Ayew has been one of the problems of Ghana in this their first half game against Portugal, he is the player meant to push attack but from what I saw in the first half he was playing more like Partey a defensive midfielder, turning back to pass each time he had the opportunity to run forward. No real attempt in the first half unlike what we saw from Cameroon. I have also observed that there are no speedsters in this Ghanian side that is trying to run into the Portugal Defense.

It has been really disappointing that no African team has scored any goal yet, we hope that Ghana can change that.

New Injury Update.

Bad news for Denmark as one of their players Thomas Delaney who is 31yrs has been ruled out from the rest of the world cup due to an injury to his knee that he picked up playing  against Tunisia in their first game, He has been ruled out for a couple of weeks and will not be among the Denmark team to play France in their next game.

I expected Cameroon to be the first African team to win and claim a comfortable start in the world cup, another dissapointment, even more for Samuel Eto who has been very positive about Cameroon starting well and going far in this world cup. Not a bad start but they now know the importance of finishing chances whenever they get it. Chupo Mouting had a good chance in the first half, if he had Switzerland would have chased them the remaining of the game as the game would have been more difficult for them. I hope to see some African teams make it knockout stages, we need to disappoint everyone that tipped Africa not to go far in this world cup.

It looks like we have generally overrated west African countries that qualified to play in this world cup. I watched how well Tunisia and even Morocco have played and I wonder why I didn't see anyone tip them as the African team that will go far in the world cup, majority of the attention has been on Senegal and Cameron. I have been impressed by both Tunisia and Morocco, and currently they have one point each even ahead of Senegal that was our African favorite before Mane's exclusion. We will soon see how Ghana and Cameron will play against Portugal and Switzerland.

The coach managed the game properly, contained Germany in the first Half with more defenders, and in the second half brought in attackers to try to run the German defense down which worked perfectly because of the pace that the Japanese team have. I am worried about Enner Valencia for Equador who looked injured after their first game, we know he was injured, but we can't confirm yet the extent to know if he can play their next game against Netherlands. If he won't be able to continue the world cup, that will be a big blow to Equador. His importance clearly showed in the first game they played against host Qatar.

Lukaku who also has been struggling with injury, will not play for Belgium in their Opening games.

A good statement from the the title defenders. They generally showed composure even after Australia had that opportunity to be in front. The most effective side pushing attack for France in the game was Mbappe's wing where he dealt with the Australian Rightback player with his pace, his side was more effective than Dembele's.
