Just wanted to let you know that I will talk to one of the MC2 developers with regard to Proof of Burn tomorrow around this time. I wonīt necessarily focus on Quark as the volume is so low that for people who are buying in it would be an issue but will still discuss it with him.

Any update on this?

Yesterday I talked to _ingsoc, the intermediary between tacotime and the guys who are working on this project. I chatted with him about 1 hour and it was pretty interesting, however, they still need some months to get ready for cooperation from what I understand. Some crucial decisions (e.g. with regard to how to distribute liquidity in a fair way) havenīt  been taken + he was pretty reserved when it came to talking about his team (he repeatedly said, that he doesnīt want to talk about this at this point). To me thatīs too much secrecy and too much future talking. I will watch the project anyway. If you want to use parts of the concept, please feel free to do so.

Btw. maok there is no need for excuses as we are all are free what to do in our lives (thought that were your words). I decided for myself that itīs not worth to put more effort into it and I will certainly not let anyone blame me for NOT wasting more of my own time than I want to, ok?

@Netnox

Interesting Draft and i'll keep on eye on it.

Do you agree on coins which have devs who are visibly present like giving video interviews in a professional manner, give presentations and basically show and present themselves have a higher chance to succeed? Coindevs like Bitcoin/Litecoin/Ethereum have all devs who people regularly see. This for me as an investor can give more trust. All in all from what i've seen from you, you would make a good dev.

In the end, the protocol canīt be controlled if itīs open source (and thatīs the good part about it), but people will look out to create a community and for people who lead discussions, so, yes, I believe having a visible steering group makes sense, particularly as long as crypto needs to be considered as start-up. However, I donīt believe itīs only about visibility (and competence) itīs also about the ability of people to participate in the process. This is why I think MC2 aim to use an inflation rate that can be manipulated by the holders of the currency makes sense and gives the community a better control of the currency.

^^ I don't agree entirely, Crypto wasn't designed not having a core community, but to be a decentralised currency with the meaning of not relying on a bank. I believe trustable core members can give the rest more confidence and structure. Without it projects, tasks etc can become a clusterfuck.

Thatīs it and thatīs exactly what happens to most Altcoins because they have a 0-structured community. In most communities hopes rely on the activity of the developers and once they withdraw people get nervous because they donīt know what to do. Actually that is what we saw with Quark (and I think partwise with Peercoin): the absence of the developer in public discussion made vast amounts of members losing their trust in the currency.  If you have a structure where it is clear that people are only in charge because the community backed them and that they can and will be replaced by others, communities wonīt rely that much on single person as they do now - which in fact makes it more "decentralized" than it is normally if you want to look at it this way - there are always some that wonīt understand that, though Smiley

QuarkFX,
Have you officially left Quark? If so, that's quite unfortunate.

YC

Oh sanity, the last pages look like a car accident.

Yes, I sold off and withdraw my ressources.

From the last pages it is probably obvious why, but the main reason was the fact that Kolin and Vic silently released Mimiccoin as Quarks future merge mining coin (intentionally low profile with basically anything but a client), set up a sockpuppet dev account and pretended later they "found" it coincidentally (fun fact: immediately after Julie pointed everyone to the obvious fact that this was a setup). And then the stuff around that issue. There is hard proof because the email of the initial plan was forwarded.

Anyway, I now read all the youngest announcements Kolin made and think you should mark his words - because given his rich account of fake announcements or announcements that turned out to be outright lies it is likely that none if them will take place.

Respect goes to Maok who obviously tries the best for the community, even though I don't see the prospect he sees. I don't go in grief or anger as I still have contact to people who are still in and will check in every now and then.

All the best to you Smiley

185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Core - Building crypto that rewards all network activities on: August 20, 2014, 02:51:42 PM
I became involved with Crypto first time in 2010 when I read an article on Bitcoin. I really liked the idea of cash on the net and the possibility to exchange funds without a bank to be involved. Then in early 2013 I was caught up by the hype around Bitcoin. I bought some at 60 USD and saw them rise and fall. Since then I became involved in crypto communities, mostly in Quark (as you can see by my nick). Being a designer I helped with both community building and creating artwork.

However, I experienced that most cryptocommunities lack of ressources that allow to proceed in development and promotion. They also lack of group integration as day traders, P&D groups and people who are eagerly looking forward for the next peak (to sell off) are in general pretty dominant. The fact that basically all cryptocurrencies lack of a fair distribution (supposedly, because real distribution can only be assumed) allow for take-away effects and massive dumps that have the potential to erode the necessary optimism within the community to move things forward. This leaves many crypto"communities" as mere partners of convenience: as soon as the rates are dropping many communities easily fall apart.

All this scares away those people who are potentially interested in a anonymous/pseudonymous currency that is independent from central banking systems. We need to remember that there are (and have been) active communities who are supporting regional currencies and are mostly troubled by creating a working payment infrastructure. Crypto could be a big help but wonīt be touched by those people unless there are solutions that apply with the community character that these networks are based upon. In the end the community and not the marketcap is the backbone of every currency.

I believe that "start-up" currencies heavily rely on the ability of a core team to work together and move things forward. This is why the proposal does not contain a lot of technical specifications for a new currency, but proposals how to get a community running. I invite everyone who is interested in building this kind of community/currency to join #coreproject on freenode, contact me or simply discuss on this thread.

186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 19, 2014, 04:15:29 PM
LOL who the hell said i sold my cloaks?

who said that i even owned any? well i do but...

all i'm saying is that when PoSA finally came out, this coin got dumped like i've never seen, now a day after the dev has said that their current implementation does not work, and that they're going to have to start everything from scratch again with a new idea that will hopefully pass the audit (nothing to say that it will)... and that it should take about a month to get a working implementation running again, and then the price goes up?

crypto is fucking retarded. everyone's just trying to play everyone for chumps and no one is actually investing in anything they think is "good".

and for the guys who were saying i was making shit up here's the quote directly from alty/thedagger himself, speaking to the roadmap IF the new idea even passes an audit:

"If the results are a pass we will pursue implementing and marketing our new protocol, which we expect to take approximately a month – it’s a complete overhaul."

so by that logic we should see a 1-month steady rise in price! lol!

Point is, your statement is wrong. Price wasnīt jumping up when bad news came out: When the "bad" news came out, people dumped even harder than before, thatīs were your simple logic that ends with an elquent "fuck crypto" is wrong. Only after the exchange rate was ridiculously low, the rate flipped back up. So those who sold in panic lost and those who believed in the value of this coin won (big time).

Btw. you are also wrong with "no one is actually investing in anything they think is "good". " Probably you draw conclusions from yourself, idk, but I bought into Cloak when I became convinced of the concept and I bought in again when the prices were dropping. Now I have a good plus and you know what, I am happy and wonīt sell that easy, because I want to see this project succeed.

Beside the people who wanted quick money from the pump, the dump wasnīt logical at all. If I invest in a coin and the developer tells me "We want to do A B C", then after a while the dev comes up with a message "Look, we didnīt manage for now, but we will try again until we manage to do it" - why would I panic sell? It is actually exactly what I expect how to proceed. Every experiment is based on faillures, but some traders donīt care and/or are stupid (OMG, he says something is not working as it should! PANIC!).

When I put money into this project, I knew there were chances that things turn out differently as the product was not there in first place - and I will be there looking forward for the delivery of a trustless POSa and OneMarket - not to dump on that but to spend my money there.

how is the price going up???

bad news = price goes up

good news = price goes down

fuck crypto

Lol, sure. Have you watched the charts? People were dropping their Cloak after reading TheDaggers statement concerning the audit. They all deserve to have lost their money for not holding against the panic.

And thank you for letting me buy cheap cloaks Smiley
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 19, 2014, 07:46:30 AM
damn whats happened was this a scam
Short answer: no

what happened was it just successful fud

One reason why prices exploded was a pump&dump scheme that was orchestrated through Bobsurplus and the people round him (and probably other P&D traders). TheDagger refers to this in his latest information. Of course, some people assumed a dev conspiracy. Fact is, Bobsurplus "admited" that it was him and the people who follow him to make money manipulating the price on Cloak. The scheme was described here and you should particularly look at the post that was later on deleted by Bobsurplus (https://i.imgur.com/fH1wLOs.png) where he talks about price manipulation.

I personally donīt  think that the fact that this kind of things are done in Crypto because people want to make quick BTCs makes this kind of scam more legitimate, but we have to deal with the situation that pumpers & dumpers are around and are looking out for your money short-term. So, if you bought in high, that may be really painful for you because it may take much longer until your initial investment pays back (if ever), but you can see from the past that every coin gets this pumps, not all survive but promising projects have the potential to reach new heights. Look at BTC - it was pumped to 30$ and then fell back to 50cts. Obviously many people made quick money short term and certainly not all of them held their BTC to profit from values above 100 or 500 $.

If people want a project like this to succeed they need to stop thinking short-term - even if others do. One fortunate fact when prospect is bad is, that at least a larger part of day-traders left the boat. This leaves the developers and us as community with time to work on project to create a stronger foundation.

Also, people should join cloaktalk.org, because it serves much better to discuss on the future of this coin.

DEVS DID INSIDE TRADING. THEY KNEW POSA DIDINT WORK FOR DAYS AND DEVS AND WHALES WERE SELLING.

JUST SEE THE CHART, IT FELL FROM 300K SO FAST, THIS IS NOT NORMAL

Provide your proof or shut up.

I see lots of trolls who only want to help others.  Why am I sceptical about that?

I think all those who complain about the price should leave as soon as possible. I found the presentation of the Audit result honest and it is plausible to me why the schedule couldn't be kept. I don't see why people should complain, risk is what you take in crypto and many coins could be scams (including Bitcoin). To me this one doesn't look like a dev scam but like it has been pumped and dumped by p&d groups (in fact we know that has been the case). This is like a startup and god knows if it will be success.  So if people invested money for a safe return, let me tell you: that was stupid. Sell off and leave. If you see a prospect, buy more. Easy decision. Smiley

I think you're missing the point.  Cloak is nothing without support from its investors.

Yeah but not from investors  who are basically whining that they missed the right moment to dump. If you were a LTI you wouldn't be that nervous to get an update even though comments are permanently made (I admit: you need to read through a lot of fud and panic posts).

Seriously if the coin fell to 1 satoshi it still wouldn't be dead. The only reason why people claim it to be dead is because they EXPECT that everyone will look for the next rise and dump. Even that wouldn't kill tte coin.

I see developers who are more active than all other devs I saw before in crypto. I see ideas that have value and I see people collaborating. If we wouldn't have to deal with "investors" who believe they are the center of the world we would have more resources to move on.

Alright.

Quarkfx, where are you? Can I please have the underlying photoshop of this effect?
Or whatever software you used to exactly create the quarklogo.

Btw. I produced several animated videos for Quark, networked hundreds of hours to get people into the core group and worked with them, organized team meetings, set up a team folder structure and organized the designs, translated press releases, wrote to potential partners, developed the concept for the new forum and provided an endless amount of artworks for others that I never asked any credits for. I guess you somehow get why I find your attempts to put me in the "not doing anything for Quark" corner rather amusing with your few meme GIFs that can be generated within seconds. I see from your potential that my work isnīt needed anymore and will consequently take it offline.

I sold my funds and will get involved in other projects. If you need work to be done, please contact others.

You guys need to post the address you're sending from too..

Problem is that you canīt chose from where you send coins from (or I am ignorant, then enlight me). The only way I see would be transferring all coins to a new own address. Then sending it to the recipient and documenting it together with sending it to the own address. If there is a better way, please explain Wink

Anyone actually do any PoSA transactions?

It would be GREAT if someone would post address sent from and receiving address...

Let's start there...

Try me!

C3EcT3gFbyJ832MeVRgBDbMJZHsPCLbcJZ

Shows nothing...  How much is in your wallet?  Do a screen shot and post it.

I'm just saying we should be showing PoSA transactions as a community to show it works.

Oh, I was expecting someone to send me something like 0.01 to present functionality.

Send me a posa transaction, I'll paste a screenshot :p

(Also I have nothing against receiving huge ammount of them)
