1941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: E-Bay Sellers Beward : Scammer Buying GPUs on: June 29, 2017, 12:29:07 PM
Hey guys,

I sold off some extra GPUs I ended up not using on E-Bay.

One of the items sold to a user wishing to use a different address -- since it was sent within the E-Bay message system I went ahead & shipped as requested.

The next day I got a message from that account saying they were hacked & did not order the item.

So I refunded it and still had time to have FedEx bring the card back to me.

Two days later... another user name ordered a card asking to ship to the SAME different address from what was on their account.

In any event... this is the address / name that was used in both cases :

Jean Burakowski 154 s. Huxley dr, Cheektowaga NY 14225

Both times the message read *exactly* like this :

"Hello, probably you found 2 shipping addresses in order details.
So, here is a correct Jean Burakowski 154 s. Huxley dr, Cheektowaga NY 14225
I had tried to change my address, but here was some error, now It have 2 addresses. So, just letting you know.

Regards"

Figured I would share in case others are selling GPUs on E-Bay.

Always ship to the address listed with the PayPal payment, no matter what messages the buyer sends you and ALWAYS use signature confirmation for items over $250. That is the only way that you will be covered by PayPal seller protection if the buyer claims he didn't receive it or account fraud.  If the buyer wants an item shipped to a different address than what's listed in the payment details, you should refund the payment, cancel the auction and have the buyer purchase it again with the correct address he wants it shipped to.
1942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Do you have to swich to gen1 in bios for risers? on: June 29, 2017, 12:12:44 PM
It depends on the motherboard and how many cards you have. You should use the highest PCI-E  setting that is compatible with board. With multiple cards using all the PCI-E slots, some boards will only work if it's set to GEN1 or GEN2.
1943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Really need some help with AMD card modding on: June 29, 2017, 12:07:20 PM
That's correct, you need to patch the driver with the pixel patcher to bypass the signature check with a modded bios. Once the card shows up in Device Manager without errors, you can overclock and undervot it using Afterburner before starting the miner. Somewhere around 1150 MHz for the core clock and 2075 MHz for the memory clock with a -98 mV undervolt should get you to 28 MH/s.

Hi, the only driver install that I have done is to install the latest AMD driver a couple of days ago when building the rig. After this I had modded the card and  the patcher works so that I can see the card but still no change in the hash rate. Do I need to reinstall the drivers for each card when I mod it?

If you have cards with a modded Bios, you need to use the pixel patcher any time there is a driver update, after adding a card or changing the Bios. If the card is still not recognized in Device Manager, uninstall the drivers in safe mode using DDU, reinstall the driver and apply the pixel patcher.

Ok still no luck and here is exactly what I have done. I have 2 cards installed so I can compare.

1. Downloaded mod from here https://anorak.tech/c/downloads/sapphire
2. Flashed 1 card bios with the rom.
3. Used DDU to remove the drivers.
4. Installed latest AMD Drivers.
5. Used the patcher to patch the AMD driver.
6. Restarted the machine and the card with the mod is accepted.
7. Opened Claymore miner and still showing both cards at 22mhs.

I have even tweaked the settings with Afterburner and the hash rate goes down!

Sad Really frustrating.

Using a modded rom from someone else is not a good idea. It's always safest to do the Bios patch yourself using your original Bios. That way you know the Bios came from the card and is not renamed wrong or incompatible with the card. If you saved the original Bios, which you should always do, mod the original after you save a copy using this guide depending on the memory type the card has:

I think this is not safe.I tell you.Gpu is not working for the lifetime.
So, how often we should OC and for how many hours or days?

I OC all my cards daily and twice on Sundays. Cheesy

That's correct, you need to patch the driver with the pixel patcher to bypass the signature check with a modded bios. The Bios info will not change in GPU-Z. Once the card shows up in Device Manager without errors, you can overclock and undervot it using Afterburner before starting the miner. Somewhere around 1150 MHz for the core clock and 2075 MHz for the memory clock with a -98 mV undervolt should get you to 28 MH/s. Also use HWinfo to check for memory errors once you overclock it.
1947  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070 + 570 in one Rig Problem on: June 29, 2017, 08:25:21 AM
somehow i managed it dont ask me how i finally did it.
I used DDU several times to get that running..

I think in the end i installed amd driver first and after the nvidia driver.
Device manager shows me all cards:
http://imgur.com/a/oe4UN

But I cant read any temps, cant overclock, fan control etc.

You need to plug a monitor or dummy plug in the AMD card for the AMD driver to be able to read and set the temperature and fans.
1948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070 + 570 in one Rig Problem on: June 29, 2017, 08:19:31 AM
Ah well it's possible to do that? Mix nvidia and amd?

How do you do for the driver? Do you install driver amd + nvidia?

Yes, you need to install both drivers.
1949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070 + 570 in one Rig Problem on: June 29, 2017, 08:18:20 AM
Check Device Manager and see if the card is listed and without errors. If you modded the Bios you need to patch the signature check.

4GB cards are in-stock at Newegg and have a 6-month warranty:

SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 470 11256-21-21G 4GB GDDR5 PCI-E (UEFI) (Built with Non Samsung Memory) - $249.99

SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 470 11256-31-21G 4GB GDDR5 PCI-E (UEFI) (Built with Samsung Memory) Brown Box Version - OEM - $259.99

Just saw these doing my daily newegg check, and HOLY SHIT the pricing is insane.  480s were $50 cheaper less than 3 months ago and I got a 580 8gb card earlier this year for the same price.  They also are limited to ONE per person.  I feel bad for anyone that buys into these.

Overpriced, yes. But not as bad as paying $350+ for esssentially the same card on eBay USED and with NO warranty.
1951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Please help with strix rx 480 8G hash rate on: June 29, 2017, 03:44:08 AM
You have to check what type of memory the card has with GPU-Z. The straps you need to copy depend on the type of memory it has. If it's Samsung memory, use the 1750 MHz timing strap for the Bios mod and 1150 MHz on the core with 2075 MHz on the memory clock should get you 28+ MH/s. Also use HWinfo to see if the card has memory errors after you overclock it.
1952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can older Bitcoin mining equipment be used efficiently on altcoins? on: June 29, 2017, 03:15:52 AM
You should be able to mine any coin that uses the same SHA-256d algorithm as BTC such as Namecoin or Peercoin.
1953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Vega frontier released! on: June 29, 2017, 03:08:14 AM

You could get four of the mining cards and get 110+ MH/s for the same price. The workstation cards are never good for mining. Better to wait for the gaming version which will be cheaper.
1954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rx 580 suddenly dropped to 4mh/s on: June 29, 2017, 01:56:45 AM
Sounds like a thread stuck in the card. Try reinstalling the drivers after removing the driver in safe mode mode using DDU. You could also try uninstalling Afterburner and installing the latest version to see if it helps.

Time to put cards on the table. Bits be trippin did not come up with a video

Relax, he has a lot going on. Last night BBT did an excellent presentation and overview on the state of Crypto and insights of where POW mining is going. Highly worth watching even if you're not new to Crypto. He will do another video today or tomorrow that focuses on mining.

Actually the latest mining malware targets always on IOT devices such as routers, DVR's, IP cameras, etc. Usually it's more profitable for criminals to employ such devices in DDOS attacks though.
1959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Difficulty Statistics on: June 28, 2017, 03:08:55 PM
Fellow miners,

if you would be interested in sharing your collective hash rate along w/ specified coin, I was hoping to maybe get a stronger gauge on the growing difficulty over time with the different coins everyone is mining..

A lot of talk in the recent weeks about declining ROI and growing difficulty but I have yet to see the effects on my mining rate..

Currently using Dwarfpool:
I'm operating at ~550mh/s directed all towards ETH.
24 hour return; consistently around .23-.24
USD 24 Hour return: ~60.00
Receiving .5 payouts every ~4 days

will update weekly for the next month.
Any and all shares of difficulty/mining rate statistics greatly appreciated

Hi mate,

The difficulty bomb will inevitably kill profitability at some point. As it gets more difficult, you will mine less ETH/day, but, if the ETH price continues to grow, profitability in FIAT will grow with it. So at some point you'll be making 0.10ETHs a day, but if 1ETH is worth 600USD by then, you'll still get the same profitability. I've seen my daily ETH fall very fast, even with 800mh/s. I'd be at 0.35ETHs a day currently, it was 0.5 not 2 weeks ago.

The second thing that will likely kill your ROI though, is the upcoming epoch. I don't know what you're mining with, but if you have 4GB cards, you will soon see a quite drastic fall of your hashrate. Afaik, there is no workaround for this except having cards with larger memory.

That is not true. The Dag won't be even close to 4GB until 2019. If you are referring to the hash drop from the Claymore benchmark figures from epoch 150+, the hash drop affects 4GB and 8GB cards almost equally, roughly ~10% from epoch 150+ and progressively thereafter. There are also conflicting reports as to whether the issue is with the Claymore miner and if other miners, like SGminer are affected. Apparently AMD is also aware of the issue and are talking with Claymore about it.
1960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.6 (Windows/Linux) on: June 28, 2017, 01:19:30 PM
Can anyone confirm that DAG slowdown will also affect 5xx series?

As it it right now, the Claymore miner epoch benchmarks show a rather significant ~10% drop after epoch 150 for the Polaris cards and progressively increasing after that. There are conflicting reports as to whether the issue is with the Claymore miner and if other miners, like SGminer are affected. Apparently AMD is also aware of the issue and are talking with Claymore about it.

Yes but I asked about 5xx series only Wink

The RX 4XX and 5XX are essentially the same cards and both show they are affected by the Claymore benchmarks.
