instead of printing off a paper wallet is it possible to instead write down an address' keypair/ would I be able to restore from just this combination?
Writing them down may actually be safer, but as others have said, make sure you get the keys right. You could also take a picture of them etc.

Well Gen Tarkin obviously it is your personnel opinion that bitcoin has a prosperous future but in my personnel opinion it is hard to predict about brightness of bitcoin in future. Although many companies have begun to accept bitcoins due to its high popularity while many other companies are considering to use it but if countries like china start banning it then you would see how many companies retreat suddenly.
China hasn't banned it, it's just stopped deposits from happening on exchanges. Governments can put restrictions on it, but it's futile trying to ban it outright as it wont happen - people will still use it even with risk of punishment.

There's a high likelihood that "Satoshi Nakamoto" is a group of people and the pseudonym doesn't belong to one single person.
Plus - if he was ever going to come out from under his bed - it wouldn't be to sign a message to you.
What makes it a high likelihood? I know it's possible that it isn't just one person, but haven't seen any high evidence for it. Multiple news outlets have done research and all of the potential "Satoshi Nakamoto(s)" were groups of people. It'd be too difficult for one person to create this - proficiency in networking, programming, security, economics, etc... And if one person did do it, it would take years. It seems more likely "Satoshi Nakamoto" is a pseudonym for multiple people. Which news outlets? He might've been working on Bitcoin for years before he released it. I'd think it'd be harder to keep ahold of all Satoshi's coins if it was a group of people as opposed to one. Good point. All those old wallets with thousands of coins would be mighty tempting right now. If it was a group, you're just multiplying the number of people who would become greedy and want their share or to cash out.

I'm new When I first began researching bitcoins, I read that the total number of bitcoins that could be mined was 12 million... But today I was reading an article that said it was 21 million? Was that just a typo, or has the number risen? https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/FAQ#How_long_will_it_take_to_generate_all_the_coins.3FThe last block that will generate coins will be block #6,929,999 which should be generated at or near the year 2140. The total number of coins in circulation will then remain static at 20,999,999.9769 BTC.
Even if the allowed precision is expanded from the current 8 decimals, the total BTC in circulation will always be slightly below 21 million (assuming everything else stays the same). For example, with 16 decimals of precision, the end total would be 20,999,999.999999999496 BTC.

Quite hilarious. I'm all for recycling but I think this may be taking it a bit too far. lol When I die I'd love to be turned into a helicopter/drone, now that would be going too far .

Don't mess with Bitcoin! Ooh yeah, a ddos attack on a website, they really showed China. This just looks bad on Bitcoin tbh. It's probably some little kid messing around, it's not really a big deal IMO. This is not going to stop Bitcoin from rebounding I guarantee you. We're going up up up from here! I predict $10,000/Bitcoin sometime next year. It is just kind of an interesting article if you like to follow the computer security/hacking world. I find it fascinating reading most of the time. Some of the things hackers do blows my mind. This is just a Ddoss though.. big whoop. Script kiddies gonna script kiddie. Hackers can be geniuses; script kiddies and ddos-ers, not so much. It's the equivalent of pulling off an expert heist vs throwing a brick through a window and doing a smash and grab, except they don't steal anything .

It would be way more better if you paid in BTC He apparently does: I'd like to confirm that I have received a payment. OP is legit!
How much did you get? And was it in crypto or PP? $5 in BTC for my first 10 constructive posts.

What well known companies are planning on accepting them? I think it'll only take one big company to start using them and the value will skyrocket again.
Just keep browsing the press section, theres at least 1 biggish outfit announced per week that accepts them... Keep in mind, some arent in the states.. Also, the numbers of places on coinmap.org grows , almost at 2000 worldwide, granted these arent big companies ... but still, it shows adoption =) Depends what you define as biggish. I wouldn’t say many big companies are dealing with it at the moment, but 2014 is going to be an exciting year for sure. I think it'll slowly gain traction and once bigger businesses start dealing with it it'll have a knock-on-effect, but these market crashes aren't good for mainstream adoption.

I try PM'ing someone and I get a message that my IP needs to wait 360 seconds before posting yet I didn't send a single PM message today, let alone in the last month.
Nice life.
Log-ins and posted / attempted posted messages count too. And searches? Yep, missed that one. I'm sure there's one or two other things that count as well .

Does anyone know what really sets this coin apart from the rest? I haven't read/heard anything particularly interesting about it yet. Any help would be appreciated Nothing does, it's just a joke based on a meme so that's where it gets its popularity from.

I thought you were going to say Christmas. I posted this in another thread but: I made my first non-BTC related purchase with BTC yesterday (putlocker.com file hosting). So incredibly easy, fast, free. Really impressed. Now, granted it could turn out to have been an expensive purchase (if BTC rockets), but I think more spending is needed if retailers are going to start accepting BTC. So yeah, that experience got me excited. Putlocker accepts BTC? That's my favourite hosting site. Although, I can't see why I would need an account as it's unlimited downloads and one of the fastest hosts out there even as a free user.

While it would be nice, I really don't think India would be a huge player on the same scale as China, not in the near future anyway. Yes there are a minority there with big money to invest but the majority are dirt poor. Although, I do think big gains will still come next year and ahead of that, from wall st and further adoption in the western world.
Doesn’t have to be India, it could be any country. And in developing countries it's sometimes hard or to get access to a bank, so things like Bitcoin could be a big hit with poor or impoverished people / communities

Yeah, I'm holding my coins for a while until they gain more mainstream acceptance and more merchants start accepting them, so I don't sweat the bubbles/crashes. It's still early days for Bitcoin.
What well known companies are planning on accepting them? I think it'll only take one big company to start using them and the value will skyrocket again.

I think it will keep going down, then back up, then down again and finally back up again.
This will probably happen for ever as long as idiots keep panic selling.
