Hopefully a billion dollars each. Cheesy

I'll take a guess at 5k by this time next year. 2014 is gonna be exciting for Bitcoin for sure.

i've heard some stories where the postal service will send an undercover agent and ask for your signature.. that's how the prove it, apparently.

Even if we give our signature, we can claim that we have no idea about the contents in the package. Can't we?

i don't know.. you have something in signature that you are accepting the goods. here's a discussion on reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/SilkRoad/comments/1b4e3l/

I'm no expert in American Law, but I don't see how that could or even should stand up in court. When a postman comes to my door and asks me to sign something - whether it's for me or my family - I do without question (as probably most people do). Refusing to sign for a package seems more suspicious to me.

Here's a tip kids, dogs can smell through ANYTHING that is vacuum-sealed.  None of the tricks that you've heard people using work, no matter how bizarre or layered they may be.  If you triple vacuum-seal an ounce of weed, vapors permeate through all layers of the seal within 15 minutes.  After that time frame, it is easily detected by a canine.  Vacuum-sealed objects are always vapor permeable.  That's why dogs can smell vacuum-sealed drugs submerged in a full gas tank in an SUV.  There's only one type of easily obtained packaging I'm aware of that is not vapor permeable after any length of time.  They are something called Moisture Barrier Bags or MBB for short.  Most people have seen them being used as anti-static bags for sensitive electrical components.  This same material, when sealed correctly, will prevent any cargo it contains from being detected by the nose of a canine.  These bags are expensive and are hard to buy in quantity, but if you're a cartel who smuggles money in vehicles over the border back to Mexico, it's a worthwhile investment.  I wonder when they will realize that they need to stop vacuum-sealing their $$$ unless they plan on burying it.

I think the vacuum packing is more to mask the smell from humans. As you mentioned, it's very rare that domestic mail will be sniffed by drugs dogs, so all you need to do is make it "stealth" from human detection. As a general rule I'd avoid ever buying anything that is not shipped from your own mainland.

Smart guy,

Buy photo, get refund, sell story for a few grand = profit..

Seller should have posted a package with nothing in it and claimed it was stolen.
Dude I haven't thought abou that yet =)) so in the end he's not that stupid huh Smiley)

He made a video that was seen all around the world and uses the word "Quid"  the guys is thick as shit.

What's wrong with saying quid? It's just like saying 'bucks' or 'greenbacks' or whatever.
19404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If confirmation takes 10 minutes, how will I buy coffee at Starbucks? on: December 12, 2013, 12:35:01 PM
For small purchases, you don't really have to wait for a confirmation.  You just need to make sure the transaction appears on the network.  If there are any losses, they can be written off as a cost of doing business or treated as theft.  The chances of double-spending for a cup of coffee are less than the chance of someone walking out on a restaurant bill.

are there any services out there that offer insurance for this?

cionbase and bitpay are the main ones right now. i've yet to run into a store that accepts bitcoin that doesnt use one of tehse two companies to handle their bitcoin transactions. just like credit card companies are able to cover losses due to the fee's the charge merchants ,  bitpay and coinbase are able to cover losses because of the 1% flat fee they charge merchants for all transactions.

i think it's one of the biggest advancements in the bitcoin industry recently that not many pepole have talked about. the fact that people are able to and ARE making instant purchases at stores without having to wait for conformations. it's truly a great thing.

Yeah, the double spend isn't really a big issue. There will be some way that merchants are covered by whatever Bitcoin Processor they choose to use.

19407  Economy / Services / Re: Need an item from the UK? I'll buy it, ship it, then you pay for it! [Worldwide] on: December 12, 2013, 11:53:47 AM
Are pork scratchings not available in the US, or is it just the Mr Porky ones that aren't?

They probably are, but its like comparing a microwave pizza from frozen to a fresh pizza made with a stone oven in Italy.

It's really down to personal preference, but pork scratchings in the UK are so tasty!

I dunno, they all kinda look and taste the same to me. And pizzas in Italy are shit. Biggest disappointment of my life haha.
19408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Max Keiser Piss Anyone Else Off? on: December 12, 2013, 11:49:53 AM
Yeah he's a pain.

Russia Today are also lame. They have such an obvious anti-everything to do with the USA/UK stance it gets tiring.

But anybody with any sense should be anti-USA/UK.

haha what are you going to spend your sex coins on mate? Maybe a trip to amsterdam and a fun time? ;p

Enjoy!

I think you'd be better off with just Bitcoin for that to be honest. I reckon there'll be some coffeeshops accepting 'em soon.

i actually thought they could get pretty valueable as the sex industry is just about one of the biggest industrys existing out there. and if theres one thing people love to have when buying access to porn sites, or ordering something online, is anonymity. atleast thats my thought.a

Why wouldn't they just use Bitcoin instead? It's hardly that inconspicuous when you’re paying with something called sexcoin.
the main goal of bitcoins was to support drug/black market, so why dont have some for adult stuff.

That wasn't the main goal of Bitcoin at all. If the sex/porn industry was going to accept a coin I'd bet a bollock it would be Bitcoin. I don't see why the sex industry needs it's own coin and it just seems nothing more than a gimmick.

main goal was anonymity. what else do you think people want anonymity for if not for the black/drug market. do you think anyone gives a fuck about anonymity when buying a goerge foreman grill on amazon? no not really.

Wrong again. Its primary purpose was to be a decentralised open source peer-to-peer currency, some people just used it for black market activity, but that wasn't its purpose. And Bitcoin isn't even that anonymous, especially if you don't know what you're doing. Every transaction is recorded on the blockchain and can be traced straight back to you if you're not careful.

19414  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: General question: How do you know when to sell? on: December 11, 2013, 08:52:03 PM
How do you know when to sell?  Obviously you're shooting for the tip right before it starts to go down, but what are some of the signs to look for?  I've been trading for a little while now, and either sell way too early, or way too late. i didn't study economics, maybe that is my problem.

You can never predict the markets and there's no easy way to know when to sell, but the first principle is buy low and sell high; so just sell when you're happy with what you can get. If you're not; don't sell just yet. Nobody can give you a foolproof guide on how to play the markets, just learn from experience and have fun. Also only invest/gamble with what you can afford to lose.
19415  Other / Meta / Split from: [WTB] Bitcointalk accounts on: December 11, 2013, 08:34:04 PM
It's already incredibly difficult to trust people without having to wonder if somebody has just sold their account.
That seems to be his point, no? That since anyone could sell their account even if it wasn't openly tolerated here, that it should be difficult to trust people, so they might as well put it in plain view?

I disagree. I'd feel safer roaming a country that has bans on guns as opposed to one that lets anyone have one and buy them openly.
Even if you knew that whether there was a 'ban' or not, people would continue buying and selling guns, but it would just be 'criminals' doing so 'illegally', and you wouldn't actually be any more protected, you would just feel like you were? Hmm...

Not really. That was my point. Compare gun crime in the US to the UK. Of course there's a possibility that you can get shot in the UK, but the chance is very slim and doesn't compare to the chance in the states. Name me a school shooting that's happened over here? And of course banning something doesn't eradicate the sale or use, but it'll cut it down and make it more difficult to sell, but not doing anything about the sale is almost condoning / sanctioning it.

In my opinion letting sales be public will promote more selling of accounts, but obviously there's never going to be any figures or stats to prove either way, but it's my opinion that it would.

Shall we turn this place into a black market and sell drugs, weapons and porn as well since bans and prohibition don't work and people can just make these purchases here privately?

I disagree. I'd feel safer roaming a country that has bans on guns as opposed to one that lets anyone have one and buy them openly. I just don't think this forum should throw their hands up in the air about this and would be better if they banned the sale of accounts, but each to their own an' all that.

Guys, I think we all have the same views about this, but as mentioned above, it's too hard for the Mods to control.
I doubt a highly reputable member would sell their account before notifying anyone about it beforehand...

Well, not really. There have been so called reputable members who have turned out to be scammers. What's to stop you or I building up some rep and a year or twos worth of posting, deciding we've had enough then selling out to the highest bidder. We shouldn’t be allowed to sell our accounts and we definitely shouldn’t be allowed to advertise the fact, but again, just my opinion.

Haven't done it yet - waiting for the right moment haha.

i dont get it. what do you mean avatars dont work? i have an avatar.

You can't change it and newbs can't even upload or choose one. They were apparently disabled due to a security breach via them.

oh wow, now i wish i had put more thought into it Grin i just threw that one up there cuz it made me chuckle when i saw it.

I don't think it's a permanent thing, but there's no eta on when they'll be back.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2520818/DHL-tests-delivery-drone-airborne-robots-used-deliver-medicine.html

DHL is testing it as well. Also saw something about the USPS testing drone delivery too. Obviously a long way out, but I don't think its as crazy as some people seem to think.

They're probably just jumping on the free publicity train. I could see them maybe being used for Organ Transplants instead of helicopters or ambulances if they're faster, but I can't see 'em delivering single packages for Amazon and just leaving em in peoples' gardens to get rained on and stolen. I just can't see how this will work successfully at all, but I hope they prove me wrong.
