Since you are the winner of speculation game of 10th year anniversary, you are not eligible to participate on this game for now. Smiley
The previous speculation game isn't subjective to be counted here. The rules of not being eligible is applied for only this & the same of future raffle of course. I guess he is fine since he didn't win a raffle of this series.

Sorry Heisenburg_Hunter, I didn't want to reply here; I wanted to take the discussion in the other thread but I guess it's appropriate here & hence, I have posted.
1762  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Beginner's guideline to Bitcoin Lightning Network on: January 02, 2020, 08:53:36 AM
However these concepts are hard to grasp for common folk, this won't be easy at all.
I have tested LN with testnet BTC and so far, it's very easy to use & hadn't face much of problem. I have done it with Eclair BTC wallet & I guess this one is very much user-friendly; even for a non-tech guy.
Quote
I see very little reason to use LN in most bitcoin transfers, others will try to (ab)use it for everything including a lambo...
Not true. LN can be used as wide variety of payments where we do transfer BTC in a regular basis. For instance; you can use LN in exchanges for liquidity of your BTC instantly or putting a purchase order of ETH(any alt) faster. Or you can also have the arbitrary opportunity with LN; transferring BTC from exchanges to exchanges made faster with LN. Bitfinex & some other exchanges accept LN payment now. You can also use LN with gambling sites.
Well, there are a lot of usage of LN; in daily life, where you used to purchase your daily necessaries could be a great place for lightning network payments.
No one will use LN for a bigger amount payment of course; LN is designed to focus on micro payments generally.
You have the privacy benefit as well; I'm not certain though but as far as I know, it's not that easy to trace a LN payment of course.

but you could also have paid the coffee long before going into the shop (such as from your workplace).
I don't know if people would be much of interested to pay advance for a coffee from workplace which is gonna be drunk after a while; Have you ever paid for such items with other available payment network? In my local, I could have paid advance with paytm but I doubt I would ever consider paying advance for a coffee; in fact, I wouldn't for anything other than ordering something online which require advance payment.
1763  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: btc need to buy on: January 01, 2020, 02:59:02 PM
This board isn't for buy/sell anything, it's rather a reputation board where you can post feedback/scam accusation of buyer/seller; with whom you did a deal.
Please move your thread to marketplace- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=122.0
You will find the option to move at the below of this thread.

Which city you are referring to, by the way? I'm not considering selling BTC at the moment but would not bother to sell some if you are in the same city as of me(Don't prefer F2F deal though since it's much risky). Check inbox, please.

1766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / David Chaum's XX Coin on: December 31, 2019, 01:23:30 PM
I wouldn't care much unless I didn't see the name David Chaum. If you have never heard of him; David Chaum is the inventor of digital cash- ecash.
I was surfing coinmarkecap & found the ads- David Chaum's xx Coin.
icodrops link- https://icodrops.com/elixxir/

I really have no idea if this has been discussed or shared earlier. For me, it's a new thing & I got interested because of the name only. I didn't have a look at their website even; it's still another piece of shitcoin for me.

1767  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrases, Private/Public keys, xpriv and xpub on: December 31, 2019, 10:01:10 AM
A Seed phrase is a collection of 12, 18, 24 words that are used to back up a wallet address. The words are generated using BIP 39 standard from a collection of 2048 words.
In electrum, you can get custom number of words as seed key. Don't know about other wallets & I am not certain if it has any limit; I have generated seed key with 15 words seed(extending 3 of custom words of mine). When we generate seed in Electrum, click on "Option" & put a tick on the popup box. In the next step, you will be asked for your custom words. As same, you will be asked for putting your seed & the custom words when you do verify the seed key at the second step.

I guess you must do some works in the thread. BOLD the sub-heading; I was having hard times finding out some terms from the thread.
1768  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: seed problem. Can not create new wallet Electron or restore wallet on: December 30, 2019, 03:35:06 PM
Maby i have hack-version? I know hackers are faking Electrum
Are you sure you have downloaded the wallet from- https://electrum.org/#download
Please verify the file once again- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4183993.0
If you are using a phishing version, your seed has likely been compromised.

If you have downloaded from the official website & were able to verify the wallet, you are fine.
1769  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Summary of Wallet balance and transactions -> grouping wallet addresses on: December 30, 2019, 01:07:35 PM
if i perform this, how can I consolidate the change balance into the "deposit balance"

is there an easy way to consolidate all the addresses into one?

Thank you all
I guess I didn't get you.
If you are talking about consolidate all the previous change into one; send all of your BTC into any one of your addresses. I guess you have a lot of inputs but that will not be a problem since the fee is very low now.

By the way, it's better if you use different change address for having privacy.
1770  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Freebitco.in scam or legit? on: December 30, 2019, 09:40:25 AM
It's a legit project. TheQuin is in charge of maintaining bitcointalk query; you can check it yourself here- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=319540.0
That's the official ANN thread.
Regarding the dot in (.in) domain, anyone can register a domain with  dot in extension. There's a risk of getting penalized by google & de-indexing the domain if the domain doesn't contain Indian stuff. Since freebitco.in doesn't reflect any product or content other than a gambling site; I guess there's no problem with that. Therefore, the owner can or can't be of India.
1771  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Summary of Wallet balance and transactions -> grouping wallet addresses on: December 30, 2019, 07:13:13 AM
If you want to have the change BTC on the same address of origin-

Go to setting
Click on transaction
In "Use change address" option, remove the tick.

Now, when you will send BTC, the change BTC will still remain in the same address from where you have sent; in fact, you will be using the address as change address. There will be no more a lot of change address.

Lets assume that I use https://blockexplorer.com/ is there any way I can simply check the overall wallet balance and transaction history?
It's not possible through an explorer. Wallet explorer may detect some of your addresses from same wallet as long as they already have been linked through transaction.

As a result, either people are afraid to register complaints or they are bashed by police if they try to do so.
Any kind of fraudulent activity with cryptocurrency is a cyber crime as well. I guess you can file a complaint with providing accurate information. It is straightforwardly documented that cryptocurrency crimes are cyber crime & these are subjected to file a complain. Since they are allowing complaint with cryptocurrency fraudulent activity, I guess the complainant will not get harassed, nor they will bash him.

1774  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [CFNP] Educational giveaway | guess first Bitcoin Block in 2020 [9.5 mBTC] on: December 28, 2019, 05:55:11 PM
.
So, estimated number of first block of 2020 is 610646

I am going to win the contest. Grin
I'm 33 blocks behind as per my calculation. Unless BTC get pumped to $8000, I don't have the chance to win anymore I guess & so do the others who predicted below 610550. You have a chance there though. By the way, the average time per block since then is ~10 minutes & 4/5 seconds which is a bit higher than the average.
1775  Economy / Reputation / Trying to spread malware on: December 28, 2019, 09:39:18 AM
Mine Cryptocurrency with a collection of Botnets 100 to 500,000 infected Computers. Cryptocurrency such as Ethereum, Monero, Litecoin can be mined with the malware. all you need to do is sit back and spread the malware to as much user computers you can get thus getting their Processors to mine Crypto directly to your wallets.

Contact ICQ: 719772573 for setup and inquiries
I guess he is trying to spread malware in the name of sharing a passive earning strategy; the strategy itself is unethical as well. I guess a red tag would save some newbie kids from falling into his trap.

I gotta review the journey here. It was great experience for me joining on the forum; otherwise, I couldn't learn wide variety of technical stuffs on bitcoin & cryptocurrencies. I would like to thank everyone who helped me learning all these things.

Let me name the people who have helped me time to time with their experience & knowledge.

bob123- bob is a great member of the forum; always try to help people with his technical knowledge. At the beginning of my forum journey, I have learnt a lot from him. He used to point out my mistake (of course others as well).
BitCryptex- Another great user, helped me a lot when I was learning about Lightning Network.
LoyceV- Cool guy. Share merit everyone who deserve. I have been merited by him numerous times. He is very much helpful to the newbie.
Ddmrddmr- He had handed out the first merit here. Sometimes, it seems he used to hunt good quality post to merit.
TMAN- Very much generous in handing out merit. Gave me 43 once.
theymos- Very much responsive even though he is the lord admin. Once I had to PM him for some reason and he had answered that after 2 days probably (I thought he will never  Cheesy )

And many more including TryNinja; because  Grin

1778  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Tutorial] How to create Lightning Network Channel (Testnet BTC) on: December 27, 2019, 11:06:50 AM
In using Lightning Network, how can I transfer my Bitcoin from my regular Bitcoin wallet? Is that possible?
I started to become curious about that since I am planning to explore Lightning Network of Bitcoin and start creating my own Lightning Network Channel.
When you will create a channel with for instance: starblocks to pay for a coffee, you will fund the channel at the beginning. You have a limit of having a maximum 0.16 BTC funding & a minimum amount determined by the Lightning Node you are using. I'm not sure what you are referring by own channel. Everyone requires to create channel in order to pay with LN. I guess you are speaking about running Lightning Node.
1779  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Tutorial] How to create Lightning Network Channel (Testnet BTC) on: December 26, 2019, 07:10:28 PM
@Loganota
I have been encountered the following when I tried out sending you through your payment request. I'm not sure why it's happening. Have you closed the channel?

There are some services that, for a fee, will open a LN channel that will allow you to receive a certain amount of coin, even if you have not spent anything on LN. This is known as having inbound capacity. You will typically need to pay the service the cost of the opening and closing transactions in advance, plus a percentage of the inbound capacity you are asking them to provide.
Thank you for sharing this. I had no idea what it was although I have encountered something similar to this when I tried to create a channel; didn't bother much at that time though.
1780  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Tutorial] How to create Lightning Network Channel (Testnet BTC) on: December 26, 2019, 04:30:02 PM
I'll leave my request here and ask permission to translate and post in the Portuguese board.
Of course you are allowed to transalate it into Portuguese. In fact, anyone can translate it into their local and post in bitcointalk. Make sure you have given a credential link to this article; put a link of your translated article here. I will update the OP with all the available translation link.

Payment Request
Sorry for the late. The request have been expired. When you further request for payment, make sure you have done this for maximum time; 6 hours.
Go to setting from the menu & change Payment Request Expiry into 6 hours.

I thing create a channel for an advance user not for a beginner like me. Always failed to connect node
Creating a channel is very easy; have a try it into Eclair. I guess you are talking about running a lightning node which I guess might not be easy for us.
