1782  Other / Meta / Re: What happens if someone copies sig code for phishing on: July 15, 2018, 03:50:56 AM
Phishing is bannable. Probably everyone who wore it would be banned.

I think Theymos made it very clear that user is responsible for what user is advertising in signature.
Actually user should do investigation that user is not promoting phishing links, scam or fake ICO.

One bounty campaign specially caught my eyes.

The gain ICO is promising in website that surely looked ponzi (not sure, but remember that they were promising double your money in 45 days).
But still so many people joined this bounty campaign and a legendary member taken the responsibility of its bounty management.

What about the users who participated in this campaign and about the manager?

PS: I think it is time we need to write the guidelines of Bounty campaign management too.
Signature guidelines are already posted in below topic.

1784  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The rise of Myopia on: July 12, 2018, 08:54:49 AM
Proper care of eyes can prevent myopia. My relative is able to correct his vision by practicing yoga.

Here you can find an  informative article:
https://www.quora.com/Is-there-any-one-who-removed-his-her-eye-glasses-by-yoga-or-exercise-or-by-any-other-method

Make sure, if you have myopia, wear your glasses. Ignoring glasses make it worse. Get your eye checkup every six month to know about your vision progress (improving or deteriorating ).
1785  Other / Meta / Re: Disable sign. camp. officially to prevent spam & know true value of merit system on: July 10, 2018, 09:43:41 AM

So I believe that if sign camp. disable officially from forum only for Jr. Members, it will help prevent spam permanently.

When somebody says newbie and Jr. Members are only responsible for spam, I do not know how to respond.

Is it self acknowledgement from that user that user spammed the forum till user become the member?
Is user again self acknowledging that as a Jr. Member, user was not able to bring anything positive so no one else can?

I personally feel it derogatory when some one blames newbies and Jr. member directly. I find  countless occasions where Members, full member and even Sr.Member  spamming and Copy Pasting in the forum.

I even saw fully ignorant responses from legendary too.

Blaming a specific rank is totally wrong.

@OP,  Do not take it personal and these 2 questions are valid for everyone who jump into conclusion that only Jr. Members/newbies are spamming.

Personally, if I were to choose something, I'd go for the most established... Uni of Nicosia. The author of Mastering Bitcoin teaches some of the modules on the course there! Check out their free course first.

Thanks Buwaytress, I will check that free course.
Actually I got lot of courses in udemy, but all needed to be purchased. (I can think of purchasing them but I have no idea of their quality and I do not believe that you will become developer by taking 10 hrs course)
https://www.udemy.com/courses/search/?q=blockchain

My further research revealed that a block chain developer should be well versed in front end development (like HTML, CSS etc, so I will start with them for a time being)

People also refer to Solidity development, but it look more of  smart contract on Ethereum platform, I am right now, not interested in that.

Just a little bit surprised, as I was expecting tons of suggestion how to become a developer.  Lets hope some developer see this thread and able to guide me properly.
1788  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How Should I proceed. on: July 09, 2018, 02:35:08 PM

How Should I proceed.

To do what, exactly ? What is your goal ? This is the most important question right there.

My ultimate goal is to become Blockchain developer.
I am a software engineer,BS or BE or B-Tech degree holder in computer science field. So I read the programming language and Data structures in my college life.

Now Bad part:
Even today I work as software engineer but never used programming skills, so whatever I read is almost 15 year back in life.
In job , I worked as ETL developer/tester (A gui tool ) so no programming language after wards I transitioned to Performance DBA (Work on tuning of Database 150+  tearabytes in size).

I downloaded github also (as a zip file) , but I did not find any directory till now where I can find C code.

Actually I want a transition in my job field by learning a new skill. Actually if I learn the blockchain skill, there is high probability that I can move to another project of my company that is doing blockchain but I need to acquire skills first.
1789  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How Should I proceed to become a block chain developer. on: July 09, 2018, 06:37:33 AM
I have gone through the book "Mastering Bitcoin" and I am not able to completely  grasp  it.  I just need a break from reading and need to do something practical.

Is "https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/" is the original copy?
How  should I  read the source  code?
Do I need to install some specific program /compilers  for it.

Edit.
My ultimate goal is to become Blockchain developer.

1792  Other / Meta / Re: I've just invented dMerits. on: July 08, 2018, 05:56:53 AM
I am not sure how the Merit source sMerits works but till now my understanding it that they have fixed quota and they will be replenished with the  amount that they spent. If they did not use their full quota then it is lapsed.

I will first go in Pros of demerits system:
1. Merits that Merit Source is not able to Merit will be delegating to others so forum has all the source sMerits in circulation.
2. Merit Source is able to take care of those section of forum ,where Merit are scarce and he is lacking the knowledge/language barrier/time barrier to
    evaluate all the post.
3. Burden is somewhat distributed to other, some kind of decentralized Merit distribution.

I will now talk about Cons of the system.
1. Putting a middleman in Merit system, will cause half of Merit lost before reaching to the destination.
2. Theymos already said in initial thread , if some good thread is not receiving enough or no Merits, then they should be bought into his notice. User
should  apply for Merit Source after collecting these post. Transferring of Merits is a direct blow to this procedure.
3. Giving Merit itself is a very subjective. Now selecting a another person for this job will arise a question like "Why he/she, Why not me ?" I think
actually  Theymos selected all Merit Sources with some criteria. He can analyse everything for a user being a forum administrator but Merit Source will
not be  having access to that data.

My Personal Thinking:
Giving up Merit to person A , so that person A  can pass it up to B is a transmission loss of Merit. Might be Theymos can introduce new concept for Merit source to directly transfer the sMerits.  Merit Source should encourage the deserving person to start their Merit Source application and support the application of that user.

1794  Other / Meta / Re: Erosion of merit. ( posted by mistake. Not yet ready for post ) on: July 07, 2018, 01:55:02 PM
Look Like you are weak in Mathematics. If 1 Merit generate 1 sMerit , Then you can have infinite supply of Merit by Just getting 1 Merit.
A got 1 Merit so he has default 1sMerit.
A decided it to give it to B, Now B has 1 Merit and 1 smerit.
Now both can do to and froth to game the system and in between they can introduce C,D,E and so on.

Edit:  Merit Sources are replenished with sMerits ( sMerits created without getting any Merit) to solve this erosion problem.

May be you are right I am not much experienced in math. But I think you reply before complete my post. On subject you can see
Quote
Re: Erosion of merit.( posted by mistake. Not yet ready for post )
. I think I calculate right. It's user calculation. Not from merit source. I will request you for read now. Btw thanks for your reply.

I actually read this "posted by mistake. Not yet ready for post"  but your concept of 1Merit =1sMerit has a very big flaw . I want  you  to drop this concept at once and you can use your time on any other subject.
I know you are good scam ICO buster and might your  scam busting skills have saved millions of dollar of investor.
1795  Other / Meta / Re: Erosion of merit. ( posted by mistake. Not yet ready for post ) on: July 07, 2018, 07:22:35 AM
Disclaimer: I don't know if another post similar. I haven't seen. If you know reply here I will lock this thread.

As well we know once merit system was implement then smerit wasn't 1merit=0.5 merit for all member's.
Quote
The spendable amount was calculated based on your current rank and the number of activity points you earned in the last year. A Legendary member who hasn't posted in the last year would still be Legendary, but would not have any spendable merit.
.

From above quote we can see that every one didn't receive smerit half of his merit initially. This is one reasone for erosion of merit.
Anyway this is already gone. Nothing we can do. Current merit calculation is 1=0.5 .
Quote
when someone sends you merit points, half of those points can be sent by you to other people.
Now I will calculate up to end user, if I have 1 smerit initially, then I can send it 1 user. Now he have 0.5 smerit. So will try to explain below up to end user.
(User)  :  Me > user1> user2> user3> user4  >  user5>>>
(Smerit): 1  >> 0.5 >   0.25  > 0.125> 0.0625> 0.03125>>>>

So In a result day by day merit is erosion. Thousand of people joined this forum daily. If like this running merit system then it will be impossible to rank up for newcomer, even he is good poster.
Prevent merit Erosion or vanish it's possible to change smerit circulation system. Now it is 1merit=0.5smerit . I think it can be implement 1merit=1smerit so that merit system will not erosion or vanish.

Merit source status

Look Like you are weak in Mathematics. If 1 Merit generate 1 sMerit , Then you can have infinite supply of Merit by Just getting 1 Merit.
A got 1 Merit so he has default 1sMerit.
A decided it to give it to B, Now B has 1 Merit and 1 smerit.

1799  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: To new Bitcoiners - how much does its price affect you? on: July 05, 2018, 06:07:19 PM
Bitcoin is becoming expensive, and is going through a period of major volatility. How much does this affect you in your decisions about Bitcoin?

Would you buy Bitcoin as a long(ish) term investment, or do you see it as a simple payment method? If you plan to start a career in crypto, does the price affect your ability to learn and experiment with the coin?

The Bitcoin economy is very different now, and it was much simpler when I became interested a few years ago,

I  will like to answer the few with my experience in Crypto journey.
I heard about Bitcoin in last Thanksgiving when it was around $10K but still it does not aroused my interest as such but in couple of days it reached around $20K and it this point I decided to explore the opportunity of investment in it.
Created a coinbase account and in next couple of days price dipped from all time high, People are speculating that it can reach million dollars(youtube videos and various articles)   and I did very small  investment.  (Frankly speaking you can call my investment as FOMO ).

I buy the bitcoin for the purpose long term investment only and currently I do not use it as payment method. I have no intention to search the merchant who accept the bitcoins and do the payment in bitcoins but if my preferable merchant is already accepting bitcoins , then I can think of using it as a payment method.  In a current scenario I am still take as store of value and I will suggest to buy a little bitcoin and do the payment in fiat only and consolidate your holding on bitcoins.
I have already established career and I am not going to abandon it in just to start with the crypto currency but I am exploring and learning in Crypto currency so that in future I can take it as part time career and if it goes well then I can think of a switch.

Price do not affect my ability to learn and experiment but the existing job, social responsibilities and  not high will power/motivation  to engage myself in continual learning are the main factors for me not experimenting.

Sometime I wish that  I had heard about bitcoin when I was in my college . I had much eagerness and dedication to learn and experiment at that time.

1800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: Paying Beta Testers .003 Eth on: July 05, 2018, 01:46:37 AM

I am not going to repeat for colour and themes It is actually bought at your notice earlier.
I will say you asked for beta testing for your site a bit early as many of functionalities is still on "Acess Denied" and does not look like it is fully complete.

Let me put forward my findings.
1. Ticker is ambigious
  Bitcoin - $6661.69 (2.85)
You put -(negative) sign before displaying price , This does not look a standard.  Now 2.85 in parenthesis has no unit associated with it. Whether this 2.85 is % or absolute increase in $ value.

2. Fakepath.
While uploading picture it told me the path as  "C/fakepath/../ "

3. I think textbox are created with white outline in all over your site. Not only description box but also message text in Feedback section is not visible.

4.There is no provision to edit the profile picture when clicking "Edit profile"

5. I changed my Profile settings to "Only Me" but still my Profile photo is available in Public Domain under Photos. (Might be true for every media).

6. Forgot password link is not working to retrieve the information /reset the password.

What passed.

1. Did not allowed me to create a account with existing username.
2. Did not allowed me to reuse the same email again for creating the account.
