The separation of exchanges into two categories seems to already be starting because of KTC regulations. The most compliant exchanges require so much official paperwork that it's difficult to register at them. The other less scrupulous exchanges are easier to register at but are often accused of running fractional reserves because they are never audited.
bitfinex was audited a year or so ago by a trusted community member (it's about time to do it again). Just because an exchange doesn't do KYC/AML doesn't mean it can't (or shouldn't) be audited. We can have trustless exchanges right away. The code is written [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7277865]. Guess why we don't have it yet. Fractional Reserve and all information about the orderbook - this is heaven. The customer is failing to do his job. A tragedy of the commons?

if any of you were going to develop a cloud-based website with app for smart devices what platform and development software would you use? Conceptually, I know what I want but not sure what development software and tools to use.
depending on what you need natively on the device, a cordova-based framework like ionic could make sense. It allows to code in html5/js, so it's cheaper/easier to develop compared to making native apps for each target platform. Maybe also meteor might be an option. For editing files you can use a text editor like sublime textYou will have to think about the server and db infrastructure, too.

No comments on my piece? I think it was good If you mean the one the following excerpt is taken from, then yes: it was good, very good. I posit that the state is currently consuming most of the resources that could be used for production of services, for their myopic attempts of maintaining "full employment" by employing people in sectors that don't produce anything of value (or even negative value) - in the west the main ones are government bureaucracy, "welfare", "education", "healthcare" and war industry. If we got rid of these, up to 80% of the people would not need to work, yet the production would increase as the monopolies, regulations, etc. would be dissolved. The rich and the knowledgeable would get richer and enjoy life much more, but also the vast majority would see their living standard and especially quality of life improved greatly, after a transition period of course (it is not realistic to assume that a change of this magnitude could happen instantly and learnign to live in freedom will certainly be an inconvenient or even painful experience to many who are not used to it).
Some random thoughts: We are running into a psychological issue here: people are so used to thinking everyone needs to work 40 hours/week. It's really hard to overcome this. I'm trying to work less (goal for my day-job: 26 hours/week), but even though I'm one of 2 bosses and can basically choose my hours I'm feeling pressure. All kinds of pressure and from all kinds of people: customers, colleagues, friends, myself (guilty conscience). We're brainwashed to think that we need to work our asses off for society, family or whatever. It's such bullcrap: If everyone looks out for himself first, everyone is better off. If we could only stop helping others and harming ourselves all the time and instead help ourselves, we'd all be better off in aggregate: " first pull oxygen mask over mouth and breathe normally, then help others" Suggesting that people work too much in general and that it's not even necessary or even detrimental for production or - lo and behold - even suggesting some sort of basic income scheme or negative income tax is a taboo for many ("noone will work"). Even those agreeing to the sentiment rationally would probably still have huge problems living it. Well, I guess the following could work: - separate money and state
- watch uneccessary crap (regulatory burdens, bureaucracy, monopolies, subsidies, misallocations of capital,...) dissolve
- work less in more efficient free market capitalism

KenChanYu and Ltex taking some profits? Hope they both full their bags with more coins to keep the price above 15000.
No need to attribute the correction to specific people selling. It's just market behaviour. After the 6-fold increase, we corrected to fib level 61%. 80% might be in the cards (that'd be 0.00012), but I doubt it. Support is strong.

I haven't owned a toaster for 20 years and have no plans for getting one.
I'm sorry. But how can you live without a toaster?? Serious question! Some people don't understand how to live without a talking rice cooker. I put mine on mute. I figured out how to set it to beep-only. But now I miss the choo choo train sound it makes when steaming.

Block time? Confirmations? Block reward? Total coins? Premined 50% of total = 4.5 million, that makes 9 million but blockchain explorer says 12,136,949
where did you get 4.5 million premine? It was 10.5 million, I think. 5.344 million AUR got burned: http://explorer.auroracoin.eu/address/AURburnAURburnAURburnAURburn7eS4Rfrocananz summarized some numbers a while back, maybe that clears it up for you? I was curious how many coins from premine addresses will be destroyed, so i did the math We are talking about 5.344.627 AUR coins. This means that 15.655.373 AUR coins will ever be in circulation. From the 12.026.563AUR generated coins until present time, 1.000.000AUR from premine was moved to a new address belonging to the Auroracoin Foundation. Today the number of "owned" AUR coins are: 6.681.936AUR But if we subtract the 1.000.000 AUR coins belonging to the Auroracoin Foundation the number of "owned" AUR coins today is: 5.681.936AURThe number of coins that are going to be mined from now until the year 2140, when all the coins will be generated is 8.973.424AUR Correct me if i'm wrong

today saw some really strange price action on cryptsy: After days, maybe weeks of relatively sideways movement after the runup to 35k had corrected to around 25k, we've seen some downside action. This wasn't a 'normal' dump as we've seen some before. At least I experienced some strange selling behaviour some time after the big volume had subsided (7:00 to 11:00 in my screenshot). Around 18:00 today after work I had seen what had happened and placed some largish buy orders in the 22 or 23 range (don't remember exactly). Sell bot(s) immediately started eating into it in rapid (about 0.5 to 1.5 seconds apart) single trades ranging in quantity around 5 to 25 AUR each. These came in bursts of maybe 20 to 40 trades. Then a pause and then it would start again. After it had subsided (my order filled 2/3rds) I placed another order slightly higher and the same thing happened again. Maybe a misbehaving bot?

May I suggest to create another thread ''trading oriented'' ? I've been a daytrader myself - and enjoyed it a lot !
I saw the other one on Auroracoin forum, but btctalk is more accessible to me, so I made: [AUR] Auroracoin market observer

It was suggested in main Auroracoin thread to move discussion about trading, investing etc. to a seperate thread in order to keep that one more focused on development and things not regarding market price. I can understand why people are put off by others talking about profiting from a hype and all that, but keep in mind that 'investing', even 'gambling' fulfils a function. See post by Zangelbert Dingelback about the social role of the investorSo, feel free to - discuss AUR price / walls / dump / pumps
- discuss future value of AUR
- vent your emotions about price or other things
- discuss generally about aur / nationcoins / crypto / money / politics / society / science / religion / whatever...
please be civilized and truthful, thanks.

Hallo an alle Hamburger!

the plan is to lobby government to adopt auroracoin, this is an obvious target for the foundation
Not a chance. What government would want the accountability and responsibility that goes with operating in a non-inflating currency environment? A government with the pirate party in power, elections are next year, does the foundation have a plan for lobbying the pirate party to endorse auroracoin? Elections are 2017, there are no plans for lobbying . Our mission is educate, advertise and get a dialog/adoption going within the nation. Again why are you using this profile username? Personally, I think Auroracoin should stay out of politics. Parties accepting it is fine though. I agree. Crypto is aubout decentralization and "power to the people". Government is about centralization. The Auroracoin Foundation people are doing the right things imo.
