1081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] QIBUCK COIN - X13 - POS/POBH - 1st Proof of Baghold and asset backed. on: October 03, 2014, 11:04:38 PM
I'm concerned. I'm going to sell my coins. If all this coins do to promise profit is mining and trading other coins then there is no future in qbk. I'm sorry, but this is too much of a gamble for me.
What if they have a bad day or week or month of trading, then there will be no profits for the investors but I bet the core team will still get paid.

This is a ponzi scheme. It's using future traders to buy into this coin. It's like what this crook Bernie Madoff did...
Good bye group. Nice knowing you and good luck to the rest of you.

I'm not so sure you really understand what a ponzi scheme is.

Profit is gained outside of qbk itself, so whether new investors come into qbk or not, it shouldn't necessarily matter. Of course it may not always be profit every month... but again, that doesn't make it a ponzi scheme.

When is the deadline this month for dividends, around the 10th? I kept most of my qbk in my wallet, but have some spare on polo that I should eventually move back for the dividend.

I also assume that if we are receiving qbk back, we basically need to do nothing at all? Only btc people need to resubmit info?

I'm not dumping anything. All I did on the market - bought back. That whole mess amazes and scares me.
There is no "friends" who dump, there is none of my BTCs in ICO. People really are dumping with 50% loss...

I can't speak for others, but my comments were meant more as hypothetical reasons for the price -- not meaning that you were definitely dumping, just that it's one of several scenarios. If you look back, I also mentioned whales pushing the price down, so they can feast cheaply, as another reason.

Or people being unusually skittish and dumping at a loss of course is another. Although I never quite get that mindset myself. Sometimes when we see that, it's just a prelude to whales eating.

We'll see eventually. If whales eat, they later will pump the price. If it's just folks dumping, you just need to keep chugging along and wait it out until they finish. I believe someone else already mentioned QBK as an example. No need for a buy wall. Just wait out the dumps, then slowly accumulate upwards and form a stability fund using a small portion of ICO money.

Or the dev and friends are selling their free coins at 100% profit no matter what the price is.  Now i am not saying this is the case here.

Yes. that too. I did include 'dev dumping' as another possible reason.

Although a smart dev doesn't usually dump like this, at least not unless his plan is to buy back coins cheaply.  Typically a dev would dump after the coin gets pumped somewhat. And then it's much better to slowly dump over time, especially as new coin stuff is released or promised (doesn't even have to do anything, just act like something is in development) ... better price overall.

1085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRAIG] CraigsCoin | CLASSIFIED ADS ON BLOCKCHAIN 5+ POD BITTREX, CRYPTSY on: October 03, 2014, 03:13:56 AM
holy shit
holy shit
i have never ever seen a coin dumped so fast
without something bad happening
the Dev is here
hes talking
hes working
what the fuck is wrong with people

It actually occurs quite often. And usually it's due to whales eating. Whenever I see a coin being pushed down for seemingly no reason, I wonder why ... and usually if you wait a week or so, you then see why.

I'm not saying that is the case here, as who knows. It could just be impatient ICO people. But when a coin dumps for seemingly no reason, it's usually either the dev dumping, or more likely whales pushing the price down to feast.

I'm assuming the devs are fixing the issues rather than communicating right now, but one thing to always remember in crypto (if you are the skeptical sort) ... delays/devs waiting to release info/problems can be quite profitable if handled correctly. For many coins, I've wondered if silence or problems were created by the devs themselves ... as the gloom and doom magically vanishes as the devs fix whatever the problem was and become more active in the forum.. price of course then recovers = nice profit.

I'm not saying that is the case here, but a simple temp. fix + dev announcement, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the price go back to its regular levels pretty quickly.

how much u make ?

I think it was around $5-$6 USD/Hr, but it reached a point of diminishing returns after around 1-2 hrs daily. Basically it's just a hunt for well paying university surveys, if you want to go the easy route. Some paid like $10 for 15 min of survey taking. Of course the well paying ones filled up quickly, so you had to watch the mturk forum (sort of like watching this forum), for the best tasks to do.

If you went the simple click route, or stuff like filling out data, it paid much less ... like maybe $2/hr. I didn't have the patience to do those, but for people in certain countries, even that rate may not seem so bad, considering it's at-home work.

You won't get rich from it, but I did it for a couple of months and made around 1K USD. Again, probably better than anyone will get from btc faucets. If any US people do it, just remember that you will have to claim it on your taxes. I see they are still around too -- https://www.mturk.com/mturk/welcome
I may check them out again one day whenever I have free time. It's a good way to get freebie amazon credit right before xmas ... then use that to buy gifts with. Curious if their pay rates are the same as they were years ago.

Faucets offer satoshi FOR NO COST.  Just a click or two.  It isnt a way to get rich, but it is still SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.

Something for nothing is way more than 100% short term profit.  I could make as much as 250,000 sats a day, but I have a life.

Yep yep... and not saying anyone shouldn't use faucets if they don't want to.

Just saying that if you want something for nothing (besides time), go to mturk, take a survey, or do some of their simple click tasks, and you'll get more much more profit than the btc faucets will give out. Assuming it still exists. I did it one year for some spare xmas money, but that was years ago.

BTC faucets offer quick and riskless 100%+ gains..  See link below for Land of Bitcoin.  I cruise faucets and make about 20000 satoshi an hour.

I tried that when I first started in crypto ... it's sort of a very painful way to earn btc crumbs, to be honest.

You are probably better off just looking for arbitrage trades between exchanges. Or if Amazon still does it, just do mturk for an hour, and then use that money to buy btc. Boring and repetitive, and paying 3rd world wages ... but it's a lot more than 20K sats/hour.
1090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Final [BOOLBERRY] Rebrand Vote - Ends Sept. 30th on: September 30, 2014, 01:31:37 AM
I'd go with Aureum, and not because I particularly like the name. Just because I think Boolberry is one of the most ridiculous sounding names for any crypto out there.

I also question whether polls like this even make sense really. Those who own BBR and are interested in the coin are probably the only ones voting to begin with. You are basically holding an insular vote amongst a very niche group of people, where this group already owns the coin. Those you would want to vote are those who have dismissed Boolberry, either due to the name or some or factor. Which of course would be basically impossible, and is why most devs just come up with a decent name from the beginning and go with that ... not all of this endless contest/voting stuff.

1092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCX has killed numerous coins before, get your stuff out of Monero... NOW! on: September 26, 2014, 12:27:53 AM
He killed off Aurora coin, used to be the #2 crypto.  BCX is merciless.

To be fair, the airdrop killed off Aurora. The airdrop model itself.

He did rile things up and did the timewarp thing, which in the end made the coin stronger due to devs then fixing the flaw. But that's not what killed off the coin. It would have died off regardless.
1093  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] QIBUCK COIN - X13 - POS/POBH - 1st Proof of Baghold and asset backed. on: September 23, 2014, 12:35:26 AM

but the majority of that was a donation from JT I believe and he requested that it be share equally between bagholders , but qiwoman2 could clarify that

Then it'd make more sense. As a one time thing, it's fine. Or even if it happens once in a while (sure nobody here would turn down free donated coins).

It's just if that is the setup each month, based on exchange coins only, it becomes abusable.
1094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] QIBUCK COIN - X13 - POS/POBH - 1st Proof of Baghold and asset backed. on: September 22, 2014, 08:13:45 PM

I was under the impression that all exchange (Poloniex) coins would not be counted for the bagholder payouts.  and the payouts were going to be based on the percentage of coins held.

I noticed this in the first month, and hoped it was just an over site on your part since this was all new.  But someone holding 100 coins got an additional 37.59 coins.  That's 37.59% profit.  Someone holding 10,000 coins got 37.59 coins.  That's a .03759 % profit.

There should only be one percentage based dividend payout.  It does not include any Poloniex coins.    If you were doing 2 payments because it's easier to do, let me know.  I can show you how to calculate the whole thing start to finish in about 20-30 minutes.  That doesn't include sending coins.

I assumed that was a one month thing just until they get organized a bit better, but I agree. The 2nd payout should not be a flat rate like it is across the board. I believe they did it that way too to give little fish a larger bonus, but it is too large really, percentage-wise, as you pointed out.

They should either do a percentage as one dividend, or if they want to go the 2nd dividend route, perhaps just weight it instead of a flat scale. So little fish could still get a little more than they normally would, but not 37% or so profit. At a flat rate, that also could create greedy little fish ... meaning someone figures out if they make 50 or so small wallets, they will get more than one big wallet, based on that 2nd dividend flat rate.

The easiest way to go is just the simple percentage, minus exchanges + whale cap as one dividend.
1095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Checkcoin] Explore the world using Crypto! [POW PHASE STARTED] on: September 22, 2014, 02:57:45 AM
is so low right now

Ya seriously.  Are these just miners dumping?

probably not, since mining this coin offers no rewards til block 8,000 so , that leaves ICO buyers only. and dev team are the only ones that have any of these coins. your guess from those 2 are as good as it gets. but it does narrow the field down some.

Yeah, too early for miners.

I expect it's most likely just impatient ICO people, or people who received dumps earlier, so if they sell below ICO prices, they could still be making a profit. Or... well... the 2nd option listed by the poster above.

My concern with this coin was the long delay between release and having a working system. If people are impatient already, it could be problematic. Unless whales are just eating now, that is, then a pump will occur in the near future.

I only have some crumbs of this, which I got for free with some minor arbitrage trades between c-cex/bter, so don't stand to lose or gain a whole lot either way. I like the idea behind the coin, just not sure if the price will remain stable until the system actually works.
1096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: September 22, 2014, 02:50:00 AM
If we're not trying to appeal to the mainstream, why bother changing Boolberry's name anyway? People who want anonymity won't care what it's called.

Boolberry isn't that bad anyways.

Better than Rune.

Cipher sounds good though

Cipher actually does sound pretty good.

I have never been particularly fond of boolberry as a name. In fact, I think it is one of the most ridiculous sounding names of any crypto. I also don't quite see why there is an aversion to using -coin/note/whatever after the coin name either. CipherNote ... BooleanNote... <pretty much anything at all>coin/note, sounds better than Boolberry does.
1097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] OFFICIAL VOTE for Boolberry (BBR) Renaming/Rebranding! on: September 18, 2014, 05:59:58 PM
I dont understand everyone wanting to go for Rune or Vortex as a name. Its like someone just came from playing a session of Mortal Kombat and decided to grab a few words out of the playing manual.

Im going to vote for "Secore"

I'm not crazy about any of these new names, although I do think they are better than Boolberry, which was better suited as the name of a cereal.

Secore reminds me of Secor Laxatives (brand used in MadMen).

So out of what is left, I guess I'd choose Rune. Not great, but not completely ridiculous either.
1098  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: UNITY Crypto Currency Coming SOON on: September 17, 2014, 06:35:55 PM

Well at this point you don't even have anything to release.  You obviously just wanted to make an ANN so you could use the Unity name.  If this is lots of long and thought out work then why isn't anything done.

You suck.  Scammer

The somewhat amusing thing is in their announcement they state, 'Under development for Months'. Yet they can't provide any details at all regarding their crypto, besides a name.

Of course the purpose of stating they were in development for months is so they could claim it was their idea before Unity/Token was released.

It's like a dev stating: Ethereum256, in development for 1 year! Disregard any other Ethereums, as we were the first.

It's nonsense.
1099  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GB] $ GreenBacks $ ~ A Complete Currency & Infrastructure ~ LAUNCHED on: September 17, 2014, 06:18:16 PM
We are still holding over 200k coins since ICO as we applied for top Tier rewards position. How are developments going any good? Why has the price plummeted? I thought with all the developments it would be a stable coin.

The coin was obviously pumped early on.  After that, a plummet of some sort had to be expected. I expect a lot of ICO people sold at least some of their coins then, perhaps some bought back in at a lower price (I did to a lesser degree), some just walked away.

Most of the developments added to the coin so far have nothing at all to do with their marketplace. Their reward system + marketplace would be the selling point to this coin, and major price fluctuations makes their reward system sort of moot, as it only works with a stable price.

I don't think the coin will rise until they start showing some marketplace stuff and get closer to its release. There is also a real danger that if the marketplace isn't super fancy, folks won't simply care. There are plenty of other coins with working marketplaces already. So it's got to be a nice one.
1100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GB] $ GreenBacks $ ~ A Complete Currency & Infrastructure ~ LAUNCHED on: September 17, 2014, 05:35:41 AM
In regards to the price and volume; we are doing everything we said we would, and more. It seems most people just don't care though when a project is actually doing developments, they move on to the next coin for a "pump". Update on Accelerator will come out tomorrow, and we are working on getting an update for the 3 new wallets we are making: mobile, web, and electrum. A couple people have said we should do giveaways, we've done those on twitter and cross-promoting on other coins. One person suggested hiring PR, this is something we could very possibly look into. Activity in the thread is slowing done, we need you guys to pick it up if you really want to be a part of GB. Thank you to everyone who has supported throughout.

Something you may not wish to hear, but what it really comes down to (beyond the fact the coin was pumped initially) is the marketplace.

The coin will live or die based on how well your marketplace works. And that even assumes people care about crypto marketplaces in the first place. It didn't exactly do NobleCoin a lot of good so far, and they probably have one of the better marketplaces out there.

A nice marketplace, with rewards set up properly, and the coin price should rise. People would buy coins + hold to gain rewards, to get free goodies.

Accelerator is fine, new wallets are good too... ideally they'll at least keep the price stable. There is no guarantee of course that folks will care, however, until the marketplace stuff is working.

What I'd suggest is you start mentioning what vendors you have set up and what items will definitely be available ... I mean specifically, not vague 'giftcards' or 'electronics'. Also mention the exact rewards for holding greenbacks and what they can get a person each month, and so on. Screenshots of how the marketplace will look would help too. You are supposedly about 3 weeks from the marketplace opening... you must have some screenshots, I'd assume, of a beta version, or something similar.
