One of those pennies seem to have the bitcoin symbol protruding from the back? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

monbux,

Thanks for the question. Actually, it's a little of both. Smiley

The backside is smooth to the touch, but the slight pattern of the BTC-symbol does show thru in the right lighting / angle. Regardless, the backside is perfectly smooth, and there is no evidence of the BTC-symbol under the stickers.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Regards,
Chris

Hi, dArkjON.

I love your products. Smiley

Just yesterday, I was thinking about having a custom keychain / necklace made, and these look exactly like what I was picturing in my mind. I very well may be ordering one (or two) of your keychains soon.

May I ask, what kind of metal is this?

Thank you.

Chris

What size airtite is that?

I'm not sure if that particular Air-Tite™ was purchased from us (TBPCo), but the ones we offer are 23mm. (Perfect fit.)

Chris

Here's one I put together last night.

I think it looks really sharp, however... I can see the stamp from the BTC symbol on the front on the back slightly from where it was pressed/made, so I assume there is really no room to create a recession for the paper key. I suppose one could always put a QR code underneath the holo of the private key, but not sure where the public key would go/fit?

It's a tough decision I guess. I suppose if they were slightly bigger or thicker, they would make decent BTC DIY wallets, but again, the size is a bit restrictive.

Anyhow, just my initial thoughts, I am still glad/happy to have some.  Grin

Cheers! Smiley

Thanks for the photo, owlcatz! Smiley

Yes, you can see a slight BTC-shaped mark on the blank side, before adding the sticker to cover it. However, the blank side is already recessed. (The coin blank comes completely flat. Then, we use a blank die stamp to create the recessed edge /rim.) We could possibly create a second, more recessed square (or circle) in the center of the blank side, but we didn't need that for our particular prototyping purposes. And given the simple nature of our collectible coins, we didn't think a more recessed square was a high priority.

That said, if we receive enough interest in these DIY Bitcoin Penny™ physical bitcoins, then we will be more than happy to consider a full 2017 release, along with the possibility of a special recessed area.

Regarding the public addy, we'll have to consider that a bit more. It might be worth exploring. Personally, I never really cared about incorporating a public addy feature for these coins. Most of the DIY physical bitcoins I've owned don't come with any method of attaching the public addy to the coin. They simply rely on keeping the public addy written on a piece of paper, hopefully somewhere near the coin (like folded inside the coin's protective case). However, I suppose it would be simple enough to redesign the sticker to allow for a clear / see-thru strip in the middle. Why not? Wink

Thanks again for your feedback, owlcatz. It's always welcome. Smiley

Chris

1869  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] FinitebyDesign 1oz Silver Round(Assembled) LOW STARTING Ends 16/10 on: October 15, 2016, 02:16:55 PM
They were assembled originally by Chris M from F*D, I didn't assemble them.
coin is assembled with hologram and 1 private key.
Comes in original capsule+public key in a paper.

Did you provide the address + key, or were those generated by F*D?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris these are indeed cool.  If i may suggest i do agree with bg4.  Someone can just put the sticker on and say there is .01 under there but noone could verify.  Not a biggie now but when btc hits 10k (if) then it would make sense to verify each and every bit.  Very cool though looking forward to 2017.

Totally agree. Never counted on the tiny .01 BTC being worth any significant amount in the future. Embarrassed

Can you share the font and size you used so the DIY can be the same as yours?

Yes, absolutely. I believe I used the "Menlo" font (Pages on MacBook) at the "5" font. If you have a good printer, then you could likely go smaller. You could also look into the mini private key format used in the Casascuis and a few other coins. That saves a little more space.

Regards,
Chris
