1903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hold On To Your Vertcoin Hats ... on: March 20, 2014, 08:36:48 AM

Was an interesting ride.
but was too artifical for me after studying.

probably was just 1 guy buying.
then miners will dump, everyone will dump.

I will be glad to be proven wrong, but I decided not to join this ride.
unlike the Doge run at all.

the Doge might be down but when coins that the smooth or round peaks and valleys it's easier to see what's coming.  And given the volume it's a fairly safe way to make money going up as well as going down.
1904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Hold On To Your Vertcoin Hats ... on: March 20, 2014, 08:20:19 AM
Like all roller coasters at the very end of the ride it levels out and coasts to a stop before starting all over again.

Well, The Vertcoin roller coaster ride did a huge and very steep climb, followed by another steeper and taller climb ... HOLD on to your hats my friends ... where're about to --- WHE...E..E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E....

The thing about rides like that, the steeper the climb the more likely you will get, [wait for it] VERTI-GO. hahahahaa

enjoy

1905  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Criminal complaint against Mt. Gox and Mark Karpeles on: March 20, 2014, 08:09:01 AM
There's an embarrassing irony, watching libertarian bitcoiners, passionate about a currency that doesn't depend on the government, screaming for the protection of the SEC.

If Mt Gox has a small team working on solving this, and they are as incompetent as everyone says, holding them up in a law suit isn't going to make them fix the problem any faster. If they were insolvent then I would hope they would have had the good sense to tap into this ongoing arbitrage opportunity which they have exclusive access to, in order to balance their books by now, and there's plenty of cash for everyone.

As far as I can tell, Bitcoin's fiat withdrawal hasn't ever been halted. Didn't I read that in a MT Gox press release? One of the tiny bits of information they have given out. It's still as painfully slow (over a month) as it's always been. All you have to do is ask for your cash. Has anyone read through the terms and conditions we signed up for when we opened our MT Gox accounts? Does it say anything about timely access to fiat and BTC?

These guys (at mt gox) are clearly not the sharpest tools in the box, under resourced, badly managed, indifferent to the balling of their customers, but right now, letting them get on with their IT fix is the best we can do.

Disclosure: I have a good few BTC in MT Gox and would very much like to get it out to Bitstamp asap. I have no doubts that MTGox has enough cash and BTC to cover my investment. My only doubt is if they have the wherewithal to develop their software solution this side of March.

work on it in jail, you get out when the money is found -- that simple

1907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: From BTC 2 LTC 2 AUR on: March 20, 2014, 04:21:40 AM
Best read all day

Thanks

I had some $650 btc sitting around (I never like that), so I decided to put it to work, lite is the common alternative so I did that but although there was some profit to be had it was minimal because rates were not as volatile just on a escalator that you new was going to end,  when I looked at AUR it seemed to just come out of a crash and was rebounding, so I moved into AUR just just as it was coming down from the peak, even the bumpy ride DOWN was profitable I could not believe my experience.

As a result I yanked more from btc and had a Wonderland experience Aurora Coin Park.  Cheesy

Your sig is promoting an advanced strategy game.
Your thread is "Calling On The Smartest Bitcoin Pros In The World"

If you don't sense the need for a different strategy, then perhaps you should hire a pro.  Tongue

Huh?

I don't fully understand your driving point, so please elaborate.

And how in the world would you define "pro" in the context of cryptocurrency arbitrage?

cosmofly, you did well, and you did good (obviously not spot on but close enough), time for you to join the speculators club where your insight is actually appreciated
1910  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitcoin Speculators Club Is Here ... on: March 20, 2014, 03:51:35 AM
I tried an experiment, learn a lot by way of it, would like to see if others share the view.  I've found that there are some times of the day that appear to be ideal for trading specific coins. so the questions are:

- have you found that to be the case for you,
- if so, what is the best time of day to day trade in general, and
- what might be some of the cryptocurrencies, exchanges, or venues that you are able to benefit more from at specific times of the day?

Here are some of my findings:
for coins that are widely held and like LTC and BTC, time of day seems to have little impact,  but for some highly volatile coins I've notice that between 2 - 4am est when many are sleeping, and many computers are on auto maintenance (cleaning, formatting, defrage, backing-up, etc ...), exchange activity is basically very few humans against very few bots.

The second best time was between 5am and 5:45am, perhaps this is the period just before viewing the computer, or during S/SSS.

But the sweet spot appears to be that time when the kids are giving you a hard time waking up, breakfast is being consumed, and the mad dash is taking place -- 7am to 7:30am

What's your experience?

Agreed. I'm not sure if this would make it the "best" time to trade, but there certainly seems to be more action around the time when the US wakes up (7-9am EST) and during dinner time for me (7-8pm EST)

oh, perhaps I should have qualified my statement, that seem to be the best time to get the lowest buy prices (bargains)
1911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / From BTC 2 LTC 2 AUR on: March 20, 2014, 03:31:50 AM
When the gift of BTC stop giving I went to LTC when that seemed to peak I feel a need to get into AUR for the first time, I'm impressed by the price volatility, even the volume is unstable  Smiley    I like it

1912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Calling On The Smartest Bitcoin Pros In The World on: March 19, 2014, 07:57:56 PM
Humans Vain idiots From birth to death everyone INCLUDING YOU are designed to want acknowledgement, recognition, and be appreciated, regardless of financial worth.

FTFY. It doesn't matter how you try to justify or re-frame it. You're pandering to idiots. Bitcoin is not a tool with which to do this.

It is you who is seeking to reshape and reframe what is naturally good, and have it viewed as either unnatural and wrong or naturally wrong.

The type of mentality your are expressing, is rooted in another natural behavior, a naturally bad behavior -- jealousy.

A child at birth REQUIRES by design to be held, and to be given copious amounts of attention to enable them to learn all that they will need to negotiate the world they are born into.  From toddlers to tween the NEED for "attention" turns to a WANT for acknowledgement, then from teen to death degrees of that want for acknowledgement, recognition, and appreciation remains.

If it is natural, if it has a naturally good purpose, that it right; if it is natural, but has no naturally good purpose then it is either bad, no good, or wrong.
Acknowledgement, recognition, and appreciation are all good things, if they are good to give, logically someone must be on the receiving end of that shared goodness.

Finance is a complex subject, arbitrage is a more complex subset of finance, but neither are as complex as cryptocurrency, for those of us who choose to want to do CC arbitrage it makes great sense to approach it in a group setting, a setting that recognizes, acknowledges, and appreciates the good things each member brings to the table.

1917  Economy / Speculation / The Bitcoin Speculators Club Is Here ... on: March 17, 2014, 07:57:14 PM
This invitation is to all those who see bitcoin as an income as well as an asset, who want profits when it rains and when it shines, who look at charts multiple times a day, who can value a position based on a concrete set of criteria, and who are willing to share financial strategies and tactics.

Our primary objective is to create enormous personal wealth.  The membership will likely be small, perhaps 100 members within a month, but will steadily grow with proven performance and responsible actions.   If this sounds like something for you -- WELCOME ABOARD.

Please identify yourself by one of the following (you can change it at anytime):

1) Speculator -  day traders who will share effective btc strategies and tactics, and support club activities, but not expected to make recommendations; these individuals are the core of the club.
2) Prognosticator - day traders who intend on making recommendations, sharing knowledge, and participating in club activities; these individuals are the axis on which the club turns
3) Holder  - those here to learn about day trading and to provide club support
4) Supporter -  those who want to support the club and aspire to day trading.

This thread will be used for all public communications until otherwise determined; te opening post will be amended from time to time to reflect updated club:
 - roster
 - leader board
 - protocol (the way the club chooses to do things)
and
 - benefit

Our main focus is profitable prognostication, members are encouraged to get to know one another with engaging and informative discussions as we ramp up to eventual recommendations. I invite you to discuss your favorite currencies, share situations that you feel may have value to the community, indicate what you expect from the club, and what the club should have on it's 'to do' list.

Club To Do List
Immediate - get to know one another, decide on club name, club motto, finalize protocol for formal recommendations, create protocol for the process of raising an issue for eventual recommendation, and  create voting protocol,
Short term (3 mos) - create logo, election of officers if 100+ members, committees if 200+ members,
Long term - security, service provider certification,
Ongoing -  to be a beacon for the btc community, design incentives to make day-to-day wealth building fun

You are cordially invited to join The Speculators, for sustainable wealth, ... or ... The Bitcoin Investment Club,  a wealth building network. ...

1918  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for March 16 Dip on: March 17, 2014, 06:20:40 PM

It doesn't matter to me if it's true, a hoax, revelation, inspiration, hacked account tolling, or whatever I've learned long ago that opportunities come in very strange ways, those who are able to recognize them are those who will benefit the most.

I'd call this "benefit of the doubt".  I'd then counter with "The boy who cried wolf".

Look deeper my friend, there's a reason why the 'boy cried wolf', focus on the 'benefit' and less on the 'doubt', that's how you find and maximize rare opportunities.

"+/- 2"

This is only the start of the +1, we still have another, if we end up in $500+ ranges by +2, I think you guys will owe him a huge apology

Perhaps you're right. But just so we're clear:
1) You believe that OP has an autistic savant friend who can predict btc price with uncanny accuracy?
2) You believe this uncanny accuracy should nevertheless be stated in vague terms of a 4-day window?
3) Ditto no detail on what constitutes a 'dip' (5%? 50%?)?
4) You think the whole digression about the 'girlfriend' was in good taste?
5) You've checked cosmofly's other posts and know that this kind of crap is entirely out of character?

Just to nail my own colours to the mast, I'm not expecting to do any apologising, coincidental dip or otherwise.

Oh, there's no surprise there, you represent the norm here, people who are quick to curse and slow to praise.

As for me, I encourage the OP to try to develop whatever senses he and/or his friend are trying to work with, in the right setting it might prove useful.

Savants are rarely appreciated by the larger audience, I'm in the smaller audience that does appreciated them for whatever they bring to the table of life ,to share with the rest of us.

As for all of the other contentions, I don't care his girl and I'm not motivated to look at his past posts.

It doesn't matter to me if it's true, a hoax, revelation, inspiration, hacked account tolling, or whatever I've learned long ago that opportunities come in very strange ways, those who are able to recognize them are those who will benefit the most.
