FWIW here's how I see see it - 2 s4 and 1 s3 is about the same.  total that costs about 2200 delivered.  I pay less than you do for hosting, so how much you have committed to there is irrelevant.  But even if we take the price you committed to - likely close $86.23 per KW/month * 10.5 months * 2.88 per machine -- you would be at a value of the hosting of 2607 (most of us pay less than 10 cents per kw for electric).  Even with that factored in, I could buy a similar hardware for $2200 and pay the $2607 in hosting for the next 10.5 months and have what you are offering at $4807.  The true value of what you are offering is actually closer to what you paid in total - the btc value mined - hosting cost used.  and that's to someone who wants the machines hosted off site and understands that in a few months they will be buying new hardware, selling the outdated 100 sp30 on ebay or similar and buying replacement hardware to consume that power.

Almost no one I know is still running hardware they bought 1 year ago - save for some knc jupiters.

You want to bundle them 4 or so together.  Just shipped a 61lb box (25x17x14) for $25 east coast to east coast.  Anyone can get a decent UPS discount by creating an account and linking it to ebay.

lowes/home depot/uhaul boxes -- medium is 18x18x16 and large is 18x18x24.  Just an FYI... the medium is going to go dimensional weight of at least 32lbs, large is closer to 49lbs i think.   So plop those puppies inside and weigh it up.  or just tape 4 together in a cube.

If you have the original box... group 4 of them together, either inside of a medium sized moving box from lowes/home depot/uhaul.  Or just tape the boxes together in an OCD fashion that makes them feel like 1 box. 

We ship these things via UPS ground - and with an account -- not the overpriced ups store rate --- you can normally ship them pretty cheap.  50lbs coast to coast is typically 25$ or $30. 

So with this setup we would need to use pci-e to pci-e cables?  I have a bunch of bare lead ones, is crimping the plugs on easy enough?  Or just better offer to buy new ones already made up?  I guess I could always be lazy and butt splice two together to end up with a 100cm cable

$208 delivered is what they cost on the website last night when buying a block of 4.  The coupons are free all over, and even if you didn't get them, you can email bitmain and they will send them to you - see their twitter posts.  So that is basically 200+shipping within the usa (if you group them together in one box)

in regards to rentals.  I tried to use the standard stratum pool from leaserig, but the port 81 did.  It seemed to be a bit flakey - but likley entirely on leaserig's end.

Out of the 10 units we have running, there are a few bad chips/boards out of all of them, but nothing major.  We have the replacement boards to put in, just working on them one at a time.

power the boards
make sure each dip switch is set to a different id number (more info in dogie's asicminer tube info setup thread)
wire the 4 blades together using the 3pin wires
plug a 3pin wire into the uart1 spot on your BE controller.
in the be controller - 192.168.0.254:8000 by default - set the ip, etc of the controller.  Se the clock speed to closer to 240 or 230 for more apt to be stock perforamance.

If you use all 8 PCI-e plugs great, that's the best setup.  IF you only use 4 of them (1 per board) make sure the wires are 16ga and can supply at least 250w per plug, ideally 300w. or more.  Which is why ideally you want to have both plugs populated.

After you have it up and running run

I don't have an SP30 so I can't speak to it specifically.

so if it pulls 3000w = 14.42 amps @ 208v , 13.64 amps @ 220

Technically if you were to have a 30amp typical 208/220/240 circuit, you would be pushing the limit to put 2 SP30 on the same circuit.  Most suggest loading a circuit to no more than 80% capacity (i.e. 24amps on a 30amp circuit).   

The s2 is simple - mine typically draw like 1000-1100 watts - just plug them in.

You might want to see if you can add some circuits at your house or office.

$299 for 1/4 rack is comparable to what I paid in a greater NYC datacenter

Would it be better to run it in passthru proxy or standalone?  I've used it as standalone for some other pools before.  It worked pretty well.  Way easier than having 40 smaller miners opening their own connections.

I'm still going to see if I can mess with pointing everything to a local instance of Ckpool in proxy mode and see if that makes things smoother.

I tried pointing asicminer BE to a ckpool running proxy mode - and it would keep disconnecting, every minute or so.

Holy cow - I found a block.  That's a pretty cool feeling.  And it was from a Black Arrow Prospero X-3, I guess proving that 1TH miners still can find blocks.
