1401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Offical launch of PhenixCoin.com on: May 21, 2013, 03:04:08 PM
Once people look beyond the prejudice of innovative archetypes you'll see that value is not in innovation of the coin itself, but hundreds if not thousands of factors, ranging in utilization (which need not be completely innovative if its utilization is similar to other utilitarian coins), infrastructure, marketing, etc. Value is what people give it, not what it "is" in its coding; what's in its coding simply predisposes it to possibilities.

Then why not just use LTC instead of PhenixCoin ? Give me one good reason.
1402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Offical launch of PhenixCoin.com on: May 21, 2013, 02:37:53 PM
So... what is it, phenixcoin, pheneixcoin, pheonixcoin, fenixcoin ....... lol  ?

Maybe Peniscoin? let's make it a hard currency ...

*chuckle
1403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTF] 1k Phenixcoin for 10 LTC on: May 21, 2013, 02:33:45 PM
WTF? Is that WTS or WTB?

The coin creator is trying really hard to make his coin awesome, and the premine almost feels legitimate because it's used for bounties, donations, and the poker thing.

You don't need a million coins for that. What if they become worth 20LTC  per K ? that's 60.000 USD ! That's very tempting to dump. That's why a pre-mine like that is a big liability to investors.
1404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTS] 11.000 GDC on: May 21, 2013, 02:31:42 PM
You wont get any serious offers this way, Perry.
Wait until Bter or MCXnow picks up this coin, though. Then a thread like this will fill up fast.
1405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goldcoin pool http://gld.vircurpool.com on: May 21, 2013, 02:29:49 PM
Shameless plug : Or you could just buy my GLD cheaply, only .57 per K, lowest price on the spreadsheet Smiley
1406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTF] 1k Phenixcoin for 10 LTC on: May 21, 2013, 02:28:48 PM
Literally a MILLION coins were pre-mined.
1407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTF] 1k Phenixcoin for 10 LTC on: May 21, 2013, 02:28:02 PM
Serious question : Why would I want to invest in a coin that had a HUGE premine and was launched with just a few people ? How do I know it wont be dumped in a few days ?
1408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] GLDCoin/LTC Google Docs Exchange on: May 20, 2013, 08:39:40 PM
I talked to the admin a few times before, and he always said, : " no probably not " and then added it a few days later.
A lack of negativity in my book means positivity in this case !

1411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] GLDCoin/LTC Google Docs Exchange on: May 20, 2013, 07:29:49 PM
I just had an email exchange with Bter... they are watching this coin.

Interpret that how you like Smiley
1412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TestCoin, CoinCoin & JokeCoin on: May 20, 2013, 07:04:14 PM
you think people are gonna trade a coin that has no dollar value for money on the regular?

Money is a means of trading a unit of work, as such virtually no one is going to use their electric bill to donate to these causes if there is no means to compensate them for this expenditure.

Hence the naivety

Also, if I use a coin that can't be exchanged for USD, I'll just exchange it for , say, LTC and exchange that for USD.

Not trolling, just being frank
1413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TestCoin, CoinCoin & JokeCoin on: May 20, 2013, 04:36:11 PM
Fin, you're all fantasy and zero understanding. Maybe you should read up a little bit about how coins work and more importantly : what gives them value. You are undermining your reputation as DVC advocate and therefore DVC itself by posting this naive notions.

I've done plenty of reading, and you seem to be the one that doesn't understand. Or have some kind of shit seeking filter on simply because it is me posting.

Lol, I'm not undermining SHIT. My "reputation" comes from threads like this. And once I get paid and start giving out free shit, and eventually make my own coin in like a year or two, this will work to do nothing but give me a better "reputation".

And I don't see why you have such a big problem with discussion of possible alt coins. I think there should be MORE discussions like this so that maybe someone can accidentally suggest the perfect coin.

OK, my tone was a bit to harsh. sorry.

All your ideas have been used and talked about to death already.

It's naive because coins are already easy to mine.

It's naive to make a coin that isn't supposed to be exchanged for fiat.

It's naive to make a coin just for a test. Test net is for that. People WILL try to get real money for it. They have even tried that with testnet coins.

You have a 1000 posts but maybe you should read a bit....

Am I the only one who finds this thread title humorous?

Oh that was soo an accident Smiley

Sure they do. I've played poker professionally and nobody ever stopped me, anywhere.

I loved stacking them up at home Smiley
Then you should also know that the casinos keep track if you actually play with the chips or not.

I don't think so. At least I've never noticed.  The only way they CAN do this is if the would put some kind of tracking chip into the chip, like an RFID chip. I've never seen them scan a chip, they just go in the tray or disapeer in shutes.

At least in Vegas they use RFID chips. Besides tracking your play (the tables have readers) they prevent the use of fake chips and also chip theft.

And of course they have cameras covering every table.

If you keep buying chips from the cage and never play, by the time you try to cash out a big sum they are aware of what you're doing and will never give you a receipt for gambling winnings.

Cool. Well, im certain they don't do that in Macau and in some European countries though. How about taxes, do you pay tax in the US over gambling winnings ?
1416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How works the bitcoin ATM? on: May 20, 2013, 10:12:37 AM
An ATM that cashes OUT bitcoins, that would be WTFBBQ awesome.
I think it could be done without confirmations, for example of MtGox owns the machine ( *shudder* ) MtGox could just use your account ; the BTC in there is already confirmed.
1417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet security on: May 20, 2013, 10:10:18 AM
I've never used multibit so I cannot answer that question.

1419  Other / Meta / Re: Annoying "reputation" threads in off topic.... on: May 20, 2013, 10:00:38 AM
Yeah, after each transaction they ask if their trading partner would write something good about them, but IF the trading partner is actually satisfied with the trade, they would actually leave good feedback themselves.
Instead they feel the need to make a reputation thread, which in my opinion is not needed.

I use it and like it when potential trading partners have one. When I see names of people in a rep thread that I know and trust, I know my potential partner has a good history and is less likely to throw that away for a few quick scams.

If they don't have a thread like that you have to wade through a jungle of old threads, saves time.

But now that there's a rep thread area of the forums you dont have to be annoyed by it anymore Smiley

EDIT What seriously ? You ignore people with rep threads ? Oh well I guess you can't read this then. The problem with ignoring someone is that their threads still show up so it does nothing to releive your annoyance.

The notion that people with rep threads sockpuppit eachother is rediculous, most of us have a lot to lose. Finding good trading partners for altcoins is not easy you know.
