181  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Free Mining Stats iPhone App on: July 04, 2011, 05:11:58 AM
BTCG works for me after ending the app and bringing it back up. Still nothing on deepbit though!
182  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Free Mining Stats iPhone App on: July 04, 2011, 05:01:40 AM
App doesn't work at all for me. put in my API for deepbit and BTCG and the home page says no API key for all 3.......
183  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~3000 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 02, 2011, 01:54:20 PM
same 1.5MH/s @ 24/7
Code:
You generated 0.58045505 BTC in the last 24 hours.
worse for me at .045 BTC since last night with 1.8mh/s ,  sigh
Jen

I really hope you guys are talking GH/s. If you guys are earning that much on a couple MH/s you are KILLING IT.
184  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~3000 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 02, 2011, 01:50:49 PM
I had to jump ship. Glad I did b/c all of my miners were pointed to US Central. Will be back once all of this gets sorted. BTCG has by far the superior user interface over all of the other pools I have looked at.
185  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Thought for cooling multiple cards... on: July 02, 2011, 04:58:39 AM
Yes there is, it's called water cooling.

Cool douche... Way to add an intellectual response to the conversation.
186  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: failed to initialize display driver wrapper on: July 02, 2011, 04:11:54 AM
I think it has to do with drivers... One of the cards you are using is a dual core card right? So Windows is seeing 4 GPUs. I have had afterburner work fine with 3 GPU but the second you add the 4th in, you get the 'failed to init...."

I have asked around (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=21352.0). Even put a 2BTC bounty on who could fix afterburner to work with 4 GPU and nobody was able to point me in the right direction. There were a lot of suggestions, but none proved to fix the problem.
187  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Record hashrate for a 5850? (me, showing off) on: July 01, 2011, 04:28:06 PM
How do we know you are using 5850? My miner working at about 285 can solve 6 hashes in under a minute sometimes (luck). Your 408 took 1.25mins to solve 6 hashes. Those numbers translate (I realize luck has a lot to do with it)?
188  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: = ClockTweak = win32 command line clock/voltage tweaking tool on: July 01, 2011, 03:26:51 PM
Wouldn't mind trying this out, but the buy/download link is broked.

I have a 4x6870 setup I can test it on.

Let me know,
Thanks,
Mike

I am full well aware that I don't know much about the mechanics/engineering of these cards.

Essentially I was thinking more along the lines of bypassing/replacing the current fan and using the new fan to move the air through the card better.

@facistmuffin - I am trying to focus on getting the hot air out of the cards. The bottleneck in the current approach is the air intake is choked by the card under it and sucking in pre-heated air. Just trying to come up with a way around those two issues. Any ideas on a better approach?

Just wanting to start a discussion to get everyone's input:
Anyone see any flaws with this idea (other than voiding warranty)? I haven't taken one apart yet, so I don't know what kind of components could be in the way.

They way I see it is there HAS to be a better way to provide cooling for these cards...
190  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: New GPU added, need some help on: June 30, 2011, 05:42:52 PM
I would try to go into Device Manager and delete the secondary adapter (check the box to delete the drivers too). then reinstall the drivers. Sounds like it might be a driver issue.
191  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Thought for cooling multiple cards... on: June 30, 2011, 05:30:09 PM
I am not looking for the air to exit where you cut the side off the shroud.  Where you cut the shroud would be the intake only. The mounting bracket side with the DVI ports would be the exhaust only. From there, close off the current intake and make the air flow only in 1 direction, from the side you cut the shroud to the side with the DVI ports. Make sense? Sound like it would do a better job than the current cooling setup on these cards?
192  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: New GPU added, need some help on: June 30, 2011, 05:26:45 PM
So you select the secondary GPU in settings and click okay. That brings you back to the Afterburner main screen. from there when you change settings and click apply, they don't stay? At the top of the main AB screen does it say the correct GPU series?
193  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: New GPU added, need some help on: June 30, 2011, 05:15:35 PM
In the settings, at the top it will say GPU1, GPU2, etc. to determine which is 1 or 2, start mining on one of them and see which gets hot.
194  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Thought for cooling multiple cards... on: June 30, 2011, 04:37:23 PM
Was thinking how to cool multiple card setups without having to use riser cables (while a great idea, they are kind of pricey and I don't feel like building a wood (or other) chassis to hold the cards on top).

What if you dremeled off the one side of the fan shroud (see my professionally produced diagram below), and put a fan there to push air directly through. This would probably only work on 3 or 4 card setups that use the reference style fan shroud (the boxy looking one) and would only work on cards where the power is coming out the top not the side.

You could get a 120mm (or whatever fan size fits your setup - smaller for 3 card setup & bigger for 4 card setup) fan that pushes 100+ CFM directly through the card. Would be easy to mount a fan there with some zipties or small L brackets

Seems something like this would be much more efficient. You aren't pulling 'pre-heated air' off the card below it. It wouldn't have to make that 90 degree turn which slows the air down. You could drastically slow down the onboard fan (been reading a lot of people having issues with their fans dying after a month or so running at high %). Maybe even seal off the side port with a thin piece of plexi or something (would probably definitely have to seal off the fan port on the card that has the exposed fan port to keep air from diverting out).

Anyone see any flaws with this idea (other than voiding warranty)? I haven't taken one apart yet, so I don't know what kind of components could be in the way.

Let me know what you think.

In afterburner, uncheck the "sync setting for similar cards" and then you can select each one, click ok and it will bring up the settings for that card. then to mod the other card, open settings, select the other card, click okay and it will bring up the settings for the other card.

What software are you using that provides that widget for the temps, fan speed, etc. Been looking for something like that.

Why does it look like we are solving blocks out of order?

197  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: MSI Afterburner "Unofficial Overclocking" GUIDE on: June 30, 2011, 01:26:39 PM
Since you seem to be a guru when it comes to Afterburner, any chance you can help me get it to work with a quadfire??

You can see what I have done already here: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=21352.0

I am offering a handsome reward of 2 btc to get it working.
198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: (BOUNTY: 2BTC & Dirt3 Game) Get Afterburner or Similar running on quadfire on: June 29, 2011, 08:43:09 PM
Are you using dummy heads or are you just switching monitors around? Try taking off the crossfire bridge and running each card individually.

As in -- Plug your monitor into card 1, adjust it with msi afterburner, switch to card 2, adjust, switch to card 3, adjust, switch to card 4, adjust. Otherwise, you might want to grab dummyheads/make 'em yourself for the solution.

That'd would be how I'd go about it. Remember, each card has it's OWN max clock rate (hardware quality differs between cards), so that's why I run each card by it's self. (I can have 1 card clocked to 1000 mhz, another clocked at 990, another clocked at 975..etc)

Using null vga adapters on all but the one with the monitor.  windows sees all of the cards (I can even control all of the cards with CCC, but it is so inconsistent).  Afterburner won't even start up, so I can't do what you are suggesting by trying each card.
199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: (BOUNTY: 2BTC & Dirt3 Game) Get Afterburner or Similar running on quadfire on: June 29, 2011, 05:39:38 PM
Anyone able to do this? I found this guy on youtube that did it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEGIZOO-HYY).

What is everyone with 4 card setups doing (other than linux)Huh

Will up my bounty to 2 BTC for a fast fix!

I have one machine running using CCC, but it is inconsistent and can't OC/UC like I want.
200  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6870 Cards - How fast have you gotten them? on: June 29, 2011, 04:07:43 PM
i got 310mh/s on HIS6870 with 1000/300 and 1.1v (default 1.231v). 64c temperature with fan on MAX
I have never thought of dropping voltage. Always thought you had to bump it up when you OC to keep it stable...  310 is great. how many are you running? what kind of system.

I finally got 4x 6870 to run in the same system. I had 3 running using Afterburner, but when I put the 4th in Afterburner stopped working. So I got rid of Afterburner and am using CCC's Overdrive, which is an awful utility (can't do voltage, settings never stay after reboot, can't downclock memory).

I would pay someone a 5 btc to fix afterburner to work with 4 cards!!
