21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: December 13, 2013, 02:21:56 PM
On a side note, to all of the exciting software updates, it looks like someone put together a nice YACoin wikipedia page.  As of last week we still didn't have one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yacoin

It a good overview;  I'll try to add more detail to it this afternoon.  I thought I would share with it with the rest of you in case if anyone else wanted to add anything.  Smiley

Awesome!  That's one if the things I was going to get done with the promotion fund, so if anyone can take credit for this, I will send you some YAC's.
As I said on yacointalk, without media coverage and some "references"* this is wasted effords.
Untill we haven't a few articles on mainstream media we have better things to focus on. If someone really wants to write a wikipedia article go to yacoinwiki.tk

*by their standard hard to reach

I saw yacoin got a healthy upturn but because I can't mine yet are there any nice sites or faucets I can earn my first yacoin? I am going to buy some also on crypsy tomorrow too but wanted to earn my first yacoin. Smiley
Yes, there are many ways to get your first YAC:

Buying at excanges: (I think this is the best way)
bter.com
cryptsy.com

Mining:
Simple: A new (not official I think?) version of yacoin-qt that supports single CPU-mining)
Standard mining

If you want to work for it:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=300152.0 (Super Easy, you have to sign a message with your yac-wallet)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=293684.0 (Rewards for YAC Promotion)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=357144.0 (Hard,helping someone with a corrupted wallet 100YAC)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=311379.20 (Impossible, but as example what can be earned, already done by sairon)
Sairon made some serious YAC by bounties and I'd like to see some competition here.

or one of the many giveaway threads:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=336574.0;topicseen
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211053.0;topicseen(not mine, not sure if still working)
there is also one at yacointalk.tk

There are currently no faucets working, but I have planes to lauch on in a few weeks or so.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Yacoin Mining Still The Most Profitable! on: December 09, 2013, 06:21:18 PM
so great time to buy right now in my opinion!

Hard to tell.
It depends on how bitcoin will perform.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Innovative Alternative Crypto Currencies on: December 07, 2013, 11:18:33 PM
YAC is definitively missing here although it's real innovations are harder to spot than in other innovative cryptos.

Increasing memory requirement for mining over time and the PoS/PoW hybrid makes this the first crypto with properties more of a currency than a commodity.

How fast is the maximum transaction time? Everything above 20 seconds for a secure transaction is not a currency, since it has no chance to replace Visa/Paypal.
That's bullshit. (and no, YAC txt take far longer than 20sec to be save)

For bigger transactions it's usually irelevant if it takes 1hour or one day as long as it's safe. On most smaller payments and some bigger ones centralization works more efficient since no distributed sytem can ever be faster than a fast centralized one.

Requireing an ultrafast, ultrasecure and not centralized crypto is requiring a singe solution to problems that can be better solved with more than one solution. Requiering a farm animal to lay eggs, give milk and tasting like bacon is pointless since noone really needs it with farm animals aviable today. Even if it would exist people would still choose the best egg laying animal for eggs and the best tasting for bacon. It's impossible to be the best on all areas against specialized competition.

27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BOUNTY] YACoin Promotion Idea on: December 06, 2013, 04:54:18 AM
I think we should focus on miners and attract new people to mine YAC.

YAC is one of the most profitable cryptos to mine at the moment, but that's a message that isn't out yet. Sairon build a calculator for profitability, but it ain't a beauty and invisible for anyone outside YAC. It's also hard to use so a homepage that grabs the data and turns it into something more atractive would be a good start.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BOUNTY] YACoin Promotion Idea on: December 06, 2013, 04:08:08 AM
If you guys are interested, we could work together to get the message we'd all like to see about YAC out there.
Hell yeah!

This is exactly what YAC is missing at the moment. We already have good devs and a good crypto, but we lack community building and attention. With this YAC could soon be at a marcetcap where it should be, the current MC is still a fraction of what it should be if you compare it with altcoins like NVC,PPC,... with far worse properties but far bigger communities.

The current fund here is far too small to actually pay people for doing anything, it's meant as reward not as payment. On the other hand someone investing now in a excellent crypto without community and turning it into a excellent crypto with community will also turn his spare change into a fortune... if you know what I mean.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BOUNTY] YACoin Promotion Idea on: December 05, 2013, 02:04:55 AM
According to here http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/#jump-yac-btc that's more like $140 which is really  Shocked
It used to be just $140 ... (currently 360$)
If noone wants to collect this bounty we should wait a few weeks and hire some professionals!
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. START is now. on: December 05, 2013, 01:59:12 AM
does anyone know how many YAC will be minted total?

Many Thanks
It has POS (5% p.a.) so there is no limit in terms of total number of coins.
Since PoW rewards depend on difficulty it's hard to predict how much will be generated. As rule of thumb I'd say 10million/yr for the first years, but that's a wild guess and impossible to predict precise.

After finding that many signed but emty messages I checkt all previous non verifying posts
and found that myweblife's sig was actually valid of no message.

You signed the message "Gimme some YAC"+[ENTER] so it didn't verify at first.

New Rules:
No signature-->no coins
Wrong signature-->no coins

I'm tired of brute forcing every possible message by hand so if the message you said you signed didn't verify you get no coins.
If you made a mistake you can correct your mistake in a new post below, but I won't do it for you anymore. Payout depends on when you got it right. Editing your post without notice and complaining why I didn't send the coins in the first place will get you banned in all my giveaways.

32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: December 03, 2013, 07:57:20 PM
I'd like to help where I can. I don't have crazy amounts of time to give, but am prepared to do what I can to help push things forward. It would perhaps be good if we had a parallel thread to this one, in private, as there are initiatives that could be discussed to market and promote YAC that would be better off kept under wraps until necessary.
Is this already going on somewhere?
Unfortunately not, but we could make such section on yacointalk.
I'll talk to Obermensch what he thinks about this.

On the technical front, my strengths are definitely more rooted in websites and services than the development of the client itself. Devs are very cheaply available on oDesk etc though, so I wonder if we could somehow create a fund to help accelerate the technical development. It's just a thought, and would require some discussion and prioritizing of goals if we could figure out how to get it together.
Interresting.
Talk to Sairon and Joe about it.

If one of them would handle the funds I think we could get some donations for this.
Maby we could make the private thread readable for people that donated significantly to it so we don't have discussions about who's not in and why.
33  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When would you invest 10k$ ? on: December 03, 2013, 07:24:21 PM

10-20% of total investments is insane to buy bitcoins with.

Insane? Or genius? Wink
Definitively insane, but a maniak could also buy 10000 lottery tickes win millions ...

If you bought it far earlier and it grew to that percentage it's someting different.
Not saying that I wasn't that insane when I started to buy bitcoins though.  Cool
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Yacoin Mining Still The Most Profitable! on: December 03, 2013, 07:21:03 PM
I've been mining on some cloud services and my home machines.
Is even cloud mining YAC profitable now? Did you do some calculations?
35  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When would you invest 10k$ ? on: December 02, 2013, 11:08:34 PM
I would suggest the same. Look at it as bitcoin is your whole portfolio, where bitcoin is the moderate risk.  Put 90% in moderate risk and max 10% in high risk (altcoins)

But in the end, it is all extremely volatile. You either get rich, or lose all within 2 years. (I think)
also you should not make bitcoin more than 10-20% of your investments.. This is what you can afford to lose. Because, bitcoin is more uncertain in future then any other investments you can guess.

10-20% of total investments is insane to buy bitcoins with. Risk less than a few % at most and let it grow.
Once you saw a 10fold cash out double your intital investment and you are good to go. In a few years
you might be holdin a fortune or got your money back.

I belive a 10fold is still realistic from current prices, but after that I wouldn't speculate on it anymore.

Waiting for 1 more valid post to send the next txt.

No valid signature --> no coins
If you edit your old post make it clear you edited it and write a new post saying I should take a look at it.
I'm not reading thru the whole thread each time so I could easily miss it. Payout will be decided case by case.

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 01, 2013, 06:05:24 PM
Currently Nxt can be used by expecienced users only. So I created a picture by picture installation guide for windows, for people that really have no idea how to creat a launch.bat etc:

http://nxtcoin.blogspot.cz/2013/11/how-to-install-nxt-picture-by-picture.html
I hope you can make this easier this soon, it's still far too much work for the average user.

Is there an exchange trading Nxt yet?

Crazy growth, and still pretty much under the radar imo
Same goes with my giveaway threads, I just reduced it to 1$ for signing a message, but I still don't get many valid resposes.
I want to use these for voting later on so get your free coins.

Link is in my signature.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gimme some YAC on: November 30, 2013, 06:43:15 PM
Due to enourmous increase in value post* below here will get just 5YAC each.
It's still a very generous giveaway.

*EDIT: valid post of course, no sig--> no coins
