Well you have the correct frequency from what I saw on your screen shot, but as asked before, not sure why you are putting in the voltage, you can leave that blank for now. When the miner shuts down is the fan still turning on the power supply? HELP! My antminer S3+ will shutdown itself after 2minutes. any ideas? please help me Thanks advance and God Bless!!!!!

Somebody reported it worked. They have to take it down and figure out what they did wrong so that it won't happen again. Mediocrity for the WIN!

It had problems, so they withdrew it. At least they reinstated all the other f/w versions (that were removed yesterday) Cheers

HELP! My antminer S3+ will shutdown itself after 2minutes. any ideas? please help me Thanks advance and God Bless!!!!! If I am correct Corsair VS550 is not good for an Antminer S3. If I remember correctly both PCI 12 volt connectors are on one single cable. The cable gets too hot and the PSU does a thermal shutdown. You need to get a PSU with two separate cables so each PCI 12 volt input is fed by a different cable. The problem is not the Antminer S3, but the PSU. Make sure you get a PSU with two separate cable for PCI 12 volt power and the higher the wattage rating the better. Also get at least 80+ Bronze but Gold or Platinum is more better due to higher efficiency. And yes, once it is running change the pool settings asap. You are hashing free for Bitmain with those settings.

I totally agree. That is why for a 355 watt S3+ I bought a 700 watt 80+ PSU. Better to run them at 60% or below. Don't want PSU running full out. Will run hot and die an early death.

Just the bad one is removed.
All the firmware releases are clearly there if you look at the web page correctly. Posts 26 hours later, doesn't understand the concept of time and a dynamic universe. It really makes no difference what time I post. The simple fact is, you said the firmware had been removed. It clearly has not. Well, the firmware was actually removed from the site at some stage, just that it has now been re-uploaded (I guess when the latter Nov 2014 release was ready). It is just mind-boggling for bitmain to re-upload the clearly broken / buggy / useless fimware back into public domain. I just can not fathom any usefulness / value this has or can have for the user. For bitmain, of-course, this can spike sales for replacement boards when users have bricked their original ones. Both removed again. The problem is is there are many different hardware revisions, some of which are fine and some of which aren't on new firmwares. The S3 is in a difficult position for updates but they're trying. And now I'm about, dodgy versions should be removed a lot quicker.

Bitmain are simply too lax in this area rather than incompetent. But knowing the pace inherent in the bitcoin hardware space, they should have paid particular attention to tagging their boxes with the hardware versions .... but hindsight is a beautiful thing! Nevertheless, we demand a working replacement for the Oct firmware, be that generic to all HW revisions or specific to batch numbers (the latter will be hard to track for 2nd had rigs!). Even if it involves opening up the box to ascertain the HW revision, we demand a replacement working firmware!

Day 3 for me and I still have a S3 that can not hash as it doesn't display any hashing boards. I flashed the ROM with:
antMiner_S320140811.bin antMiner_S320140826.bin antMiner_S320141013.bin antMiner_S320141024.bin antMiner_S320141126.bin
I've also tried the reset option from the GUI (button doesn't work),

There were always two OCT versions but the 141013 version had problems, see page 379. This version did contain cgminer 4.6.1 version. The 141024 came out to fix that problem and to work with other browsers, but as I recall this one apparently introduced the reset button issue. Regardless CK's cgminer version for S3 units could be loaded on top of the current version, this can be found around page 375. Wish we could just get one that works.

The standard Antminer S3(+) fans (JDH1238B) do their job of cooling, but their noise level is evocative of a turbine rather than a high tech electronic device.
There is a fine replacement for them:
NOISEBLOCKER NB-eLoop B12-P
Just google it to find a nearby reseller.
It's much smaller (height 25mm instead of 37mm) but delivers nearly the same airflow — up to 132,4 m³/h.
The manufacturer states a life span of 120,000 hours and grants a 6 year (!) warranty, which completely backs up the relatively high price (about 20 bucks per fan).
Current measurements after 3 hours of full load hashing (Firmware from 2014-08-26, no shutdowns):
Fan Frequency Temp 1740 Hz 40 °C 1560 Hz 47 °C
Noise level: Barely hearable, per manufacturer well below 30dB. No comparison to the approximately 55+db fo the originals fans at full load.
No, I'm not an employee of Noiseblocker. I simply wanted to share my experiences with a fine peace of hardware that finally renders the Antminer into an equipment fitting any location, even a parlor.

I'm having the same problem - Is there any chance I could swap a control module from an S1, burn new firmware, and ... profit?
