21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 17, 2018, 06:19:33 AM
Volume has quadrupled from the lows of 22 million the last few days for no appreciable reason, yet price remains bearish. Every time it starts to make a move up it stumbles.

Methinks people want to keep the price low and accumulate for now, then we'll see a big gain like december and January.. not necessarily that high but a good sized jump up

Great news  Grin Grin  binance_2017

CEO of @binance_2017, Changpeng Zhao on @TheCryptoLark:
"#NEM was on the list (...) we hadn't done it (list it) because hack happened. (...) I think pretty soon"
Ok, prepare for #XEMto be added to Binance!

Good find, this should be good news, hopefully will increase visibility and demand along with volume.

That stupid exchange hack couldn't have come at a worse time.
It seems like confidence in nem is at an all time low with an absolutely pathetic trade volume of 22 million. that's awful. There's coins ranked below 200 with that kind of volume.

I'm thinking we missed the boat with that last meteoric rise. There will be no wechat news or anything else to bump us up back to that level again. Barring some kind of major announcement/change we run a very real risk of slipping down into those 3bn marketcap coins, somewhere down past the 15s or 20s.

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 05, 2018, 04:44:38 PM
So when is Catapult going to be released (for public). It's been over a year now. Before 4k tps seems a lot, but now you hear 1 million tps  Grin i think NEM missed that boat. I'm still a believer, but having that hack is a sh***y PR that is not needed. We need catapult now. We hear NDA's are signed so no one can talk about what is being tested (i totally understand), Just curious to know how many company's signed NDA's, I want to know if there are actually a lot of companies trying out NEM Tech.

I don't think it will matter one bit with the market the way it is right now.
With btc dragging everything down NEM could announce some major partnership and it wouldn't amount to anything because of the overall market being in the toilet.

Best to wait until things improve and hopefully they can capitalize on the rebound.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 02, 2018, 10:25:06 PM
Nem has been absolutely hammered since reaching its ath a few weeks ago. Granted it shot up to 2 dollars too fast, but is worth barely a quarter of what it was worth a few short weeks ago. Being down 70+% is worrisome.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: January 27, 2018, 01:08:24 PM
To the people worried about fungibility, they need to remember that this blacklist via tagging is not centrally enforceable. It is an opt-in tool that exchanges can use to avoid stolen XEM at THEIR discretion.

If coins may be blacklisted, they are not fungible.   It has nothing to do with centralization, opt-in, or discretion.

There mere fact it is possible for anyone to blacklist coins proves the coins are not fungible.

Truly fungible coins cannot be blacklisted.  Look into the Monero literature for more details.

The ignorance displayed in your post is beyond believe. Let me try to clear this up for anyone that is about to believe this.

What they are doing is not actually blacklisting funds. They are writing a service that will automatically send a mosaic, which is what nem's on_chain assets are called, to every account that receives funds from the hacker. All that does is mark the account for other people so THEY can decide whether or not to accept those funds. It's basically like me saying I won't accept iCREBEAKERSs shitty monero because he's spreading FUD. That is my right and it has nothing to do with central authority.
All they are doing is helping others identify hacked funds, that's it. It is up to everyone to decide whether or not to accept them.
They are also not using any central authority to issue said mosaics. Anyone could write a similar service and do the exact same thing and it would again, be up to everyone to accept or not accept those funds.

So go spread your FUD somewhere else.

The guy sounds like a toolbag with an axe to grind. Maybe he was a sockpuppet holder and got outed, and he's super salty about it. Either that or he's just a mega monero fanboi and has a stop liking what i don't like attitude. Either way he comes across as a bitter idiot. I doubt anyone takes what he's saying seriously.

Lets say for the sake of argument it is determined that the exchange is at fault here, not nem.
Then what? No hard fork leaves a bunch of pissed off users... Forking leaves a bunch pissed off as well.

This is bad all the way around. In any case, we just took a big kick to the balls that will take forever to recover from, if ever.

The XEM wallet at bittrex is on "Automated Maintenance".
How do other (your) exchanges handle it? I'm just curious.
Are there estimates how long they will have their wallets on maintenance?

Bittrex wallet down now too? This is not good.. not good at all.

So the Weiss report on the top 20-30 coins will be released tomorrow. There may be some action or a shakeup in the top 10-20 depending on what it contains.
I know traditional stock market analysis probably doesn't mean much here to many, but to many investors who may be thinking of investing it may mean a whole lot.
Here's the announcement:

http://www.nasdaq.com/article/weiss-ratings-set-to-grade-cryptocurrencies-20180122-00161

RTTNews.com) - Weiss Ratings, an independent rating agency of financial institutions, said it will issue letter grades on cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin.

The rating is set to be released on January 24. The ratings would be based on a model that analyzes thousands of data points on each coin's technology, usage, and trading patterns, the agency said.

"Many cryptocurrencies are murky, overhyped and vulnerable to crashes. The market desperately needs the clarity that only robust, impartial ratings can provide," Weiss Ratings Founder Martin Weiss, said.

The agency plans to issue ratings for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Bitcoin Cash, Cardano, NEM, Litecoin, Stellar, EOS, IOTA, Dash, NEO, TRON, Monero, Bitcoin Gold and many others.

There are rumors that BTC and ETH won't get an A grade due to the amount of electricity they consume.
I wonder what they will rate nem as. This report may drive the market for the short term.

I think we get strong marks for being POS, and having a working product being tested with corporations in Japan (supposedly)
However the relative lack of volume and recent skyrocketing price increase may be knocks against it. This could help launch us to the moon or knock us down some.. it'll be interesting and kinda scary to see what they say.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: January 18, 2018, 02:34:29 PM
I remember when it was around 0.003 cents for quite a while at 30,000,000 Market Cap over a year ago, then when it went up to 5c in May 2017, I thought that was as high as it would go. I didn't envisage that it would go more than 40x higher by the end of the year.  Now I'm thinking the same way, I could be pleasantly surprised. from $1 to maybe 20 x - 40 x increase, by the end of the year.

I had .03 cents as my get out point, glad I ignored it and waited longer.
After sitting at under a cent for over a year I figured a few cents was all it could do.. I was mega wrong. Glad I didn't cash out at that time.

I think all nem needs is one big announcement, one big partnership with a bank or something to really get the wheels turning. Hope we get something soon though.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: January 10, 2018, 09:18:21 PM
So I was thinking about the wechat integration and reading on the chinese new year and red envelopes, and had an idea.

How hard would it be to either organize a drive or get nemofficial to start a "give nem for your red envelope gift this year" campaign kind of thing?
I would think it wouldn't take much but some tweets, blog posts, forum topics etc. It may help some of those 900 million users decide to give nem instead of traditional cash.
Which would serve 2 purposes: bring more $$ into the nem eco system and 2 more users for every gift, the giver who had to buy, and the receiver who will be watching and studying up on nem to see if their gift will appreciate in value/how to cash it out or spend on wechat things. If they make a few bucks on it it will help with positive press, help spread word of mouth, etc.

It could be framed as something like: Give them the gift of crypto currency etc etc, and it may give the receiver more than was originally sent if it gains in value... or something along those lines.

It would really be useful if there was a nem/cny pair on a major chinese exchange to make it easier on them to buy nem.. say binance or something similar.
What do you guys think? anyone care to float the idea to nem twitter/marketing group?
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: January 03, 2018, 09:45:39 PM
You believed in a coin because it was always on top 10 coins? Well that's a great way to value a cryptocurrency..

Yes it is. I would be much less inclined to trust something that had arrived in the top 20 or 50 one week ago. The chances are it might be gone one week later.
True, but NEM has been in that range for several years - it isn't a new project after all. Also, top X gives more visibility, which means people can do their homework and learn about the project. For example, there may be a great project today between top 300-400 but it would be very hard to find it if you're just looking at CMC.

...and all this with little to no marketing...

It's now marketing itself as it goes higher up the ranks.

Yup. Once it breaks into that rare air it will grab a lot of people's attention and will help sell itself now that it is in the big leagues.

I'm surprised this thread isn't blowing up right now, we're on a rocketship with the next stop being $2.00 and not much is being said about it here.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: January 02, 2018, 05:11:18 PM
can't believe I've buy 14.5milion Xem at 28 satoshi in 2015 and didn't hold it... basically lost an 15m$ opportunity ugh
OMG! I would rip all the hair on his head. it is good that I have almost nothing Grin

I think that is a situation where we all have been with XEM Cheesy (okay, maybe not with 15 million, but.. doh!)

With these recent rises I think a 10$ price is totally achievable this year.   I must admit that the current price was expected by me, but not this fast.  HODL guys!

Yeah, looking back in retrospect is allways terible! I wish i would have bough more when i initially found NEM.
I'm impressed by the current price, so i think 10$ is ambitious. I hope for 5$, but we need the volume to pick up a bit!

we need volume to pick up and the bottom of the market to not drop out before we really take off. Bitcoin is really struggling right now, even though it's still tops as far as market cap, adding more altcoin/fiat pairs at more exchanges will cause some serious problems for btc. People will be able to bypass it completely and will drive it's price down. It's only at 35% dominance now, which is pretty bad considering the large market caps of the top 10 coins, and especially #2, 3 and 4.

I agree that $10 is really ambitious.. $5 still seems pretty lofty. I hope we get some big announcement or a large exchange (coinbase) adding nem/usd pairs to really kick things into gear. I think 20 billion marketcap is not outside the realm of possibility, maybe even 25 billion.. by then we'd be sitting around $2.75, which would be absolutely huge
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: December 26, 2017, 04:39:41 AM
Great rise to $1, seems to be holding fairly steady. Nem keeps bumping its head on that invisible $1 ceiling. Starts to rise up then falls back down. Not much support over $1 apparently. Hopefully it can shake loose in the next month and step up to around $1.40 - $1.50. time will tell.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: December 18, 2017, 09:40:06 PM
Some yahoo frontpage news about nem:

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/3-cryptocurrencies-outperformed-ethereum-2017-163400068.html

here's the blurb on NEM:

NEM: up 14,000%

Though NEM, and its virtual currency XEM, are lesser known, the ninth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap has done particularly well in 2017 (up 14,000%)! Just shy of an all-time high, NEM's market cap is nearing $5 billion.

Similar to Ripple, the buzz with NEM is all about its blockchain and the ability to transfer money securely and efficiently. However, NEM appears to be broadening its reach beyond just enterprise clients. It's all about peer-to-peer payments and transfers, regardless of whether it's person-to-person or business-to-business. With the NEM Foundation based in Singapore, its partnerships have primarily been concentrated in Southeastern Asia.

Perhaps most notable was the September announcement of a partnership between NEM and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), a government-owned institution charged with managing digital infrastructure and security, and advising on technology-related laws in Malaysia. The MDEC also promotes relationships between high-tech businesses, meaning this partnership could lead to an abundance of Malaysian (and perhaps Southeast Asian) companies testing out NEM's blockchain and incorporating its token, the XEM.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: December 12, 2017, 03:51:14 PM
Great turn of events for holders, however the rate the whole market is rising at is unprecedented. I worry that too much money has flowed into crypto too fast, and we will see a huge pullback before nem has had a chance to really take off into moon territory, which would erase many of the gains we've made.

Not nems fault, everyone else's. 17k Bitcoin, $350+ litecoin, $800+ dash and $500+ ether is not sustainable imo. I wonder what things will look like in a month.
I hope the Chinese really use the hell out of nem in Feb to keep us from falling into the abyss.

Anyone know if the wechat availability will make it easy for the Chinese to directly purchase nem for yuan?
If not, and it seems like they can already send money with Chinese currency, what motivation do the Chinese have to use nem to do what they can already do with fiat?
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEM (XEM) - NEM has the first crypto wallet in WeChat! on: December 09, 2017, 01:12:04 AM
https://www.forbes.com/sites/quora/2017/06/20/is-wechat-pay-taking-over-alipay/#bad8e733a0b1

WeChat has close to 1 billion monthly active users. The WeChat mobile app is one of the largest (might be the largest)  payment apps in China. And now NEM wallet will be integrated into WeChat.

That seems like pretty nice exposure for NEM... any coins getting 900 million user eyeballs? LOL. Didn't think so. You selling your NEM for $0.65 and taking profits? HODL!

Wow.. since you put it that way it shines a new light on things. This is indeed huge news.. and it is sans catapult. I think we'll see a huge runup, bigger and faster than iota.. 900 million sets of eyes is quite a few.
Im super excited for what the next month will bring
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: December 06, 2017, 12:24:52 PM
So with this recent bull market nem has not really done much of anything, good or bad. It gains and loses a few cents here and there, but otherwise stays pretty stable. Meanwhile almost 200 BILLION has flowed into the crypto scene and it seems like every other coin has ridden the wave up EXCEPT nem. From #5 to the very real possibility of being #16 in the next day or two is a pretty big fall. It sucks that we weren't able to capitalize on this huge swing upward. When the inevitable downward turn for the overall market comes we're gonna be in even worse position than we were before.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: November 27, 2017, 01:48:49 PM
Coins marketcap going from 200bn to 300bn
and XEM is stable
WTF?HuhHuhHuhHuh

one month now XEM is at same price

Nem foundation selling bots is my opinion. There is a constant small wall soaking up any buys and is refilled 24/7.
They are spending a lot of money on their centers and wages etc. Where do you think they are getting it?
btw this theory is based solely on the poloniex order books as I haven't been following the other exchanges

I also thought that the price is manipulated very hard!, but I did not think by NEM itself 😀😀

That is just a speculation. I don't believe NEM foundation is involved with this.
Maybe all we need is just a little more patience for the next pump.

But it's a bit hard to believe that NEM currently is not going up as every other altcoin. And it's way undervalued currently, far under the ATH :/

It is very strange that the price is always stable at 0.20$ !? Can't see that on any other coin except Tether loool Cheesy
Maybe NEM is the new Tether Wink Cheesy

What are you talking about it's 0,22$ at the moment and it has been 0,16$ before.

It's risen and dipped here and there, but as a whole it has stayed remarkably close to .20 for quite awhile now. Even when it dips it goes back up to that level, just can't break through above it like most other top 10 alts have done. I have often wondered if this is due to manipulation or not. I guess there is nothing to do but wait and hope we can catch a wave or a big announcement to push us through this .20 barrier and get up into the 4 or 5 bn marketcap territory.. then from there hopefully the sky is the limit.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: November 19, 2017, 02:32:19 AM
I will admit to a bit of frustration as we watch non-functional vaporware platforms e.g., IOTA, NEO, skyrocket upward over the past week on non-news, while NEM/XEM languishes in neutral despite a steady stream of positive updates with substance. Now NEM seems destined to drift out of the top 10 marketcap, maybe even top 15 near term as heavily manipulated junk like HSR continue an inexplicable rise.

NEM has a three year jump on all the clown coins suddenly cropping up around it, and it shows, hell most of them struggle to even have a working, secure wallet for their user base.

Dude, EVERYTHING is heavily manipulated in the crypto world. It's the wild west.
I share your feelings tho, it's frustrating to watch all these other coins rocket upward and nem languishes and stays stagnant.
Those other coins have tons of hype and volume, which nem does not have due to the no mining aspect. So we have a coin that just sits around doing nothing really. The only movement is speculation and not much else. I think this coin can be huge, all it will take is one big announcement, like a major corporate partnership or something else.  However until that happens, this coin really serves no propose, much like every other crypto out there except Bitcoin.
We hope it will have real world use and practicality, but so far most everyone is stuck in neutral while trying to become the next bitcoin.
