181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to measure Bitcoin popularity? on: July 31, 2015, 02:39:45 PM
Best way would be to go to a crowded place and open a booth for free bitcoins. Then see how many people turn up and already know about it. Would be a good measure of how many people are aware of bitcoin and how popular it is.
182  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Google Voice Account - Your personal USA Phone Number Outside USA - $2 on: July 31, 2015, 02:38:48 PM
Since you are selling a lot of craigslist and facebook PVA accounts will these google voice accounts have been used already on those services or will they be brand new ?
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Phuket villa owner agrees to accept bitcoin, how do I proceed on: July 31, 2015, 02:35:05 PM
Make the initial payment with paypal or something cash related and make the remaining payment after reaching there and staying with bitcoins. It will protect you . However i am sure should be safe sending bitcoin too as long as that villa owner is reputed on airbnb.
184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BEST FREE FOOTBALL BETS #1 TIPSTER✔(W400/L125)PREMIUM PICKS FOR ONLY 0.01 BTC!!! on: July 31, 2015, 02:33:29 PM

2nd match
Neustadt   -   LASK Linz

Both teams score
odd:1.75

Likely to go Over 2.5 too. Both teams are offensive I would be surprised if the score isn't over 2.5 . Neustdadt is also on a roll in the last couple games.
185  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why do i get two different QR for the same address? on: July 16, 2015, 01:58:35 PM
because even both codes contains same information, they're both using different version of QR symbol.

for details please refer to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code (actually, pretty nice explanation here)

based on you screens, it seems that first picture from bc.i is version 3 and second one from blockr.io is from version 4. codes looks different, each version using different amount of modules (higher version, more modules), so also code (what you see) is different..

If they are using different generators then how do different interpreters know which generator has been used to decrypt the QR to give an address ? Wouldn't different generators have different address for both QR codes ?
186  Economy / Speculation / Re: $2000 within 2015 on: July 16, 2015, 01:53:22 PM
No way it will go to 2000$ and your posts says halving which will not happen till 2016 . Bitcoin is rather going to depreciate in value specially because its price is just hyped by speculation right now and we can see it is dying again until next speculation .
187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's going up with this address!! on: July 16, 2015, 01:49:58 PM
Hey guys. I've found a private key that matches with a Bitcoin address with funds that I do not own. It is the result to use the passphrase "Bitcoin" in the Brainwallet address generator. The private key is 5KBZytdkzttdedEB7xLom6YnHRCVTNQPUrJiTDJKS7VJUbiX6Di, and the address is 1Q7zx6cUVXDZpAJHgPQwbbZUfTKFFuEV6z.
I've tried to import this key into several wallets, but none of those is able to load the available amount of Bitcoins, so I can't spend them. If you check it in the Blockchain what you find out is that it is full of unconfirmed transactions of 0.00001 BTC. Later on I found this same key in a post talking about spam. Could you tell me what's going on with it? Just curious.

https://brainwallet.org/
http://blockchain.info/address/1Q7zx6cUVXDZpAJHgPQwbbZUfTKFFuEV6z

By the way, as this Bitcoins do not belong to me I am not interested in keeping them. I only want to try the Bitcoin system. I guess that posting the private address is a good proof of it.

There is a currently a spam attack on the network. While we "normaly" have up to 6000 transactions waiting for a confirmation durring prime time, we now have over 60k transactions waiting for a confirmation constantly, at least for the last week. The private key you (and others) found was used in the spam attack, among ~100 other keys and possibly more I dont know about. The funds that are associated with those private keys are of 1000 satoshi each.

Now if you want create a bitcoin transaction it consists of inputs which refer to a previously received transaction. In this case you would refer to those 1000 satoshi transactions (~450k have been confirmed a few days ago) that have been received in the past. Each input uses ~180 bytes and the fee one would normaly use is 10,000 satoshi per 1000 byte. As you can easily see you can only use 5 inputs of 1000 satoshi each if you want to stay below 1000 bytes. 5000 satoshi however is considered a low fee and you would not even send any coins anywhere. Thats why these are next to impossible to spend. Some big mining pool is currently working on a clean up AFAIK as they can just put their own TX into their own block. Everyone else cant really do much about this as paying a higher fee would require you to use more inputs which in turn increases the size which again requires a higher fee to have a chance to get a confirmation under the current circumstances.

Isn't the spam attack over already ? Thought it was only 2 weeks back and not happening any more. I don't see transactions taking time to confirm anymore either.
188  Economy / Services / Re: Looking to Hire - Data Entry on: July 16, 2015, 01:47:53 PM
Would be interested in this as well if you need more data entry uploads. However the price you are offering is extremely less and not attractive.
189  Economy / Speculation / Re: What price will convince you that a Huge new up-move has finally started? on: July 12, 2015, 06:27:26 PM
The price moving up so fast is definitely not a good thing as it could easily happen the other way again . I would have more confidence in bitcoin if the rise was slower . Right now seems to be purely out of speculation.
190  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Exchange Comparison on: July 12, 2015, 06:21:02 PM
Hi I like the site.

You are missing cryptsy, poloniex, and bittrex from the exchanges that I use.  It would be nice to see a trade % on the chart for comparison, as well as the fee to get your coin/money out (which can vary a lot).  Also cost to get money in, because some places like coinbase charge a lot to make fiat into btc.

the three exchangers that you named (cryptsy, poloniex, and bittrex ) are all altcoin exchangers and OP's link only compares the bitcoin exchangers ( trading bitcoin with fiat and vise versa )

but i am very interested to see a comparison between all of the altcoin exchangers, since i mostly do altcoin trading.

You might be able to get a good comparison for thos sites on here :

http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/markets/info
It lists all exchanges based on the volume and its good to head for the one with the highest volume.
191  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: From Where I should start? on: July 12, 2015, 05:49:21 PM
Seems you mean start with trading. Are you advertising that site or actually trying to learn , because that site won't get you anywhere. Start with sites like investopedia and take a look at this thread for some start

192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Potential Banning of Whatsapp in UK / Dispution of BTC businesses ?? on: July 12, 2015, 05:39:56 PM
I am confused. How does banning of services like whatsapp or end to end or PGP would affect bitcoin in anyway ? Don't think they are interrelated in any manner except for some people using PGP to encrypt their communication.
193  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Pay pal selling on: July 12, 2015, 05:37:45 PM
I am wanting to sell Bitcoin on this site using pay pal. The thing that is holding me back is the fear that people will reverse it and I will not get my money from the Bitcoin that I sell. Can someone tell me people that are trustable on this site or how I can prevent this from happening. It would be much appreciated and thank you!
I can purchase bitcoin from you, I have a verified premier paypal since 2011 or 2012, and I've done numerous trades on this forum without a problem.
PM me if you ever want to sell bitcoin. Smiley

I can vouch for this guy. I haven't made any transaction with him, yet. But as you can see on his threads, he's really genuine. A lot of happy customers from his thread that sold their coins for paypal. No bad feedback so far. Good guy monbux to save your day lol.

That's not how you vouch for people.

No wonder so many people here get ripped off, "i never did business with him, but he seems nice, give him your coins..."

Vouching for him would be wrong, but recommending him based on his trades is right here. Better to trade with someone trusted than trading with a regular guy. I have had luck converting on localbitcoins in the past. Lots of reputed traders there too.
194  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: which is best site for accept payment with Bitcoin? on: July 12, 2015, 05:28:11 PM

I have try with bitpay they need verification for start accept payment but i m using okpay here user can pay with okpay and btc ltc so is it best?

Never heard Okpay doing payment processing. You are still better off using Bitpay or coinbase or just posting the QR code instead. If its nothing illegal then giving your ID information should not be a problem.

Hello,
http://motherboard.vice.com/read/wikileaks-is-now-a-target-in-the-massive-spam-attack-on-bitcoin
article explains the delays with BTC transactions lately.
As long as you've done it correctly the coins will arrive.
Definitely not our fault.
Regards,
Eric

Doesn't look like they even cared to read through your case or even view the transaction on the blockchain. You might have explained it incorrectly because based on their reply it sounds you told them that delay on blockchain which isn't the case.
196  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: which is best site for accept payment with Bitcoin? on: July 12, 2015, 03:05:07 PM
You can always bypass everything and just post a QR code of an address you own and start accepting transactions.

Or you can just post you bitcoin address on the site. If you are planning to sell some product then consider incorporating Bitpay or Coinbase. They offer good services as well.
197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bit-Pay Mobile Checkout - this changes everything! on: July 12, 2015, 02:33:22 PM
Does anyone know what happens incase there is a delay on the confirmation on blockchain ? I had a transaction sent to Neteller through bitpay and took around 24 hours to confirm but didn't show up on my Neteller account. Usually it shows up right after 1 confirmation.

Has happened to me in past . The balance eventually shows up in neteller . Contact the support and they will probably expedite it. give them all the details as well.
198  Economy / Economics / Re: Greeks are rushing to Bitcoin on: June 30, 2015, 06:38:23 AM
This is BS. People should buy BTC cause they like it and believe in this tech, not cause their country s being hit by the crisis caused by the same government they ve elected.
Even though the rise in the price might not be due to Greece buying but it certainly has speculations and is causing an upward trend on the price.

Business in Greece is working like everyday, many tourists and they pay by credit card or by cash  Wink In fact - by cash - as banks are closed now  Grin BTC is not so easy to implement in crowd tourist places  Wink
Rather in Crowded places btc seems to work well , as its much faster than by paying by cash or cards. If everyone in Greece right now was using Bitcoins, Tourists wouldn't have to run around looking for banks to convert to EURO from their own country currency, they could just pay with bitcoins.
199  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trading btc on localbitcoins.com on: June 30, 2015, 06:35:53 AM
It's not worth it, you at least should find a real exchange not a p2p platform, this will help you https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=695082.0
You are wrong on this. Exchanges cannot be accessed by everyone in all the countries and it is difficult to use it. People also lack confidence while using them. With localbitcoins , people can trade with people in their own country, and despite the higher price they are able to buy the bitcoins from someone trusted and that too immediately with an escrow in the middle.
200  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Good ways to invest Bitcoins on: June 30, 2015, 06:34:11 AM
You can do short term investment like doing short selling Bitcoins. Short selling allows you to profit from drops in the value of a commodity in the same way that you would profit from rising prices if you bought it. If you are clever then you can make money buying and selling alt coins/othercryptocurrencies. Depending on whether you think the price will rise or fall(has high risk in this one though.)
And also it may avoid the ponzi scheme, and also the scammed. And about short selling, i don't have any idea about that because i never used. can you explained it to me? Please?

short selling is just shorting nothing more nothing less, you sell because you think the price will drop a little or by a good rate, then you buy back

But how can we short bitcoin as we don't have any agent in between like in stocks who usually holds shares of other people. How can shorting be possible for bitcoin ?
