1221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 04, 2023, 10:13:59 AM
I can understand your situation. Most of the users who invest in Bitcoins doesn’t have enough money to invest. The ideal solution for this is to develop a skill and find a job according to it. Now when you get a fixed amount of salary, you just invest some part of it in cryptos. Regarding the price, then it will only go up when the demand of the coin increases. So don’t lose hope and invest accordingly.
This is just it. Don't lose hope, find a job and side hussles for income and use a good percentage of that income to invest. Staying in one's comfort zone, complaining and just being sad about it will do nothing good and will not get anyone anywhere. Instead, we have to make do of our situation and find a way to solve it. I always believe that we can never be stuck in a situation unless it is our own choice to be stuck there. Essentially, it may be true that sometimes we cannot control where we find ourselves in, but we can surely control where we go from there. In OP's case, the move is to actually move, do something. If OP really wants to invest then find a way to earn capital for that investment by developing skills and working.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I choose Bitcoin (and you'll must choose it too) on: September 04, 2023, 08:54:43 AM
Though I do agree with you. I think posting this here, a literal forum for people who are already using Bitcoin (some who are interested and about to use it), is a little pointless unless you intend your post to be shared outside the forum in some way to attract and push other people to join. Moreover, if you are going to have such subject and statement in your post and will only leave a link to explain it, I don't think it is very effective. Instead, I suggest you provide more personal reasons backed by articles and credible sources to prove your point. Having just a link wouldn't attract much attention and honestly not convincing, especially with your subject and possible target audience. Try to expand more if you want a fruitful discussion.

Nevertheless, good choice with Bitcoin, but all of us (at least more than 3/4 of members here) already did as well.
1223  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: September 04, 2023, 08:29:24 AM
Elon Musk is an overrated dude and he has literally proven that again and again. He is very intelligent for sure, but he is not some sort of celestial entity who turns whatever he touches to gold or something.

Twitter is one of those examples where he messed up big-time by trying to do something different which didn't sit well with the mainstream audience. His arrogance clearly screwed him over in this case.

Also, what the heck is X? He comes up with idiotic names for things/people. Twitter is way better in comparison.

Alright, this is more like a hate post for Elon Musk now. Yes, he made some questionable decisions but I really don't think everything he did after buying Twitter was bad. According to Elon Musk he chose the name X cause it is a symbol that pertains to imperfection that makes everyone unique and as the social media platform is use to present and express one's self then it's like stating that you can express your unique self there. Nevertheless, what Elon names Twitter or X doesn't matter as he owns it and it is not new that businessmen who buys already existing products and companys rebrands it to create a new image for them. If you actually use Twitter/X now and you are one of the million simple users of the platform who just likes to tweet and stay updated regarding news and whatnot, you will not feel the changes Elon applied (aside from the UI being darker and the name).

See, what people don't see is X is still in the midst of changes and a lot of updates have yet to be settled. Elon Musk bought Twitter for a reason and to do something with it, we all just need to see and wait.
1224  Economy / Economics / Re: Which problem will you choose to solve? on: September 04, 2023, 07:39:12 AM
I came across this tweet, so the reference is the username. I thought it was a topic worth bringing up for discussion to see the choice that will be made by forum members. This topic is about solving problems as a service you render to make a living. Which of the problems will you prefer to solve as a service you render? the problems of the poor? or the problems of the rich? (support your choice with a reason)

I wasn't aware that the rich have so many problems at the moment that's why I would rather be focusing on the poor people. Poorer people are always struggling and there will be new chances every year to provide helpful service. The only issue is that there isn't a lot of money to be made from the customers. The path to success here is to provide services to a large group of people to become profitable. When focusing on the rich people it's the exact opposite, there will only be a small number of clients. Another issue is how are you going to reach your customers. Social media is great to reach poorer people and attract them to your services, but not the rich and wealthy people. I think that to build up a customer base of high net worth individuals you need to have a big network. Best to focus on the area where you already have connections today and don't have to start from scratch.

Both are good, but just to add on rich, it is only small people that kind of purchase or avail your product, but it is one time, big time. Just imagine those luxurious cars, watches, and many more that only rich people can afford, but still they are earning a big profit as long as it has a name on it. On the poor side, it takes time to accumulate that money, but still they will purchase from you. What's good about serving poor people is that you can help them, and that makes you fulfilled as you are doing business while helping them.
To be honest with you, serving poor people will make you richer than serving rich people as long as you are making money from the service you are providing or offering, like I said in my previous comment, poor people are always eager and ready to spend more money to have their problems solved than rich people.

Using the same car you mentioned as an example, a car dealer who specialises in selling only expensive cars that only Rich men can afford, might end up selling just two or three cars in a whole month because there are also other car dealers out there,  he's not the only one doing the business, but the car dealer who specialises in selling both cheap and expensive cars,  might end up selling 20 cheap cars in a month and two or three expensive cars in the same month , at the end of the day, if we calculate the profit of this two car dealers, we will discover that the car dealer who specialises in selling both expensive and cheap cars made more profit than the one that only sells expensive cars..

Like I mentioned before, as a business or as a person, nothing stops one from serving both the rich and the poor, I think it all depends on where you live, if you live in an area where only rich men stay, then you can serve only Rich men, but if you live in an area where both rich men and poor men are staying, nothing stops you from serving both.
This is true, why cater to only the rich when you can cater to both parties and earn more? In businesses, especially if your goal is to get as much profit as you can, then it is simply better to just sell as much as you can to either rich or poor clients/customers. This is absolutely good advice for businesses that are just starting as you want to attract more customers/clients, and being picky with whom you will sell your product/service will not help your case. You want to be known out there, especially since you will have competitors that are trying to attract the same target clients/customers you have, therefore widen your scope and you will also expand the possibility of profit.
1225  Economy / Economics / Re: I wonder if food prices in your country have also increased? on: September 04, 2023, 06:55:10 AM
As someone who is involved in the world of agriculture because several of my family are farmers, I admit that every year farmers complain more and more about crop yields and selling prices that are no longer balanced. I mean the selling price of grain every year does not increase significantly, while the price of basic commodities every year increases little by little due to inflation. Or as my brother @uruhara said, reduced quantity and volume like the "Mie Sukses" you told us about.
During the harvest season, prices tend to fall. I think this needs government intervention to control prices. Or at least provide subsidies for fertilizers and pesticides so that farmers can still survive by selling their agricultural products at prices that seem stuck there every year.

Yeah I know what is going on with agribusiness, usually, big companies buy the crop at the futures contract means that no matter how expensive the fertilizers and pesticides or what happens in the nature they set the price early so farmers will earn less.

Government and big companies should discuss about this and figure it out the solution

There are some also that kind of don't make the prices go up, like they will say to the farmers that this is really the price in the market, and again, the farmer has no choice because their crop can't be sold if they won't accept the price. Just imagine in the news and on social media a lot of farmers that will not accept the price of the buyer, so they tend to throw it out just to inform everyone that the price is too low. It is almost the same as not selling it as they can't get enough money. Famers are really in a difficult situation, so the government should control this.

This is true and is a problem in the country where I live, a lot of farmers are facing such a problem. For example, there are farmers who need to sell their crops to businessmen who will distribute or sell their crops to the city, and these businessmen will tell them such a low price that farmers will have no choice but to sell it at such ridiculous price or let their crops deteriorate or spoil, basically losing a lot of money. And with how much their tools and chemicals cost, they are losing more money than they are earning every day. So, I do agree with you that the government should take a look at this and do something about it. It is heartbreaking that farmers who are working to provide food for a whole nation are struggling to earn money they need to feed their own family.
1226  Economy / Economics / Re: How to developed your capital on: September 04, 2023, 06:10:21 AM
Quote
How to developed your capital

Capital development is no different than asking someone how to get rich and in my opinion this is meaningless when asked here. Because everyone here is also looking for their own wealth, we are all looking for answers. There are countless ways to improve our finances and we need to experience it for ourselves to find the solution that works best for us. Just reading and following advice on the internet or from people who have not been successful will only waste our time. Each person will have a different path to success, so we need to step out of our comfort zone to find what is the best path, IMO.
I wouldn't go as far as saying that it is meaningless. There is no guarantee that everyone here doesn't have their own wealth, there are surely members here who are richer than others, and they have the capability to share their experiences and advice with those who are currently going through what they already did. It is best to consider that some of us have been in the system for a long and some are just new here, hence experiences are different and therefore can be shared as others try to see others' perspectives to at least have an outside opinion of what to do and not to do. Essentially, while it is true that we have our own path to success there is nothing wrong with asking for other's opinions and insights from their own experiences as it sometimes allows us to consider possible outcomes of our actions and decisions.
1227  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you risking investment in other things? on: September 04, 2023, 05:28:34 AM
There is a halving coming next year to which many people who know and have bitcoins have set a target of the amount they hope to have in their holding by the time the bull run begins. I like to know if with this knowledge of bitcoin halving coming, if anyone is investing in anything other than bitcoins. I do not mean alt-coin but things like Real Estate, stocks, bonds etc. I know that Real Estate is good to invest in, but asides real estate, what else are you risking the money you should to invest more in bitcoins on?
No matter where one invests, where financial matters are involved, there are risks. Investing in real estate is somewhat less risky than digital currencies. Bitcoin altcoins can make profits very quickly as well as losses very quickly.  So investing in cryptocurrency is much riskier ans also more profitable. So if he wants to make profit, he must take big risk.  So it is a personal matter of everyone how much risk they are willing to take and what they will invest on
It is true that the bigger we want our profit to be then the bigger the risk we'll have to take and expect. Investing is unpredictable in a way that we can never be 100% sure if we will gain or lose what we have invested. In relation to that, another factor that future or contemplating investors should consider is how much money they are willing to risk, I am essentially referring to the capital they are willing to assign or place for their investments. Despite the different amounts of income we have, as well as our needs, there should be a set percentage of our after-tax income that is for investment. Ideally, according to Mark Henry, founder and CEO at Alloy Wealth Management in his interview with Ivana Pino of Fortune Recommends in 2022, it is advisable to invest 15-25% of our after-tax income, assuming all house utilities and immediate financial needs are settled with the remaining 75-85% of your income. Personally, though I try to keep the 15% after-tax income I have to be solely for investment, I sometimes can only do 10% and for me, that is fine for as long as I still have money to invest and is within my plans.

1228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is horse racing so unpopular here and a bit of extra feedback on: September 03, 2023, 08:57:08 PM
- Would let's say 1-2 mbtc (per event, about one or two per month) be enough for people here to at least open a few links and take a look at what hoses are running and what their timeform is?
Another yes. Clicking a few links and reading a few lines of text about the game will be enough of an incentive for those who are looking to get the prize money. It may not be a 100% certainty that people will be winning though, but taking chances is what gamblers do anyway. Plus, the requirements are pretty easy.

Yup, I need to plan it nicely, make it easy to enter, and at the same time force the participants to at least know how many legs a horse has!
And, yeah, somebody will be winning definitely, even if nobody manages to get any race winner I will still hand the prize to the guy that got closest to something, like one that managed to choose a horse that got at least second or third. I need to think about this!

What you'll be doing is something beneficial to the supporters or horse racing. I'm not sure whether people will be genuinely interested given that the only reason they will be joining is the prize money. It might force them to do a little bit of research and perhaps watch a few races, but after all is said and done, I don't know if they'll stick around. There aren't a lot of platforms around that post lines for horse racing so they might not follow the sport very closely.
1229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: September 03, 2023, 07:55:55 PM
Driver of the day, Sainz without any doubt. Today he has been a monster.

He managed to keep Verstappen at bay before the inevitable happens. I already expected that it's a Max win, but Sainz put up a show no doubt. It would have been Charles in the 3rd had the dude managed to keep his tires in shape by not braking too early or too late causing him to put a lot of wear on those tires. Nevertheless, it's good that the two Ferrari drivers are not clashing for placements, and the team knows that Sainz really deserves the 3rd place this time and not Leclerc. The man has been consistent throughout the race unlike the Frenchman.
1230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rant: Casinos should hire people who knows about what they do on: September 03, 2023, 07:39:12 PM
There are some people who lie about their resume, and as someone who tried being a customer support, the company should at least see to it that their agents are learning about what product/service they offer before sending them out to close tickets or read and copy/paste scripts. This is some oversight on the part of the casino for hiring agents that do not have the willingness to learn something about the platform. I guess this is why most casino platforms fail on the customer department - they don't hire the right people.

and before they know it, it was already too late. their patrons already gave them negative feedback, when in fact, it was the customer support who assisted him didn't know what he's doing. i believe, such situations really do happen. as the owners can't monitor all the time what their agents are telling to their clients. but if the issue is already big enough, that's when they will do further scrutiny of the issue and they may likely find that it was not being handled accordingly.

Damage control is what a lot of platforms do best and not damage prevention. These things could easily be avoided had they chose candidates for the job that are really willing to learn the ropes and provide actual customer service. While the platform itself may not really be doing something wrong, in this case it's the customer rep that stoke the flames that could have been put out easily if they know what to say.

...
But in 9 out of the 10 situations, I've noticed that these customer supports don't know anything about the website, but why are they working there?

They don't know much about anything, and they are working for some salary, which is simple, but it's hard to understand how someone hired them. I heard that support agents work for 300-400 dollars a month, which is certainly a little... the casino saves money by hiring an agency to do it for them. And when the salary is low, unskilled people are employed, as always.

There are tons of skilled people out there that can do the job for roughly the same amount. It's just that the recruitment team of these platforms are not doing their best to filter the applicants before sending them to final interviews. Also, I believe that customer reps should have continuous learning of the product or service they are trying to 'support' and not just be another salaryman that only takes and takes but never tries to give a little something for the job.
1231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: September 03, 2023, 06:42:20 PM
It's because gamblers who just wanted to have fun are always in the safe side, they just do it for the sake of entertainment while the losses or winnings are just a mere bonuses to them because that is not what they're after in the first place. While the gamblers that are only in for the money, they are surely in a dangerous situation because there will be a point in their activity where they need to make some tough choices that will determine their day.
The gamblers that go to the casinos to spend some money may have a bad day or two but eventually they will learn their lesson and become responsible gamblers, however those that are in it for the money will keep taking on bigger and bigger risks to make profits and then they will keep taking risks in order to recover the money they have lost already, not learning their lesson until they have lost way too much money, assuming they learn their lesson which may not happen at all.

The last part of what you said is scaringly true. There are lots of gamblers out there that do not learn a valuable lesson until there is nothing left to teach them. It reminds me of problematic gamblers just betting and betting on something until such time that they have nothing left to bet unless they borrow money from someone else. At that point, I believe the individual is beyond saving no matter how much intervention is done to them. They either have to lose everything before they stop gambling, or they lose everyone around them.
1232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 - Betting and Discussions on: September 03, 2023, 06:15:15 PM
Spain versus Canada was the most exciting. Spain rallied in the 2nd quarter trying to get away from Canada but damn, SGA and Brooks are in their zone in the last minutes of the 4th quarter where they got their first lead. The last 43 seconds is where the real fight begins and I thought the last shot of Spain was going to sink in, unlucky.
Canada did not cover the spread, lucky are those who just took the money line.

Canada edging Spain is really expected, though I thought the spread would be huge. I tried betting for the money line on Canada but failed to get the funds on time. SGA just gets basket after basket in the third and fourth quarter which helped team Canada close the gap before sealing the deal. 14 out of 16 free throws is something impressive, especially in a game wherein another superstar is expected to carry the game.

Sadly for Spain, they'll be missing the quarter finals. The number 1 team in terms of points just got knocked out by the rank 15 Canadians. I wonder how Canada fare against Slovenians, especially with Doncic on the other side.
1233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has your Responsible Gambling had any of these Effects on You? on: September 03, 2023, 05:34:33 PM
This is not a case of being addicted to gambling. There are people who are actually in control of their gambling habits or addiction. For instance, they do not gamble beyond their budget; they commit an hour or two to gambling per week or twice per week and strictly adhere to it, among all other things. We have heard and read stories here and out there about how gambling ruins lives, careers, relationships, throws people into debt and more. But my question is, could this be happening to everybody? Has your responsible gambling habit had any positive effects on your relationships with your spouse, kids, parents, and others? Has it improved your finances and helped you stay out of debt? Has it improved your mental health and well being in anyway? Has it been able to help you meet an urgent need? Let's discuss.

I think at some point we all experienced negative impacts of gambling, especially when we're just starting and new to the gambling world. But of course, as time goes by we learn and gain experiences, and from these experiences and learnings we are able to develop a good gambling habit. Like in my case, I haven't had a budgeting until I experience my biggest lose.

Or better yet, just forgetting about gambling after suffering a major loss. Most people who lost a lot would still want to breakeven before leaving gambling behind, but that day never comes. People will gamble and gamble until they dig a deeper grave for themselves.

Of course, a good habit always results to a positive outcomes. Having a responsible gambling habit helped me to improve my budgets, and prevented me from being in debt. Also acquiring a healthy gambling habit helped me to just enjoy my plays and not stress too much about it. Because again, fun and entertainment has always been the sole purpose of casino.

If this is how you view gambling then yes, it's something positive for you. You get to entertain yourself and not get deposit after deposit chasing losses and trying to breakeven. As long as people are viewing gambling as a means to make money, they'll just bury themselves in a lot of losses and it's not something very desirable.
1234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How was your first Bitcoin experience? on: September 03, 2023, 11:22:04 AM
It was confusing, to say the least. It was all new to me, cryptocurrency in general, so I'm not sure what I should and shouldn't be doing. It was a whole new world/system that I had to learn from scratch and it was pressuring in a way cause there's money at stake. I am knowledgable in technology and I spend hours upon hours of time on the internet, but cryptocurrency and Bitcoin were something I was so clueless about, at least how the system is and how investment goes. I had to learn from others' experience and my own, I had to face loses and gains, but with how it is contributing to my life now I'd say it is pretty much worth it to feel that clueless that time.
1235  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Mga upcoming crypto web events sa mga mahihilig umattend on: September 03, 2023, 11:01:12 AM
This is good, and salamat sa pag share. Isa pa, if mabalita o kumalat na may mga events na ganito I'm sure may mga kababayan tayo na magigiing curious as to what crypto is. Sana lang ay dumami pa ang ganitong mga events at sa iba't ibang parte ng bansa para mas maraming kababayan naten ang maka attend.
1236  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Hardware wallet survey on: September 03, 2023, 10:38:33 AM
1237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Honestly, Bitcoin fits in this gap more than others. on: September 03, 2023, 09:36:17 AM
You have stated it yourself, governments can't control it. Now, why would they submit themselves to adopting something they have no control over? It will cause a massive problem for them and will go against what the government is supposed to do, maintain control. Now, this is where I fail to see how Bitcoin will bring peace to us, it's a currency, and it will not end war or any massive differences that cause many problems between various nations. Look, here is the reality, Bitcoin is not perfect and it will not solve half of the economic problem the world is facing. It is a good investment, better than some currencies, but not perfect, and the truth it the majority of countries in the world will never legalize it.
1238  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: September 03, 2023, 08:21:02 AM
Elon did nothing wrong.

He kicked them useless employees because they were doing more harm then good. They were democrat sjw’s and let’s be honest nobody likes them other than the other democrat sjw’s. I like the current state of twitter more tbh. It is a lot more entertaining and even DJT sent a new tweet lately which means x is on the right path. Elon did the right thing buying twitter. Now he can promote anything he wants without any fear of getting censored by any democrat fuckwits like Dorsey or zuck.

This is what he is preparing to upgrade for the social network Twitter, a full-featured social network that is essential to us. So what is Elon doing wrong? We don't even need anyone to praise him for what he does, but feel it through our own experience. He is trying to bring the best social platform for us to use for free, but I don't understand why so many people are always annoyed with everything he does.

I want to ask, who are complaining about him, do you use twitter? Or are you using Mark Zuckerberg's Threads? Cheesy Cheesy. The worst social network I have ever experienced.

These planned changes are actually good, one platform for almost everything we want and need for online socializing. However, I think the reason why there are people who have negative feedback or opinions in regard to Elon Musk is that they are avid fans of the old Twitter or are just plainly against Elon Musk for some reason. Granted, we cannot please everyone, especially after the big rebranding of Twitter that everyone was already used to, but if they can only see how much Elon is changing the game they'll notice how unlike other social media sites he actually asks for opinions and is making big changes that makes Twitter more useful and handly for its users.

I don't know about everyone else but as far as X is right now, I'm liking most of what I'm seeing.
1239  Economy / Economics / Re: BRICS has become eleven countries instead of five. on: September 03, 2023, 07:46:09 AM
This main currency there have been reports that Russia is trying to come up with their own gold backed currency. I wonder if they will go back to backing on gold if it will be helpful and successful. USD was basically pegged to the dollar before and now the Saudis have followed suit with BRICs due to start in 1 day so I wonder if they would play a crucial role in pegging the main currency to oil or gold or a combination of both?

The USD will lose it value soon which is because there currency is pegged to oil which is gradually diminishing with time. The BRICS countries will keep increasing and I am very sure that most countries in Asia and Africa will be the major members because that everyone seems to be looking for freedom from the US dominance which could be benefiting the West but others are suffering from it. The USD would no longer be use as international currency for trades like it used to be.

This is a big claim, however, I would like to ask for citations or sources supporting your theory. See, despite the current happenings with BRICS, the reality is the US and USD are not going down as easily as everyone thinks they will. First off, a lot of countries have a reciprocal relationship with the U.S. in terms of debts and trade. USD collapsing is highly unlikely due to its stable status both politically and economically. Moreover, many nations hold reserves of USD and the demand for USD is high.

Now, until you cite credible sources that can actually provide great points on why and how USD will soon meets its downfall please let us refrain from just throwing random baseless theories that confuses new members.
1240  Economy / Economics / Re: How do we profit from Canadian recession? on: September 03, 2023, 07:30:09 AM
Not entirely sure who that tweet is from, and just a reminder for everyone that just because a Twitter/X account is verified it doesn't mean they are already professionals or relevant as the blue verification mark can be bought with a premium subscription now, I wouldn't worry much about this tweet unless a major website or news site that deals with world economic information states it. Besides, in the last 94 years since 1929 recession has happened in Canada (exactly 13 recessions of various sizes). From what I heard from my family members living there, those who are living in Toronto and Vancouver (and some surrounding areas) are experiencing a significant rise in rent, but outside of those areas, it is pretty much fine aside from the rise of prices of food and utilities.

As for how we will profit from it, we have to see first if this is true and how the market will actually go to make a definite decision.
