1981  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Value on: September 23, 2014, 03:18:19 AM
My opinion is that BTC value may be degraded as other crypto currencies take root
Fortunately for everyone holding Bitcoin, your opinion doesn't matter one lick. Read and learn:

1982  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Different Kind of Coins on: September 23, 2014, 03:16:43 AM
Could someone please put together a list of the "different" types of crypto currencies, for example we have POS, POW etc. Im confused to what each mean and how many there are, please provide a few examples of what coin falls into which category.
Thank You

There are only two categories of cryptocoins that matter.

1. Bitcoin
2. Not Bitcoin

Here's why: http://trilema.com/2014/the-woes-of-altcoin-or-why-there-is-no-such-thing-as-cryptocurrencies/

peter schiff is only interested in getting people to buy his gold, any way he can find a way to talk people out of fiat, shares, stocks or bitcoin.
Truth quoted above.
1984  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where are we? on: September 22, 2014, 04:36:34 PM

This is a bell curve. We are by mathematical definition well within the "innovator" portion of that curve, as less than 1% of the world's population currently uses Bitcoin.

I have marked 0.5% for you in red, to give you an idea of just how early we are in this game.

with DELL and paypal and other big names jumping in, we are at the Early Majority.
It turns out Bitcoin is not limited to use by American companies, but is in fact a global currency useable to all businesses and all people. You must consider the fraction of potential use cases, be scientific.
1985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: world governments on: September 22, 2014, 03:43:04 PM
That's not a danger at all. I seriously doubt any government will create their own decentralized digital currency on par with bitcoin.
It's more that if they did, who would adopt it? Localized controlled, probably pre-mined crypto vs. global decentralized original crypto.

A USA coin would be like Bing trying to overcome Google. Just not gonna happen, not in a million years.

1987  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Money? (and does bitcoin fit the criteria?) on: September 22, 2014, 03:33:31 PM
Bitcoin is money, because bitcoin rewrote the rules of money. The old definitions are no longer relevant. They are obsolete, just like the old forms of money. Throw them away.
1988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is going to die?? on: September 22, 2014, 03:31:10 PM
these days bitcoin  falls, is it going to die?
Yes, you better sell me all your bitcoins for $10 each! Hurry, act now!
1989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's brave/stupid enough to invest their life savings into Bitcoin? on: September 22, 2014, 03:29:26 AM
Still life-savings divested from fiat, still coasting at a cool 350%+ ROI in less than 18 months.

Hows your dollar treating you?
1990  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is BTC at $200 $300 $400 Cheap? on: September 22, 2014, 02:12:08 AM
I bought into Bitcoin around $130 and even now at $400 it seems way overpriced.

I bought in during the early stages of the rise to $1000. I think it's true value is under $200.

What do you think?
I think Bitcoin is a bargain at any fiat trading price. I think fiat scrip will soon be obsolete and therefore worthless.
1991  Economy / Speculation / Re: Midweek massacre coming? on: September 22, 2014, 02:06:33 AM

might buy in then
lol. Sure you will.

1993  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to be pegged to gold on: September 21, 2014, 09:00:28 PM
fiat like USD is an IOY which used to represent gold by being backed by gold. Now fiat is backed by a promise and the general consensus that it is worth something.
I feel it's important to mention that nation-state fiat is not just backed by a promise, but it's backed by a promise of legitimized violence.

That's the only reason it has continued to exist as long as it has (which is really not very long at all in historical terms, less than 100 years).
1994  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: was there this much Fud about the internet? on: September 21, 2014, 03:06:42 AM
The Internet did not challenge the banks and the tax taking government like bitcoin does.
Actually the internet was/is the beginning of the end of the nation-state. But most can't see that even now.

If they knew in 1990 what the internet would become, they would've murdered everyone involved and buried their bodies in shallow graves.
1995  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aren't Satoshi's coins a liability? on: September 21, 2014, 02:28:47 AM
Notch sold Mojang to Microsoft. Everyone has a price.
Satoshi != a videogame developer.

why dont the central banks pump bitcoin?
The same reason you don't feed a baby mountain lion, keep it in your home, raising it as a pet. You know that animal could one day eat you.

The banksters didn't become the temporary Masters of the Universe by being naive or stupid, you know. This thing is the end of them.
1997  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to $50,000 ? on: September 20, 2014, 05:01:43 PM
Answer: Someone putting a buy order of $500,000,000 for 50k$ a coin.
Seems legit
1998  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to $50,000 ? on: September 20, 2014, 04:54:51 PM
Bitcoin is up over 5% today. If it does that over the next year we will be at $50k.

Very likely considering the price trend over the past 24 hours.
I think it's a bit premature to be drawing conclusions about the beginning of a boom, but Bitcoin is clearly at the lowest end of it's price 2014 action, so it seems likely we'll move back up into the 550 - 700 range in the not too distant future.

I wouldn't be all that surprised to see 415 - 430 zone hold for awhile before we start moving back north though, if only because these past few months have probably left some investors fatigued.
1999  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to $50,000 ? on: September 20, 2014, 04:49:38 PM
I'm holding my BTC until a time when these fiat comparison threads no longer happen, because fiat no longer exists.

And I suspect this day will come sooner than most would imagine probable.

Hold out for ∞ $ / BTC.
