I have a few 2013 1BTC silver w/ gold (1Ag6) that I am looking 2.3BTC each

Do you have PGP docs for them? I'd love to see some pictures of these as well!

I do indeed have PGP docs and can get some images to you as soon as i have a minute to upload them to a cloud somewhere. Great condition and i relocated them fromt he roll directly into airtites on Day 1 using a fresh pair of nitrile gloves. If i was in the states and not canada I would certainly send most of them for grading.
1842  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: June 02, 2014, 03:37:52 AM
I have a late May unit, and it's only averaging ~1300 GH/s at the pool (BtcGuild) using the "turbo fans, highest rate" setting. Is there anything I can do to increase performance?

This unit is running in a data center using 208v power, and temperatures are good (27C front, 69C back). I was expecting a bit more, so hopefully there are tweaks I can make to increase performance and this isn't just a low performing unit.

I have the same thing on 2 units.
Me too Sad

whats your advanced voltage settings? if your max voltage is set at default then that may be the limitation.
1843  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: June 02, 2014, 03:36:51 AM
Looks like one of my chips doesnt work?  Ive rebooted the miner, have the latest firmware, and have tried tweaking the voltage settings but with no avail.
Code:
43: 77c 825hz( 0/ 0) 0  1
perhaps switching over to 208V will kick some sense into the machine - otherwise it is running great right now at 1.3TH with the fans tuned down a little

I have a few questions though:
1) what is the HW error rate? is it the 'errors'/'accepted shares' on the main page? - because the initial power up makes a huge error rate seemingly. Pool stats seem pretty good though so wasn't sure if its like the antminers where a few other variables need to be accounted for in the error rate %
2) how accurate is the wattage reading on the asic stats page? Assuming its correct then these units really are outstanding at 1.34TH/1100W

edit: rebooted the miner to see if that remedies the odd chip, and now am getting weird results. The miner will spin up and sound like it is mining properly for about 45seconds, then drop to idle for 40 seconds, then spin up all the fans to mining speeds again.  pool shows alive and a few various chips read as 7fdf or 7fbf or 7ffd. Every spin up/down seems like it might be reducing thre number of weird chip codes

edit 2: something is bugging my miner. I disabled a file upload and it seems like that may have corrected the issue with hashing starting and stopping (I guess my upload speeds were too limited??). most chips but one (7fdf) are reading 7fff and miner is stabilising slowly. time for bed - i guess ill have to upload files another way?

^can someone confirm the bandwidth needs (especiall the upload speeds) of the miner? I was uploading files at ~66kBps which i know is slow but i thought is more than sufficient for mining
1844  Economy / Goods / Re: Buying Casascius coins [verifiable custody chains ONLY] on: June 02, 2014, 02:50:43 AM
I'm always on the lookout for Casascius coins, but it's hard finding coins with a verifiable (via PGP) chain of custody.

Do you have Casascius coins for sale? Were you the original recipient? You can ask Casascius to provide you with PGP-signed documents stating that you are the original owner of the coins. These documents can be the basis of a chain of custody that tracks the owners of a given coin, providing evidence of the coin's legitimacy.

Not the original recipient, but still have PGP custody docs? This is okay too!

No PGP docs and not willing or unable to get them? This isn't the thread for you Smiley

No idea what I'm talking about? Start reading here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=268965.msg4627318#msg4627318

OK, just paid out the balance of the underpaid NMC to everyone who was shorted.

Also, everyone got a 5%-ish bonus on NMC payouts for shares submitted between 2014-03-08 and 2014-05-30, for a total of 110% PPS NMC.

Back to daily 105% PPS NMC payouts now, starting tomorrow.

Happy mining!

-wk

Note:  There is now a minimum payout on NMC of 0.1 NMC.

wow - I just found a big deposit of NMC in my wallet - more than i imagined possible Wink

For the shares to be properly valued the DC should have been at >250TH already with clearly laid-out plans to expand to 1PH by the end of 2014.

Ken is certainly going to have a tough time paying back investors 25,000 BTC (or 0.0025 per share) when BTC is $3000+ and he's only running 100TH. 100 TH per month was the plan until Ken realized that he overlooked the AC limits in our datacentre (remember what i said a few pages back about attention to detail)

he overlooked the AC by a long shot though. 170TH was planned and only 100TH could be delivered and late. That means that the space they are using has only ~half of the needed cooling....

This DC needs to grow faster than the network to succeed, which means adding about 50%/month.  At this point I don't think ken is interested or able to do that
1847  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: June 02, 2014, 12:17:40 AM
Zum what is your evaluation based on?

I'm anticipating good news.  Deals being struck.  Contracts being awarded.  Dividends being paid out.  A significant rise in the price of bitcoin.  More good news.  More dividends being paid and a rush to buy up the undervalued shares.

I really don't see it taking much to turn things around and because time is of the essence it won't be long before we get to hear from the horses mouth.

The current price is a reflection of low shareholder confidence and the general mood of this thread and not business potential ActM currently has.  We're a fickle lot and won't need much convincing to change our tunes and with that our fortunes.

ha.

ken has not done anything to dissapate my fears recently. sure, he built a datacenter with a ~$150,000 worth of hardware. That would be impressive for the regular person doing this wiuth a few investors, but for ACTM this is pathetically small. For the shares to be properly valued the DC should have been at >250TH already with clearly laid-out plans to expand to 1PH by the end of 2014.
1848  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: June 01, 2014, 04:59:43 PM
First of all we have never had 20,000 BTC.

Then educate us, how much was raised?

Next, we just build a DC with ~100 TH, that wasn't free.

Will we be getting a dividend from this DC at some point?

We also have  boards in stock and those were not free either.

If we have boards, why not take Bargraphics up on his friends offer to host the entire lot?

Ken, what is going on?Huh?

We are working on deals to sell the boards to larger customers, which requires less support.

you failed to answer the two most important questions, and only managed to say "we are doing poorly at selling to individuals, so we will focus on selling in bulk for much cheaper" which basically just means fewer profits per board.

this is getting ridiculous ken.
1) WHEN WILL THERE BE A FINANCIAL REPORT?
2) WHAT IS THE TIMEFRAME FOR FIXING THE WEBSITE?
3) WHAT IS THE TIMEFRAME ON EXPANDING THE DATACENTER?  (we need a date and accurate hashrate, not like the 170Th there should have been already but cant seem to go past 60% of that)

I think these are three easy questions that can be answered accurately in only a few words. no vaugeties, just a promised date and result. The shareholders will be lining up to press securities complaints and charges very soon if not.
1849  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What Mining Hardware to purchase - Asic SCRYPT or SHA-256 Asic on: June 01, 2014, 03:06:28 AM
i personally think that bitcoin will be the highlander - there can only be one cryptocurrency that will take the world by storm in the next ~2 years and that will be bitcoin with the largest market cap by a longshot. LTC is rapidly losing value and the introduction of ASICs is pushing away the hobby miners that originally touted the asic-resistant scrypt algorithm.

if you can run things in a basement/garage with ventilation and soundproofing, go with the SP10 units for bitcoin. you could get 1 for well within your budget, or two for about ~$6000 total including shipping and taxes.

if you have a butt-ton of cooling and power, and perhaps are more sensitive to noise the S1/S2 antminers are great products but currently need to undergo a price drop
1850  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: June 01, 2014, 03:01:36 AM
I think that one address is one of the largest Bitcoin storage addresses.  It's likely some kind of Coinbase cold wallet or other similar service.

Ken said he's working at DC(?) to improve the hash situation.  Let's assume that's true.  He can't get anything else in there due to the AC situation.  So it would be common sense (Which doesn't always apply here) that Ken is having an HVAC guy replace the air conditioners with better ones.  That can be expensive.  Not thousands or hundreds even, of Bitcoins, but expensive enough to warrant Ken to be there for it.

an HVAC unit capable of handling another 50TH (~60kW) is a $5000-10,000 investment. were talking a few dozen BTC at the most. Whats going on is more disturbing

He claimed only a week or two ago that while the DC would not be capable of 170TH it would be able to run 120TH. (seriously, he fell short of promises by more than 30%).
now it looks like the DC cant run more than 100TH, which either means his 120TH spec (given when the DC was 80TH) was also out of touch with reality, or that he is mining elsewhere with 20TH+ just like he did with the 737GH of avalon equipment owned since late 2013.

its hard to believe he is sitting on his hands with a shitty out-of-date website and 50TH of boxed cards that wont sell as a result. I am willing to make a small bet that a proper audit would find equipment mining on a 'stealth pool' if someone actually inspected the amount of equipment in the DC and compared that to what is in the known eligius pool. And with the financial report nearly two months late this is even more concerning

First thing why can't you brush your teeths you filthy scum ? GOD.. Your breath must stink death just like the asian whore beside you. Be sure A LOT of people here will report you to INTERPOL, INCLUDING ME. The money which has been stolen is HUGE and you'll have investigators sticking to your ass day and night. You can put your BTC adress on USB in a hole, they will watch and track each of your moves for years. THIS IS A SERIOUS CRIMINAL CASE. We have all your informations. If you want to play with us then we'll play. All your infos are available on this thread, you ARE related to this scam as the main suspect. I wonder how much pressure a guy like you can handle before you start to cry.

Better refund people now and continue your lame existence without trouble. You'll not win this game. To every people from Norway please go get that sucker. I'm sure he will enjoy having new friends.

Mark my words Kenneth Bjorke. Someone who can't even brush his scabrous tartarish teeth cannot be that smart.

You watch out

---->

Some thoughts on prime suspect, Kenneth Bjorke / Bjoerke / Bjørke:

  • There is no evidence of any hosting company Kenneth runs, including on LinkedIn, websites, advertisements, etc. Nothing.
  • How would the owner (if it isn't Kenneth) have made contact and purchased a hosting service? This is implausible.
  • Kenneth claims he is just a web host, and only just signed up to [Suspicious link removed] (just google "yacoin kbjoerke").
Surely anyone mining Yacoin in mid-2013 was also into bitcoin and would have an account on bitcointalk before yacointalk.
  • Kenneth claims he isn't working at Fred Olsen as his LinkedIn suggests, but the email address kenneth.bjorke@fredolsen.no is valid and works.
  • The other name associated with the domain name, 'Anette Enger' has a PO Box address that is used by Fred Olsen, Kenneth's company.
  • If Kenneth is just web host, why was the coinmarket.io domain name changed to be in his name, albeit briefly? Why would any other domain owner do this?
  • If Kenneth is innocent but is feeling threatened, why is he still protecting the owner after cancelling their service? Why face all the heat?
  • How is it that Cryptoex.cc is identical to Coinmarket.io? Is this the next bitcoin-scamming site?
  • Kenneth lists some telling skills on Linkedin, including public-key infrastructure (pki) as well as ethical and black hat hacker groups.

Follow your coinmarket bitcoin deposit address and any deposits were sent through a web of multiple splits and combines (tumbling?), into ultimately very large addresses:

Unless Coinmarket.io got hacked, it was established with one purpose only: to steal bitcoin. They do not care about penny alts.
If Kenneth was legitimate, he has an immediate duty to shutdown Coinmarket.io before anyone else deposits bitcoin.
Kenneth is thus highly likely the culprit, or culpable by withholding information and continuing to operate the site being a party to fraud.

Anyone with bitcoin stolen should immediately submit a criminal report to Norway, through Interpol using your local police department.
The following information can be used along with your own evidence to support your legal action / crime reports :

Laws are tough in Norway. Kenneth is culpable and going to prison unless 'stuck' Bitcoin withdrawals are immediately processed.

it almost seems like ken put money into what is now being complained as a scam as recently as a month ago: https://blockchain.info/address/1HtoMBUKzRgS5X9WdnwZiQKQccvWBCPGx   (it goes through about 3 wallets first, but its a large enough amount that the movement to the coinmarket wallet is clear)

of course, most of this is meaningless without the financial report that was promised over a month ago.

I have never done anything like this, so a few questions from a newb:
1. My understanding that for undervolting as per bitmain scheme, I will be removing R3, etc. resistors, but then instructions are a bit thin for me…Do I put something else in place? bitmain says: refer to resistor value to replace. This is where I don't understand. I have to replace R3 and 7 other resistors (8 total, 4 on each board) with what?
2. how POTs came into this? Is it a POT I have to put in place of removed resistors, or is it optional and I can simply put a small droplet of tin where resistor (R3, etc) was?

Thanks

Yes remove the R3, R66, R38 & R52 resistors from each blade. Either replace these removed resistors with new resistors of the value Bitmain has given (3.24Kohm for 102.4Ghash or 4.02Kohm for 115.2Ghash).
Alternatively instead of putting in the fixed value resistors (3.24 or 4.02) put in a 0 to 10Kohm adjustable resistors (POT) (this is what is shown on the pictures attached a page or two back). With the POTs you can undervolt, go back to stock, or if you are brave overvolt with no more hardware changes!

Trends

just do a pencil mod. its easy enough that anyone can do it.  All you need is a pencil and a multimeter, and about 10-15 minutes per antminer.  (a 4B pencil is a bit easier to work with than a 2B/HB since its softer lead).  Its not as precise a method as actually soldering a new resistor, but its ~95% as effective and far faster and less likely to do permentant amage then using a soldering iron to remove/replace a SMALL resistor

Is pencil mod even stable or you have to constantly monitor the ant's power usage/HW mistakes and re-mod every week or two?

pencil mod is very stable. just remember that over the first day or two of operation the graphite is baked with heat and oxidized, and becomes *slightly* less resitive, lowering unit voltage so that clockspeed might need to tune down ~12MHz after 24hrs to remain stable. 90% of the time you wont notice unless you were finely tuning the clock to start with.

i would not suggest the actual resitor swapping with an iron to anyone but a pro - if you are not sure if you can do it with the tools you have - theres a huge chance youll end up desoldering nearby components and going in to a proper repair shop monday so a pro can fix your mistakes / burn marks. I personally like tinkering with solder as much as the next guy, but these itty-bitty SMD resistors require a lot of precision
1853  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: May 31, 2014, 11:52:21 PM
Received a unit today - very thoughtful design and packaging (my unit came from a skid holding several) The noise at startup with 100% fans is hilariously highpitched and loud.

currently running at 1.25TH  with 40% fans and 84C at the exhaust. At 40% fans the PSU is distinctly a bit louder. I might tweak it down aiming for 80C soon

edit: got this thing up on the windowsill and built a nice housing for it out of the carboard box/form it shipped in. does a very good job bringing noise down by about 50%. However, while the miner webpage says I have a speed of 1.295TH my eligius pool is only reporting ~1.1TH http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1Kt7LQ2MgGmyAWVFr8L8qQzwPhubK2QtCM.  Input/exhaust temps are 30C/66C  (inlet is more like 23C in reality).

is this issue just related to needing a better 3hr sample or is something in need of tweaking?

1854  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Custom Built Mining Shed on: May 31, 2014, 07:27:48 PM
Wow, you blew $4500 just setting up the room!  Kind of defeats the purpose of mining.  It's hard enough to make a profit without piling another $4500 on top of that!

Hosting would have been anywhere from $1,100-1,300 per month, per person when we only had 15-20 miners. With what we have now, we will hit full ROI in another 2 months or so, maybe less with the spike in price... Pretty easy decision in my mind, and I didn't have an issue putting my money to that.

Trust me, we weighed every option we could, and this was the best option, hands down!

+1. shed is a smart move. Anywhere you locate them you are looking a $500-1000 rent or more, is a remote location, and likely would require some initial modification (electrical work to run 30A 208V wiring/panel/fuses will cost $1000-2000. That doesn't include AC installation if its needed or the shelving/power bars/networking/fans/lights/smoke detectors to run everything properly.

even for a full $4500, saving even $500 a month to host in a remote location will pay off in 9 months. Its a permanent installation and you keep the shed forever
1855  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Custom Built Mining Shed on: May 31, 2014, 07:22:42 PM
Awesome farm! I was thinking about setting one up for a couple of GPU rigs but nothing on the scale of what you're doing. I love the wifi controlled lightbulb, that's a really good idea.

Have you run into any issues with the miners since setting them up there?

The PSU's have been the biggest issue thus far. We're using the 835w IBM PSU's, one for every 2 miners. They have a nagging habit of shutting off and you have to fiddle with them to get them back up. Luckily we're getting them for between $10-$14 per, so I'm not too concerned with having to replace them. Other than that, there's not too many issues we're facing yet. Very curious to see what happens when the outside temperature starts climbing. We've had a very mild spring and haven't really climbed into the Summer temps yet (100+ f). I would imagine there will be some more tinkering in our future to combat that.

try the DPS800 with the gigampz board. You can have a 1000W supply at 208/240V for about $50-70 after the cost of breakout board, PCIe cables, and PSU
1856  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit Sales Open, official sales price $2260 per Kit on: May 31, 2014, 07:19:34 PM
they must preparing something new as Bitmain no longer has the S2 complete
They should offer a all in one miner for the not so experienced miners.
55nm is old tech must be something new
the good thing is that they never stop to surprise us either with the price or product

This kit is just badly priced. If Bitmain priced it reasonably (about $1500) it would probably sell. Considering that they save significant money on the costs of a case, asembly time, and the size/weight of the shipping package, it must cost about $200 less than the S2 did.

really looking forwards to the next gen, since i feel these kits could do very well with a 28nm chip. The current prices of both the S1 and S2 kit are out of whack with reality and the SP10 units are becoming a better GH/$ and GH/W

Recently i am thinking about investing some money in mining hardware. How much should i put in such engagement? I know it depends, but i dont want to put all my savings..with what kind of money should i start and what recompnsation should i expect?

only what you can afford to lose. 10-20% of your 'investment money' is a goo place to start - don't go treading in all your blue chip stocks for BTC
1859  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and tinned ends - great for server PSU mods on: May 30, 2014, 10:31:16 PM
My original batch of cables is pretty much sold out completely!

I am preparing to order a new batch with revised design that will be 36", 16awg, and the ends will NOT be tinned to allow better twisting and flexibility (0.75cm stripped at the tips)

I expect I will be able to sell these for a similar price as the original batch/listing, perhaps for slightly less.  If you are interested in 50+ units please email me and I will be able to secure a larger order and pass on the bulk savings. The last batch was only 100 units and so far I am looking at 400+ units demand this time around.

I am also looking into Y-splitters made with 16awg cable
1860  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [GUIDE] Undervolt antminer s1 [1.19W/GH at the wall] on: May 30, 2014, 11:27:16 AM
they could put the resistors in and sell the modded ones as s-1A's

low power model.

better yet they could put in 8 pots 3k ohm to 4.47k ohm  and  sell them as adjustable models

ones with pots would be great - I would like to see them release a more compact 'S1A' with slightly smaller heatsinks closer together and an initial 150GH/200W spec. This could drop the costs slightly and handle the first small undervolting step for the consumer

I don't believe they will come out with such an exclusive run down version of Ant S1. I'm waiting for their new generation hardware announcement.

depends how far off the next gen is. If its still a month or two away it may serve bitmain well to release a slightly undervolted version of the S1 in order to keep competitive in poth price and efficiency.

I 'know' i cna undervolt my antminers when the time comes (very soon), but i really dont look forwards to repeating the process 16 times...
