1841  Economy / Economics / Re: Federal Reserve launches FedNow instant payment service on: July 26, 2023, 06:55:34 AM
I believe their digital payment system won't be able to rival Bitcoin in any case. The swiftness of their digital payment system is confined to the US alone, while Bitcoin transcends borders, making it a global option for transferring money. The universality of Bitcoin is a compelling reason for people to prefer it. Even if the US digital payment system were granted global access, it would still be a centralized fiat currency, unlike Bitcoin, which remains decentralized. Consequently, no other digital currency can match Bitcoin's unique attributes.

I agree. It's a good change that will surely help a lot of people in a way (at least in the US), but it can't be compared to Bitcoin. Majority of individuals will still prefer decentralized currency which is very beneficial for international transaction. That is such a unique thing about Bitcoin that many cannot trade for other currency system.
1842  Economy / Economics / Re: Japan reaffirm Web3 plans on: July 26, 2023, 06:25:55 AM
If their intent is to compete with China in the economic factor then it is a good move from Japan. Technology and the web are two sectors that heavily influences the rise of a nation and just how innovative it can get. If Japan is able to execute this properly, much like what they did with accepting Bitcoin as proper payment, then perhaps other countries that are watching Japan closely will do the same.
1843  Economy / Economics / Re: The gloomy light called subsidy. on: July 26, 2023, 06:05:48 AM
What do you think? Is government removal of subsidy from essentials products, services at this period of economic hardship people are facing the best policy a  government can embark on in the process of building her dwindling economy?

I am more of a libertarian ideology, that is, I believe that it is better for societies to keep subsidies to a minimum, because the problem is that they discourage effort. There are extreme cases in which I agree that they should be given, what happens is that politicians immediately take a liking to distribute subsidies, which in many cases is a covert way of buying votes and abusing them you get to extreme cases of societies like Argentina that are a disaster because they have a very high level of subsidies but the population suffers hardships.

That is a very good point. Too much help can make individuals negatively confident that they do not have to apply any effort and just depend on the subsidy they are getting to pay for their needs in life. Another good point on how politicians uses subsidy to gain control of the public. In my country, a lot of issues like that are always around during government election.
1844  Economy / Economics / Re: Helpful mineral resources on: July 26, 2023, 05:33:25 AM
It is the same with what happened in my country, we have gold, uranium, natural gas, and many other minerals on our soil, but it has been ignored and missmanaged for a long time. But I think it's getting better the, the government started to know how make a good use of it, the problem now is that it only benefit the oligarch, not the whole people.

This is the unfortunate reality. A lot of country are rich with mineral resources, but are not being managed correctly but their governments. The opportunities and help these minerals have are left dormant as majority of the people only sees these minerals as another source of income, nothing more and nothing less. However, it is good to know that there is at least some good progress regarding this.
1845  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: July 25, 2023, 11:59:06 PM

Another race week with lots of rain. We'll definitely see a lot of slips and crashes from a lot of drivers. Hopefully not a boring week for the fans seeing Verstappen just taking off against those who are behind him. The previous fights to the podium has been hella interesting, with Hamilton trying to get that 2nd spot but always being edged out by Perez in the last few laps.
1846  Economy / Gambling / Re: betzus.com - Crypto+Fiat Online Casino, Sportsbook, Slots, Games on: July 25, 2023, 11:47:35 PM
I just visited your site and created an account there. Upon checking, your odds seem to be better in some of the mainstream sports betting platforms for crypto out there. Where are you getting your lines from? And also, there is a slight problem when I tried to do a parlay wherein I needed to refresh the page in order to delete one option from the whole thing. I didn't finalize the bet though, but would love to try it once.
1847  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a gambler do you have a potential winning amount limit? on: July 25, 2023, 11:30:58 PM
I am satisfied with a 1.5x return. Anything more than that is just a bonus, and I don't usually chase for something bigger than what I'm usually happy at. It saves me the anxiety, stress, and headaches in winning that much. Also, the more you chase bigger returns, the larger the risks are and the easier it is for you to lose a lot of your money. Better be safe and contented with little gains rather than risk it all in higher ones.
1848  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: July 25, 2023, 10:57:22 PM
And I also think that Fulton might stay and last for 12 rounds. But as you guys says, Inoue is very quick and his jab is sharper than ever. Congrats to those who had Fulton by KO here, and it's the obvious choice. But I just thought that Fulton being the slick and technical fighter he is, could last the against the Monster.

Well, not after the start officially started. As we all can see, Fulton was very careful as he knew how dangerous hid opponent is, but clearly he got dominated. Every round Inoue is winning, not even a single round I can give to Fulton, it's like he was not fighting to win there, but he was fighting to survive the 12 round and survive the onslaught that the Inoue unleashes.
To be in this  higher division and completely dominate the toughest is such an impressive act. Still, I give respect to Fulton for not ducking a future HOF in boxing. He really wants this fight and now he just proved himself how strong and skilled Inoue is.
Overall in this match, Inoue is much faster, powerful, and more intelligent than Fulton.

Fulton provided good defense on the first few rounds but lost it completely. Him being too careful made Inoue more confident in some of the rounds that showcased his punching power and ability to close the gap between him and Fulton when the latter is trying to get off and reset engagements. This fight also proved that Inoue can still exert more speed if needed, and that he really is something that can be discounted even in higher weight classes.
1849  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Other Things You Can Bet on Aside Sports and Casino Games on: July 25, 2023, 10:31:36 PM
Some of these are just waste of time IMO. I don't think people are really going out of their way to bet on these events in hopes of making money. Some people do, but only for the heck of it and not in the purpose of making money. I would rather bet it on something that has the possibility to make me money rather than bet on something because I'm curious and I just want to get involved in the fuzz that everyone is getting on about.
1850  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Mga Hamon sa Pagtanggap/Adoptation ng Bitcoin on: July 25, 2023, 05:04:37 PM
Before, when i was a newbie and not knowledgeable about crypto, iniisip ko rin n scam ang bitcoin. But as time goes on and learn more abou cryptos and bitcoin, well masasabi ko talagang you can earn in trading.

1851  Economy / Economics / Re: The gloomy light called subsidy. on: July 25, 2023, 03:44:30 PM
Of course subsidy is good as it helps a lot of people in need, specially with the state of the market these days. However, governments should know when to cut off and just how much budget they should assign towards it. It is understandable that a lot of people are dependent on such subsidy, but it should be noted that other areas needs more attention and budget much like education and health.
1852  Economy / Economics / Re: "Prepare for defation in 2023" on: July 25, 2023, 01:14:26 PM
Many think that in 2023 there will be deflation, if this is true, of course it is a better thing than inflation which is very difficult, in my country deflation is very rare, since I was in high school and knew economics lessons and saw the economic history in my country then only deflation occurred several times in agricultural products, apart from agricultural products, this has never happened.

I agree, of course it's a good thing. However, usually when prices goes down it wouldn't be as drastic like how it went up. Essentially, it wouldn't be as dramatic of a change as inflation goes where we can actually feel it the moment it hits. But this, of course, does not necessarily mean thag it's a bad thing.
1853  Economy / Economics / Re: Has everyone become too pesimistic about the economy? on: July 25, 2023, 09:43:36 AM
Instead of being pessimistic about it, we could just accept the way it is and try to move further instead. Yes economy sucks, but we always had rich people in every time of the world, even during second world war we had rich people in the world. It means that if we do what we should be doing then we could potentially end up with a richer life, yes the world will get worse and worse, but individually I would get better and that's what I aim at doing right now.

If I could make enough money then I would be fine. For that, in my nation, making about 2-3 thousand dollars would mean you are comfortable, making 5 means you are stepping into being rich. Yes 5 thousand per month is not little, but that's not "rich" in most west nations, in my nation it's literally wealthy.

It's hard not to find ourselves not to be pessimistic at times, specially if it involves our hard earned money which we are hoping to use to earn more. However, I do agree with your point that we shouldn't stay in that sad bubble for too long and instead move forward. There are instances that we wouldn't be able to do anything but adapt and move on from that cause if we only continue to be sad about it then there will be no progress from us.
1854  Economy / Economics / Re: Fast Transportation Makes Economic Turnover Faster on: July 25, 2023, 08:51:48 AM
Transportation is key in an economy because without it there would not be an effective distribution of goods and services. And being fast simply means higher efficiency in that goods are delivered and services are served pretty faster.

These are key to the health of an economy, and in most cases, it could beat down the price as there will be more competition even as the supplies grow. This will no doubt helps the economy to be healthy, it's all positive.

I agree, I mean just look at how far fast food restaurants made it as they serve food faster compared to traditional restaurants. People enjoy quick services, that is something that has been long proven. Hence, despite the probable cost it will take countries to adapt to the changes that fast transportation will make, they will surely still welcome it for a faster economic turnover that will be beneficial to them.
1855  Economy / Economics / Re: Methods to cut food costs on: July 25, 2023, 08:04:18 AM
Ultimately if we're talking a real cut back in available cash for food, you will be making everything yourself   and/or eating super basic stuff.  Learn to cook is one of the biggest money saving methods there is, of course it takes time, skill and energy plus some tools.  Even after all that its still gigantically cheaper to cook for yourself and as a bonus almost everything tastes better freshly made.
Any prepared food from a supermarket has been packaged and reinforced in its ingredients to survive a journey down a conveyor belt & over a week sitting on a shelf even if its refrigerated it cannot be as nice as a well cooked meal.   I say all that and Im not a good cook but if poor theres not that much choice imo; some find they do cook well and make it their job, making a cut back into an opportunity Smiley

I agree, you do make a great suggestion here. Aside from the tools and basic supplies needed for cooking, the basic ingredients can be personally supplied. Essentially, to be able to cut food costs you need to be resourceful, clever and hard working. You need to make effort to think and plan your meals and ensure you are not going over the planned cost for that meal.
1856  Economy / Economics / Re: Federal Reserve launches FedNow instant payment service on: July 25, 2023, 07:03:21 AM
Because other services like that is already existing in other countries, like UPI. Money transaction internationally will not be easy using this new service as other countries' banking system needs to be updated to these changes. Hence, people who are already using bitcoin will stick to it for convenience.
1857  Economy / Economics / Re: Bad impact when You carry out Online or Offline Loans on an ongoing basis on: July 25, 2023, 06:31:28 AM
Under these conditions it is natural that many people borrow. But if borrowing continuously is not good. Many debts will only be hit by worries because they have to pay. So in my opinion what must be applied is to be good at managing money. When borrowing, you have to think about the risks first, and when you have your own money, you have to pay it off little by little so as not to accumulate debt, and then don't borrow money again to pay off debts.

Your last point is exactly why a lot of people that are borrowing money finds themselves neck deep in loans. They thought, maybe out of options and pressure to get rid of their loans, that borrowing money from a different lender to pay off their already existing debt will be a good decision. Instead, they only find themselves in a cycle of what seems like a non-stop payment.
1858  Economy / Economics / Re: How do banks generate income? on: July 25, 2023, 02:57:23 AM
Banks to me are a high corrupted system at least in my country. Where Government gives them the authority to manipulate, steal, and use people's money without any investigation. When a bank goes bankrupt, it takes away all the money from the people who have accounts with them and without any refunds or repercussions for the bank.
I will give you a simple and known example for instance in my country, there was a politician who owned a bank. Many people invested their money in that bank trusting it with their savings for some annual returns. But one day that politician decided to steal all the money and escape to the United States, without facing any arrest or consequences. What's even more weird is that he was able to return months later as if nothing happened.

For this i don’t believe that banks generate money. Banks don't actually generate money instead they gain ownership over your money once you deposit it with them and use it as it’s their own money.

Another ironic thing about banks is how they are very strict when it comes to paying your credits on time and with the exact amount, but when they are the ones having problem (like system failure, loss of savings money due to their system being hacked and bankruptcy) you will have to wait for so long and most of the time they will not be accountable for your money.
1859  Economy / Economics / Re: Benefit from Higher Education? on: July 25, 2023, 02:06:13 AM
In my point of view in order to get into entrepreneurship having high education is not necessary, I am not saying education is not important in business. college degree is not required to start a business but it certainly helps in business. Theoretical education will help to give you basic knowledge about entrepreneurship. From education institutions we get theoretical knowledge about business and we get concreate experience from real life. In theory, many assumptions are made to explain the phenomenon and concepts but in real life assumption does not work.

It is true that we do not need a college degree in starting a business. However, it does serve as a good business foundation as having such background will allow you to not be clueless once you decide to start. Moreover, a background in education builds image that mainly attracts the trust and confidence of your future clients to you.
1860  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Abuse ... on: July 24, 2023, 11:24:11 PM
Anything that goes well above the threshold of normal can mean abuse, so gambling isn't really something that's far off from that. There are a lot of people that are 'abusing' their freedom with gambling and ended up racking debts that are obviously not attractive. Moderation and control in everything that we do is the key to not resulting into any "abuse" that will be harmful to us along the way. What simple fun to us could mean a lot of danger in the future if we keep things unchecked.
