For example if I had a block of 1,000 TEK that aged for 35 days, I would have a stake weight of 5,000.
Thanks. This means that with 13 TEK, I will probably not stake in 30 days, but most probably much, much more, right?

Shall I understand that rich account have more chances to get richer the more TEK you have, the better the chances of getting your stake?
1762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: May 11, 2014, 03:12:32 AM
Will NEM have an interest rate, like TEK or PHS? High interest encourage people to hoard, which in turn secures the network.

Is there a plan for having a countdown for next stake on the wallet, like in Mintcoin, Blackcoin and probably others?

I'll fix it all up later, but i have to get my own QT linux dependencies to work.. sorry about that.
Alright thanks. Now github is down, I'll try again later.
1765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin V1.9.1, Energy Saving Coin *27 Exchanges *55 Merchants on: May 11, 2014, 01:59:58 AM
Ok so over and over the same half a dozen people repeat "this coin is amazing" "strong buy indicators" etc honestly nice sentiments but absolutely no evidence to support these claims. We have been languishing for quite a while now, what is being done to actually improve the value of mint? Donations and merchant acceptance are all well and good but historically they haven't done much to prices.

There's a plan, but we need MintCoin Fund to be official first.
Hi,

I was not much active on the thread recently. But I read every single post (I really do - and there are some that really warm my heart).

It is my pleasure to announce I received a letter from the French Administration (I could scan the letter, but since it is in French, I don't think it would be that interesting, plus the fact that I am already working on corrections). There is one good news and one bad news.
The bad news is there are some things they want me to modify. It is on the way.
The good news is that those things are minor ones. For the most part, the French administration is fine with Mintcoin Fund.

Of course, as long as it is not formally accepted by the fiscal administration, we could still get bad surprises. But so far, so good Smiley

Stay fresh friends!
1766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Stake Investment - NVC/HBN/PHS/TEK/and more on: May 11, 2014, 01:43:37 AM
RE inflation: All of these coins have a total coin cap - so they are just like BTC in that manner. However, where it comes to the ROI % - if you read the first post about novacoin and its model - which is used by NVC, HBN, and TEK you can see that the % will vary based upon stake difficulty which takes into account the number of coins on the market. They all start at their max ROI, but fall off to a minimum of 1% based upon the coins in the market. Thus, I believe they have inflation well under control. NVC for example started out at 100% but it is currently ~40%.
Is there a place where one can get the actual NVCS rate? I guess it is it impossible to have an exact number, since we don't know which wallet are exchanges (and so don't stack) and which ones are just not opened. But can we get an estimate?

It also appears to me than the staking coin are only worth it the first month or years, since eventually, people will stake more and more. OTOH hand, if you take a look at NVC chart and if it means anything, how can you promote NVC, whose price is fally consistently?

https://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/pair/nvc/btc/cryptsy/alltime

That is why I make the following StakeHunter pledge:
I will sell 25% of my stake every month.
Interesting, I'll think about it.
1767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PHS][PoS] PhilosopherStone | PoS | No Premine | stuff | 1.5.2 on: May 11, 2014, 01:21:08 AM
I'd caution you not to read too much into PHS' performance over the last month or so, as there have been problems plaguing it. Cryptsy's seemingly limitless incompetence, the timebomb attack, and pools being forked have held PHS down recently.
I read it as "time to buy", then (if you have some money, which I don't atm).

As for your bank interest rate parabole, you should think of it as depositing money in 2 different countries, each with different inflation levels and economic development.
Very useful parabole, thank you!

20% interest rate of MintCoin is crazy high if you compare to most high street brick-and-mortar banks, but cryptocurrency cannot be compared to the physical world, yet. 20% price corrections in a single day is not unheard of, and in that light 20%/year interest rate is not much of a hedge against price fluctuations.
For profit-seeking, I'd say the best thing about Mintcoin is a historically low volatility - chances are low you will lose your money - but you will mostly earn any only by stacking.
PHS price has been very stable despite the recent issues, and with that in mind 50% APR is a pretty sweet deal.
These and solarion mention above makes me consider investing in PHS. Plus StakeHunter's thread on PoS Investment, too.
1768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spin-offs: bootstrap an altcoin with a btc-blockchain-based initial distribution on: May 10, 2014, 10:29:52 PM
allow bitcoin users to claim a share of any pre-mine in direct proportion to the percentage of bitcoin’s market cap they control.

If you are a bitcoin user, you can use your bitcoin private keys to claim a percentage of æther exactly equal to the percentage of the bitcoin market cap you controlled at the time of nucleus creation.

If I understood correctly, the more bitcoins you have, the more premine you'll get. In other words, the richs will get richer and Satoshi Nakamoto will get the lion's share of any altcoin premine.

Surely you had something else in mind, didn't you?

Coin control, stake weight monitoring, etc.
Can you explain?
- Coin control: a way to ensure than the coin to be spent first are the one with the less coinage, so the least "waste"?
- Stake weight monitoring:?

Thank you

I agree too. Both for moral reason and because more pool means less centralization.

Could you point me toward a precompiled Asiacoin wallet? I could not compile it on Arch with the following command
Code:
cd ~ && git clone https://github.com/micryon/AsiaCoinFix && cd AsiaCoinFix/ && qmake-qt5 asiacoin-qt.pro && make
(please, don't post "you must use apt-get"; this is Arch Linux, not Ubuntu)

Thank you.
1774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 10, 2014, 07:07:00 PM
Monero is up for voting on this site: https://www.swaphole.com/#!voting
It's a new exchange, so the level of reliability is unknown. But take a second and vote here or anywhere else you find MRO listed for more visibility.
I know them, I traded there  They where the first alt to have stop loss (now, poloniex has it too) - Kraken had it before, but this is not an alt. I explain why stop loss orders matter here: http://david.latapie.name/blog/investment-strategy-10-200-and-trailing-stop/

Also, they already implemented the code for trailing stop (a better stop loss, which protects not only you capital, but also your profits, see my link above for explanation). They just did not implemented it yet because trailing stop needs volume to be interesting.

They are from Austria, with a registered company behind.
1775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 10, 2014, 04:57:23 PM
That would be fine with me.  In general, I will hold my wealth in BTC, and use MRO when I want assurance of transactional privacy.
I agree. BTC and MRO would not directly compete: there is market for traceable transaction (public funding, donations...)

the price is lower too long in mintpal
? TEK is not on Mintpal + Mintpal is not slow

Argh! I need 0.2 TEK just to be allowed to withdraw from Cryptsy :/ (I have 0.8 TEK).
Update: during the time I placed the order and the time it was accepted, the price rose by.... 1 satoshi!. And no one wanted to sell at 1 satoshi less. That's crazy, I never saw this on Mintpal's coin :/

I guess this is a different world than the day-trading heavy I know.

Still, I need 0.1 TEK to withdraw :/
Wow, now I know why people say "Craptsy". I actually have enough money to buy tek, but the... site is so slow at refreshing that I was constantly ordering below order. I lost some milliTEK because of this crappy website.

Is there any other place than cryptsy to buy TEK? I cannot stand this.
1778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty for open source ByteCoin/Monero GUI on: May 10, 2014, 03:41:01 PM
Thanks! I do not use Windows, so I cannot check, but hopefully you'll get feedback pretty soon.
