Weekly update. The analysis didn't detected a new merit source this week. In addition, I published monthly statistics for October 2018.

As far as I can see, QuestionAuthority dropped to third place in this TOP-200 and is likely to be rated fourth next week.

1785  Local / Кодеры / Re: Сигнатура в keccak-256 для регистрации ETH адреса (hex string) on: November 03, 2018, 03:30:04 AM
Вот задача.
Manual registration
Sign the keccak-256 hash of the message "I agree to the terms and conditions for signing up for the nahmii airdriip." the same way geth or web3js would, and enter the accociated address and signature below.

1786  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most trusted members (DT1, DT2, DT3) on: November 03, 2018, 02:26:02 AM
Weekly update.

iluvbitcoins is a new DT2 member. Congratulations! Cool

Also LoyceV has gained +1 score from another DT2 member and rose from 146th to 101st place.

Currently DT1 members trust 164 users.

Okay, then I understand where your numbers are coming from; my argument would be that your wording is a bit confusing or misleading. Calling them "scores" puts my head somewhere else, maybe it would be better to just refer to them as "inclusions" and "exclusions". I think more people would immediately know what you are talking about if you were to tweak your wording a bit.

I appreciate the clarification, but maybe instead of saying you're basing these ratings on "Marketplace Trust System" you could say something like "Trust lists", or "Trust Hierarchy".

I think that "score" is a good term for calling the overall trust from many individuals. Perhaps the mentioned file is a dump of the Marketplace trust network.

I'm pretty interested in hearing the reasoning behind dogie excluding philipma1957, but that's discussion for another thread.

I'm interested too. I guess that philipma1957 doesn't know about it.

Heh heh, looks like DT3's a cool place to be, look at the company I'm keeping....  Shocked

Yes, satoshi is a DT3 member. Cool

Weekly update.

Another 306 newbies received at least one merit this week. Total supported 3791 newbies by 1739 members.

Now OgNasty is rated first in this TOP-200. Cool
1788  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: October 28, 2018, 07:10:56 PM
My three posts on the first page have been updated again.

The analysis spotted another two merit sources:
1) Barcode_ (moderator of the chinese local board)
2) F2b (active in the french local board)

Here's a piece of potential gossip.

It appears that within the past day or two, the number of merit sources has gone down from 120 to 119.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=sources

And it was a big one, 1000 sMerits worth - the total went down from 23045 to 22045:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030366.msg45811297#msg45811297

I'm gonna guess it was QuestionAuthority.

QuestionAuthority has confirmed that theymos removed him as a merit source:

Apologies to all concerned, I will no longer be handing out merit in this thread. Theymos removed me as a merit source because he disagreed with the way I spent my merit. I will leave this thread open and you can continue to post merit requests here if you like; however, I won’t be answering them.

Good luck to all.

CBH

but anyhow, assuming that the merit source removal was QA, unless theymos shared his rationale, none of us would really know if there may have been a multitude of factors (besides just the seemingly random WO thread give away), and the one incident (or handful of incidents that we might be able to identify) would have merely served as marginal facts (the straw that broke the camel's back type) to push theymos into such a merit source removal decision (again assuming that it was QA).

Undoubtedly, QuestionAuthority has a specific merit distribution policy. Smiley

Typically, he sends 20-30 merits in one transaction. His following post could probably be "the straw that broke the camel's back type":

Oh, I am going to do one thing before I sign off for now. Since most people are off work/school today because it’s the weekend, and there should be more people on line than during the week and I have too much merit laying around, the next 5 people to respond to this thread get 30 merit.

As I can see, he didn't send any merit since Oct 11, 2018.
1789  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most trusted members (DT1, DT2, DT3) on: October 27, 2018, 06:46:13 PM
Still though, I am left confused by the following line, which is just one example as there are many.
Quote
9)   philipma1957   Legendary   2 scores   5 (+6 / -1) scores

It claims that a DT2 member has given a negative rating to philipma1957, unless I am misunderstanding the table and accompanying key. Can you help me understand what the -1 score represents in this particular example?

As I can see in the dump of the Marketplace trust system, 2 DT1 members trust philipma1957:

Code:
OgNasty->philipma1957
Tomatocage->philipma1957

6 DT2 members trust philipma1957:

Code:
MarkAz->philipma1957
hedgy73->philipma1957
EcuaMobi->philipma1957
suchmoon->philipma1957
HagssFIN->philipma1957
TookDk->philipma1957

1 DT2 member does not trust philipma1957:

Code:
dogie-/>philipma1957
1790  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most trusted members (DT1, DT2, DT3) on: October 27, 2018, 06:26:45 PM
In your OP it has philipma1957 listed as a Full Member, with the trust of 5 (+6 / -1) scores, help me understand.

Ranks are fixed just now. Smiley
1791  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most trusted members (DT1, DT2, DT3) on: October 27, 2018, 06:14:07 PM
https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=mosttrusted This is Vod's rendition of the most trusted users around the forum. I do not mean to sound discouraging, but what exactly are you bringing to the table/conversation that is not already available or has not already been said? I appreciate the effort, and find these kind of things interesting, but you're sort of recreating the wheel if you ask me.

I know about the useful resource made by Vod. Please note that my lists are based on the Marketplace trust system, not on feedbacks.

Let me explain how I create this TOP-200.

Every week theymos publishes the dump of the Marketplace trust system here:
https://bitcointalk.org/trust.txt.xz

This file does not contain feedbacks. The "->" substring indicates a positive trust, the "-/>" substring indicates a negative trust. My analysis can read this dump and create TOP-200.

Best wishes.
1792  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most trusted members (DT1, DT2, DT3) on: October 27, 2018, 05:41:51 PM
My first three posts have been updated.

As I can see, RHavar dropped from 146th to 160th place in the list of DT2 members.

Why am I not in DT3?
I have one + trust from hilarious&co.

Or am I missing something in how it works?

The trust list is based on a person name included in the trust list of someone. Not based on a feedback from a DT.
Otherwise, imagine all the members the DT 2 would have considering all feedback left  by DT 1 members

Thanks!

Please note that hilariousandco is a DT1 member. If he had add you to his trusted list, you would become a DT2 member, not a DT3 member.
1793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETF approval is high on: October 27, 2018, 04:59:12 PM
I have read this article. To be honest, I do not trust to the "anonymous sources" mentioned by its author.

As far as I know, in September 2018 the SEC published the reasons why they rejected the application for the VanEck SolidX ETF. There are still no significant changes in the crypto currency world, so I do not expect the SEC to approve Bitcoin ETF in the near future. Maybe circumstances will be better in the third quarter of 2019.
1794  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why trading is unhealthy? on: October 27, 2018, 04:37:59 PM
The first problem you can have is - eyes problems. Spending more time in front of your computer can be harmful to your eyes.
The second - stress. Stress can cause many problems from high blood pressure to depression.

Your display is probably too small. You need to buy a high-quality and large monitor and your eyes will not get tired too quickly. You can also eat special vitamins for the eyes.

Yes, psychology matters. Personally I become distressed too if I suffer losses from trade, but I try to correct my financial mistake as soon as possible and my mood normalizes rather fast.

“That’s odd” - I thought. I eat healthy food and I do sports.

Right. Physical culture is necessary for all people. Maybe you need to do another exercises or increase the load.

I know it’s all individual. Some people trade days and night and they feel pretty good. I just told you my story with my experience. I don’t pursue anyone to stop trading. It’s just important for me to warn some people who can have the same problems.

Every trader should keep to check on his/her health and wealth. Smiley
1795  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic crash in 2019! on: October 27, 2018, 04:14:26 PM
First of all, I do not believe that an economical crash is imminent in 2019. I think that the countries with powerful armed forces will compete with each other in order to protect their own markets by imposing import taxes on certain goods and raw materials. Such a policy probably can lead to insignificant negative economical results on a global scale, but this will not affect all countries.

There's no guarantee that Bitcoin will be unaffected or will benefit from a global financial crisis. Bitcoin is still too volatile to be considered a safe haven, so just because it's not tied to traditional markets it doesn't mean that it is safe. There might be even some mechanisms that can make it drop during a crisis, so no one should bet on Bitcoin with all their savings.

People says that Bitcoin can be a "safe haven" for money in these times. I tend to agree with this.
1796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Phillipines adopting BITCOIN on: October 27, 2018, 03:51:56 PM
I am glad to hear that Philippines is adopting Bitcoin. I am confident that the government pursues right policy in this new area of economy. As a result, the overall demand for crypto currencies is likely to increase, and we see positive movements of the BTC price on global crypto exchange markets. Best wishes to the Philippine nation.
1797  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-25] Bitcoin (BTC) is 10,000 Times More Efficient Than Banks on: October 27, 2018, 03:34:06 PM
Overall, literally anything is better than Bitcoin's current ~7 TPS throughput. The ultimate goal is to have people leave their channels open and buy their coins through an exchange allowing them to withdraw through LN.

It's going to take a couple of years for sure, but it is likely going to happen.

Undoubtedly, The Lightning Network is a good solution for making millions of transactions, but it is an external technology designed for Bitcoin. Not many people use LN channels yet, but I see how its network is growing day by day.

The author of this article is trying to compare efficiencies of the top rated crypto currency and the traditional banking system. I think it is not correct to state such conclusions, because Visa, Mastercard and other payment systems make much more transactions that transfer fiat currency between customers. If so many people send their funds using the Bitcoin blockchain, transaction fees will soar up drastically.

There is no new Legendary, Hero Member or Sr. Member this week.

goldkingcoiner, Paolo.Demidov and r1s2g3 ranked up to Full Members!

Well done! Cool
1799  Other / Meta / Re: [LOG] sMerit HODLers who sent merits for the first time on: October 25, 2018, 08:08:43 PM
Taking 6months to send 1 merit is suspicious, but I don’t think you are handing the data in the best way here OP.

I agree with you. Perhaps here is too many data. I just excluded from these lists the users who were Members on January 24, 2018.

To play devils advocate as to why some of these members(likely a small percentage) would engage in this behavior.

Of course, most of these members who sent merits for the first time are decent and honest, but some of them look suspicious.
1800  Other / Meta / Re: [LOG] sMerit HODLers who sent merits for the first time on: October 25, 2018, 06:35:43 PM
Isn't it obvious that when the new merits system was introduced,the willingness to also hand out merits was stimulated,members(high ranked) became more liberal in handing out merits to good posters(at least so they could rank up/differentiate them from shitposters....

As I remember, people sent a huge amount of sMerits in the early days when the merit system has been introduced. This analysis takes in consideration only those members who did not make any merit transaction until September 17, 2018.

I don't see the reason making this boring list,if you have any proof against them, report to a MOD or DT

I don't blame sMerit HODLers. It's just statistics that can be interesting and probably useful.
