card, windows version, settings, miner type

kaspersky says nothing but I was just curious because it never loaded a blockchain Wink

I wonder if it's just redirecting our work to it's creator's pool, mining litecoins for him, and sending bogus messages about finding blocks.  I don't see how it can be real without a blockchain download.

That would've been great on April Fool's Day.  Cheesy  I know what I'm doing next April 1st.

OP, do you have anything to add? Or did you just post this and run? lol

...with your wallet.  Tongue  Can someone confirm this is a trojan with a virus scanner or something?

Whoops

All the wallets on my miner PCs have nothing in them, so go for it XD
1905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: **Mincoin** Bronze To Bitcoin Gold [minute blocks] [scrypt mining] on: April 03, 2013, 01:41:04 AM
I made the .conf file but still stuck with a blank terminal seemingly doing nothing.

Not sure what the deal is.
same, reaper shows the json output from the daemon stating that mincoin is not connected to the mincoin network

says there are no peers on the network.  that was fun!

hopping on for the pump and dump, anyone want 50,000 mincoins?
1908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEW CURRENCY] Maria 2.0 was banned, here is her proof. The birth of Bytecoin! on: April 03, 2013, 01:06:06 AM
My Symantec antivirus deleted bytecoin-qt.exe, with Bitcoin or Litecoin all normal. So what is this currency? Troyan horse or virus?
Both.

 Cool
Has anyone seen my bitcoins?
1909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GUIMiner-scrypt: A GUIMiner fork for mining scrypt chains on: April 03, 2013, 01:00:25 AM
Which pool?  Notroll.in still accepts shares even if your credentials are invalid, so try another pool first maybe

Im on coinotron. The same system has a 6950 in it and its getting shares accepted - no problems... Tried with and w/out Stratum selected for the 7950 in GUIminer scrypt alpha. Tried using reaper as well as cgminer, but it seems reaper never starts. Could 4gb system memory be an issue with these two cards on Win7 x64?

I tried setx MAX_GPU_ALOC_PERCENT 100 and its said its saved succesfully but this didnt help.

It looks like something is broken with cgminer 2.11.3

Try going into your guiminer folder, then into the "reaper-yourminername" folder and running reaper.exe, and then let me know what the output is from the console.
1910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ppcoin transaction fees on: April 03, 2013, 12:47:13 AM
Are the transaction fees calculated from the size of the transaction in bytes, like for BTC and LTC?

Another potential problem with PPC is that PoS generate a huge amount of tiny fractions of coins over time that add up to large amounts in blockchain fees when they are actually spent.  Given a small amount of PPC, I imagine it is actually be a disincentive to hoard and get stake blocks for years on end because you'd just get swamped in transaction fees for the many kilobytes of inputs that you'd have to spend from.

What I really worry about in PPC's proof of stake system is the general disincentive not to save coins -- I think the maximum return for hoarding stake coins is 1% for year, while the currency inflates wildly according to the quantity of miners.  Without a strong incentive to hoard coins and avoid spending them, the PoS system falls apart.

Network just hit 6 gh/s

My guess is that something is very wrong with 2.11.3 cgminer, switch to reaper.
1913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPCoin up 300% in a day on: April 02, 2013, 11:52:11 PM
The PPCoin dev seems to be putting in a ton of work on his, too.

Like Jutarul, who finds and publishes the exploits. Grin  SK is very responsive, I just wish he was more transparent in his actions.  The only other developers at this point are the people who try to find security holes.
1914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PPC] PPCoin Released! - First Long-Term Energy-Efficient Crypto-Currency on: April 02, 2013, 11:11:27 PM
How long does it take before I can mine PoS blocks?  I bought 2.5k PPC on a whim over a week ago and no PoS blocks yet.

Yeah, thatd work.

Probably

I would get powered risers for all cards

It's a budget board, I guarantee nothing
1918  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: These risers are fine? And some watt consumption question, and cpu :P on: April 02, 2013, 09:59:02 PM
short answer: yeah
1919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GUIMiner-scrypt: A GUIMiner fork for mining scrypt chains on: April 02, 2013, 09:57:36 PM
That's a high number of stales.  You can try stratum (unless you're already using it) or increasing thread_concurrency to 4000.

About to assemble my first rig. I'll call it the TacoMiner, as a tribute.

Last question : can I use a flash drive instead of the SATA HD ? I want to start with a windows system first though, I need to study up before I can use the linux command line interface.

As far as I know, no, not with Windows 7 at least.  I always use SATA HDDs.
