*grins* I hope I am not revealing your prank, but you'll scare the shit out of him when he notices that his wallet is empty when he points to a new (and initially empty) data directory !
It wasn't meant to be a prank.

You can't use bitcoin-qt as a RPC client.

I think Batch 3 customers would love to be thrown a bone. I think the idea of all 3 module purchases getting upgraded to 4 modules is a great idea. It is a solution that doesn't cost Bitsyncom very much (if Hashtech can build them with chip orders for 9BTC, I would guess at most 3BTC per module for Bitsyncom to produce them). This also has the advantage of making the assembly process uniform (just like Batch 1 and 2 were only 3 modules).
If that approach is taken, the obvious solution for 4 module customers is to have their price refunded down to 3 module price (i.e. 76BTC - if purchased with a powersupply) per unit. However... that is a more expensive proposition... as that is real BTC being refunded. Maybe something could be arranged with store credit... though I doubt that will be as popular, but won't be as expense for Bitsyncom.
My guess is that all Batch 3 customers would prefer and be happy with this solution rather than putting in a refund request for the whole amount. This at least I think give batch 3 customers the belief that they have a chance for some level of return on investment.
wishful thinking, but would never happen. the max batch 3 will get is chip credits worth 3 BTC.

I have not seen this behavior with bitcoind 0.8.2 on another machine that runs Linux. Has anyone else experienced this?
I was not able to replicate with a VMWare machine (40 GB storage). Does the problem only occur with the SSD, or does it happen on other drives as well? Try using "-datadir=D:\bitcointemp" command line option to set the data directory to another drive.

I think UK guys should be ok with PSUs, I've ordered from overseas items with power sources both internal and external without an issue due to the PSU. There were monster delays however, but that occurs with every high ticket item in the UK and it's due to additional money theft from HRMC pulling out duty fees as and when they like from their witch's hat.
It was Canadian customers if I remember right, that had issues with PSUs on this forum...
uh oh, I'm Canadian

that GPU have one center fan. There are many reviews out there saying that design is the worst ever. Good luck trying to cool it.
I have a 7950 with a 1 fan design and there is no problem with cooling. I also have a 7850 with 2 fan design and it has problems with overheating. You can't make a sweeping claim saying a single-fan design is the worst ever. And please don't try to appear all holy and mighty by saying "good luck trying to cool it." he was referring to that specific one fan design.

Since laws may be passed to render Bitcoin a "currency" and require everyone who transmits it to become registered with the IRS and so on[...]
How would they be enforced? It's the same as anti money laundering regulations. They can try to prevent cash from being used to by illegal goods, but it's impossible to enforce.

Other: the need to run a node. It eats up bandwidth and cpu power. Plus you need high bandwidth and good connectivity to get low stales/DOA. Sure, you can use a p2pool node, but they're not as "trusted" as most pools.

I've heard very little about KNC. Are they using 28nm FPGAs, and then selling hardcopys later next year? How do we know they're 100% legit? When I first heard about them, I thought they were another BitcoinTalk-scam-of-the-week.
>make up ASIC >promise next gen performance at lower price >get hype (like special 'golden ticket' wait list) >??? >profit! If you thought BFL was bad, wait until you see KNC.

ITT: people who don't realize Avalon batch 3 has guaranteed ROI thanks to refund policy. You don't think they're going to make ROI? Go for a refund and get instant break-even. If Avalon Batch3 is approaching "NO ROI" you would think folks would opt for the refund that Yifu is offering. So far as I know, NO ONE has taken him up on this offer (maybe B1-er anti76... but it doesn't look like it).
People are often delusional or simply don't do the maths. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_pleading
