1941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM - New Economy Movement - NEMstake Tokens Listed on NXT Asset Exchange on: June 18, 2014, 12:31:05 AM
I am looking at the asset transaction page. So if I'm not mistaken, 30 tokens were issued today? Price hovering around 20k NXT with buy support of 10.2 stakes ranging from 15k-20k. Quite healthy if you ask me.
Yeah, drop from 25k to 20k (20%) in few hours is quite health. I assume you are economic shark?

A 20% change one way or another in cryptoland isn't exactly something unusual. I'd expect as alpha gets closer, the price to rise a bit too (or at least I'd think so).
1942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin makes reuters headlines with link in article to Litecointalk (dying?) on: June 17, 2014, 08:24:07 PM

So we got ourselves 2 nice commodities to hoard and trade...
But it will be ANOTHER coin or note that will become a currency...
Something that is AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE MORE CONVENIENT and modern than BTC...
I would bet it will run almost entirely on cellphones and smartcards.

I've wondered a bit about using any crypto as a currency, and run into the same problem. What benefit is there to the consumer (at least currently)?

It's like a very slow debit card, requiring installed wallets, without any benefits found in most credit cards (price protection, discounts, consumer protection).

A smartcard sort of solution could work, if it combines credit card benefits + ease of use. I think one of integrated payment gateways (coinpayments, gocoin, etc) may be the way to get cryptos into general use, if they somehow combine the gateway with a debit card plus also offer discounts for using cryptos for purchases. Maybe something like a shopping portal would work, as plenty of those exist with credit cards offering discounts.

That way, cryptos could be used with any merchant at all; some could get discounts if using the portal, and merchants wouldn't have to sign up for anything, it'd just be treated like a debit/credit card.
1943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: www.CoinsSource.com | Premium Source Launching Jun 30 | SourceCoin (SRCC) on: June 17, 2014, 08:13:13 PM
Forum issues on the site? I don't see that improvements link anymore.

One suggestion I thought of: offer a giveaways section. I don't mean to turn it into cryptosandwich and actively promote coins, as that could be looked upon as a conflict of interest for any site reviewing coins. But no real harm doing it like polo, just have a little giveaway tab, occasionally give away a random coin. It'd both promote new coins (in a minor way) and also bring traffic to the site.

You could also use that same section to mention/review giveaways here in this forum. There are less coins doing the free distribution model lately, but for a while there we were so overloaded with them that it was easy to lose track -- com/itc/smurfs/energy/sunflower, etc. A little section mentioning what cryptos currently have full or partial free distribution probably would be of use to people.
1944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE / BIT-ADOPTION! on: June 17, 2014, 07:32:45 PM
any good news and plans, announcments ?

how we will prevent that xbc won't dump 1000%  when hits mintpal ? Smiley

regards

Pacek

The devs really should time it so they release some new features, some marketplace stuff, or at least show more of what is being planned, before it hits MP. As otherwise, yep, I'd expect some dumping. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean a catastrophic dump, but a lot of that depends on the devs. They need to dangle carrots or add value to the coin so people hold once it gets to MP.

Another carrot could also be cryptsy voting... one big exchange is nice, but two is even better.

1945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin makes reuters headlines with link in article to Litecointalk (dying?) on: June 17, 2014, 06:38:26 PM

They don't take NXT or DRK.  And they won't.

LTC can buy food, groceries, furnishings, pay for your dinner date, buy guns, buy clothes, buy jewelry, gold, silver, buy 4K HDTVs, buy computers, buy miners, just about anything you can think of.

https://www.egifter.com/
https://www.egifter.com/giftcards/

Only BTC and LTC can do this.

As long as LTC has this much utility it is not going anywhere.

...

ONLY WITH LITECOIN OR BITCOIN.

[sarc]So yeah its totally pointless LOL.  LTC have no point or usage obviously!!!!  R

Well, first off that article you speak of is a press release, as someone else already mentioned.

I'm not going to knock litecoin, but before getting too crazy over the fact a person can buy giftcards with litecoin and act like it's something super special --

1946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**52 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: June 17, 2014, 06:18:17 PM

All this talk about using an exchange to switch coins is confusing me  Huh

I probably shouldn't have brought up the subject in my previous post. I was just stating a personal preference based on how past coins did swapovers and such. If it's just a hard fork and all goes to plan, it would unlikely be needed.

Seems I accidentally spread confusing info just by posting a preference. Now I see how easy it is for evil people to spread fud, which of course wasn't my intention here. Sorry for any confusion.
1947  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 17, 2014, 05:15:06 PM

I have not stolen anything. BTC were given to me for my work on DCM and to help promote DCM. I brought in over 85 BTC from the 135 btc IPO through my investors and connections and all of them have seen profits. Only one is still holding coins, but they were free as he also realized profits from purchasing at the IPO and selling hours later!

I still promote DCM on a daily basis and I try to bring in new investors, but there is no volume on the exchanges so when they see this they decide not to invest.

Hate on me all you want, but I stole nothing and have made all my investors money!

I'm not quite sure why you still go on about 'promoting' DCM, as even if you do mention the coin, mentioning it in a negative way isn't exactly what I expect the ipo coin was for, nor does it count as promotion in any traditional sense.

A better way to say it may be, you feel you deserve the ipo money because you brought in a pump group during the ipo?

1948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 17, 2014, 05:26:09 AM

As of how the team's working right now, this is just not correct to me. How can we tell sufficient money's been spend and will be spend to important things, where's the proof ? The funds you put into your project should be PROPORTIONAL to the money you got from the IPO. Otherwise this is just a plain, silent scam. Put the greed aside, you have the funds to make this coin grow, and benefit together with the investors who made this all happen.

I'm not so keen on devs artificially inflating volume by just trading coin back and forth to themselves. What should they do, do that forever?

They could however increase multipool buys, maybe? And they should mine a lot themselves or rent machines with some of their ipo money and use that for mining. Doing it that way they are supporting the price, but not directly through fake volume or making a giant buy wall that could get ripped down.

As for proof of their vendor software and what they have planned for the money, I agree more clarity is needed there. They should outline exactly how they plan to spend the ipo money to support the coin, how much per project and a rough timetable. I'd also like to see how they plan for the marketplace to work, especially if coin volume is low. I offered an idea earlier on how Noblecoin handles it, but the devs here didn't mention their plan.
1949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ENRG]Energycoin - A project to save energy on: June 17, 2014, 04:25:52 AM
In case people weren't aware, Energycoin is now listed on Polo's voting page.

https://www.poloniex.com/voting

Only one vote per person, but on the plus side it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to vote. If the same sort of effort that has gone into MP voting goes into Polo voting, I expect the coin to shoot up pretty quickly.
1950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 17, 2014, 12:08:19 AM

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Truth be told, I'm a pretty bad trader. But I'm a good PM and software developer and have lots of real-life experience with eCommerce. Therefore my bet that it's possible to add substantial value to a coin long term by sticking to a real-world usage game plan.

Yeah, although in profit overall (basically no way I couldn't be, as I started with like nothing in crypto), my trading has been rather poor overall. I think my biggest problem with trading so far is knowing when to sell, and I won't even say not be too greedy, but just realize that other people will take short term gains over long term, most of the time.

My mistake has been thinking people will use sound judgement, and that if a coin is considered good one day, a random troll posting FUD the next day really shouldn't change anything. But it does. I think I basically have underestimated the power of stupid people.
1951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 16, 2014, 09:09:23 PM
I too have given up on chacing pumps.  The only way it can be the slightest bit successful, is if you're watching the market full-time.  It has to be a full time job.  For those of us that have full time jobs outside of crypto, this is near impossible.  I've decided on a few coins to hold for long term without worrying too much about it.

DCM was my higher risk decision.  Yes I'm down (and part of that the loss is pretty substantial), but I will continue to hold.  Not because I like getting beaten up, but because I believe in DCM and the dev team.

I've wondered how people even successfully chase pumps to begin with. Watching the polo trollbox is basically watching people jump from coin to coin, at the slightest bit of volume movement or whatever is 'in' at that very moment. But getting in on a pump after it already started is extremely risky... you have to know when to jump out, or you'll tumble down. Just wondering how people even do that correctly on a consistent basis. I think I'd find it way too stressful and time consuming.

Now, picking a coin before it pumps is another matter, and requires patience. Not that I am necessarily any good at choosing the correct coins pre-pump, but that makes more sense to me than jumping from coin to coin based on the latest fad or in the middle of a pump.
1952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 16, 2014, 08:39:33 PM

I can only speak for myself but I have given up on chasing pumps; for me (with my time constraints) it's a mission impossible. I do however believe that it's possible to add big value over the long run by executing on good plans. Look at Darkcoin for example; it was lingering for months at low levels with almost no volume and then shot up when they delivered. It's since come down again but it's still way up from what it was during those quiet months. I hope we can do the same with DCM.

We are keeping tabs on the price levels but I think the point AltcoinRambo made is a valid one. If the price goes down too low we'll step in and bring it back up but our focus is on long-term holders, not day traders, so we may let the price dip down to bad levels short term in order to make more efficient use of our buying power. Please also realize that we lost 22BTC with Bob's departure, so while we have funding it's not at the level we originally planned and we need to be smart about the way we use our money.

I have DRK, bought some when it was cheap, and was perfectly fine with the months of low volume. I actually sort of liked it, as the coin was relatively stable and those following the coin knew at some point it should go up.

The key to focus on is stability. People will hold for hope of a greater payoff, if the coin is somewhat stable in price. I didn't have to worry about checking the exchange and seeing DRK went down 80% that day... even when they had their dumping issue with stolen coins, people still gobbled them up.

So just don't pick a buy in point to step in at that is too low. Again, investors can be finicky... to be honest, I thought 5-6K would be around your support line (or around where it is now). The difference between DRK and DCM is those stable DRK months were still above most people's buy-in point, as DRK was once insanely cheap. Asking people to hold at a major loss needs the hope of a rather big payoff at the end... and people will only accept so much of a loss.
1953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 16, 2014, 08:05:46 PM

From their actions so far, my guess is that they can be trusted to do the right thing for the coin for the "long-term" holders. If day traders are selling at a loss, that is a different issue and from the statements issued by the devs it seems that protecting day traders is not their primary focus while protecting investors is (at least I hope so, I'm holding my DCM for the long run).

I do think the devs will protect folks from a catastrophic price drop. And probably whomever gets any dumped coins will benefit longterm.

The thing is, everyone has a different definition of 'catastrophic'. To those who bought in at 20-30K, they are already at catastrophic levels. I think the coin needs to stabilize around 8-12K to be considered somewhat safe from a downward spiral ... maybe it'll get there, but I hope the devs are keeping tabs on the price. If it levels out at 4K or so (outside of dumping), it may just slowly sink from there as investors panic.

-------

And nice about Polo... a lot of people have voted I see.
1954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**52 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: June 16, 2014, 06:17:26 PM
I haven't kept track of Noble goings on lately, and just checked in now... see the coin is going POS... interesting, and probably a good idea.

My preference for the POS change would be to use an exchange or two for the swapover, rather than rely on wallets. I think a lot of people are lazy (and probably myself too), so would rather an exchange just handle all of that stuff for them.

Couple of questions:

Is that partner coin thing still going to happen? I recall the idea was for POS (and various flavor) coins to be made as partner coins to Noble, allowing swaps or given free to Noble holders. That still in the works?

Marketplace discount up to 30% still planned?

And as for Noble itself, I think the goal shouldn't necessarily be big returns, or to raise the price to some insane level, but simply look for stability. At whatever price it gets to (hopefully more than it currently is), all you need is for the coin to remain relatively stable. That way people can focus on the marketplace and use the coin as an actual currency. If a crypto has wild swings, nobody will want to spend it. Nobody wants to buy some item using crypto and find out 2 weeks from now they just spent 10x more than they should have. The more stable a coin is, the more likely people will use it at the marketplace.

1955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 16, 2014, 05:56:24 PM

Ofcourse, the average volume has been under 2 btc for the past 2 days, there wasn't even the slightest dump. I am not worried about his actions, supposing he has the brains to (eventually) see he's not getting any revenge doing the things he's talking about. The only thing i worry about, is the involvement of the team on the market. They made an enormous amount of money on 1 day, they could easily help the volume & price set to above IPO price. But i'm not critisizing, just hope to see some more action (like in other crypto's). I suppose most work done right now is behind the scene !

Keep in mind that he said he was slowly dumping. 10K DCM at a time may have been like .5 btc. Bob must of course realize that 100K (or however many he and his friend has) would bring in a bigger return if the orders are spread out.

So he could be dumping slowly in increments, then waiting for the market to recover before repeating.

One odd thing I have noticed about the market is that outside of multipool buys (at least assume it was multipool), there barely has been any movement at all for rather long periods of time. Those who bought over ipo levels obviously don't want to sell at this price, so basically we are seeing small sales based on dumps + those who buy dumps, then resell for a profit at still below ipo prices.

Which brings me back to one of my initial concerns regarding DCM. The devs are working on a time scale that most crypto people probably aren't the most comfortable with. They have attention spans that last in days, not weeks or months. They should use some of that IPO money to add shortterm value to the coin, be that some buy support, mobile wallets, special coin features, more exchanges... something. Just showing screenshots of a marketplace that may be two months away isn't going to assure investors a whole lot (in my opinion). And that assumes investors even care about crypto marketplaces. I think they are important, but get the feeling that the majority of crypto people here care less about actually using a coin as a currency.

So looks like this coin is dead now?
I don't know what is the purpose of this post, but it really got me very curious.
What is that you saw that lead you to that conclusion?

A sharp drop in the price. It was 10x higher when I checked the other day.

Also curious about the price. Just one of those weird things, or any particular reason for the drop?

Nice attempt to blackmail me.  My threads all comply with Bitcointalk rules. Thank u very much for ur message albeit somewhat useless.

Huh? Blackmail?

It was more a request for you to stick to one thread... spam as much as you want there, but maybe no need to make new threads seemingly everyday?
1958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I Love <<NEM>> New Economy Movement and U should too! on: June 15, 2014, 06:14:07 PM
This forum can be so weird sometimes.

People have been banned for spamming giveaway threads, usually due to benign reasons (like simply posting to get some freebie).

Yet we have this guy who starts multiple threads, is clearly trolling/spamming, has an agenda, or has some mental issues... yet it gets ignored by the moderators. He is also clearly a scammer, as he admits scamming right here.

One or two threads on these NEM subjects is more than enough. No need to start a new one every single day, then go into weird split personality mode. And bragging about cheating people by making sockpuppet accounts probably isn't something to be proud of.
1959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 15, 2014, 06:06:54 PM

Problem is that you can only vote once on Polo ... if you haven't yet, please vote on Poloniex. We're sort of getting outvoted by the "now-hot" coins but we'll get there in the end.

Yeah, I noticed that. It is sort of a weird setup. I'd think Polo could achieve the same goal by simply looking at Bittrex' volume and picking the coins themselves.

Places like swisscex and a couple of smaller exchanges might want to be considered too, just for small arbitrage trades. It may help volume a little bit. Is there much support for that multipool thing? I haven't seen a lot of buy support the past day or so... usually the multipool kicks in some volume (or at least I assume it was the reason).

we need setup some bounties for the vote on MP,

lot of ppl on MP do not have DCM, so they do not vote for DCM,

Poloniex would be a much more achievable goal. They have voting now too.
