Looks like we do have the same one... did you manage to get it working in the end?

No idea. Its not connecting connecting sneakily another pool in my system.
It seems your download is affected with some virus or trojan or any other malwares.
I did download from there, though: http://solidcoin.info/reaper.html. I don't have the file I downloaded on this very computer, I'll post md5sum of the file I grabbed tomorrow, if someone wants to compare with their own hash.
If anyone wants to compare with the files they downloaded, here are my md5 hashes

Also, I didn't check what it tries to communicate to the pool, maybe it's just pinging and sending nothing. But there's some kind of connection attempt.
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thread about GPU-mining and Litecoin on: March 01, 2012, 07:24:31 PM
u have to put it in litecoin.conf & just run reaperdemo.exe without any arguments.
Litecoin.conf for
host mine.pool-x.eu
port 9332
user urpoolname with worker like xxx.1
pass ur password for pool
That's what I did, it didn't work (timeout). Note that the pool wasn't down as my other worker could connect to it without problem.

And this doesn't explain why the miner sneakily connects to another pool, as I detailed in post 118.
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thread about GPU-mining and Litecoin on: March 01, 2012, 04:34:15 PM
I tried both: with http, without http, also with IP instead of host name, different ports (using pool-x so I could try port 80, 8080, etc), nothing worked Sad
Same here, tried 4 pools, nothing would connect.
Since "localhost" was the default option, I even tried solo-mining: failed to connect too.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thread about GPU-mining and Litecoin on: March 01, 2012, 03:32:12 PM
I saw in my own eyes, a 5870 mining litecoins, & i put screen shot.
For those who still saying no proof, better download & try urself.
http://solidcoin.info/reaper.html
Doesn't work for me: always times out when trying to reach the pool...
On a side note, anyone knows why the GPU miner tries to connect to load.squidnet.org (96.8.126.110) from port 51100 to port 12000?

hostname used should be without prefix http://

i have the bitcoin, i just dont know who i need to give it to.
I had a pending request, if you did receive all of them by e-mail I guess you should have it on file somewhere... Unless the e-mail system got broken too.

Indeed it's back online now, but that was some long downtime this time.

What's up with the "pool"? Seems to have been down for a couple of hours now.
193  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: hash rate on: February 15, 2012, 09:17:46 AM
Might well be your second to last: drop from 5.7 to 4.7$/BTC within the last few days. Might be also bad luck.
194  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [117% - 115% - 105%] I want your hashing power! "Project #2" 115% PPS! on: February 13, 2012, 10:55:37 AM
So are you saying that hopping is now dead / not profitable since everyone is doing it etc. ?
Of course if everyone does it it doesn't work anymore.... But that's the point after all. All to PPLNS Wink (or equivalent, I don't really know much about this "DGM" thing).
195  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [117% - 115% - 105%] I want your hashing power! "Project #2" 115% PPS! on: February 13, 2012, 07:20:19 AM
By down you mean, lower than 117-115% or even lower than 105%?
Anyway, I like that concept of organized pool hopping, it gives people who can't afford the time setting up hopping for themselves the opportunity to do it while hopefully teaching people who don't care a lesson about proportional mining being bad and PPLNS being a better solution...
196  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining with ATI Radeon 5870M on: February 11, 2012, 10:49:58 PM
Ya id be very careful mining with laptop, definitely keep it on cooling pad with full fan speed.
I'm mining on a laptop, GPU isn't hotter than the GPUs in my desktops.

Anyway, the 5870M is a tuned 5770, so probably you can get the same kind of figures and do the same kind of tweaks as with a desktop 5770.
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: run cpuminer in background? on: February 06, 2012, 08:34:14 PM
You know, I do run it hidden like this on my own PC. I've got my task bar on the side (with those 16/10 modern monitors, that's pretty much the best place to put it IMO), so whenever I've got too many buttons it becomes a total pain to browse. Anything I can gain is good, putting the miner out of view is awesome in that matter.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: run cpuminer in background? on: February 06, 2012, 10:02:31 AM
I have a few family members that are willing to let me run cpuminer on their computer as long as they don't have to look at it and i'm afraid if i let it run as is they might accidentally close it, is there any way to run it in the background?
It can be done with some very simple VBS... I don't remember where I found it, I'll search for it when I'm back to my home PC tomorrow.
Hurray I finally found it! Linky: http://bit.ly/xlbYcS
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The Litecoin PPS Pool - We pay for stale shares! on: February 06, 2012, 07:22:27 AM
Auto payment threshold isn't working.
It seems to be working fine to me. Remember that automatic payouts are processed twice daily, at 11 UTC and 23 UTC.
Looking good for me too.

10G or more - 115%
5G to 9.999G - 111%
4.999G or less - 105%
Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Edit: title should be updated to reflect those. It's easy to be catchy when only a few percent users can actually reach the 115%...
