Help!!!

Hello everyone, I am a newbie and am in dire need of help as I'm eager to learn but I have little or no experience on how to navigate through the forum.
I joined the forum late 2022 but most of my discussions are being moved to off topics, probably because my discussions aren't of good qualities.
One of the reasons why I got depressed and left but I am back now, in good health and sane mind, ready to learn to improve the quality, and also give back positive impact to the community.

Please kindly recommend me books and guide on how to be better.
Thanks in advance

Depressed? For what exactly? You are eager to rank up for signature else I don't think ranking up in this forum worth been depressed but don't get me wrong, there is nothing absolutely wrong in signature earnings.

I want to highlight some of the mistakes and things you are doing wrong since you registered into this forum. You have been making threads about life situation that are neither politics or speculation and those kinds of threads belong to off topic discussion, all boards in this forum are created for special discussion, so when you post something that is not related, they take it off.

Secondly, you haven't been active in places where merit are most time available, you should visit places that are not spamming like the altcoin discussions and the rest that do have less engaging threads.

Soln: Take your time and read this:- Newbie-Read before posting, learn about everything Bitcoin and understand why you need to learn about Bitcoin and you will be fine.
182  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be ready when it comes to selling? on: March 21, 2024, 07:54:44 PM
I understand it is more safe to have crypto on cold storage but is it less likely in the peak of a bull run for exchanges to fall? If so, I feel it would be better to send all of my crypto to exchange in advance to then be ready to sell everything.

This may be obvious to some but this is my first bull run and want to be ready when it comes to selling and I am just not sure what is best way of planning to sell.

I understand your strategy, looks smart but more trappy to me. Don't leave your coin on any exchange if you don't have business selling that particular time because between that range of bullrun, a lot can happen, 1 months in crypto looks like 1 year in crypto world, a lot things can happen that period. You don't even need a centralized exchanges to sell your coins, kindly use a Dex from your laptop and connect your hardware wallet to sell your coin to USDT, it's as simple as that and USDT use for anything you want at any time without worrying of any volatility.

If this is your first bullrun, please have it at the front of your mind that any coin can pump to any price, what you have in mind for the coin to perform is not what night happen. If you have enough profits that you think it's significant enough, sell the coin and move out of the market. If you are in profits and having the mindset to use your money to buy a car, you might keep holding forever until tte profit becomes loss.
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 Years ago people laughed at me bcz of THIS on: March 21, 2024, 07:44:32 PM
I know the corona virus affected the price of bitcointhat led many people to sell out at that time but I doubt coronavirus occured just because of bitcoin.  The existence of corona virus have nothing to do with bitcoin,  their might be something the caused the virus to occur but bitcoin was not the target, this deadly disease caused ao many effects on important things that is very valuable to human life. It also affected the economy in general.

Many articles suggest the virus originated from China but irrespective of where it comes out from, just know that the virus was a biological weapon set to wipe out the population of the world, it could also be a weapon for shock market to crash and it did, even oil was so red that year and speculative even when no news was there, a lot of people sold their investment because of food during the lock down and you know, during war investment doesn't matter, what matter is food, water and means of survival.

Bitcoin wasn't the only asset that crash that time but it hurt the crypto market more because a lot of people were bullish on the coming halving which was great but the the volatility of Bitcoin is crazy, the volatility was one of th reason why Bitcoin crash was high than the stock market but the recovery was crazy. A lot of people made money after the halving.
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How old would you be by 2140? on: March 21, 2024, 07:22:48 PM
I don't need to beat around the bush further because what I want you to know that perhaps you haven't thought to sit and give a careful consideration about, before being bothered about any FUD and FOMO Or the mere thoughts of investing in BTC is this;
* how old would you be by 2140?
* What's your excuse for not investing in owning Bitcoin now?

With the epistle you wrote up there, I don't expect you to ask the first question because you and I will be skeletons in the grave by that time. I hope the person reading this in the year 2140 gives me some credit for saying this because I wouldn't be breathing by then Cheesy
OP, an average life span of normal human is 80 and if you are lucky, you could go to 90, only few numbers 1 out of 10 do reach 100 years without kicking the bucket, with my current age I don't think I need to discuss about my age in 2140 because I will be resting by then.

I have some Bitcoin but not fully gauge as I want to invest and that's because of my financial weight, not every one can afford to invest in Bitcoin and some people you see that didn't invest in Bitcoin is because they don't have money to pay bills, Bitcoin is investment is going to be the last thing they want to try out. In addition, not everyone will invest in Bitcoin even though it comes down to $10k.
185  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin is the only crypto you should BUY on: March 20, 2024, 07:23:06 PM
We should also not compare the value movement of altcoins to bitcoin because no matter which angle we look at, they still follow the value movement of the mother coin which is bitcoin. As you mentioned, some altcoins can be exceeded the price of BTC, so it's up to you where you want to invest. If you want to make a lot of money here in crypto, there are many different ways to make a profit here, it can be via signature campaign, investment and trading so it's up to you which one you are better at.

Your narrative is not clear, money flow between Bitcoin and altcoins and the time that happen is when we are in bullrun. For instance now, Bitcoin has had a lot of inflow of money coming from investors but now that halving is some weeks to go, people has started selling and moving their money from Bitcoin to altcoins, they are buying altcoins in anticipation for altcoins bull run after the bitcoin halving and when altcoins are done of their run, the money goes back to stablecoins.

Bitcoin profit might not be big but it's safer than altcoins but that doesn't mean it's not risky investment. All coins are risky but one Bitcoin is more like best of them, altcoins will give you all you ever dream of but a single news is enough to turn your investment to zero, Ongoing allegations of FTX is a clearly example of what I am trying to explain.
186  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are some countries being sentimental with bitcoin and the cryptos at large? on: March 20, 2024, 06:41:17 PM
Are the government self-centered?
Are they protecting their citizens from an omen that the cryptocurrencies portrays?
Or they're just being awkward from embracing digital developments?

Are you serious about these questions? I read all your comments but these ones capture my attention the most. I think you should know better how the government work and how selfish they are. The government is self centered and everything that citizens does and it doesn't benefits them, they discard and let it go, they don't want to see it even exist and if they can't control it, then it becomes a problem to them. Look around you, the crypto adoption you are seeing here and there, apart from coperate organizations and companies, no government has ever adopt Bitcoin openly, only El Salvador has did but they are just a small country without their own currency.

The government isn't protecting their citizens financially, they are only afraid that people will wake up and abandoned what they have built for them, I mean the fiat and regular investment and focus on cryptocurrency, most people that has joined crypto today don't want to have anything to with the government again and that's what the government fear, becoming woke is their biggest fear.
187  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stop paying money to learn trading when you can learn it yourself on: March 20, 2024, 06:28:18 PM
I don't have problem about paying for trading but the fact that they are paying for some kind of groups to get signal makes me wonder how people are too lazy to learn something on their own and when you ask them why they go from group calls to another group, what you will hear is that before they can understand everything about trading, the market will not be bullish again and they lose the chance of making money in the bull run and I get surprised why not learn trading when we were in the bear market until now.

Anytime I see people making videos of their academy and how they have impact knowledge to people through trading, I immediately assume they are just bluffing and all the money they claim they made from trading is not trading, it's money they made from referral from exchanges and money they collected from fellow students that want to learn trading. A serious trader don't have time to be showing how to draw trend line, he will rather be playing and doing his thing to make all the money.
188  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: "Everyone" is all wrong about Bitcoin... on: March 20, 2024, 05:54:47 PM

Almost everyone is wrong, and only because; Bitcoin is not at all about all the deep dips but the stabile growth with the high peaks. That's it and that's all of what most of them just don't get.

You sound more like you bought Bitcoin at the top! Cheesy

Who and who do you mean as "everyone" in this context? The last I check, there large outflow from Bitcoin ETFs between Monday and Tuesday which signify that people were selling their Bitcoin ETFs and you know very well that they started this run of Bitcoin ever since the application was approved, you can't blame people for becoming bearish in a short time frame but over all, Bitcoin growth is not linear, it's dynamic but never go below where it started, it's just about forming new resistance and come settle at the old support.

If people sell Bitcoin, I don't think anyone has the right question their choice of selling, we all can't think the same, some people are short term holders, some are long term and don't forget that we also have traders who open and close positions anytime they like or feel like trading and they all contribute to where Bitcoin is right now.
189  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Success is a meaningless word without failure. on: March 20, 2024, 05:43:07 PM
success is actually meaningless word without failure, because most of us loose some of their trades and at same time feel very disappointed because they only focused their mindset on making profits alone without anticipating any chances of loss or failure. losing a particular trade or several trades does not really make you a failure instead it gives you the opportunity to embrace every important lesson that you failed to achieve in your missteps or in your wrong turns.

Lastly, please my fellow beginners let's not be discouraged by the number of losses or failures we experience while trading because failure begets success, also we should focus more on hodling coins even when we trade because we cannot predict the price fluctuations of coins in the future.

Failure is what makes you value success by the time you reach up there but not a necessity achieve anything. You can failed and try again and still fail you know? You can fail and get discourage to abandon what you are doing. Not all life is program to happen the common way, we have people that through their life, failure don't comes their part. I have a friend who has achieved a lot through the education and right from his undergraduate and today he has finish his PHD working in one petroleum cooperation, that's how some people achieved without failure.

However, if we come down to trading, then it's applicable because if you don't make some mistakes, you might not really understand the what trading is about but when you fail the first time and you improve, it will be something of the past and it will guide you a lot anytime you want to trade.

As for holding of coins, there is nothing philosophy about it, just buy the damn coin and forget about it that it even existed, sell it when you see everyone running after the market which is the bull run.
190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you avoid some games because of racism? on: March 20, 2024, 05:32:41 PM
Especially on sports betting we see some racism happening and this happened in most of the league that are popular of which so many persons bet on. It bothers me to ask, that imagine you placed a bet and somehow you have 80% assurance that it would come out successful. And on the process of waiting for the game to end there was some racism manipulation in the game which made you lost the game. It could be football or other sports cause its mostly found in sports.

Next time would you choose to not bet on a particular game because you feel the members of the VAR, or the referee are racist, and you are sure that there would be some manipulation?

I'm there to gamble, I don't have the time to discriminate ruling of the gambling, my mani objective of betting is to make sure that what I predicted  happen, if the league match I include in my bets has the probability of attracting racism and which will favour a particular side, that's what I'm going to bet, I have no business in what happen in the game. I believe Fifa and other football federation are watching and knows the necessary action to take to handle the issue of racism but you know they wouldn't do that because they rather watch a particular player get insulted than lose the revenue they generated from fans that bought ticket.

There is one fact I will like you to know about football or any other popular sports, racism will never end, even outside football, there is high discrimination of blacks from other part of the world and despite all this rules and law put in place to stop it, it's like they aren't doing anything at all.

192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 19, 2024, 09:03:07 PM
Indeed, in this season Manchester United managed not to lose by Liverpool because after all, their first meeting this season was also in a Premier League match when Liverpool played at home, but Manchester United managed to hold Liverpool with a goalless draw because the final score was 0-0. Also, misfortune happened again to Liverpool against Manchester United in the FA Cup because Liverpool lost the match.

Liverpool lose to Manchester united but Manchester united cant win over minor teams, like where is thy energy they used to win Liverpool, what can't they repeat the same so they can adjust a little and finish the season among the 4 best team to proceed to the Champions League but it seems their chance of going there is still low. They need atleast 9 points to reach that level and for that to happen, Tottenham and Aston Villa must lose three games before the end of the season and Manchester must win most of their matches which we both know that it's impossible.

Quote
But for me, even though Liverpool was eliminated in the FA Cup but because match was played at Old Trafford then yes, it's natural that Liverpool lost. But anyway, Liverpool is also really not easy to beat even though Liverpool doesn't play all its key players in that match. But for their next meeting match in the Premier League match later even though it will be played at Old Trafford too, I personally still believe that Liverpool are still able not to lose because I am sure Liverpool will beat Manchester United at Old Trafford later.

If there is anything unique about Klopp this season is because he doesn't rely on single players, he shuffle them and the team still deliver, I remember Salah going for Afcon and the club was doing well even in his absence, when he came back with injury, the club was doing well, players like Van Dijk, Darwin Nunes and many more were reliable for him and all deliver and even though they are not first place, I respect them.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When is best for a player to draw the line? on: March 19, 2024, 07:57:45 PM
Just for discussions and ways to educate or share knowledge with ourselves when and how to draw the line when gambling,  because for some reasons, some gamblers have arrived at unstable realities because of the lack of stoppage time while gambling so let's talk.
When do you stop?
Some stop gambling immediately the record a big lose, while others continues when they lose with hope of recovering.
Some other gamblers stop playing when the win they first few games, while other continue to chase the loses, and technically ww can tell in accuracy when this things happens, but when is the best time to stop gambling and take a break?

1-when you lose?
2- when you win?

You can't tell unless you have had experience in gambling and the experience is what teaches you when to stop. If you sure conversant with winning, your body will understand and if you are conversant with the pain of loss, you will know when it's time to pack your bags and leave the casino or put the phone down. With my experience with sportsbets, if an initial deposit has been made and bets are been stake on and upon seeing the result on my different bets, if my bets give me break even, I don't wory and I try again but if that initial deposit give some good profits, I take out the profits and continue with the same amount of the initial deposits.

However, if my games gives me a minor loss, I wouldn't bother, will continue playing until I win something worth my time but as soon as the initial deposit is affected, I take my love from the betting platform and I don't risk another money even though my brain is trying to convince me that there is a simple game I can make some money from, I don't buy into such temptation, before warn is before harm they say and that's what I do when it come to gambling.
194  Economy / Economics / Re: Everything is over priced but people keep spending on: March 19, 2024, 07:39:08 PM
The cost of things has gone up so much so that it's glaring. Imagine paying 5-12$ for an average meal you could get before for 3$. The jump cost is extremely high. Cooking a meal at home can cost you the same amount you would spend on eating in a restaurant. Funny enough people still afford all these things without complaining. My anger is that we make money to spend it all into our normal life expenses. It's difficult now to save or invest unless you part of the rich people in society. An average man has to just eat, pay bills, and survive.

I like the fact that you said an "average person". Not everyone is working to put food on the table, we have some people that at working, buying all they want in life and also investing more but this is not for an average person. Generally, there is food inflation globally and this is due to shortage fall in global warming affecting everyone. There is shortage of food supply and raw material and so the available ones are having high demand and that's why the prices are not smiling.

There is also a rapid increase in inflation in many countries and decrease in number of job opportunities and the major cause of inflation was because they printed more money than they needed. It's now some of them.are mopping the excess cash in circulation by increasing interest rate to discourage people from borrowing to strengthen their cash flow which is working for some and some are still the same. For those which is working for has increase productivity as well while some are still fighting for inflation.
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank - Safely store your bitcoin on: March 19, 2024, 07:21:03 PM
My idea would be to create a bank to safely store people's bitcoin and other crypto for people who just want to hold for a lot of time.
They would register with the passport or ID, it would cost 100 GBP + 1% to deposit and verify people's identities.
Then, to withdraw, it would take 3 months, they would have to show the passport and have a meeting via zoom once a month during 3 months stating they would want to withdraw, it would cost 300 USD plus 1% of the value.
It would compensate for people who want to hold for a lot of time without having security concerns.

You obviously don't know why we have Bitcoin and why Bitcoin was created in the first place, I will advice you to check Bitcoin whitepaper and the message that was included in the first Bitcoin block that was mine.

Quote
The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks.

Some believe there different context to this message of Satoshi but everything explained about this makes Bitcoin superior to the Banks but from your explanation you want to make Bitcoin looks like the Banks. The Bitcoin was never designed to be like the banks but was created to make you be your own Bank, and how do you achieved that, by having your own key on your hands.

With your private keys and your Bitcoin on your wallet, you will be your own bank, with your key you control your own transaction which makes you censorship resistance of any person, organizations or even the government, with your keys comes freedom. Never give your Bitcoin to any person and never trust anyone with your Bitcoin, Not your keys not your Bitcoin.
196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop adding features to Bitcoin that don't facilitate its use as electronic cash on: March 19, 2024, 07:02:22 PM
Bitcoin was designed to be "electronic cash".  Nothing should be changed in core that does not support this mission.

The title of the Bitcoin white paper - "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System".

You should know that Bitcoin is an open source project which means it's open to everyone and of course development is a must and if the community agree to something for the better of the protocol, it will be reviewed as "Bitcoin improvement proposal" and and agreed date which modification will be added through soft work which means that even though you don't update your client to the latest protocol, you can still use the network efficiently.

You should also know that the phrase electronic cash is not what Bitcoin is today, it has expanded above that level, lightening network has been developed as a base layer through the native chain and everything is working perfectly, the existence of the other chain doesn't affect the main chain. There have been some NFTs on the Bitcoin which doesn't in any way affect the Bitcoin protocol but it's even favoring the miners who collect he fees to provide maximum security for the Bitcoin chain, everything you see accepted into Bitcoin doesn't in any way affect the originality of Bitcoin.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done something crazy to bet? on: March 18, 2024, 10:50:02 AM
Hi community,

I remember when I was in middle school, we used to play cards almost every day, and our stupidity reached the point where we would skip classes while we were inside school. The method of playing was easy, as the largest number was the winning card. So, some of my friends and I would gather in the middle school bathroom and make bets with the money that we had collected  from selling cigarettes.
Of course, this is not something I am proud of and I do not recommend it to everyone, but it's just childhood memories .

-Have you ever bet at the wrong place and the wrong time?

You grew up the street way, not everyone had life hard way but I can relate during my game days in school. In junior school back then, you will be allowed to have game days on every Wednesday and play all the type games you like range from Badminton, Handall, Football, Volleyball, High jump and long jump but cards are strictly prohibited, my school dislike card games because they see you as a wayward person but you know where there is law, some people must still break it.

This faithful day, when others where busy doing there things, some group of us prefer the card game and went to hide in our of the classes. We bets breakfast money and we were playing our stuff until the Labour master came around for check maybe there could be some students hiding and didn't went for any game and that's how we were caught. I after the game time, we were summon to assembly ground and our assets were whoop and was reported to our respective parents, that was my last I did something like that.
198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Is Legal In Our Country But if You Promote It Online You'll Go To Jail? on: March 18, 2024, 10:32:41 AM
I find this unusual and weird I live in a country where gambling is legal there are lotto outletss in every corner, there are horse racing betting outlet and there are online betting station that originates in our country and yet there is a pending bill that if you're going to post or talk about gambling you'll likely going to get fine of 500k pesos or $90k and you will also land in jail.

So if you post that you won in horse racing or you post the winning bets in daily lottery you will likely get charged and penalize, so what do you think of this law, is this right?

This is like saying, you can come to our land, you are allow to farm and harvest for your own consumption but you are not allow to tell anyone that you were able to harvest or had some infested with diseases and you must not tell people that we gave you a land to plant. This is insane and looks more like dictatorship, if you they don't see gambling as social exercise, they shouldn't allow people to play it or legalize it in the first place, it will not only discourage people but it will send a message that gambling is completely not allowed.

On a second thought, I don't think there is a smoke without fire, something must have trigger them to set this kind of rule in place, like we know how gambling influences do spread and how people are lazy to be productive when they see gambling as means of making money when they are supposed to he productive in to boost the economy growth. Kids influence might also be the reason why the ban of promotions I think.
199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake and Bruno Mars An Example of How Gambling Addiction Can Affect Anyone on: March 18, 2024, 09:36:07 AM
While we often discuss Drake's well-documented struggles with irresponsible gambling and the "Drake's Curse", it's important to be aware  that gambling addiction can affect individuals from all walks of life. In this regard, let us take a moment to look at the case of another celebrity, Bruno Mars, whose gambling issues have manifested differently from Drake's.

I think a too much fame makes some people not to do focus on their career and that's exactly what has gotten into Drake's head. His gambling behavior has trended more than his last single and he doesn't really care about the loss which beg the question, is he really using his money to bet or just the bonus given to him by stake platforms, remember he is there brand ambassador.

Quote
Several internet sources today has reported that Bruno Mars borrows money specifically for gambling purposes, this is one thing that goes against one of the  rules of responsible gambling. Bruno currently owes 50 million dollar in gambling debts. I am not going to bore you with the detail. Therefore, I will leave a link to the full story - https://www.nme.com/news/music/bruno-mars-is-reportedly-50million-in-debt-due-to-gambling-3602329.

A waste of his career and his name to be honest, if alone he is worth $50m, I believe he will be respected as one the biggest musicians in US but having a gambling debt without any profit is one of the greatest decision any living would have ever thought.

Quote
The lesson to learn is that gambling addiction is not respecter of Gender, economic status, race, nationality, religion. It will mess you up, bring shame and disgrace to you if you don't abide by the rules of responsible and do all you can to avoid it.

Gambling doesn't even know your age, it doesn't respect your financial status, you can be broke from reckless gambling but in as much as it doesn't respect, it can crown you with respect if and if you exercise risk when playing the gambling, if there is no money made in gambling, many people would visit ones and wouldn't try it it again but the fact that they keep going there, it's not only just the gambling but the money is one thing that makes them visit there.
200  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Tax refund scheme scams on the rise using "Gas fee refunds" on: March 17, 2024, 05:45:18 PM
In the last few days, I noticed a lot of ads with this offer, scammers have spent a lot of money to make this visible. Unfortunately, Twitter or "X" with a new owner has become completely blind to recognize and reject this type of (obvious scam) advertising. I don't even know how many accounts I blocked or muted, but they still appear.

What I have noticed is that because ads are personalized based on a person activity, when an certain ad reach to a user and they noticed there is a click which means you visited, there will be likely possibility of another different ads but similar in your feed or in the comments section. This why you see them keep popping up even as you report the scams ads, sometimes I wonder if they even check when ads are reported.

Have you noticed that all the sites on the list are offline or unavailable? Only Cloudflare response and nothing more.

When I was piling up these links, I didn't report them so that I can get more other accounts that are used for adverts and I was able to gather these ones in just 2 days and after that, I start to report the links but now I the links don't open but even with the reports and "not interested in this ads", they keep coming but the links are not active with verified accounts for that matter. More like a coordinated attack with many verified accounts probably done with bots by the same person.
