Rest in peace for that people, that were a big mistake, but what can we do now? We can only pray for them.

You can protest. People just shrugging their shoulders and saying "shit happens" or offering merely prayers aren't going to change anything. Stuff like this only happens because not enough people are outraged or even vaguely bothered by it. One pair of hands working or even one voice protesting can do more than millions of people just offering prayers. We hold the power to change things, not corrupt governments. Stop paying their wages for a start and see how long they work for free.

I see the future.. SR 2.0, 3.0, 4.5...etc DPR 2.0, 3.0, 4.0... it will never end.

This is true. The new DPR even claimed that if the site is ever taken down it'll be back up an running quickly, although obviously only time will tell on this. Hopefully these black market sites will force governments to consider legalisation and regulation. The war on drugs is futile and everybody with a gram of sense knows it.

A smart trader never invests all of his money in one single item. Go for 50% Quark, and rest for others.

May I ask where you heard this rumor?

Probably on this forum.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/12/12/us-yemen-strike-idUSBRE9BB10O20131212

(Reuters) - Fifteen people on their way to a wedding in Yemen were killed in an air strike after their party was mistaken for an al Qaeda convoy, local security officials said on Thursday.

Yet when a Muslim "terrorist" blows up a few Americans the entire country has a shitfit.

This isn't the first wedding party they've obliterated either: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wech_Baghtu_wedding_party_airstrike

19447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should I use Bitcoin instead of Paypal? on: December 12, 2013, 09:26:08 PM
Funny how everybody was saying PP is evil , PP is the root of all problems.
Then an interview appeared with David Marcus.
The whole board turned: Paypal is adopting bitcoin!  Yeah!!! To the moon!

This is both funny and sad to watch.

As much as I dislike paypal and its polices, if PP accepted Bitcoins it would be great for Bitcoin in general.

There was a definitely a guy who turned the whole operation over to him, to Ross Ulbricht.  Nothing is known about him really, only that he became wealthy very quickly and allowed Ulbricht to inherit the mantle of DPR, with all the risks it carries.  His writing style is much different from Ross'.  There's a pretty stark contrast in the writing styles of DPR when SR debuted and the DPR who started doing the announcements/site addresses a little over a year later, maybe 12-16 months later.  The first DPR conveyed a more thoughtful, philosophical, even a somewhat a more pacifist way of explaining SR's purpose and continued existence in the face of constant persecution.  He conveyed the characteristics of martyrdom to the cause without explicitly stating as much. Ross Ulbricht a DPR wasn't very subtle with the way he wrote, he was flashy and was constantly talking shit about other markets, about how SR was superior etc. This has been documented to some extend in the SR forums.  I haven't looked there recently for any updates, but I'd imagine there's been some developments since I checked it out last.   Does Ross know who DPR #1 is? It's hard to say.  If he does it'll come out during trial but he may have never even met this guy in person.

I don't think the original DPR has come out of retirement though.  I've paid attention to all the site addresses and announcements so far and the guy is not eloquent with the way he writes at all.  He seems a little stupid to me, his grammar sometimes isn't on point, it's really weird.  Sometimes what he writes sounds somewhat normal.  It seems like a third-party running the place to me, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

The change or writing styles could be on purpose though to fool authorities. When DPR was caught he had a Stylometry site bookmarked:

19449  Economy / Services / Re: Forum Posters Needed on: December 12, 2013, 08:25:45 PM
Starting to wonder how legitimate this offer really is since the OP hasn't replied in a couple of days.  No feedback usually means something is up if you ask me.  If anyone hears anything post it up so others can no the deal with this offer. thx

Most of these are scams just to get hits/activity. Very rare somebody pays out, that's why it's best to get the money out into a reputable escrow. Wouldn't waste my time otherwise.
19450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will I be able to use Bitcoins at the mall in 2014??? on: December 12, 2013, 08:18:16 PM
I hope we get some Bitcoin ATM machines here in the uk next year. That would really help promotion and legitimise it with the public.

I want to see an altcoin atm if that were to happen then everyone would realize how real this all is and more people would feel like they could establish their own bitcoin brands

Yeah, as long as we don't get sexcoin and bbqcoin ones Cheesy.

19456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I dream of a day where useless fiat is burned to create electricity for bitcoin on: December 12, 2013, 07:42:19 PM
I pray that day never comes. Don't get me wrong, I am a strong supporter of bitcoin, but having only one digital currency would be a very bad thing. The global economy thrives on having a multitude of currencys available at any given point in time. A single currency dominating the exchange would end up being a very bad thing. That is unless dollars/euros/etc go digital.

There doesn't have to be just one cryptocurrency for the world; there could be several. They could also coexist alongside fiat ones.
19457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FT article "Time to take the Bitcoin bubble seriously" on: December 12, 2013, 07:24:22 PM
Only cryptoplebs don't take it seriously yet. I'm sure they'll be wishing they'd've taken it seriously when/if it goes complete mainstream.
19458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good names for coins on: December 12, 2013, 07:15:52 PM
Why is it a joke?
A currency for porn only seems like a great idea, one of the problems of the porn industry is that buyers would like to stay anonymous and that's not possible with credit cards.

So they're gonna use a currency called Sexcoin instead? Hardly inconspicuous. The porn industry will just use Bitcoin if they need a crypto. I don't see why they have to have their own coin.
19459  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: December 12, 2013, 07:03:03 PM

What is the Doge coin acronym?

You mean what is its abbreviated name like BTC is for Bitcoin, or what is Doge an acronym of? If you mean the former I haven't seen one, but I think it might just be Doge haha.
19460  Other / Meta / Re: How is Activity calculated? on: December 12, 2013, 06:38:11 PM
Most people have more posts than activity, but my activity always catches up with my posts.  Huh

Quote
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

The info is stickied at the top of Meta and tells you all about ranks and coins etc: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0
