1781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Feathercoin about to launch on Cryptonit ! on: April 27, 2013, 09:26:04 AM
I wonder what will happen to the exchange rate of LTC-FTC when trades open in 12-24 hours : https://cryptonit.net/content/feathercoin-exchange#comments.

Usually when a new cryptocurrency goes live on an exchange, people expect prices to shoot up. They expect this, so many of them will try to be the first to buy, buy, buy. It then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Price doubles or triples quickly, and then crashes as people rush to cash out.
So it's likely that we'll see this.

What makes it interesting is the current rise of LTC against USD.

I figure there are miners that have huge stock of FTC and can't be bothered to sell it trough the forums, but would love to sell their half million FC @ 18 LTC per 1k FTC on an exchange, thus drastically lowering FTC price.

What do you think will happen ?

Wrong!

What if someone works for government or private corporation as an asshole. Think about tax collectors or loan sharks.

- They know it's bad for other poor people
- They still need to do the bad work to sustain themselves

Are they addicted to tax collecting or loan sharking? Or the wrong construction of society forces them to do such things?

Addiction is only when there is physical dependency. Like when coming down from heroin. All other substance abuses are cycle of use and behavioral lifestyle. And there is no addiction at all when no substance is involved. It is wrong to call them addictions. It is like comparing bicycle riding with astronomy.

No dude, there's such a thing as mental addiction. Consider gambling.

Also, a tax man chooses to do his work, it's not because he feels an URGE to tax Wink

Is there any way to see which of the askers/bidders are online without manually looking it up through the forums ?If not,  is there a way to add this function ?

ALso, I took Cyberdyne's 5k so you can take that off and add it to completed transactions.

No don't take it off, I already mentioned I had more than 5k to sell, thanks.

Sorry !

Think months at least. Scroll back a bit to taco's last post. He's gonna do this right, with a lot of due dillegence and peer review. This is gonna be a real alt coin, not a copy.

I work in mental health care and I know a thing or two about addiction. To me it sounds like you are addicted to it.

-You know it's bad for yourself and for others
-Yet you can't control yourself sometimes

As with any addiction, the most important part is WANTING to change your behaviour. Sounds to me like you're getting there ! Keep up the good work dude.

If I may give some advise, please consider the pro's and con's of what you're doing. Think about how you would feel about yourself if you were to be honest from now on.

And yes I believe you're not an asshole deep down, your past behaviour has just been a bit ...asshole-ish Smiley

1799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MC2: A democratic cryptocurrency based on a hybrid PoW/PoS system on: April 26, 2013, 11:33:51 AM
A separate thread for proposed names, please. If Tacotime doesn't name the coin Taco's. Grin
Sifting through posts about names for to find proposed improvements or alternatives.

Hope the ever increasing blockchain size can be solved with Merkle root approach or Balance sheet approach. Hope enough peers look into it, would be a shame if that ended up a weakness/vulnerability prone to manipulation.

The good things about "spammy" posts about names is that it bumps the thread up to the front page where more technical minded people will run into it Smiley So just bear with us and use your scroll wheel, brother !
1800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MC2: A democratic cryptocurrency based on a hybrid PoW/PoS system on: April 25, 2013, 09:32:40 PM
As for the name... I still have an aversion to *coin names, but if we're stuck with it, netCoin is generic and simple enough to encourage adoption from the mundanes.

I hear you. 'coin is cheesy. But from a marketing perspective it makes total sense to use it. I think the name has a big impact on the potential popularity of a cryptocurrency. PPC is a good example of that. It's a great concept, but for some reason it's not a coin the community talks a lot about. Could that be because of the name...Peepee-see ?
