21 Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S1 setup on: January 10, 2015, 09:16:08 AM
So I setup another network on my laptop just to see if the antminer's were connected. I was unable to see the antminers on the new network. For some reason the antminers are not connecting immediately after I connect them with an ethernet cord.

Also can antminers connect via wifi without an antenna?

No, that only for configure purpose. Once you can access the configuration page, you need to change the miner ip address.
What IP range is covered by your router? The Antminer needs to be set to a fixed IP in that range. If your router is at 192.168.1.1, then the Antminers can be at for example 192.168.1.91 and 192.168.1.92 (assuming that your router supports this range of addresses). If your router is at 10.0.0.1 and can cover 99 addresses then you'll need to set the fixed IP address to for example 10.0.0.91 and 10.0.0.92.
First you need to check your LAN/Router configuration, and select a couple of free, fixed addresses in the subnet supported by your router.
If you cannot find the antminer(s) on your LAN using the network scanning tools, you may use an 'isolated' PC, which is set to a fixed IP address (disable DHCP and set it to something in the range supported by the factory reset antminer, say 192.168.1.1). This PC is connected directly by cable (ideally a crossover cable, but most modern PC ethernet ports would cope with a 'straight' cable as well) just to one Antminer at a time. Power on both PC and antminer (they will not connect to the internet, just to one another). Enter the antminer IP address (if it was just factory reset, that would be 192.168.1.99, unless there is something else written on the sticker on the front) into your browser, and configure the antminer to the desired 'final' IP address. Do the same for the 2nd Antminer (but use the second free IP address in the final range that you need for your LAN).
Now change the PC configuration back to normal and connect the antminer(s) to your LAN. You should be able to log into your Antminer(s) now by entering the fixed IP address(es) that you set in the previous step.
If you followed the guides carefully you would have been mining already.

You may also think about the heat generated by the miners. This could be a 'bonus' if you use them to heat your place, but a nuisance if you need to operate an airconditioner or vents/fans to extract the heat.

23 Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S1 setup on: January 08, 2015, 09:44:32 AM
Hi all I'm a beginner to the mining setup and I have two Antminer S1's. I have all the hardware setup correctly but am having trouble starting the mining process. The only way I can get to the antminer setup page is to connect the miner via ethernet directly to my laptop. I don't know if I have correctly connected it to the internet. I setup my pool setting as instructed by the pool and after saving and applying my updated pool settings, I disconnect the ethernet cord from my laptop and plug it directly into the ethernet port I have at home.

The miners are not mining since from my mining pool page, the pool is not noticing any hashing from my miners. Does anyone have any suggestions how to setup these miners for a newbie? I have looked through various tutorials online and none of them were able to set them up. Also, how do I know if the miners are mining without refering to the mining pool page?

Thank you!
Check one of the S1 guides, such as Dogie's at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=355387.0, or Sushi's. You need to make sure that the 2 S1's are set for different IP addresses that are within the address space of your router. For example is your router sits at 192.168.1.1, set one S1 to 192.168.1.94 and the other to 192.168.1.95. The 2 addresses need to avoid any clashes with existing devices on your LAN. Once you've done this, you should be able to access the web gui of each antminer through your laptop while they are both connected to the LAN and internet. I prefer to set them as recommended to a fixed IP address and use a wired LAN, follow the guides if you absolutely have to do something different. Note that if you leave the IP address unchanged, they both default to 192.168.1.99, so if you have 2, there would be a clash and it won't work. Can you access the web gui when the antminers are connected to the LAN? What sort of display do you get? You may try running one at a time to confirm that it works by itself.
Note that S1 is probably obsolete as in most places it would consume more in electricity than generating in BTC.

5 antminer S1 units, cooled by a pair of Cougar 90cfm fans and running approx 460GH/430W (still working on tuning, 2 units are only running 70GH). Runs off a single CS650M

ps: temps are up around 60-65C, and the hardware seems fine with that. I plan to get it in a cooler location soon though to drop temps 5-10C
Looks great. Can you provide more info how it is setup: What controller, interconnections etc.? I have a bunch of S1 boards after and S1/S3 upgrade and am interested in getting some use of them.

How hot does it get? What does the Antminer web interface say? The PSU maybe going into thermal shutdown.
I had this happening sometimes on very hot days. After allowing the PSU to cool down it is back to normal.
If this is the cause, you may need better ventilation or cooling for your miner, or select a lower hash rate setting to reduce the temperature.

I've got bitcoin core running and in the debug window it details if its a incoming or outgoing connection and then a total of them both. Ill leave the machine going and see what it is saying then.

Just doing my contribution to the bitcoin network!! Cheesy

Mine just has the number of connections in the debug window and on the GUI. What does it say on the GUI for "active connections" ?
Running the latest QT 0.9.3 with the -disablewallet option on the command line brings a user interface window that shows the incoming and outgoing connections.

I fired up my newer client and do see the incoming/outgoing now. I would say it working correctly for your.

I don't know about your other question. I do think they are working on supporting multiple wallet.dat files I would think that would be similar to what your thinking, but they aren't there yet.

Just pointing out that the blockchain information doesn't have to reside at the 'default' location or even on the same PC that runs the node. This is a fully supported feature of Bitcoin Core. I'm running this now on an old laptop with a fairly small hard disk drive, that could not accommodate the full blockchain, so I copied it from one of my other PC's that runs a 'normal' client to a NAS (Network Attached Storage), mapped the path to the location on the NAS to a network drive on the PC running the node, and it works. It saved a lot of time of downloading the blockchain off the internet, but still took some time to verify the blocks by the node PC.

On another subject, if you already have Bitcoin Core running on another PC, you already have a copy of the blockchain. That can be copied to the PC used as a node, or you could place it somewhere on your network, such on a NAS, create a mapped drive on the node running PC and place something like
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -datadir=Z:\BitCoinData
(See https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory)

where Z:\BitCoinData is the path on your mapped drive (it needs also write permissions for your node PC, as it will update indexes and keep updating the blockchain).
This could be useful if your 'new' node PC has limited storage space on its local drive(s) (however you'll need to run both the NAS and the node PC together).

28 Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Please say where can buy cheapest rigs? (Electricity usage doesn't matter) on: December 30, 2014, 01:03:11 PM
I think the most important part of his question is how he is going to get free power using gravity and the ground with a few parts.

What kind of parts? Does this involve building a 100' tall induction coil?

thanks guys and no need to get all arguey but about the power thing since everybody needs power, below here's a link to the info, i would have typed it out but I'd have to go into grammar and all that

http://www.instructables.com/id/Electricity-generated-from-2-wires-stuck-into-the-/
good luck with that. You'll probably achieve some micro-hash/sec rate and become super rich.... Don't waste your time on buying the cheapest rig, until you actually generate some real power.

Can i get please information from few people how much is your awerage day profit with SP20 in pool mining?

I just want to hear some numbers from different user, no mater if they downclock or overclock, so beter profit to be recalculated for 1TH.
Please give data only for current diff and if possible say name of pool you use.

I need just awerage REAL numbers, i know what statistic is.

Thanks!

They earn about $6 per day before electricity costs.
https://alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator

Shure, but i want to see what is difference from small or big pools, how pool luck changes profit...
In the current difficulty level, at Slush's pool I'm getting about 0.01783 per day with about 1.4 TH. You can look up the pool luck in the pools thread.

okay its out is this 225amp max at a 208volt's max this is because of 225 Amp Main Breaker this puts it at 46.8 kw's here is a calc for it
http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/power-calculator.htm

put in the volts output of 208 and amps max is the main breaker of 225amps
hope this helps

edit its not 3 phase as no power factor is listed in spec
power factor has nothing to do with being 3 phase or 1 phase

Just upgraded 3 S3's to the antMiner_S320141219.bin (Checksum: 7df1b12d28b25e10aac37e2eafc7397b). It works with similar overall performance to the previous f/w version.

An ASIC miner block erupted. I have three usb miners
You can use cgminer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.0), or bfgminer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=877081.0).
Probably need a powered USB 2 hub.
Don't expect huge 'profit' from 3 block erupters, however you may enjoy the experience.
At this time, 3 BE's are likely to consume more electricity than the earning of BTC, so it is mostly for your learning experience and fun.
Note that your projected earnings are
BTC per day=24/(D*2^32/(H*1000000000)/3600)*R
Where:
D= Difficulty (now 40300030327)
H= Hash rate (GH/sec) (about 1 GH/sec for 3 BE's)
R= Reward per block (25 BTC)

So your expected daily BTC earning is about 1.24793E-05.

Wow... 0:03:06 - Round Duration on a new block. Is that a record? I love to see: Processing...

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet

I've seen like 46 seconds before on here.

I'm sure there is one faster than that.

Slush's block #21870 was solved in 29 seconds (and confirmed, 25 March 2014), we had a 4 sec block which was invalid.

Since I have been on slush never seen a lull long this. Current round duration: 1 day, 3:06:46. Has this happened before? Seems too long between rounds.

Edit: The lull just past. That was a long round. Glad it is over.
It happens sometimes, even on Slush. For example Slush block #22525 took 1 day and 4 hours (29 July 2014), block #21844 took 1 day and 53 minutes (19 Mar 2014), block # 22072
took 1 day 5 hours and 22 minutes (12 May 2014). But then there are the quick blocks that take just a few minutes...

Can someone help me?

I became today my Antminer S3.

i give him power and put lan cable insite.

then power on.

the fan works for 1-2 seconds, lan blinking red and green, then fan going out and the LED on the Lan is Blinking RED

i can not go on 196.168.1.99

i canīt see the miner in my fritzbox.

is not working:( what can i do?

I was having same problem with my miner. Your miner is not fully powered up.
Switch of the power supply & turn on after 5m, make sure your power supply is dedicate to this miner (i.e. one power supply for one miner)
Repeat the above step with a gap of 5m until your miner is fully powered up. If you succeed than set the frequency to s3+ default & reboot. Make sure your miner is powered up for 2 days. This will fix the problem, if not than change the power supply. Please let me know if it worked for you.

i try it, but now working Sad

THE PSN has now 530Watt
is a Thermaltake Hamburg 530W

u tell (i.e. one power supply for one miner)

is this only 1 PCI E to 1 Miner ?

and in witch plugin?

if i do 1 insite ( Right site front of Lan ) then the miner start but the lan is not flashing Sad

if i do the 2nd in the left plugin, the miner stops the lan blinking red >_<
You need at least 2 PCI-E power connections per miner, at least 1 on the left and 1 on the right (front/back is less important, but you HAVE to power both left and right sides). If you have 4 PCI-E connectors from your PSU, then use all of them.
Good luck!
39 Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: help with Antminer s1 from ebay on: October 25, 2014, 09:41:27 AM
Checkout one of the guides (Sushi's is at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344970.0 or Dogie's at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=355387) to get instructions how to reset the S1.
All the S1's that I used had a factory default IP of 192.168.1.99. If you can't see it on your network, it might be safer to start with a pc-S1 isolated, direct connection without the router/network (see the guides how to do that). There are also IP scanners (see the guides) that may assist you to find your S1 if it doesn't go to the factory default IP.

Good luck

As promised, quicker way to fix config page issue

1)Putty into S3
2)Paste the code in below.. Will replace Save&Apply with Save&Apply.

Code:
sed -i 's/Save\&Apply/Save\&Apply/g' /usr/lib/lua/luci/model/cbi/cgminer/cgminer.lua

Thanks for this. Just updated one of my Batch 1 S3s, applied the line above and everything works great!

One question, what values would/should/could be entered in that new 'Voltage' field for the S3? And what effect would these values have on the operation?
+1, tried it on one S3 and it works. Thanks Ustler!
It is also read correctly by AntMonitor.
I have the same question about the Voltage field - does it apply to S3 or is it in the same category as the support for 2 extra 'phantom' fans?

Cheers
