Is it riskfull running two or three wallets with the same wallet.dat ?
Unless you really know what you are doing, yes.  I imported a private key from one of my wallets to another, then tried to move 100 SLIMs into that new wallet, and poof... they were gone into the ether.  It may be possible to recover them, but hell if I know how.

USA addnode's

Code:
addnode=107.181.250.216
addnode=107.181.250.217

New addnode's hosted in Germany

Code:
addnode=144.76.142.47
addnode=144.76.142.49

Those German nodes were sorely needed.  Thanks!

THERE'S NO BURNED OR [NOT|UN]BURNED COINS

  • Slimcoin is only ONE coin. You burn coins to mine more coins, not to create another type of coin.
  • Burnt coins are gone forever. Stat!
  • Stop confusing shit! You can mine coins with either PoW or PoB... with PoW you spend electricity to find coins. With PoB you spend coins to find coins. Plain simple.

Let me rephrase my question.

I have coins in my Balance (I have not tried to burn). Can I sell these on the exchange in its current form?

Yes.

Warning:checkpoint is too old.Wait for block chain to download,or notify developers of the issue. Huh Huh Huh Huh
Add this to the .conf file

addnode=76.127.202.17
addnode=96.237.174.192
addnode=107.181.250.216
addnode=107.181.250.217
Thank you, but it does not solve the problem

It's taken up to 30 minutes for my wallet to sync.

Each SLIM is a seed to a money tree

If I were to delete everything in my wallet except for wallet.dat and slimcoin.conf in order to install the new daemon, would I lose my unconfirmed coins?
There is no need to delete any files, just update your wallet executable and run it.

I'm doing it from source on ubuntu.

Dev, have you considered hiring that hype man thisweekscoin?  I suspect that this coin could thrive with a bit of exposure.

We have not -- any links?  We're happy to get more exposure, as it's still pretty early on for us.  But so far so good :-)

It's this dude: https://twitter.com/ThisWeeksCoin  He's pretty well known in the crypto community.
I think confessioncoin could do really well if it were to reach twitter/facebook type crowds.

Slimcoin client fixed for failure while loading the blkindex.dat file.

Update your wallets

Binaries are available here: https://github.com/slimcoin/slicmoin-executable
Source is available here: https://github.com/slimcoin/slimcoin

What is the difference between the coins we find on the blocks and the coins once burned?

When i buy 1 SLM on the exchange is it a coin after burned or before?  Huh

Before, but could be produced from a different burnt coin.

Proof of Burn looks like it's going to be a bit disruptive in the crypto world.

Stay gold, Johnny

Has anybody built a block explorer for slimcoin yet?
1856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Slimcoin : Proof of Burn NEW BLOCK GEN, Mineable by low power computer! on: May 29, 2014, 04:03:14 PM
No. Whoever burns the most gets the PoB block. PoW is the same as on other coins.

So it's like an extra layer addition to PoW - one of the strategies is that you first mine these coins, then auto-burn them every block, getting a chance to win the PoB block.

Not clear how it supposed to protect against ASIC's and GPU then - whoever does the most on PoW, has the top chance to win PoB as well.

On top of that, whoever risks the most on burning has the biggest probability to get the PoB block.
Most of the stuff written in first post is bullshit.

Extremely vocal, and zero patience.  Very nice.

Are there technical limitations to the amount of data you can store in the blockchain?  I see you set the character limit at 256, but could you put, say, an image in that field if you wanted to?  I imagine the blockchain would get pretty large and unweildy if you were to store the Harry Potter series in 1080p on there, but there could be some room for interesting applications.

Just curious -- where did you get the 256 character limit from?  That's not correct, it's actually 500 bytes (technically 512, but we truncate confessions at 500).  And no, an image wouldn't make it intact (or any binary data) based on how we're passing and storing data.

But yes, storing arbitrary data (that can be arbitrarily large) in the blockchain is something to be explored, although disk space may need to be cheaper, as it could discourage people from running full nodes if the blockchain is Terabytes in size ...

It also gets into legal questions, e.g. is it legal to run a full node if the Harry Potter movie is a part of the blockchain (regardless of if you ever plan to watch it)?

Did we just postulate Torrentcoin?
Smiley
Could even just store the .torrents in the blockchain.
OP, I mis-remembered the character limit.
Another use could be storing wikipedia entries on a blockchain.  Just trying to think of things that would be good to have duplicated/distributed across the globe for preservation.
