I never understood the Pats hate, They were the worst team in football the entire time I was growing up and then when they got their shit together people hated on them.

They were just too dominant all the time and people hate (kind of envy) that. It's the same in every sport and no reason to worry or be mad about it, the hate/dislike will be gone when the Pats are back to normal. Another thing is, that haters are way more active in (publicly) expressing their opinion than fans doing public praise. So there will always be this disbalance, also because this is a very black/white matter, there is no middle and you have more haters than fans naturally, because the percentage of Pats fans in comparison to football fans/fans of other teams is pretty low like for all teams.

What added to that hate is all this little cheating and pushing the boundaries on top of playing in a super weak division all those years. People thought that NE somehow didn't deserve to be this good, but though I disliked their dominance/success, I always thought it's well deserved, because they were masterclass in a lot of areas and this should get rewarded.

If the Giants ever started such a reign, I wouldn't be too happy about (I think !), because I find it boring in general. It's way more fun to not know, if you will win any particular game or if you will win your division year after year, reach the Conference Championship for the gazillionth time in a row etc.; adds more spice and adrenaline.

Here are the odds for Sunday:

I like the Bills Smiley But you will get them above 3 inplay I think.

183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 19, 2021, 01:34:30 PM
Double chance 1X, could be the bet to place.

This is what I will play as well. Mainz has shown some improvements lately and weren't too bad against Bayern/Dortmund, so they seem to enjoy playing stronger teams and it fits their style more. Wolfsburg has been struggling in away games this season with 1-5-2, while they are super strong at home with 5-3-0. As you said, this looks very draw-ish, I can even think of a 0-0.

Other than that I like M'Gladbach even at a poor looking 1.60-ish. And the loser in Hertha-Hoffenheim game will probably have to look for a new coach, so both Labbadia and Hoeneß will be fine with a draw to save their jobs for the time being.
184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The 27th World Handball Championship 2021! on: January 19, 2021, 11:59:55 AM
I went with Poland @2.75 today, because I feel this should be more of a 50/50 affair judging by the results so far. Both had Spain on the brink of defeat; Brazil managed to come away with a draw, while Poland lost 26-27. Brazil then struggled a bit against Tunisia as 1.40-fav. The glory days of polish handball are a bit behind them, but they are building up a new team and are still able to field a strong squad.
In the unlikely event of Tunisia beating Spain earlier in the day, it would be best for Poland to draw, because that would eliminate Spain (and thus make Poland carry more points into next round), but I doubt they calculate that far and playing for a draw in Handball isn't that easy Grin
185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Red Cards in Football and what they do to the odds and the outcome on: January 19, 2021, 11:34:46 AM
Not a lot of red cards in general (none in FRA1 and NED1 since last post even) and only 4 before halftime.

Sheffield Utd - Newcastle
Red Card: Newcastle in 45th minute, score 0-0
Final Score: 1-0

Sheffield got their first win this season with this red card for Newcastle. It needed a penalty for them to score, but a win is a win. Odds probably weren't great considering the pre-match odds.

Fulham - Chelsea
Red Card: Fulham in 44th minute, score 0-0
Final Score: 0-1

Chelsea were already huge pre-match favourites, so the odds were super low after the red card, but they managed to win. Took them until 78th minute to score the lead though...

Juventus - Sassuolo
Red Card: Sassuolo in 45th+2 minute, score 0-0
Final Score: 3-1

Another one with very small odds and Sassuolo would have given us a good scare, because they managed to equalize being one man down and Juve only scored the lead again in 82nd minute.

Torino - Spezia
Red Card: Spezia in 8th minute, score 0-0
Final Score: 0-0

Torino were solid pre-match favourites, but failed to take advantage of this very early red card.

Despite going 3-1 you would most likely have gone breakeven only, because of poor odds. On top of that you were in acute danger of mutliple heart attacks with Juve/Chelsea doing so poor even one man up.

I will put this on break for the time being, until I find a new angle to tackle games with red cards.

Here are the results and if dai******n didn't have Inter to win, Turquinito has won the MM this time and only has to share the prize with 3 users max.

Easy win with a 2 game cushion and 100 fame points go your way @Turquinito, congratulations for this already Smiley

There were some users with a pretty good run in the middle of things (notblox1, Indymoney, Thibaw). Our very strong consensus games (18+) all held Smiley The average is ok-ish with 7.38, although this was quite an easy MM with how it unfolded, if that makes any sense.

The 2021 stats table:

Turquinito takes the lead here and is in pole position to take the 5BTC extra prize at the end of March, jk.

Trofo has found some form again, while a lot of veterans find themselves only to the very right of the table, including myself Grin

See you next week with Flamengo back in action. They will play Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday next week, so I will go against them for sure, lol.
My guess is, that we will start the next MM with M'Gladbach vs Dortmund on Friday Wink

(...) for a game that was very entertaining until that point.

It was at least kind of close and if you like to watch good defense, which I personally do, it was one of the better games indeed. But in general the PO's bore the hell out of me until now. There wasn't one lead change after halftime and only very few even in first half (BUF-IND, TEN-BAL); some teams were able to tie in the first 30 minutes to make it 3-3 or whatever, zzzzzzzz. Every game is just a 1.01 train, I miss some drama Tongue

Browns seem to be no matchup for KC today, so all my hope is on Brees vs Brady later. If that is a one-sided affair as well, I will have to wait for Chiefs vs Bills Roll Eyes

Despite my earlier words of the smaller teams catching up, I am going with Denmark -17.5 today. They already comfortably beat the HC against Bahrain with 34-20 and well, DRC is one of the poorest teams in this WC. Although they have one big fella I'm a bit scared of.....

Source: https://img.olympicchannel.com/images/image/private/t_16-9_760/f_auto/v1538355600/primary/r9cwdayimyka9zazmuvu

.....Gauthier Mvumbi, 192cm, 110kg, looks a bit more kg's, if you ask me. He could play in NFL with that frame Shocked Or Darts Grin

Apart from Jakobsen, Denmark has all players available, so no worries on that end. DRC had a very good first half against Argentina, which they even won, so I was looking for a second half HC on Denmark, but didn't find one. Normally these small teams fade a little bit more towards the end of the game, because they are just gassed and not used to play on a high and fast level for 60 minutes. This could happen here as well, so I will probably add a smaller HC inplay at HT, if available.
190  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Bitcoin & die Steuer - FAQ on: January 17, 2021, 02:14:39 PM

Also nein, geht nicht.

191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 16, 2021, 11:08:49 PM
I am surprised to see Frankfurt being priced 1.5x against powerhouse^^ Schalke; this is very low imo after Schalke broke the spell last weekend with a convincing scoreline, although they easily could have lost that one too. But luck was on their side finally and I am pretty sure they turned the corner now. As I mentioned for the cup game, Frankfurt is hard to beat these days, but they are no serial winners as well; they like their draws very much, having the most among all Bundesliga teams this season. A win is probably too much to ask for Schalke, but a draw is well within reach after their rejuvenation. I still decided to take the even more safe option of Schalke AH+1, which will give me my money back, if Frankfurt wins like 1-0/2-1/3-2. Odds are above @2 for this and good value for me.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The 27th World Handball Championship 2021! on: January 16, 2021, 10:28:33 PM
Seems like the way to go in this competition, at least for now.

I think this is the way to go in general in a lot of sports. The smaller/weaker nations catch up very fast, while there is not that much room for improvement for the big nations. This is something I also observed in football in the various WC/EC qualifying competitions. Not only in Europe (well for EC obviously^^), but also in Asia, where football dwarfs nowadays are able to handle themselves very well against good opposition and can keep the scoreline close-ish often times despite huge HC's.

I wanted to recommend a bet here today, but totally forgot about the (early) starting time and while I was writing my post, the game had already started Grin I then jumped in live myself, but abandoned my post:

Pre-match the line was even 70.5, which was insane imo and just inflated by the previous result from SK (80 goals in match against Slovenia, pre-match line o/u 58). Belarus had a high-scoring affair against Russia in their first match as well, but this was an outlier as well, the pre-match line was 54.5.

Then I had my eyes on Russia - only the HC - but didn't have the guts and in the end they even won as 8+ underdog Shocked Looks like there is at least one big upset per day, so who will it be tomorrow ? Maybe Poland can do something against Spain or Bahrain will beat Argentina.

8/15 games finished and with Aston Villa being postponed, 6 games remain and Turquinito is leading the pack with 6 correct picks, followed by Avirunes with 5:

There is probably one guy leading with 7 correct and some other guys in the hunt with 6, but it's looking good for Turquinito (and Avirunes) as of now, keeping my fingers crossed Smiley

With buwaytress' late picks, for the first time since week 40 last year, we have no full consensus pick and only the second time ever.

My performance has been poor, but I wouldn't want to win a MM without Flamengo anyway, thats no real win for me then Cool
194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 16, 2021, 02:08:17 PM
Ty's been quiet, wonder who he likes this weekend.

Hehe, I already wrote my leans here and this is still valid as of now Grin There wasn't much movement in the odds and lines as expected; at this stage the odds are close to perfect unless some unforeseen things happen, like injuries/Covid/DUI/domestic violence etc., lol.

I still think the Rams are a bit too high, but we have to factor the weather in and Goff and his thumb in cold temperatures, phew. He is generally not that good/experienced in cold weather, see this tweet and the graphics. So in the end these odds are probably ok and not worth a bet.

The over in Buffalo I like the most, this is a few points too low for my liking. These two teams beat over 49.5 only twice when playing each other, but the Bills defense is shitty in the end I think, while they are always capable of scoring a lot - which they will have to today. And because I trust the Ravens defense more, I also like them ML.

Browns HC/ML has quite some value I think, but I can understand why people are scared to put money on them Cheesy You always have this high-powered KC offense in mind, which can basically score at will, but they are not that good anymore. And they struggled quite a bit this season. There is always this one team surprising in the PO's and I think it could be the Browns this year. People are waiting for KC to explode, but I don't see it tbh. That being said, it's still more likely for KC to advance Wink

Saints/Bucs is fairly priced and if all goes according to plan, Saints should have this, because their defense is just better.

-

What happened to your thread btw ? Don't give up, these kind of threads are interesting Smiley Maybe add some stats, record, P/L etc.

For the SB I would like to see the Saints from NFC and the Bills from AFC. Saints because I always liked them and especially Brees (and their jerseys, lol, I even had one of them, Reggie Bush) and Bills because I want to see the very disturbing pics of the Bills fans celebrations Grin

196  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Bitcoin & die Steuer - FAQ on: January 16, 2021, 11:07:37 AM

Here are the picks:

Until rdbase showed up, we had two consensus picks, but now it's only one and that is Ajax. Other highly trusted teams are Watford, Leeds, Chelsea, Napoli, Tottenham and Liverpool (to my surprise) this week. Apart from Feyenoord losing being super likely^^, we have these uncovered outcomes: Benfica, Fulham, Gala all to win and the draw at Sheffield. 19% draws picked is quite high. Inter vs Juve will be fun, because it's the last game this week and just like us, people will have picked all outcomes, so the then leaders in the SB leaderboard will be super nervous I guess. I hope I am already out by then....or lead by 2 Grin

Good luck Smiley

Joining as well..

Welcome to the MM family Smiley Any order is fine basically, but.....

And I copied from tyK, so I guess this is the order he preferred.

....yes, I do have a preferred order and that is the one you can also see in the public table, because it's just the easiest to put the picks in. I normally add the games to the public table as soon as they have been published, so if in doubt, one can just copy them from there and then add the individual picks.

My first try here on this thread and sportsbet.io hopefully too many draws helps me for some better result. Smiley

Welcome to you as well Smiley

Umm, whats H, 2, B, U stands for? H seems to stand for Home I think

I have H = home win, B = away win, 2 = huge away win, U = draw.

Are you actually saying that you know who are top 6 Cape Verde players Smiley

Well, you can just check who are these players playing in Spain, France, Germany and Romania - they should be the stars Grin And the team page actually lists the key players and surprise surprise, it's five of the six players playing in these countries:

Key players: Delcio Pina (back), Leandro Semedo (back), Ivo Santos (back), Elcio Fernandes (goalkeeper), Edmilson Araujo (left back)

Semedo plays at León, currently #4 in Liga Asobal. Pina in La Rioja, even #3. I was looking for that Santos guy, because the website says he plays in Germany, but couldn't find him in the roster of Bergischer HC. Turns out he plays only for their second team Cheesy

I think it's better to skip this, there are probably better things to bet on today Roll Eyes I will follow the game though and come here bragging, if CV manages to beat the HC, lol.

199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The 27th World Handball Championship 2021! on: January 15, 2021, 12:28:13 PM
Cape Verde is battling some outbreak also, but so far it looks like they are going to play, though they are still in Portugal as of now. They will play Hungary on Friday, HC-14.5 looks like a good bet under these circumstances.

By now Cape Verde has travelled to Egypt without 6 players and 4 staff members, amongst them their coach, according to local news site. The HC for Hungary went up to 17.5 and I am thinking about placing a bet on Cape Verde actually, because missing 6 players is probably not that much of a deal, if it isn't their best players. Unfortunately no names were mentioned, if someone has them available, please post.

We have 4 portuguese-speaking teams in Egypt, so Handball is on the rise in these countries and the majority of players from Cape Verde do actually play in some bigger leagues, so I doubt they are just cannon fodder:

The 23-man Cape Verde squad named for their Egypt 2021 training camp in Portugal in November featured 12 players based in Portugal, five in Cape Verde, three in Spain, and one each in France, Germany and Romania, with many having experience in Europe’s top leagues, including the EHF Champions League Men.

Missing all these players/staff could actually result in being even more motivated and glue this team together as a unit. We have seen it before, what this can do to the team spirit and also what it probably does to the opponent, like "they are missing 6 players, we will win this easily with minimal effort".
But if it's 6 top players missing for CV, then I would probably skip it......

Here are my picks:

Lazio - Roma X
Porto - Benfica X
Wolfsburg - Leipzig 1
Watford - Huddersfield 1
Leeds - Brighton 1
Fulham - Chelsea X
Stuttgart - M'Gladbach 1
Leicester - Southampton 1
Napoli - Fiorentina X
Aston Villa - Everton 1
Sheffield United - Tottenham 2
Ajax - Feyenoord 1
Besiktas - Galatasaray 1
Liverpool - Manchester United 1
Inter - Juventus 1

Lots of tough games for my liking, but would make no sense for SB to just include the easy ones Tongue I hope I get at least one X right for tomorrow, then there would be hope left, lol.

I don't think we should introduce some extra fee for side events, because it will just complicate things and scare people away in the end. Then you will have some people joining and others not and it will create a hot mess Grin
