21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where would you prefer to watch your favorite team? on: April 24, 2024, 03:55:40 PM
I prefer to watch it at home, where I am comfortable. Go get some food and drink, then go watch it. Sometimes when I watch basketball games, I am the loud type of person who says things like "Go pass it there!" or "Shoot it!!" or anything that makes me feel like I am part of the team. With that, I can feel the enjoyment of watching the team. I really enjoy it, especially when they win, but if they lose, of course it is the other way around; it will make me sad and I will lose the energy for the day. But that's what makes watching your team more enjoyable, because you feel like you are part of the team.

Crazy game 2 between the Lakers and the Nuggets. Everyone thought the Lakers are gonna steal the game 2 as they lead 20 pts at some pt in the 3rd quarter, but the Nuggets didn't give up, was able to establish momentum in the 4th. Though they did not take the lead, but Murray just made a buzzer beater to beat the Lakers by 2 pts.
Man, it looks like the Lakers really stand no chance against the Nuggets. They have not won against them for 2 years straight now lol.
Davis was almost perfect in the 1st half but totally disappeared in the 2nd half.
It looks the Lakers' chance to win this series is by miracle lol.

That game is so crazy, it made me scream so much in the house that I did not eat for the entire day LOL. It is just very frustrating to see them lose in the worst possible way. If it was a close game, it would be fine for me, but they choked! They had a 20-point lead in the 3rd quarter, but after that, everything went downhill. They're questioning the officiating, saying that the game is fine, but still, they should've adjusted to the game and didn't let the calls affect them. After getting the 20-point lead, they get complacent and comfortable; they try to play slow always and want to burn the clock that much; also, there are some plays where it is always isolation and ends up a missed shot, and Nuggets will start the fast break and get the point. At this point, I really believe that coaching is one aspect that the Lakers front office should look into. It's always like that: the Lakers have a great first half, then lose it all in the second.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling A Hobby? on: April 22, 2024, 03:47:00 PM
Gambling, like other activities, can be viewed as a hobby by those who enjoy it. For many people, the game of chance, whether it is roulette, blackjack, or slots, provides entertainment and excitement. Just like someone who enjoys playing musical instruments, playing their favorite sports, or any creative activities like painting or even writing, gambling stimulates and provides a break from our everyday lives.

People who like gambling appreciate or like the thrill of risk-taking, the challenge of doubling their money, or having to analyze and have a strategy in certain games. People also enjoy the bond within the person who likes gambling, whether it be at a casino, a simple poker night at home, or even online.

But still, you need to be a wise gambler if you want this to be a hobby. You should set a limit on the money you are spending. All of our hobbies involve money, so in gambling too, you should better make a limit on it, know when to stop, and be aware of yourself if you are getting addicted.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 22, 2024, 03:15:54 PM

They almost lost to an 8th seeded team. This is where playoff experience comes to play.
We know that the Thunder are very inexperienced when it comes to playoffs. Both the players and the coach doesn't have that much experience compared to the Pelicans that has been in the playoffs for the past 2 years I think. Last minute decisions can change the game. If only Ingram and McCollum are more efficient in this game, they might steal Game 1 on the road TBH.

I think both of them being young and inexperienced teams in the playoffs makes this matchup more exciting. Thunder last made the playoffs in the 2019–20 season, where Chris Paul and Steven Adams are still on the team. On the other hand, the Pelicans last playoff appearance was in the 2021–22 season, and before that, 2017–18 was their last playoffs. With them battling each other on a playoff level, it is really exciting to see. When the playoffs come, it is 0-0, back to square one, so it doesn't really matter if you're a first seed or not; the important thing is to get the win every game. I hope this series will go to Game 7, so it will be worth watching. Pelicans, on the other hand, can really take over that game if Brandon Ingram gets going, but unfortunately, he has been in the Dorture Chamber and struggles to get some buckets on the first game. Looking forward to the next game, I hope it will be a close one again.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Double your money and quite on: April 19, 2024, 05:39:34 PM
In my end, my strategy is to reach a certain amount before I call it a day; for example, if I need to reach $100, then that is my goal. My technique is to bet small first just to get my confidence up, take it slow, and let the game go into you. When your confidence is up, then that is the time to bet small and a little bit large compared to your first few bets. Also, don't get eager to recover all the losses you had because it might be a problem if you keep on chasing and recovering all the losses, and if you keep chasing, you might get your bankroll emptied. So I just take my time and slowly get my goal for today, and then I am done. If I lose all my capital for the day, then I am done for the day too, so that is why I am taking things slowly so I won't get zeroed that fast.

Team USA has released their roster for the upcoming 2024 Olympics.

LeBron James
Stephen Curry
Kevin Durant
Joel Embiid
Devin Booker
Jayson Tatum
Anthony Davis
Tyrese Haliburton
Anthony Edwards
Jrue Holiday
Bam Adebayo
Kawhi Leonard

Who do you think should have been there?

I think Domantas Sabonis showed over the last two years that he’s an elite player. I wouldn’t have complained if he were on the team.

Domantas doesn't play for the US; he plays for Lithuania, a European team. Another notable player that played for that team is Jonas Valanciunas of the Pelicans, but yeah, having a Sabonis-type player on the US team is really a great help for the team. But I think most of the players included are deserving of being there. It is a combination of young and seasoned veterans, as well as a mixture of offense and defense, so I think this team is complete and ready to avenge the US in the Olympics. A player that I am questioning here is Embiid. I know that he is 30 and, of course, he also wants to win a gold medal in his career since it is a good accolade for him, but playing for the US? I mean, he's from Cameroon, so he should be representing that country. But with him living in the US for half of his life and having his son as an American citizen, I think it is fair to say that he is good at playing for the US.

The NBA has just announced a lifetime ban for player Jontay Porter from the Toronto Raptors for violating the league’s gaming rules. Jontay was apparently quite the gambler and while he claimed he never bet on his own games, the league still decided there was enough gambling to ban him forever. Tough break…

He really literally did the "bet on yourself" quote. It is sad for him as he faces a lifetime ban from the NBA. I wonder how he will manage this problem. First,  he is unemployed because he is banned from the NBA, and second, people might see him as an "addict," and his image might be ruined in public. If he ever tried to go pro in a different league, teams might won't sign him because of this scandal and judge him. Teams might think that he is manipulating his stats, so signing him is kind of a risk for them.

But realistically speaking, if I were him, I would abandon the gambling and focus on training and leveling up my game since getting into the NBA is not an easy road, so you should not be taking things lightly like you are just playing a game. I really don't see the reason why he would risk his career just to get some money from gambling.

Everyone needs to be healthy as this point, one superstar missing could be very big specially if Zion will not play. We can't compare Monk and Huerter missing, of course they are part of the bench, but it terms of impact, Zion could be a equivalent of Sabonis or Fox. Monk is their 6th man, so the bigger impact is that Zion missing the game. And it will be at the advantage of the Kings now. Sacramento is now the slight favorite as far as betting currently, at 1.8x against the Pels without Zion at 2.0x. Ingram is on limited minutes and CJ hasn't had that breakthrough game. Lakers is almost 3:1 underdog in game 1 against the Nuggets.
The problem with the Kings is they are not a good road team. We've seen them play so hard and well on their game against the Raptors but we can't expect the same scenario will happen versus the Pelicans. But honestly, it's really a huge loss for the Pelicans not having Zion, so I think the value goes to the Kings, take it early while the line hasn't move yet because I will.

Yeah, but then again, with a do or die game on the line, I would say that we should throw all this stats out of the window and just bet on the teams that likely will go on to win. And without Zion, who in their last games scored 40 or even 50 if he wasn't injured, it might be hard for a team to cover that huge gap in scoring.

It goes down again as this game is unpredictable, maybe there are Kings fans that are happy to see them have a great chance to win again even on the road against a very good team just because their main player is not going to play.
That is absolutely an advantage for the Kings. It increases their chances of winning. However, as you mentioned, games are unpredictable. There are games where teams with superstars less still manage to win against those with their superstars playing. I feel bad for Zion; he worked hard this season and made it to the 7th seed, but now his chances of playing in the playoffs have become slim again. Just when he is needed the most, here comes an injury.

Yep, very tough luck for the pelican. Early in the season, I thought this was their time to rise in the NBA. They beat some great-caliber teams, and they are in the middle to top of the standings and doing very well. Zion is playing well and healthy, Brandon Ingram is balling out too, and with the lead of veteran guard CJ McCollum and some great supporting casts on the team, I really thought that they got rid of the curse, but seeing how they turned out this postseason, losing two straight against the Lakers, and the worst part is losing their best player through injury.

Without Zion, it will be very hard for the Pelicans to win this last play-in game, with Brandon Ingram struggling and McCollum too. Against the Kings, they can still win it if those players I've mentioned get out of their slump and have awakened. Another thing to add is that it will be the Pelicans home court, so this can be an advantage for them since the Kings are that great on the road.

With the NBA Play-in starting tomorrow, what are your predictions? Especially in the west.

Lakers vs. Pelicans
I think this one will be just a replay of the last game of the season. Lakers won't slip this chance to get a guaranteed spot in the playoffs, even if facing Denver is the reward. Pelicans might make some adjustments since Ingram did have limited minutes last outing, and we can see to increase it this play-in game. We can also see some adjustments from Zion since he did not play well last game as he registered only 12 points. Lakers might lose this game if AD won't play (but most likely he will), if they play the way they did last meeting, and also if there is no Darvin Ham slander. Overall, the Lakers can win this game and look forward to the first round.

Kings vs. Warriors
This one will be a close matchup. Looking back at the last three games of these teams, the only lead of the winning team is a point, and their season head-to-head matchup is tied, with Warriors winning the first two games and Kings winning the last two. The Kings will be missing the service of Malik Monk and, on the other hand, Gary Payton III for the Warriors. Kings having the home advantage is an edge for them. This is really a close call, but I can see the Kings winning this one because this is just a one-game knockout, but if it is a series, I can see the Warriors winning.

Just as expected, the Lakers win the game against the Pelicans. The Kings beat the Warriors and kicked them out of the season.

For the eastern play-in, here are my predictions.

76ers vs. Heat
For this one, I can say that the 76ers are going to win this game since they are healthy. Even though Embiid is on GTD, I think he will still play since this game is important for them. 76ers are on the upper seed before Embiid gets injured, and with Embiid back, we can see them in their full form once again. Heat's hard work and grit can give a tough battle, but 76ers talent will win. Also, the Sixers are on an 8-game winning streak before the season ends, and it may continue in this play.

Hawks vs. Bulls
This one is kind of hard to predict since both of the teams are in the purgatory of the NBA, meaning that you don't know if they want to compete or tank since they have the talent to compete but the record says different and how they play. The Bulls have the lead in their season record against the Hawks. Hawks, on the other hand, have lost six straight before the season ends, so it will be hard for them to get momentum and win this game. Despite that, I think the Hawks will still win this one. They just recently got Trae in the rotation and are still adjusting in the past few days, and with this play-in game, it will be a different story now.

5 minutes left on Q4.

Safe to say congrats in advance to the Sacramento Kings. So in the first round of the playoffs, we'll see Thunders vs Kings.

Not yet; King needs to face and beat the Pelicans first before facing the Thunder. Looking at the game, the Pelicans hold the season record against the Kings with 5-0, and it is either a blowout win or a double-digit win. With this, I can see the Pelicans beating the Kings and securing the 8th seed if Zion is healthy. We know that late in the 4th, Zion injures himself and goes to the locker room, and it is a devastating point in the 4th because they have and can overturn the outcome of the game, but sadly, yes, Zion injures himself and the Lakers never looked back and get the victory.

If Zion is healthy, Ingram and McCollum play very well (they played poorly against the Lakers as Ingram got benched and McCollum shot poorly), and if they defend Fox and Sabonis very well, we can see the Pelicans win.
31  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: After losing the money in gambling, what is your strategy on: April 16, 2024, 04:38:57 PM
First of all, losing $2,000 on gambling is really a huge amount and also a dumb one. Why would you let yourself lose that amount of money in the first place? Didn't he think that earning that kind of money is hard? Then he will just waste it and let it go to gambling. The worst part of this is that they cannot pay rent, which is a necessary thing in order to live. Losing in gambling, he cannot pay rent since he is $2,000 down. With that much burden on your back, I think it is really hard to live the day every day since he has too many things to think about.

The best thing for him is to work and find a stable job so he can budget for all his needs and his gambling debt. Take things slowly because if he rushes things, problems might show up and it will be harder for him to continue, and please, if he can still change his mind, do not gamble using loan money. It will be much harder for him to recover if he also loses all the loan money. He is just digging his own grave with that kind of strategy.

What a big turn of events!
The Lakers won their game against the Pelicans so they take the 8th spot leaving the Kings and Warriors at the 9th and 10th seed. And so the Phoenix Suns will be entering the secured playoff spot at number 6.

https://x.com/wojespn/status/1779631893824327860

Kings versus Warriors will be fun to watch because of the rivalry. Then I think the Lakers will lose the game against the Pelicans so it might become Warriors versus Lakers for the 8th spot which will also be a fun game to watch.

How about the Miami Heat? The same position as last year and they took the Eastern Conference Championship despite being below the playoffs ranking.
But for now, they have to make sure they win the play-in tournaments first, or else they won't be repeating the same thing as in 2023.
This might be the most interesting playoff ranking that I have seen. 1, 2, and 3 of the West are in the close gap, 4, 5, 6, and 7 too, then 8, 9, and 10.
0.5 and above winning rate for 11 teams. Wow! I bet we will have a great playoff with Game 7's coming.
After seeing it it doesn't feel like it but what Miami did last year was almost a miracle. I don't think we can see something like that again.

Lakers's journey was also quite interesting IMO. The Lakers somehow managed to finish the season 8th. But what they won is the right to play denver in the 1st round if they beat the pelicans in one game. That denver swept the lakers in the western finals last year. That denver swept the lakers again in the regular season this year. The lakers lost all of their last 8 games against denver. I think the Lakers are seriously going to lose to the pelicans and try to beat the warriors-kings winner and match up with okc. But if they lose in the second play-in game while trying to do this, they will be humiliated. So it makes more sense to play denver. If they somehow eliminate denver, they will become legends. If not, it will be "they were not expected to beat".

Nah, I don't think the Lakers will risk playing a do-or-die game between either the Kings or the Warriors. Comparing them to the Pelicans, the Pelicans are a much easier team to beat, so it is better to win their first play-in rather than facing either the Kings, which AD hasn't won against Sabonis (he is 0-8 against Sabonis, btw), or the Warriors, who still have their power in them and might wake up anytime soon. If the reward for beating the Pelicans is facing Denver in the first round, then so be it; they're going to face them sooner in the playoffs, so it is much better to face them early when they still have fresh legs. I think that is one of the reasons why the Lakers got swept last season; all of them are tired from playing too many games, especially Lebron, and you can clearly see it in the last game of the WCF. Lakers also got new guards that can guard Murray, Vincent, and Dinwiddie, who can take the defensive assignment and DLo and reaves on the offense. If the Lakers manage to beat Denver in the first round, then it will be much easier to get that chip.
34  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Betting. Why the Distinction? on: April 14, 2024, 05:48:57 PM
Generally speaking, betting is the act of staking money on how something will turn out. This might be a reality TV show, an election, a horse race, or any sporting event. Typically, betting is making a prediction about a certain outcome and placing a financial wager on it.

However, the term "gambling" is broad and covers a wide range of activities. With a possibility of winning more money or doubling the amount they spend, people will stake money or other assets on a particular result. This can apply to certain games like slots, dice, or lottery, as well as casino games like roulette, poker, and blackjack.

Gambling encompasses a broader range of behaviors that also include risking money with unknown outcomes, but betting is a type of gambling since, as I've mentioned, it involves anticipating specific outcomes.
35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 14, 2024, 05:25:46 PM
As both Jazz and Blazers have no chance to move forward while against NO they are trying to avoid the play-in, they need to win but that's also the same thing that Lakers needs we will see if how the game will be played and which team will take the win.

That's why among the games tomorrow, this one is the most interesting game to watch.  Pelicans have an upper hand due to their homecourt advantage but the Lakers has been in this kind of situation many times, so I wouldn't be surprise if the Lakers will win since Pelicans is still missing the service of Brandon Ingram, while the Lakers will be playing in full force on the last game of the season. I would like to take chances here,  this game is very important for both but on the gamblers side, I think the underdog gives more value here so I'm betting on the moneyline for LA Lakers.

He is still questionable in the injury report, but a few days ago, it said that he'd play against the Lakers. But I think this game is important, so most likely he will play. Also, it is the Lakers, and players always want to play against them after being injured for a long time (LOL). But I think despite whether Ingram will be playing or not, the Lakers can still manage to get this win since both LeBron and Davis are playing, and this is also an important game for them. The Lakers also have the lead in their season matchup, 2-1. Another thing I want to add is that I think that they (the Lakers) want to bounce back from that horrible game against the Grizzlies. So we can see both teams giving their best in this game.

36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Simple mistake that makes you lose everything on: April 13, 2024, 05:37:55 PM
I always have this kind of mistake before way back when I’m still inexperienced gambler. A simple mistake such as not placing a bet on a round that result to massive win just because my screen glitch makes me tilted that resulted to lose focus and bust all my bankroll quickly due to risky bets.

There’s some instances that I’m already winning big on blackjack then one of my bet is a pair of 10 which I accidentally double down instead of stand while I place huge bet triggers me a lot that result to terrible loss.

I’m sure many players here experience this kind of minor mistakes that resulted to terrible outcome. Share your story and let’s have fun hearing it. I hope there’s no BS story…

Same here; I have the same experience, and it is very recent, like just last night I was playing Baccarat, and I have reached the point where I just need a few bets to reach my goal for the day, and I take a little rest so I can have a clear mind to play later. Then, after a few minutes, I tried playing again. My technique is to bet small every round and to look for a pattern, like if there are 4 players, then the 5th one should be a banker, something like that. So I kept on betting on player with a small amount, and I think it was 4 straight players, so I was thinking that the next should be banker, so I bet on banker. It is not that big, but compared to my bets on player, it is. Then, when the cards were out, they were still on the player, so I kept on betting on the banker until I lost all of my funds. If it turns out that the player wins nine straight, what are the odds that the player will win nine straight!?

It was really messed up because I was really close to my goal for the day and ended up losing it quick.

Quite interesting to see these 3 teams having exactly the same standings with only 2 games left. This could change anytime and we might not going to see the Lakers and the Warriors play against each other in the play-in tournament.
The Lakers might going to play against the Kings and it will not be a good match up for them as the Kings were undefeated against the Lakers in the last couple of years, and also Davis did not win against Sabonis his entire career. So, the Lakers are in huge trouble now.
The Warriors are also not in good hand against the Phoenix as they are 1-3 against them and only won the last game with only 1 point difference.
Well, things are getting interesting in the last 2 games for both the play-in teams and the top seed teams.

The best things that would happen to the Lakers are: first, New Orleans needs to win against the Warriors; they need to beat the Warriors so the Warriors will go down in the seeding. Next, Phoenix needs to beat the Sacramento Kings too, and with that, Sacramento will go down in the seeding. Lastly, the Lakers need to win all of the remaining games they had, which are the Pelicans and Grizzlies. The Grizzlies should be an easy win for them, and the and the Pelicans are 50-50 since Brandon Ingram will be suiting up (of course it's the Lakers LOL) after missing some games. But I think the Lakers can win this if they manage to set the tone early and are healthy.

With that, the Lakers will be the 8th seed, and they can escape either the Sacramento Kings or the Warriors since it will be 7th vs. 8th, and they should win their play-in so they can get the 7th seed and escape the Warriors and Kings. If they manage to manage the 7th seed, they can face either the Wolves or the Thunder in the first round.

Just as expected, the Warriors lost to the Pelicans 109-114, the Kings lost to the Suns 107-108, and the Lakers survived maybe one of the worst games of the season, 120-123 against the Lakers. Now, with the Lakers at the 8th seed, they have control of their own destiny. They just need to win the last game of their season against the Pelicans; with a win, they can guarantee the 8th seed, and if they lose, they will be at the 10th seed. This will be important for the Pelicans as well, as they need to win this game so they can secure the 6th seed and avoid the play-in, and with a loss, they will fall to the 7th seed.

Basically, if the Lakers win the game against the Pelicans, they will be facing each other again in the play-in for the 7th seed. So they will be facing each other twice (if the Lakers win the last game of the season).
38  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stopping the curse of losing streak? on: April 12, 2024, 04:27:25 PM
Yes, you are right. When we are gambling, especially when we are on a losing streak, our minds are a complete mess. All we want is to get back all the money we lost and get back on track. The more we do that, the more we lose money, and that's how the casinos want it to be; they want us to be more fixated on gambling and lose our minds.

Taking a step back and taking a break will help a lot because it will rest your mind and body. With that, you can control your emotions and think about what you can do next. Also, doing something else besides gambling will help you, like watching movies or something, playing some games, doing some household chores—anything that you can do that will take you away from gambling is also a big help.

Yes, the West are still very hotly contested and when we thought that a Lakers vs Warriors showdown could be happening, there are still some scenarios that will happen that will not make that event happen. So everyone should really try to win all the games remaining, and this could be the first season that we really appreciate what a play-in should be, teams fighting it out till the last game of the season. Only 1 games are separating this team, so most likely a 2 game winning streak will not be as bad. I know that you are a Warriors fans, and so it's good to see them back, the Klay and Curry hitting those 3's just like during their primes.

There’s a high chance that Lakers will be the opponent of GSW on the play in tournament since Kings has 3 remaining matches which is very manageable for them to win while Lakers have a scheduled match against Pelcs which is in need to win to secure their top 6 position while they have a very close standing before during their previous matches.

I don’t want to see Lakers vs GSW on playin tournament but it seems that it’s destined to happened given how the remaining matches of teams 6th to 10th are all manageable to all of them which means they will just stay on their current position.

The last time Lakers faced the Warriors in a play-in was in the 2020–21 season, when the Lakers were the 7th seed and the Warriors were the 8th seed. The Lakers took that game and got the 7th seed, and the Warriors got to play another game against the Grizzlies, but the Grizzlies beat them and snatched the 8th seed from the Warriors. Looking back, the Warriors that time were not at their best fit, and maybe one of their worst seasons in the Steph Curry era.

If they ever face each other again this season, this will be a great matchup and a history because both of their stars are chasing their 5th ring, so both of them are eager to get to the playoffs. Both teams have struggled this year, as we can see in their standings. I am rooting for the Lakers to win this one since they can become healthy once the play-in comes and they are more experienced in this kind of game.
