18861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Death to the mercenary miners! on: July 19, 2011, 07:17:52 PM
High volume is not a measure of miners selling bitcoins, OR of speculators selling/buying... For example...

1 man mines a coin, sells it.  This causes price to drop.

A trading bot buys coin, resells it $0.05 higher than buys it again $0.05 cheaper, rinse and repeat.  This causes high volume.

Conclusion:
Miners selling coins is what is driving the price down.  Trading bots buying and selling coins repeatedly is driving the volume up and stabilizing the price so you can see the nice steady decline that miners liquidating their coins are causing.

I hope that is simple enough.

To make another point, if 7,200 coins are being created daily, it would take an injection of around $100,000 per day just to keep the price stable.  Lets say 1/2 of those miners are not selling the coins... That is still $50,000/day that needs to be injected into bitcoins from other currencies.  Obviously, we are not seeing that, hence, the price is declining.

*I don't believe early adopters selling coins are causing the price to drop.  They are in no hurry to cash out or they already would have and wouldn't be causing a slow motion crash due to them being early adopters and believing in the BTC...

Traders go where the volume is.  Nuff said.

18866  Economy / Trading Discussion / Best PayPal type Bitcoin site for accepting online store BTC payments? on: July 18, 2011, 07:10:36 PM
I was surprised to see that there are already several sites offering a BUY button you can incorporate into your website similar to PayPal.  I'm trying to offer some items from my website to be purchased with BTC and am looking to add a BTC BUY button next to my paypal buttons in my store. Has anyone else here done this? What was your experience? What is the best site for this?
18867  Economy / Services / Re: BOUNTY: Bitcoins for prank calls! on: July 18, 2011, 07:07:10 PM
Got this anonymously. It's pretty funny. Somebody sent me two calls, one which went to voicemail and one which went to him.

On the plus side, this means he's hasn't given up on his phone yet, so we can continue the harassment! (I'm looking at you OgNasty Cheesy)

I haven't had any success with calling... But his number was signed up for 3 different scam horoscope companies that charge $9.99/month.

Any offers?
18869  Economy / Speculation / Re: Long, slow slide on: July 18, 2011, 05:04:36 PM
How far/low do you think it'll go?

I'm guessing it hits the recent intraday low of just above $11 before the bleeding stops.  Where it goes from there depends on the news coverage.
18870  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB - Norton Internet Security 2011 on: July 18, 2011, 05:01:06 PM
I use http://www.avira.com/ - It's free, and it works great.  Just google how to get rid of the annoying daily popup.  No wallet.dat issues as with some of the other security software.  I highly recommend over Norton.  Tip please.   Grin

I didn't realize this site had been completely given up on.

I just successfully completed my first survey using your link.  How long does it take before the BTC show up in my account?

18873  Economy / Goods / [SOLD] Nintendo Wii w/ wiikey2 mod chip & 2 controllers/nunchucks on: July 16, 2011, 08:15:13 AM
I have a Nintendo Wii with a solderless WiiKey2 mod chip installed.  It is in perfect condition and comes with 2 controllers and 2 nunchucks.  I'll also include Wii Sports.  I'm asking 15BTC or best offer.  Will ship to anywhere in the US.

I also have Wii Rock Band 2 with the guitar, mic & drum set that I'd be willing to sell for 6.5BTC or best offer.

Free shipping on both items.

One thing I can tell you is that he doesn't like hearing a fax machine on the other end of a 4am wakeup call.

More stories please! hehe

I haven't been able to get him to pickup the phone again.  I think he gave up on his phone...

So your sig talks about winning 100.000 BTC. I'd very much like to win a hundred thousand bitcoins.

Click the link then...

Thanks for putting up a poll.  It was hard to tell that this symbol is overwhelmingly preferred from the other post.  Just think if you only allowed 1 vote...

Has anyone received a payout from this site?  Anyone taken the time to figure out if this is legit, by that I mean are you getting the BTC you would be from CPU mining on a pool without this site?

I have 380 shares, and haven't received the first .01BTC

I'm hoping they will send it eventually.

They sure seem to be "gone fishing" a lot.

I'm considering this a scam until I hear otherwise.  A shame because I really liked the idea of a "Donate your CPU power" button on my website.
