?) the ITBIT / GBTC news? I expected a lot more buying regarding this.  Undecided
I expected more especially from GBTC going live.
Makes you wonder what needs to happen to start another rally.
We are sort of stuck in no man's land atm, neither bear nor bull are particularly happy right now.

We need real exchanges. Regulated! Not those jokes like finex or okcoin who are manipulated as f*.

Bitstamp is slowly coming back... but it will take some time. Coinbase will never be a market leader.

What do you mean by "regulated"? Smiley

We need good and secure exchanges, but how you want to regulate any of them? Smiley

Beware op is a scammer

Hey,

can you prove that? I am not saying that he's or he's not. But I am interested how come you know that he is a scammer for sure?
1755  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: New to the Board - Looking to Sell BTC on: May 07, 2015, 09:23:29 PM
-How can I determine if a user on this forum is worth transacting with?  Is there a feedback/rating system?

Every forum member has got his trust rating. Look on the left, there is "Trust" rating visible below member's nickname. Also you can visit his profile to check it.

For example here is yours: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=511554

-I heard that if you sell via PayPal and ship some sort of physical document, you are covered under seller protection (i.e. ship a btc address and then an email to confirm receipt of the document).  Is this true?

I don't know anything about that. Sorry.

-What are some of the best options (both safe and timely) to sell BTC and make a profit?
Buy when it's cheap, sell when it's up. Smiley There are no good options to make a quick profit on Bitcoin trading.

Best regards.
1756  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 07, 2015, 08:30:59 PM
So how far do you think we'll go? $270? $280 perhaps?

> 300 in < 2 weeks

You might be right. I remember very well May 2014. But things might not looks same this year.

In my opinion we will not see any big changes in the price pew BTC for next few months.

Best regards.
1757  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Saying hello to Bitcoin fans! on: May 07, 2015, 07:47:26 PM

Wrong information. Higher Tx fee does NOT make a Tx confirmed faster. It is dependent on how fast miners are finding blocks. Miners generally include all Tx available in mempool that offers standard Tx fee in LIFO mode.

Your information is wrong... and it's hard to believe that Senior Member don't know that.

You are trying to tell me that while paying higher fee your transaction won't be confirmed faster?

Well..

Higher transaction fee = higher priority = transaction will be confirmed faster

priority = sum(input_value_in_base_units * input_age)/size_in_bytes

So yes - my information is right - pay higher fee to increase a priority of your transaction.

If you want to argue - send 0.001 with 0.0001 fee and send 0.001 with 0.0002 fee one after another. Then tell me which transaction was confirmed faster Smiley

Quote from: Foxpup
This is way Bitcoin was always meant to work: more fees = faster confirmations; less fees = slower confirmations. At first, when transaction volume was lower, it didn't work that way; most or all transactions were confirmed quickly regardless of fees, and apparently some people were fooled into thinking that was normal, and now that the fee system is working properly, people are complaining that it's broken.

Higher fee paid makes it more likely you will be in a block found sooner.  But you are correct it will not speed up blocks being solved.

We were not talking about block solving speed. We are talking about speed of transaction = time period from when you send to when receiver can use received coins.

(...)
The only thing I don't like at bitcoin is transaction time. Why 10 minutes?
(...)

What about hacker at Bitstamp who paid (i think) 1 BTC to transfer bitcoin instantly to his wallet?
Was this huge fee responsible for so quick transaction?

yeah it would be first in the queue in this case(or at least chance ar every high), but you still need to wait 10 minute as average(for the first confirmation), you can't do nothing about that

Sorry, but you are not right ...

Just some examples of recent transactions:

https://blockchain.info/tx/cc61ecf31e689ba016f83bf56f00d9ac7f499047a5c08436c703b436bee4b0ae - 1 confirmation in 17 seconds.
https://blockchain.info/tx/414d29157b763b0ef5c885c8c72d4942cff31bd11b94f1c1b9b336b9794b957c - 1 confirmation in 1min11seconds

So well .. sometimes 1st confirmation need just seconds - when your priority is high your transaction will be confirmed in the upcoming block.

Also I know that sometimes it takes more than 30min to get 4 confirmations even when higher fee is included.

But point is - it's not ~10min but it depends on situation and paying higher fees will get your transaction confirmed faster than smaller transaction sent in same time as yours.

Best regards.

Hello everybody!
I'm huge fan of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies since 2013.
I was reading this forum for over a year, but didn't register (don't ask me why)  Grin
In this time I had only good experiences with bitcoin as payment method. I read lots of people got scammed...that's a shame.
The only thing I don't like at bitcoin is transaction time. Why 10 minutes?  Roll Eyes
If it would be like dogecoin, it would be fantastic. Is this time fixed, or can be changed?

It's not always 10 min.

And I don't think that this is a problem ... you can always pay higher transaction fee if you like to confirm your transaction faster.

It's still a lot faster than bank transfers Smiley

Best regards.
