Pretty poor week for me and I'm falling further down the table week by week. Thought I had 1-1 down for the game last night but turns out I went for 1-0 instead. Would have had a perfect score in the Spurs game but Vertonghen annoyingly went and got the winner in injury time.

Arsenal were a sorry sight. It hurt even me to watch them, because this type of win (the only game KDB has ever scored more than 1 btw) is going to pump City full of energy and resolve.

So, @toma, good luck. It never is over till the fat lady sings. And yes, that goes for Liverpool too. Just one game at a time. I'll be happy to get past the next 5 games to break City's crazy record from 2017 though (best ever start to season with 20 wins and 1 draw)!

Meanwhile, Wanda again ah!

Arsenal were terrible (and have been the past few games), but City treated the second half like a training session. 3-0 up at half time and didn't manage to score another was pretty poor on their part.

Mostly boring games this weekend, especially the 3'o clock kicks off. Man City vs Leicester is the only game worth watching on Saturday, but I think City will probably win it quite comfortably. I hope I'm wrong though. Would still rather Leicester come second.
1742  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 14, 2019, 05:05:48 PM
Liverpool were very sluggish. The 2-0 win didn't tell the full story really. Watford scuffed a few sitters and 2-2 would have been a fair score really. Two great goals from Salah though. Leicester were also mediocre and Norwich probably deserved the win there. Shame about Vardy's goal being given as a keeper own goal to put a knife in his record goal run which has now been cut short. I'm sure Liverpool fans are ecstatic with the result though. Anyone backing Arsenal to take points away from City tomorrow and finally put the nail in the coffin for them? Not sure I'd back them to win but I think it will be close. City is probably done at this point anyway. Might as well concentrate on the Champion's League or the other domestic cups.
1743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 14, 2019, 10:18:08 AM
1st place vs bottom of the table in today's opening match with Liverpool against Watford. Is anyone going for a huge scoreline? 4. 5. 6 goals or more? Will Liverpool put a weakened team out or not take any chances? I think they could afford to as even a Liverpool B-team or under 19s squad should beat Watford but maybe they don't wan't to risk it and give Leicester any boost. With that being said, I don't think they'll play their full strength squad and probably bench a couple of players but it's not like there's any Champion's League games to save them for right now. I'll be watching it either way along with Leicester on the 3'o clock kicks off which also could have another potentially large scoreline as Leicester are on fire at the moment and look to be the only viable title contenders currently since City dropped six points behind them now. Vardy is still chasing his consecutive goal record along with being the PL top scorer by quite a margin. I see Vardy having no problem scoring today but his potential goal record will probably cease with the Man City and Liverpool games back to back next, though if Leicester can get points from them two games it will certainly make the league a lot more interesting.

Well, I was going to be surprised if anyone got those results right, even the outcomes, as the both the strong favourites lost, but surprised to see that Brainboss was the only person to get points and from a correct score as well. Shame about Sheff losing. I was hoping they could continue to be a threat but maybe their run is over now, especially with the big games they've got coming up.

Another VAR travesty in Sheffield game. Line referee lifts the flag and Sheffield players stop the play. Shelvy continues to score the easy goal and even apologizes to the referee that he didn't hear the whistle. VAR kicks in and says goal is valid.

Ok, this is not VAR mistake, the only guilty party is line referee who shouldn't lift the flag unless he is 100% sure but Premier League really implemented this technology in worst possible way. It works much better in all other competitions.

Did the referee actually blow the whistle? It looked like he allowed the play to go on, but this sort of situation does raise questions. Should the play be allowed to continue and then do a VAR check? Should the linesman keep his flag down and allow play to go on but then put their flag up after the attack has finished or if a goal has been scored. It's clear the Sheff players actually stopped and even the keeper sort of seemed to half-ass it as he wasn't sure. It must be incredibly difficult to see these sorts of close call offsides and it's going to be pretty disastrous if linesman call it and then VAR shows it to be an incorrect decision. What then? A free kick or drop ball to the attacking team is largely useless as all momentum is lost and the other team can regoup.
1745  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 03, 2019, 02:54:04 PM
I'm sure that's what everybody said when they won the league. It's unlikely anyone will catch Liverpool but I wouldn't say it's in the bag and Liverpool shouldn't think like it is either as that's how slip-ups happen. They were very lucky in their last two games and could have dropped points to two pretty poor teams. Injuries can happen as well. Let's see how Liverpool would do without van Dijk or one of their strikers. Leicester are also playing both City and Liverpool back to back this month. If they can win both those games or even get a couple of points things might be looking a lot different. No Champions League games for them to worry about either.

I agree with your thoughts. 11 points lead in start of December don't guarantee EPL trophy. December will be crazy month in EPL and it can be decisive in title race. In February serious games in Champions league will begin and teams won't be able to focus just on EPL. Liverpool had few very difficult wins against weak teams, it shows that they aren't unbeatable. 2 loses and City is back on track. On the other hand, City don't have right to make mistakes anymore.
And yeah, few years ago everyone said same things about Leicester as @LFC_Bitcoin said now. But now their situation is different. Back then they were leading all season long, now they are in chasing position. But I would love to see them ending season in Top 4.

Didn't Liverpool throw away a similar lead last season? Don't think it was by as much as they have now but anything is possible. The December/early Jan games sure will be interesting. Manchester derby this week, Leicester playing both City and Liverpool back to back. City vs Sheff United could be interesting given the latter's form right now and then they play Liverpool the round next on 2nd Jan. Lots of points to be won and lost so there could be a shake up. The table is quite close outside the top three. Man United are 9th with 18 points but they're only potentially six points from a relegation place and I'd really love to see them struggling with that haha.

A lot of people haven’t got their picks in for tonight - come on !
Let's see if a small bump to put this thread back to the top will get the attention of those who haven't made their picks (:   (Today I'm expecting a draw in the first game, and a comfortable 0-3 win for the Citizens).

Yeah, I've for the bore draw on the Palace game. Should be a comfortable win for City but gone for 0-2 instead.
1746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 02, 2019, 03:30:30 PM
I agree with you, Leicester hasn't enough capacity to win the league. Especially when they have LFC and City as title opponent.

I'm sure that's what everybody said when they won the league. It's unlikely anyone will catch Liverpool but I wouldn't say it's in the bag and Liverpool shouldn't think like it is either as that's how slip-ups happen. Edit: There we go. No points from both matches.
Arsenal 2 - 2
Wolves 1 - 1

I went for both draws on the 2'o clock games. Got one scoreline correct and just the outcome on the Arsenal match. Went with both 2-0 home wins on the 4'o clock games so only got the Leicester outcome with their late goal luckily. Nice to see them still in the title race. I'd rather it be them chasing Liverpool than City for numerous reasons. I wonder how long Ollie is going to hang on at United? Drawing with Villa at Old Trafford is pretty bad. I noticed United practically had a b-team out and a few 18 year olds in the team/squad that I've never even heard of before. What's with that? Have they got a load of injuries? Might explain their current losses.

Don't forget there's games most days of next week starting Tuesday. Can't say there's any I'm excited about. Manchester derby on Saturday though. It's at City so they should turn United over but you never know  Cheesy.
1748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 30, 2019, 05:09:17 PM
What was Allison thinking? They were 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go. You don't need to be doing that sort of stuff. Then they went and scored anyway and now he's banned for a couple of games. Liverpool were lucky to hold onto the lead at the end.

Anyone else feel like Pep's time with City might be coming to an end? Not sure what else he can do, IMO not winning CL with the team they had the last few years is a travesty but perhaps both Pep and City need a new challenge. Don't want to jump on any bandwagon (if there even is one) but I'm not sure, looking at Pep when they have these "bad" games I'm not sure what to make of it.

I think that's pretty cynical thinking, but then again given the current climate of sacking managers for losing a few games or not winning anything it's probably more realistical than anything else. They're still in with a good shot at the CL and I'm sure that's what he's going to focus on now, but not winning it isn't a big deal given the strong competition from all around Europe and there's always next year. A Liverpool/City CL final would be great though.

Some great goals in the Liverpool game and De Bruyne  scoring a Yeboah  Grin. Surely Liverpool can't throw away this lead now. All they need to do is make it through the xmas/new year run of games and they should be good.

^  Yeah ffs.  My stream died before the free kick.

Edit:  Good bye title hopes Citeh.

Get dazn. Can't recommend it enough. Had it for a couple of weeks now and zero buffering or problems. IPTV streams are so inconsistent and laggy so it's worth paying the £100 for a year for a legit service.

Is it real! Newcastle beat Man City!

What game were you watching? They drew  Grin. That late equaliser cost me a perfect score but can't be mad when they're taking away points from Liverpool. Nobody actually went for the draw or the Newcastle win not unsurprisingly. Anyone watching the Liverpool game? Two headers scored from van Dijk to make it 2-0.

Don't forget to do your scores, peeps. There's 14 people that haven't done them yet. I know a couple like to leave it last minute but there's not normally this many still left. Don't forget there's games nearly everyday all next week as well.

Poch might wait for the Real job, if as expected Zidane goes in the summer. I do think he’e be much, much better than Ole at United, it’s kind of a poisoned chalice there with Fergie hanging around.

Why would Zidane go? I don't keep abreast of transfer news or speculation but I haven't heard anything about him wanting to leave. Real Madrid are currently joint first at the moment so I would be surprised if he left. Can't really see him anywhere else either. Maybe Manchester United if the timing's right. Or maybe City if Pep goes  Cheesy.

Arsenal sacked Emery, Ljungberg taking over short-term.

A smart decision, I was shocked when they hired him in the first place. That guy is the biggest clown in football.
I wanted him to remain there forever but he stayed longer than he should.

Who will they be getting now, no way they can get Poch and I don't see Nagelsmann or even Rodgers switching there at this point.

Poch will probably go to Man United when they inevitably get rid of Solksjaar unless someone else snaps him up in the meantime. United probably would have gotten rid of Ollie already if they had a decent replacement lined up but now Poch is free I'm sure there's been some talks. Don't see the point in getting rid of Emery either. Ljungberg won't do any better or likely whoever else they get. I wonder what are the odds of Wenger returning  Grin.

Not really any truly exciting potential matches this round, but might watch Newcastle v Man City just to see if Newcastle can take any points from it. Wolverhampton - Sheffield United might be interesting. Both teams are on fire this season and are only separated by a point.

Lewandowski  is on fire at the moment. 4 goals again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeeQ9sd7lmQ

F+++!

My 3 points on Galatasaray - Club Brugge ruined by the guests goal scored at '90+2  Angry (I had the 1:0 prediction on the pool...)
Than, Brugge got 2 red cards...
Simply... cannot believe it

And that gave me full 3 points Smiley

Too many good games at the moment can't decide what to watch...Switching between the games but will probably settle on multicast. I have a program with screen divided in 4 parts, currently showing Dinamo, Madrid, Juve and City. Only problem, there isn't enough time for snacks and beer.

Got me 1.5 for the draw.

What a bad decision by the ref and var team in the real - psg match. Should have been a red card and penalty, ref waved off the push on marcelo in real time so no idea why he would want slow motion footage of that as it will always look worse than it actually is.

Oh well, let's see what these last 30mins will bring  Lips sealed

Honestly, that flummoxed me. The push was light and Marcelo seemed to make a meal out of it. Another case of VAR looking for a reason to disallow something. If the ref doesn't blow for it they shouldn't be running games back to look for something. I've said this before but we're going to need a time machine since we're going back in time for games now. A red card is a red card. Could a player punch someone in the face, but it gets rescinded if there was a foul beforehand in the build-up?

I'm a UK resident that uses Coinbase and I've probably gone over the $20k and I didn't receive this. Was this a message you received via email or when you logged into your Coinbase account? As others have said, that's a US form and it's weird that they would send you that unless you've stipulated somewhere that you're a US resident in some capacity. That's why it looks fishy to me and possibly some sort of phishing attack if it's come via email. Coinbase's customer support is terrible so I wouldn't expect a answer from them but whether you keep using them or not is up to you. This shouldn't be anything to worry about if you're not a US citizen though so you could probably just ignore the form.

No way he would give us a freebie like that Smiley

Some nice games in this round. Mainly Barca-Dortmund and Real-PSG, both of which should have a few goals in it. Liverpool-Napoli would have been another one but Napoli is currently torn from the inside and I expect Liverpool to win this one easily.

Don't know whether to watch Real Madrid - Paris Saint-Germain or Juventus - Atlético Madrid tomorrow. Probably go for the Real game as I think it will be closer. Juve should win at home but I think PSG might grab the away win here. I'll definitely be watching the Barca V Dortmund match, but I'd also like to catch the Liverpool game. Might have to split screen it  Cheesy.

How much larger is Tottenham's chances to reach the finals with Mou around?  Larger than say, Bayern and Atletico?

Thinking of doing another prop...

They'll very likely make it out of the group but not sure I'd back them to go that far out of it, but I guess it's the luck of the draw. It would be funny if Spurs went on to win the whole thing but I;m not sure that would be good for Mou's ego. Maybe we'll see another Spurs v Liverpool final  Grin.

Spurs vs LFC final with Mou and Klopp...?  Yes please.  The build up alone would def be entertaining.  Lol.

But really, I think Mou's more pragmatic approach is more suited for tourney football.  And with Tottenham's squad...  Hmmmm.

I think that final would be another boring one. The semi's were so good it was kinda inevitable the final would be anti-climactic. I mean, those semis were probably two of the greatest comebacks in Champion's League history (apart from the Liverpool final win way back when).

Probably go for the Real game as I think it will be closer. Juve should win at home but I think PSG might grab the away win here.
They should win but they do have some issues with injuries. Alex Sandro is out. They don't really have a suitable replacement for him on the left back. Danilo and De Sciglio can fill his role but that's not it. De Ligt is doubtful having dislocated his shoulder on Saturday. It is being reported that he will play but in what shape will he be? Ronaldo is not fully recovered but should still play. Atletico is a tough opponent.

If Ronaldo is out I definitely won't be watching it. I usually do a bit of research and watch some tipsters analysis vids on youtube before my Champions League picks because I'm not that familiar with half the teams, but haven't this week so don't know whether to stick to my guns or see what they're saying and make some last minute changes. I could be wildly off or get lucky. It seems a handful of teams have also already qualified so maybe that will effect their line-ups and some teams may save players for their domestic games.
1755  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 26, 2019, 05:40:43 PM
Whoever said the FA needs to come up with fines for needless sacking? I'll support that.

I am not sure if I would support that, the way it is set up brings a bit more of drama to the game. I agree that some clubs are changing their managers way to often but that is sort of crime without victim. That manager who gets sacked usually gets full amount of money he would get if worked his whole agreed duration of the contract. In other words he gets full pay for 4 years of good job for actually doing 1 year of bad job. If that isn't a joke on his employer expanse (club owner) I don't know what is  Grin

There's enough drama as it is, but docking them points for sacking managers mid season will add drama for you. Teams are already docked points for things like financial mismanagement and I think they should start doing it for managerial mismanagement  Cheesy. Everybody knows in most cases sacking managers is pointless and achieves little to nothing other than instability at the club so I don't see why it's necessary in most instances. Does anyone think Ranieri should have been sacked? I never heard anyone say that was a good idea. Doubt you'll find many who think Poch should have gone either. Either see the season out with the manager you started with or pay the price. I really think the whole culture around managers being disposable needs to change because it's only going to get worse as they're easy fodder and targets to take the blame for the teams poor performances.
1756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 25, 2019, 08:46:56 PM
I’m not sure why Everton sack their manager all the time, they haven’t won a trophy since 1995. They're not a big club, I don’t know why they think they should be doing better? They don’t spend a lot, I’m not really sure where they think they should be. It’s just about par for the course as Everton.

Wasn't even aware of this, but it's getting ridiculous with the sackings. It's like managers are disposable and clubs can just get rid of them after they've lost a few games. Fergie would have been sacked before he could've even turned United into the behemoth they were for so long. Managers don't even get a chance to build their squads these days and managers coming in and out can't be good for teams. Like I said before, they should bring in some laws where there's some penalties for sacking managers mid season. Start docking teams points if they have to sack managers and it'll soon become a rarity and if you don't have faith in a manager to see out the season then they shouldn't be appointed in the first place. I could maybe understand the sackings if managers came and and did something ridiculous but most of the time it's just the chairmen and money-men behind the scenes who call for the heads based on a little bit of bad form. Newcastle are currently 2-0 down to Villa. Steve Bruce will be the next to go now  Roll Eyes.

What did everyone thing of the offside in the Chelsea game?

Honestly, they need to change the rules for this. So many great goals being over-turned for millimetres.

I still quite don't understand the offside rule perhaps, Is every body of the players that count or just the parts that can be allowed to score a goal with ? If the players hand count, then Sterling was clearly onside, and If the hand doesn't count, It's still not obvious that he was offside. I would love to be in support that goals like this should stand, but If it can be indeed proven that it was an offside (even by millmetres), allowing some goals to stand will lead to further controversies, imho.

Well I think it's any part of the body that can interfere with play makes it offside, hence why that was, but I guess the players hand can interfere with play if he handballs it or even if he uses his hands to pull the player back. Decisions like this make it ridiculous though. Is he meant to have eyes in the back of his head? I'd rather footballer players concentrate on the play/scoring a goal rather if they've become a millimetre offside that then VAR needs to take several minutes to forensically analyse.

Villa vs Newcastle tomorrow. Couldn't be less enthused about a game  Cheesy.
I gone with Aston Villa however this match could end up with a draw as well.

I've gone for the draw. Could go any way though.

I think those borderline situations should be counted as goal. If VAR referee needs to check the video more than let's say 5 times it means that offside is borderline and that goals should stand. I understand that is difficult rule to enforce but this is also bad. Who cares about offside measured in mm? If this continues players will start to cut their nails more often and start ordering shoes one number smaller  Grin

Well they use the terminology 'clear and obvious' but that, like the handball rule, is completely subjective.

Literally moments after I posted above, United pinched themselves and got 3 goals. Ruined my day, but yeah finally a VAR decision that gave the goal as deserved. I mean, seriously, I hate that all we talk about after a match is VAR when there was so much good football going on that should be our focus but how can you blame us for getting stuck on a stupid piece of tech?

It's always going to be controversial, especially when it's disallowing potentially match or tournament winning goals. It's only the first season with it so I'm guessing/hoping they'll tweak it as time goes on but I think I'd rather not even have it at this point. The game is already bogged down with stoppages and time-wasting and this is the worst thing for it.
1759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 24, 2019, 06:59:15 PM
Fair play to Manchester. They came back with three great goals in a little over 7 minutes but Sheff deserved that point as they dominated the entire game apart from the ten mins or so where Man U got the goals. Glad I got a point from the correct outcome as well. Also glad that VAR worked this time and they gave the goal. It was really looking like they might give it for handball but the correct decision was made in the end.

Villa vs Newcastle tomorrow. Couldn't be less enthused about a game  Cheesy.

Man United currently getting dominated by Sheff United lol. I had 1-1 but they're 2-0 down.

Wolves are cursing. They already have 2 goals lead and Bournemouth down to 10 men now. From here Wolves can expect a win from this match. I was thinking of a draw in this match it seems it will be too much to ask LOL

Damn it! Palace scored!!!
Liverpool 1 down!!!!

Edit: I think I love VAR LOL

Gods this VAR needs to be quicker than that though. To be fair, I couldn't have seen any foul at all. I did see Lovren fall to the ground, but I thought I couldn't see anything until VAR replay. Foul's a foul for sure, if there wasn't a push there's no way Lovren would have interfered and the goal would have stood. So yeah, we're saved by the foul. Phew.

Wolves got ahead and I can't see them losing this 2 goal lead to 10-men Bournemouth. Still need Pool and Leicester to score to bring my parlay home!

I want Liverpool to win and that decision gave me the correct score but VAR really needs to stop looking for things to dissalow the goal. VAR should only look into things if the team appeals. Otherwise we're going to have to wait minutes to kick off after every other goal.

I'm starting to believe Liverpool won't lose a single game this season. I think The Invincibles 3 will hit theaters next summer  Cheesy

I wouldn't put money on it. They were lucky to win that game and I'm sure they'll screw up at some point. The reverse City game will be a tough one.

What did everyone thing of the offside in the Chelsea game?

Honestly, they need to change the rules for this. So many great goals being over-turned for millimetres.
