The First Real-Anniversary of Crypto Kingdom and the Real-Party in Real-Malla

Many concepts, things and people in Crypto Kingdom have their type in real life (IRL). The type of the Royal Palace in 1-C is situated in Estonia, about 1 hour to the east of Tallinn and the airport. The earliest mentions of the Manor of Real-Malla are from the 1400s, and similarly the Royal Palace was constructed in 1432-1446.

To celebrate the real-anniversary, a real-party is held in the real-palace. Terms: players of the noble characters of Crypto Kingdom are eligible to attend. The commoners are required to apply, because the capacity of attendance is limited.

The main event will be held in the day of anniversary, 2015-10-10. There is no entrance fee, no room fee (for maximum of 2 nights, otherwise hotel rates apply) and also the Grand Dinner will be served with wines at the King's pleasure. Dress code is noble/festive, and Royal robes may be worn by those who have them. We trust in the gift economy to take care of the practicalities.

The Manor has been visited by many of the players in the past (incl. Duke of NL, Prince of Forte Spagnolo, Prince of Soul, The Bishop, Roopatra, Sir Heimo, Lord Thud, Knight serje, Wizard Dev PJ, Master nikke1 and others), so we look forward to a happy reunion with the oldtimers and the new ones. There will be Caviar and Foie Gras, tender meats, cognac, rum, vodka and the choicest of wines from the Wine Cellar (separate building to the right from the Manor House).

The 6-horse royal carriage is at your disposal for airport rides:

The past menus give some hints of what will be served:

The grounds are large and beautiful:

As are the rooms:

A happy and memorable weekend in the dark, festive season is awaiting us! Smiley

What type of item constitutes an amulet? Does it have to be blessed?

Amulet is a custom silver item made when converting IC to silver. Just tell what shape it is and mention that it is an amulet.

We don't know if blessing brings benefit, but unlikely it brings any harm  Smiley

Financial Innovation: CKG perpetual

Some of the "innovations" of the banking cartel would have been better to stay inside their dens and not come to plague humanity. Luckily we have more enlightened people here designing things and we seek for the public good and stability in everything.

What if there was an instrument to exchange present CKG for perpetual CKG cash flows in the same way as the consols provide the opportunity to exchange present XMR for the perpetual cash flows in XMR?

Theoretically, the pricing of such an instrument should be intrinsically leveraged to the price of gold, which might be interesting Wink

If we assume that consols pay 1.2% per year and that the same IRR is asked from gold, yet gold dividends are on average only 0.5%, therefore there is the implicit assumption that the average price appreciation makes it up. (We also assume that XMR is the calculation base currency - drastic changes in XMR/fiat may alter the calculus).

If the new instrument PCKG (for perpetual CKG) has the same risk and same IRR (internal calculation interest rate) as both of the above, the price of 1*PCKG (priced in CKG) paying 1 CKG per year should be - what? (CKG dividends are collected by the issuer of the PCKG)

(Answer will be revealed later)

ADD: Hell yeah, when calculating the answer it seems that this could capture both the gold price rise (because denominated in gold) and the interest rate decrease (because perpetual), multiplied! Shame that the King is the only realistic issuer, and it is unlikely if we think that selling these is a good idea. Buying could very well be Smiley

ADD2: The gold price rise itself is a product of gold estimated dividend stream * inverse of interest rate; therefore the PCKG gets (gold estimated dividend stream) * (inverse of interest rate ^2)

ADD3: How valuable is a stream that gives you 1/1000,000th of a world each week? Wink hint: it is fucking valuable - just look at the bankers who have enslaved us with their paper money based on exactly that principle. I am debating whether to enslave myself to prove the point, they have decided to enslave the others instead...

The Town is also getting a new more story-telling official. We are in talks with Marchioness Roopatra to assume a role in the Public Works department, who would oversee the construction of Town registries and other important public buildings, roadworks, pavings, gardenings, making statues of important persons to celebrate important events, mint medals (in the Royal Mint) and grant them etc. The game is getting more flavor by the day! Smiley

I look forward to serving the Kingdom in the Public Works Department. I welcome any ideas for public buildings, statues, road work (in the thread, by IRC or PM) and I will listen to the people´s wishes, and try to use the budget for Public Works wisely and in projects that benefit everyone.

I think that we should resurrect a statue of PJ and put it in 5-C once the first playable version is released. In the borough 5 sheet, U/16-17 might be an appropriate place. I will donate 100k stone to the effort to help Smiley

Also, I'd like to surrender the roads in 3-S to the kingdom so that they might get paved. I had the main 20m boulevard paved and gardened, so hopefully the town can pick up the sideroads?

Good, exactly this kind of bargaining is expected when public money is on the table Smiley

The tab /ADMINISTRATION is specifying the responsibilities, and the money will be deposited soon!

As for honoring PJ, I am all for the idea, but this kind of things are made of Bronze - carving hard, cracking stone (weighing 1,000 tons as you proposed) is not very practical. Ex. COO-4: "Only a bit larger than actual size (non-equestrian) bronze statue [of the King] put in the Centenary Pavilion without pedestal." is a K7 item costing 100 IC. A larger statue is K8 and the eyecatcher one is K9. Statue of Liberty type thing is K10.

I would have supported a higher tail emission. For some above-obvious reason, zero inflation does not guarantee value appreciation, where positive inflation sometimes seems to do it.

For instance CKG was mined from 0 to 1,000,000 units in Oct/2014-Mar/2015. Since then, the inflation has been zero.

The price increased from 50,000 to 500,000 in the first period, and since then, only from 500,000 to 615,000 (so hardly anything, only 23% in 6 months..).

I bet the price will start to increase again right when we start inflation again!  Grin

Have been away from Monero and lurking on Crypto Kingdom for some while.

One quick question - I note there is a market planned for CK that is called "Agora."  Is that in any way linked to the darknet market, Agora Marketplace, or just same source of name (Greek antiquity.)

I wonder if you should name it something different to avoid anyone associating CK with a darknet, especially one that is currently suspended.

Funny you are the first one to mention the darknet place (even though I had also heard of it but it did not ring a bell with me or anyone).

I'd say that place was hardly more known than CK is already, therefore there is no negative association.

Agora naturally comes from the Greek word meaning the same - just like alco/alko refer to the health drink in many languages, so there is no ground for one to claim it against the other, or trademark a word in common global usage.

It seems that marketplaces cannot be taken down, because they resurrect even subconsciously...  Wink

ADD: As a general principle, CK and all activity happening inside the game, claim absolute intellectual sovereignty and does not recognize any outside influences or claims regarding the usage of names, words of any language, concepts etc. Not only should free speech be recognized a human right everywhere, but since it is not, we need to make this statement to disclaim everything regarding the game, because the game is an expression of thought and thought is free.

Nice, just wait I record this low point in gold price to the /gold_history for the future generations...

Go buy it directly from noms, and save money on fees. This Marquess is the first player since Tavastia to dare to try a no-gold investment approach! (We all remember how well Tavastia fared when gold shot from 0.1 to 0.5 in a realmonth... Wink )

108k now already! Also, I agree with your assertion :-)

I am a bit jealous, CK custodial account balance (104k XMR) was just surpassed by a thing one day old...

CR1605A gold coins

We still do not want to release Ultima, but also do not dare to open the 1,000,000 gold limit. So to issue the CR1605A, in normal case minted from virgin gold and given per playtime, we do as follows:

CR1605A will be ordered from the Royal Mint by the Town. The Town pays as much gold as is needed. Everyone who replies to this thread in 24 hours from this post will get the coin for free. Sockpuppets/wealth management clients do not get anything, only real accounts count, 1/snout. Note: any post is valid, no need to quote this post specifically.

The Mint (who do have monthly expenses) get 5 coins (total 5 CKG) as a minting fee, and 1 of them will be gifted to the CryptoMuseum.

As for CR1605E, we do as previously announced.

*.*.*

A snippet from the history when it was possible to get 200 CKG per every post in the thread:

As for the posting-in-this-thread bonus:
- If you buy in the game (1,000 gold minimum) during the next 7 days, you get 20 XMR worth of bonus gold per every your post in this thread before the Game Is On post.

May this coin also become as good and this post quoted after another year Wink

The consol bids are updated in the previous post on the topic.

Saint Francis of Assisi Parish Church

We are pleased to see that the Church is doing its duties. Beer sales must be booming. Once the W1601B is done (have reached its peak, and at least 2/3 of the original amount consumed), we are thinking of giving the Church a licence to brew more barley wine.

The Town is also getting a new more story-telling official.    ...Crypto Kingdom currently has perpetuals for sale...

OK, I’ll bite, since nobody else has asked: How can one buy these ‘perpetual mining bonds’? Must one be a player in the game? Does one arrange Entity-to-Entity trades in a chat-box? Because while I find the idea of the game intriguing, bluntly speaking I have zero interest in playing it.

Our world still exists in the google DB, but we have a browsable but not-yet-playable virtual world in cryptokingdom.me.

Becoming a player is possible by going to the thread or IRC channel and asking the admins for registering (later directly in cryptokingdom.me).

Some are here to play, others like the management / financial / speculation aspect more.

We have a full exchange software (similar to poloniex) in testing, which can be used for the 24/7 trading in all 2,000+ game items and lots.

Chatbox trades can also happen.

Royal Gifts

It has been our custom since 1450 (well, that one time) to gift a Royal Purple suit to the most distinguished members of the society. Then, the suit was gifted to:
Marquess (now: Duke) NewLiberty
Earl d'Armagnac (now: HG The Bishop, M. d'Armagnac) David Latapie
Earl (now: Prince) of Forte Spagnolo

Now, to celebrate the opening of the North Face Tailors (and our renewed capability to procure the best workmanship in royal purple color!) we will gift:
WOS-134 to His Highness of North Face
WOS-132 to HSH Karl Hungus, The Prince of OZ
WOS-133 to HE Dr. Choo, The Prince Paul of Soul

All the suits are meticulously made, with gold thread and silver jewelry and ornamentation. They are gifted whole, with all the gold and silver in them included. The right to wear them (sounds funny but important to note, as it does not automatically follow if the suit changes owner even by inheritance) is granted as well. The right to wear royal purple is limited to occasions where His Majesty The King or his High Ambassador, High Envoy, or Charge d'Affaires is present wearing royal purple (practically in the occasions where the recipient is the High something, ordained by the King.

All the gifts are accompanied with a bottle of Silver Water 1, the choicest, rarest, most expensive and potentially the most healthy drink in existence.

To not forget the original recipients from 155 years back, they are gifted a bottle of CLXII each.

The Marquess of Rome, the Earl of Grass, Sir Riddick, Dr. SS, and zrue are also gifted a bottle of CLXII.

In addition, The Marquess has offered to pitch in the 30m to pave the road from borough 9 -> 3 so that it is easy for all to get there. The plans to build are already forming in our minds...

The town clerks were quick to charge the 30 mil which is already in the SSP...

As for the road, it is 300 m long and the north end is a (shamefully unpaved) 20 m wide boulevard (neglected by the M. of WC himself).

The road between 1-3 is 20 m wide so that the cross section is 2-3-10-3-2 (bold is paved, normal text gardened).
The road between 1-5 is 30 m wide as follows: 5-20-5.
In between 5-7, the road is 40 m wide (except that nobody uses it since King has sealed B.7 with a 4 m high wall with no gates - he also did pay for the road himself btw. as well as the San Pietro road.. It takes time for the trees to grow so it's good to act quickly when planting, and building can happen later...): 10-20-10.

The other connector roads are 8-10 m wide paved only.

The minimum width for something to be called a street is 8 m (although historically almost always 10 m); a paved way 4-7 m wide is a lane. 1-3 m is an alley. A boulevard requires trees on both sides of the carriageway as in the 1-3 road (aptly named just "Boulevard" as it was the first of its kind in 1510-1560 when it was constructed piecemeal), and the carriageway should not be less than 8 m wide. Pedestrian walkways on the other side of the trees are optional but belong to the good practice and also allow the trees to grow bigger without obstructing the buildings. Esplanade refers to an impressive road with at least 20 m park in between the carriageways. Since these are one-way, 5 m is the required minimum paved width, but more is often had for show.

The cost to build a 1-m slice of paved road 300 m long is 30,000 stone + 0.72 mil in labor.
For a 1-m slice of park, 1.5 mil in labor only.
For a 1-m high, 1-m wide pedestal (added effect and may keep in better condition), 0.9 mil extra. A higher pedestal than 1 m is possible but may pose issues later when the buildings are constructed - or perhaps the half-basement comes in fashion... High pedestals cannot end abruptly, they require a stone wall for a right angle, or can be maximum 45° inclined on their own weight.

The stone for paving a connector road can be taken from either of the boroughs at no transport cost.

Hope this helps, your magnificence, in your planning. It goes without saying that once you pay all the costs, the road may be named after your wish as well! Smiley

PS. In town, the sums involved in road construction may sound trivial. But between towns, it is a real effort to build even a 3-m wide (narrowest possible for a cart/carriage) paved road: 30 km of such road costs 9 million stone + the associated labor.

Boroughs B.8 and B.9 opened - surprise move

It is easier to do things in batches, and since we have good time now with Ultima still in testing/development due to the exchange featurecreep (it is totally in control though, as lengthily explained in the previous post Wink ), and everyone who cares has made the calculations for buying land, why not auction them away now!

The price for B.8 chapelries started at 1,500 mil and goes to 1,000 (in 50 hours) and stays there.
The price for B.9 chapelries started at 800 mil and goes to 10 (in 79 hours), after which the unsold chapelries are taken off the market for rethink.

The land in B.9 is as good as anywhere, as is the location. The land carries a slight 700 m/sqm/year extra tax, which makes it interesting to value. (The proceeds of this tax are used in the consol payments, as both are perpetual opposite cashflows in the same currency). There is no risk to the buyer - it is always possible to walk away from any land (give it to the Town) to cancel the payment of tax. The amount of extra tax may not be raised (obviously).

As B.9 comes to the market, it likely offers a whole new price range for luscious private houses, since the cost of construction is going down, and land downpayment will be only a fraction of what it is costing in other boroughs (in small lots typically 25-150 mil/q, now: ?)

RWWC's stock of WIRS windows is down to 941 and they are sold at 0.280 mil each! (Roopatra is liquidating her stock of 67*WIRS at 0.260 so please reset the RWWC order when you buy the Roop ones).
RWWC has decided that from next year, window price will be slashed to 0.250 mil. (The long term goal used to be 0.140 but the management is so drunk with monopoly profits that a more likely scenario is that price will be inched down very slowly, with a new excuse every year such as "XMR/USD price is down.." etc and 0.140 being reached asymptotically at best).

EDIT: There is an unwritten agreement that raw land may not be levied any tax if it is not stipulated upon initial sale. Only B.9 has extra tax of 700 m/land-sqm/year, and 1-SE has 7,000 m/land-sqm/year. It was tried to be levied in 3-SW as a figure between the above, but the chapelry did not reach bid in the 1540-50s and was converted to a normal chapelry, later sold to the Marquess of Soul and then to NewCorp. It is still unquarried. There was an economic crisis peaking in 1550, but now we are booming and lightly taxed land is selling hot!

Everything except haws are subject to Land tax (building tax), which the borough administration (currently none, since all boroughs are directly administered by the Town via sheriffs) may set at will. It is currently only 1,000 m/build-sqm/year in all boroughs, corresponding to about 3% of the building yield.

There are no other costs from land and/or buildings. We were about to start the Army guarding cost and also had the gardener/cleaninglady cost in the 1450-1599, but both have been scrapped now for simplicity so enjoy almost tax-free land and buildings! Smiley

Designer's Notes as we approach 1 year

I am a professor in economics, so the economic side of this game is very well developed, indeed better than in any other game, and in many facets better than the one perpetrated by the unholy alliance of banksters and politicians.

This does not, however, mean, that the game should or would be solely about economics and speculation. Since we have now invested quite a lot of developer time to the Agora Exchange, it is good to have something interesting to be traded there! A full-feature exchange cannot blossom fully if it is only used for the trading of unique items and lots. As Einstein has said (and as is written in gold in the south-east facade of the Hypothecary Bank in CryptoTown building in 1-E from 1512) "Compound Interest is the most Powerful Force in the Universe". The playing with interest rates is the core of many types of speculation and makes an interesting subgame.

The consols are a new type of stock-bond, and they are expected to replace the previous idea of having 50-year Town bonds in every 5 years. (We have to remind that anyone can issue bonds though, caveat emptor.) The market cap of each issue of these bonds would be too small for it to fly as a liquid speculation vehicle. Since consols are all of the same type, the market cap is also consolidated for the benefit of all.

Even less glorious but perhaps useful is the Bank's new Demand Deposit, DEP. They always cost 1 mil and you can sell them back at 0.99 mil (technical reason, and also to prevent end-of-year poaching). The interest rate is set by the Bank by commercial considerations and may be changed but the intention is to keep it very stable at somewhat lower than the consol rate. For depositors, this offers an easy way to gain guaranteed return for any funds that are not needed for a period of more than 1 realweek, for the Bank this offers a source of cheaper funds than otherwise would be obtainable, to be lent to the borrowers at a profit. (Note: In all its 93 years, the Bank has not had a terminal delinquency!)

Other items that will be active in speculative trading are the NPC. Each NPC item (40+ of them) has a certain set of annual dividends in the form of CUL, SCI and m (where the m might be negative for some types). The probability of death is constant at 5% per year for all of them and missing death this time does not cause a heightened chance of death later. The NPC have a promotion schedule, which is kept secret to add some flavor to the speculation Wink Depending on the final dividends (that are still in the balancing stage), and the interest rate applicable, some gold and silver NPC's might settle at 3-figure prices!

Other items that will be in active trade hopefully, include:
- Drinks, since more will come, earlier ones will first appreciate and then go on sale
- Fungible gold, silver and copper rounds, for collectors to gain their sets
- Horses, since the only way to upgrade yours is to sell to Fluffy Pony and buy better ones back (you don't have time to train horses, they do)
- IC and SCI points
- Building materials (stone, windows, soon: doors)
- All that the factories, businesses and monopolies produce (suits, carriages, soon: much more)
- Stocks in the Companies, of course! Smiley

We have the strong feeling that despite the game seeming to morph into one big market, it is a necessary step in this stage of the development, and that the Ultima platform / Agora Market will be very powerful, and overall we are doing great!

The next (real)year will be the time to add playable content that as much exceeds anyone's imagination as the financial/speculative content in the first year has exceeded!

1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 15, 2015, 09:35:16 AM
Just purchased 2300 additional Moneros.
Yesterday I bought total over 17 000 XMR.
I am grateful for all the sellers and interested in buying more so please set some sell walls prefertably near the spot.

As a student of Economics, it might interest you that Crypto Kingdom currently has perpetuals for sale, which pay 0.1 XMR per week fixed interest forever as long as CK exists. Current price (in the auction) is only at 7.0 XMR so these "mining bonds" (as SirJacket put it) offer a very nice return and possibility for value appreciation (as the rates go down, perps go up in value) if CK succeeds.

Since these will finally be the debt instruments with liquid markets in CK (none have managed to gain enough marketcap before, because nobody has been in need of debt), it will be possible to follow the development of the internal interest rate in much better precision than before. We started recording the gold price when the (soon 1-year old) game was 7 days old and the history is very much intriguing. Indeed, this is history in the making Smiley

1,000*CON will be issued at 7.0 (1.43% APR, higher than in the long-bond just ended at 1.10%!)

For a practical hint, this is a very liquid auction so unless you are buying in the hundreds (m billions), your bid does not have a noticeable effect on price. Therefore you do well to decide what is the maximum you want to pay (minimum yield to accept) and then bid that amount directly, and just wait until the end of the auction Smiley

(The price just rose from 6.0 to 7.0, replacing 2,300 mil worth of bids.)
