1961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't sell your precious BTC to the whales! on: July 13, 2022, 05:54:04 AM
There are just unexpected situations that happen where investors are forced to sell their Bitcoin for their personal use. Holding will be the best thing to do for now. As much as possible and as long as we could have more patience, it will be better to hold our Bitcoin so we'll make a profit when the market recovers or when the bull run approaches. It's the right season for buying and holding.

That's why it's been said many times that investment in bitcoin should be with the money which you do not need for daily usage. If you need to sell your bitcoins urgently for any need, it means that you have invested your day to day usage money in investments.

Two lopsided matches today - ENG vs IND and NZ vs IRE. India won by 10 wickets against England and New Zealand is on course for a massive win against Ireland. A little bit of wobble for New Zealand right now, after Henry Nicholls got out trying for an unwanted run. Overall, it was a bad day for the Europeans. And in case of Ireland, they are in bad position as far as the World Cup Super League is concerned. They needed at least one win from this series, and looks as if they will not get it. After this match they will just have 68 points from 20 matches.

Well, we all know that Ireland is the weakest team and they will lose against New Zealand. However, they still played well and scored 216 runs. New Zealand's chase is not good at all and they have lost 5 wickets with a score of 155 only. I would say that Ireland team has shown a very good performance regardless of the result.
In the other match, India crushed the England team and i would say it was one of the worst days in England cricket as they lost by 10 wickets.

It seems weird that you have decided to promote a 15 year old website on the forum right now.

I did not know that this is a 15 years old website. If the site is running for 15 full years, that means they are providing services for so many years and people also trust them?
There could be a reason the admin of the site did not know about bitcointalk before?
Anyways Lifetime 5% bonus is too much attractive for everyone.  Smiley

Open-source is better than closed-source, but only if the product is popular enough and sparks enough interest for independent code review. Trezor falls in that category. An open-source and brand-new piece of software that no one cares about is definitely not more secure due to the fact of being open-source. If you don't have people looking at the code and understanding what it does, it can still be malicious.

Think about it like this:

Open-source is a battle between good and bad.
Imagine a group of honest community members reviewing open-source code, but also imagine a group of hackers looking to steal crypto? Can they both review the code? Yes.
The honest group finds a vulnerability that can be exploited. They communicate their findings to to the owners, the devs update the code, and everyone is safer. Good job. The hackers find a vulnerability that can be exploited. They don't tell anyone, but instead take advantage of it. They end up stealing $5 million in crypto before the devs and the honest members of the community discover how they did it to patch their code.

Imagine the same scenario with a piece of closed-source software. Can hackers and honest code researchers inspect the code for vulnerabilities? No, they can't. The story ends there! The closed-source code can be excellent and unbreakable, and it can also be vulnerable to various types of manipulation. We just don't know. Only a small group of team members know what the code does, hackers and honest contributors can only discover vulnerabilities by chance since there is no code to read and inspect.

Honestly, i was making the opinion that open source wallets are better than the closed source ones (by reading the comments ), but your post again makes me left in the middle of no man's land as its now difficult to choose between the open source and closed source wallets Cool

Seeing it from your point of view and assuming the whole world is a hacker, in closed source wallets only the developers of that wallet can do any damage but with open source wallets, the whole world can search for the loophole and can take advantage of it Huh
1965  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 11, 2022, 08:04:11 AM
It is 496 for 7. Dinesh Chandimal is still at the crease with 151 runs. Sri Lanka will collect more than 550. As long as Chandimal is at the crease, Sri Lanka's innings will be longer. Already to take the lead of 133 runs. If Sri Lanka is able to take a 200-run lead, it will be a good collection for them. I wouldn’t be surprised if Australia lost the match. Because the performance of the Australian players in this series is not good.

Dinesh Chandimal not out on 153 while lead is now of 135, just two wickets left. If Dinesh Chandimal can take lead to 200 then it will be a real plus for Srilanka bowlers. Only Dinesh Chandimal is the recognised batsmen left so nothing can  be said about final total of Srilanka.
Chandimal have crossed 200 runs and he is on the crease with Rajitha.  Sri Lanka have reached 551 runs losing 9 wickets in 180 overs. Probably Sri Lanka seems to score 600 runs, and there is no chance of declare in my opinion. Somehow this match is going to end as a draw.

It's a pity for Srilanka that they batted so well against the mighty Australians but the match will end in a draw. Scoring 554 runs is a big achievement for a weak team like Srilanka. Dinesh Chandimal remained not out at 206. He could not get support at other end else we would have seen him breaking some of the records.
After their poor batting performance in the 1st test match, Srilanka showed a lot of progress and commitment in the current match.
1966  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 11, 2022, 06:25:24 AM
Maybe you should just bet first before leaving every time?  Grin I managed to bet on each set and was ready to bet on the fifth if Djokovic had not won in the fourth. The game schedule was known in advance and it was obvious that if you wanted to make special live bets you had to be at the computer  Smiley

Which sports betting site do you use to bet on tennis matches?

I wanted to place a bet on this game, but I had to leave and when I came back it was already on the 4th set, the odd was @1.40 for in case Djokovic wins the 4th set so I took a few minutes to think about whether or not to bet and then I went to the bathroom and when I came back the game was already over, this was the image I saw after I came back from the bathroom:

what makes me more angry is that I could have bet that he would win the 2nd and 3rd sets but I also had to leave and that's why I couldn't bet, I missed good opportunities to win money

Don't be angry if you missed any betting opportunity. In fact, after missing the bets, we say that we missed an opportunity because now we already know the result. Before that, the bet was not an opportunity, it was a risk that could have gone in either way, Win or Loss.
1967  Economy / Gambling / Re: The History Of Gambling. on: July 11, 2022, 06:03:28 AM
So with this history gambling is as old as human civilization and has predated so many centuries ago, thank goodness for the level of development that has undergone in the gambling industry.
but not thanks to what negative this gives to people , so yes there is a good effect and bad effect but for me? it is more of the negativity than what is the  opposite .
and what i wish for that the gambling did not ever be developed and started maybe the world is far good than what is it now.
Well, gambling is not as bad as some people think. Yes It has a negative effect to gamblers if they can't control themselves when they play. But the problem is not only gambling but more on the gambler itself for lacking of control. Plus everyone has a choice and we are the one who drive ourselves, hence if you have no discipline and not limiting yourself then it's likely for you to experience a problem if you decided to gamble.

Anyway it's interesting to know the history of gambling and how things developed as time goes by.
If people can control themselves when playing gambling, gambling will not make them lose a lot of money and they can enjoy various kinds of gambling games. But most people will forget their gambling goal is to have fun in their spare time and instead make gambling a place to make money. The discipline factor must be possessed by everyone who wants to play gambling and have fun so that they will not get into trouble, especially if they use more money to gamble. From the past until now, gambling has caused many problems for most people but people continue to play gambling because gambling can provide a temptation to get big money. And this gambling history will continue indefinitely.

Everyone knows that they need to be disciplined in gambling and do not have to be emotional while doing gamble. However, once we start to gamble, we forget everything, and our only focus is limited to only earning quick money. Greediness makes us lose in gambling because it's the greed due to which gamblers will lose their money and never win anything substantial from gambling.

I bought almost 1btc worth fun tokens yesterday, it was gone, but now I see them back in my account.

I've sent a couple PMs to thequin about the issue, now everything's ok as usual.
Thank you so much freebitco.in

Did you really bought 1 btc worth of fun tokens ? That's a big amount of money.
The price of fun token is very cheap now a days and if you can hold your fun tokens for few years, you can multiply your investment by 10x or even more.
You must be in deep stress seeing your token not appearing in your wallet  Roll Eyes
Anyways good to see that everything is sorted now.
Yes indeed, that was tough.
Thanks

Sorry I can't reply the other post, I'll sell them at 2 sats higher, then rebuy them at btc bullruns.

I don't understand this tactics. You mean that you will sell them only 2 sat above your buying price ? Do you know that you got the Fun token at a very cheap price and if you can hold, you can become a billionaire but selling at only 2 sat profit per fun token is just ridiculous.

Secondly, you say that you will rebuy them when btc will be in a bull run ? Why would you buy at that time when prices of all the coins will be much higher  Huh
1969  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 10, 2022, 03:27:38 PM
Kyrgios is always complains about something. This time it was some lady in crowd I think, did not get it completly since I was cooking lunch and watching on mobile at the time. Anyway, tennis players are really spoiled, can you imagine a football player taking penalty in world cup final and waiting until all supporters are quit and not taking pictures?

Haha, Kyrgios would ask the crowd to leave the stadium so that he can play with full concentration and silence.  Cheesy

I have a strong feeling that whoever won the first break point in this set, will win this set.
1970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 10, 2022, 02:52:10 PM
Yes, your prediction turned out to be correct. But I followed my strategy and already won back the loss. But by the way, Djokovic plays very badly, judging by the statistics - a lot of double faults and small winning percentages from the first / second serve. For now, I will see how things will develop in the third set and then I will make a bet.

Kyrgios is too much heated up here and he is distracted by something. This may turn out to be negative for him as when you are emotional, you may not play up to your level. Djokovic is composed not being affected by this environment.

Kyrgios is complaining that someone is distracting him from the crowd or something. Don't know what's happening  Huh
1971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 10, 2022, 02:13:48 PM
I bet on the victory of Djokovic in the first set,

You lost the first bet however i predicted that Djokovic will lose the first set and it happened exactly as thought. However hopefully Djokovic  will win the 2nd set and you boosted bet will recover your loss.

I am sure Djokovic will lose the first set,
1972  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 10, 2022, 10:03:06 AM
Nick can surely get at least one set, right?? A 3-0 Djoko series will be a boring final  Cry

When you have Djokovic in the final, then I do not see a 3-0 result. I am sure Djokovic will lose the first set, maybe he take more risk and lose the second set also.  Wink
By the way, if first two sets are won by Kyrgios, still bookmakers will not give good odds for Djokovic. Everyone believe that the winner will be Djokovic .

The resynching should be done in about an hour so anyone still seeing issues after that should clear your cache and reload.
Why haven't you told we why database crash? Is this a hacker attack? Or the hosting employee decided to steal all bitcoins?

Just relax and do not create a sort of panic. If you are not in the IT sector, then you may not be familiar with database crashes. There is no particular reason for a crash. A database can crash unexpectedly that's why we back up everything in case the mishaps happens, the data can be restored from the backup.

Good to see that FreeBitco was able to restore everything in quick time.  Smiley

I would like to know the best hardware wallet in terms of :-

1) Security

2) Compatibility

3) Ease of Use

4) Option to store X number of coins

5) Last but not the least; Price

6) Any important thing which I may have missed
1975  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 09, 2022, 07:16:08 PM
For both players today, it was the first final they ever reached in a Grand Slam tournament. Ons Jabeur started as the favorite in the final, she is also much higher than Rybakina. She is lucky that she is now playing for Kazakhstan, I have been told since 4 years. When it was 1-1 it could have gone either way, but Rybakina seemed to be fitter than Jabeur. But of course everyone is looking forward to tomorrow when Djokovic takes on sensation-seeker Kyrgios. Kyrgios has never won a Grand Slam.

Ons Jabeur is ranked at number 2 in the single women's tennis ranking while Rybakina was ranked at no. 23. So we can say that today's result was an upset. Rybakina showed a better game on the day and deserves the title.

Today bitcoin rose more than 6%, i hope to return to $30k soon in june and july can rise to $40k, of course we are tired of waiting for bitcoin prices that have not recovered, it's natural for many to panic and choose cut loss , but I will raise money to buy bitcoins before the price continues to rise.
Yes, bitcoin price is increasing gradually for people to start preparing how to make a good profits from their investment. Before the end of this month of July bitcoin price will move to $30 or $35k because the green light is preparing to remain stable through out of this month. It's never too late to buy Bitcoin because the price is still low for long term investors and short term investors to buy and wait for the price to go higher before they can sell to make a suitable profits.

It's really strange that when the bitcoin price pumps for a day or two, the hope of people rises too much that they start thinking of 30-40K  bitcoin price targets. Similarly, if bitcoin dumps a bit people start expecting 10K-12K.
In reality, bitcoin is moving in a range and I expect it to remain in this range for one or two months before breaking up or breaking down. Both these scenarios are possible.
1978  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 08, 2022, 03:24:41 PM
Another interesting point to consider is that one reason Djokovic can come back from 2 sets down so often is he is able to sustain top physical level for longer than most players, he can simply outlast almost everyone... and this is where he may finally meet his match in Norrie, who is also a master of endurance.

Yes, Djokovic lost the first two sets and managed to win the last match but this does not mean that it will happen every time.  At the moment, no one can conclude who will win this match.  However, Norrie, British professional tennis player, has a golden opportunity today. He is one set ahead and he needs to show the presence of mind and some skills to make history today.
1979  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Transfer from BRD on: July 08, 2022, 05:21:38 AM
Is there a threat the closed source wallets can be any time programmed to get the private keys / Seeds of our wallets
We don't know the source code, so we can't verify this kind of claims. We can only take the word of the developers. It is generally recommended to use open-source software, because source code being viewable by anyone means:

  • More developers are able to check the code, which, therefore, makes things work in a more efficient manner.
  • No belief to developers. Everyone can verify they're saying the truth without believing them.

But, especially for bitcoin wallets it is entirely against the ideology to use closed-source software.

So it is concluded that open source wallets are safer to use as compared to close source wallets.

But then hard wallet Ledger is closed source too. So it is recommended to use the Trezor hardware wallet instead of the ledger?  Why do people trust Ledger wallet even though it's closed source firmware?
1980  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 08, 2022, 04:56:38 AM

so, basically he said everything about faking the injury with this withdrawal

Kyrgios is lucky to be in the final, and I would not count him out completely, but this scenario is simply the best for Djokovic that could happen, from top4 players, two were out before the tournament and one withdrew due to injury and last year finalist withdrew due to Covid

Norrie will be down in three sets, probably, but still hoping to have at least @1.3 on Djokovic at one moment, to hedge outright

Why Kyrgios is lucky to be in the final? He played some very good matches and as Trofo already mentioned, against the top players he will always be even more motivated. Djokovic will probably win quite easily against Norrie and will be the favorite also in the final but Djokovic is far from unbeatable this year. We all know that Kyrgios has the talent to win a grand slam and this is a good chance for him to show that.

Everyone who reaches the Quarter finals, played good tennis and therefore reached this point. Kyrgios is lucky because he reached the finals without playing the semi finals. If Nadal was fit do you think Kyrgios would have any chance to beat Nadal in the semi final match? It would have been very difficult indeed.
Also, it makes Djokovic clear favorite to win the title.
