Im in the same position and sold @780, waiting for a price dump back to ~7xx. I hope for the friday or saturday dump like it happened so often in the last 2-3 weeks.
This strategy has never worked for me. Typically because I think like everyone else and thus prevent the outcome. You are best off NOT thinking like everyone else and thinking about what people MIGHT be thinking in the future. We know one thing. The trend for Bitcoin has been remarkably positive and as we become more embedded in society the trend gets reinforced.

If, for example, in the unlikely event that SHA-256 becomes compromised I for one am quite glad that there will be blockchains around based on an alternative hashing algorithm e.g. Litecoin.
Thing is, in such an unlikely event, bitcoin would change to SHA-512 or whatever would be cool then, overnight. Altcoins could serve some purpose I guess, as experimenting grounds with various chain logic parameters, or lighter coins for some lighter purposes, but I think it's a pretty solid statement that none of them would match BTC in value without some very serious investment / backing first. Any good advances in altcoins could be easily ported to bitcoin, with it's brand name recognition and infrastructure, so just "being better" in something minor won't do it. This, exactly. Does anyone really expect that if some catastrophic flaw were to ever be discovered with Bitcoin that the developers would not make every effort to change and work around it? Same with all the "advances" that the altcoins implement; if anything is worthwhile, it would be integrated into Bitcoin itself. There are too many people, especially with money invested, to let things dwindle away. If it looked like Bitcoin was falling into oblivion in favor of an altcoin then changes would be mandated by the community. Let's ask ourselves a simple question. Are there any "alternative" Internets? The answer is no. There are separate and bastioned networks that use IP but the Internet itself is one whole. BTW, it has limitations on IP addresses sorta like we have limitations on bitcoins. IPv6 is HUGE but the bits to the far left are still scarce in quantity . Bitcoin is quite similar to the Internet. The "global" ledger of record is likely to remain the same out of massive convenience. Off shoots will develop but they are highly unlikely to replace.

Bitstamp has just gone horizontally linear after a perfect hyperbola. I've never seen anything like this.
Ominous... Well, someone has to make a move. What's it going to be?

Good things come to those who are patient.
I think the next floor will be higher. There seems to be an incredibly brief window where things go below the floor (flash crash). Maybe she will get lucky.

this thread is so bullish. I mean over 70% think $30,000 BTC will happen! I wish it could, but even if crypto in the form we know it does survive the next 2-3 years, bitcoin is one of the worst cryptos out there. the guinea pig. It's soooo slow. If it does survive it will just be as a store of wealth but for transactions, it's deeply flawed. anyway, it's heading back to $400 in the next 2 - 3 days. Maybe People can conduct transactions just fine with only 1 confirm - speed is no issue. Heck, they really only need to wait a few seconds and watch for further transactions from the same addr. This is not a problem. Seems like 11 hours to the next jump in difficulty (900M) Miners gonna feel the pinch.

“We decided we should take Bitcoin because we’re an entrepreneurial, forward-thinking, digital-thinking agency. It’s a great demonstration of how we can work in our business,” says Hall.
way to go Mr. Hall, whoever you are!

I love exploration like that. Bitcoin was at 13$ one year ago. So the price is risen 6600%. So therefore the in one year the price is at 50 000$. An by the end of 2015 we see 350 000$. And guess what we see in 2040 Oh yeah, from dec 2011 to dec 2012 it were only 400%? Hm let's see: Dec 2009: 0$, so we skip that. Dec 2010: 0.24$ Dec 2011: 3.5$ Dec 2012: 13$ Dec 2013: 900$ So we draw a regression line. Or let's just calculate: 0.24*(growing rate)^3 = 900$ -> 1500% So: Dec 2014: 13,500$ Dec 2015: 200,000$ Dec 2020: 150000000000$ Dec 2050: you get the idea -> and this is exactly what rpietila did. I think he also never heard of a S-curve. Where are we on the s-curve? I think we are very low and the market is far from saturation. Assume all smart phone holders might be a good top end number for adoption (although M-Pesa and such are still key)

except for me as a computer enthusiast and I was interested in the fact the silk roads was able to exist. I mean price had nothing to do with why I initially found Bitcoin just saying. I'm also quite sure many many many people bought some for tons of reason other than speculation and they ending up winning just out of pure luck.
+1 this. I was in way before price started doing the monkey dance. Way too fascinating what Bitcoin can do.

The date 9 december 2013. might want to specify december in the title. i read this as September 2013. I am so lame . I fixed by changing to 9/12 in the title. maybe I should just put the whole thing.
