22  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase wallet address always changing :\ on: November 02, 2017, 01:32:57 PM
So I want to request an ETH payment from a site were I have put the wallet address a month ago.

Today when I request the ETH address again to compare if is everything is ok I notice that today's address is different than the other I got a month ago!

Is this normal? Can I request the payment or I have to edit the address?

This is done for security, re-using address is slightly dangerous. Though you can still re-use your old address. Once the address is generated, it's yours to use permanently.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My 387 Bitcoins got hacked and stolen! on: October 30, 2017, 01:04:34 PM
Why do you create address at another place, and then import private key into BCI wallet? that's risky as fuck. There's a reason BCI wallet no longer even provide private key, instead you have to import entire wallet locally to access private key, because it's not secure to display private key over the web.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Theory: Satoshi Nakamoto is DPR (Ross Ulbricht silkroad founder) on: September 25, 2017, 04:38:12 AM
It seems pretty obvious at this point that satoshi is not a single dude. much like vitalik recently communicated, designing something like this requires expertise in multiple disciplines of study. this is way more than just economics, its more than programming too. it incorporates some civics, and a little philosophy. i dont think a single guy named satoshi, or even a guy that took the handle, would be able to accomplish something this nuanced. i do think the original idea, in a very basic form, might have been fleshed out by a single guy.

but even then, if it had to go through development by a team, at what point does it grow beyond the prototype into a new thing?

The original satoshi client code was clearly written by one person, the coding style consistency, with all the same mistakes, is clear as day to any seasoned programmer.

Satoshi didn't invent all these by himself though, he was standing on the shoulder of giants. He was heavily influenced by Adam Back and Wei Dai's earlier work. He basically combined Adam Back and Wei Dai's work together, and added a little bit of his own flavour(the blockchain).
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Theory: Satoshi Nakamoto is DPR (Ross Ulbricht silkroad founder) on: September 22, 2017, 01:30:42 AM
Today I was reading some theories about who is Satoshi Nakamoto, and it came to me, that DPR (Ross Ulbricht, founder of Silkroad) is Satoshi Nakamoto

Most people can agree that Satoshi:
* is American
* is a skilled programmer
* knows a lot about cryptography and economics

Guess what, DPR studied economics extensively in college, and we all know DPR can code and have a keen interest in cryptography.

The biggest hint is the perfectly lined up timeline:
The last time Satoshi was involved in Bitcoin was around January 2011, Silkroad launched in February 2011. So if DPR was Satoshi, this would explain why Satoshi suddenly backed off from the Bitcoin development, he was too busy developing and running Silkroad!

Then I digged a little more and found:
DPR moved 1000 BTC that was mined in January 2009, which can only belong to Satoshi or Hal Finney. We know Hal Finney isn't DPR, so there's only one possibility left.

Also this would explain why after DPR was arrested, Satoshi's Bitcoins were never sold or moved, Satoshi himself never showed up anywhere. Because DPR lost his freedom and is rotting in a prison cell.

DPR (Ross Ulbricht) is Satoshi Nakamoto, he was arrested and sentenced to life in prison not just for running Silkroad, it is for something much more.
26  Economy / Speculation / Re: Atomic chain swap between btc and ltc on: September 02, 2017, 12:13:05 AM
But what affect will it have on the price you saying 25% of bitcoin price that is 1200 and litecoin is not even 100$ so how will this even swap help the price increase the trading volumes of litecoin is not too high and this will only help exchanging so no price increase will even occur. In long term it might help when all trusted exchanges will turn into a scam

Exchanges have really no say in the matter, once users realize LTC = BTC in acceptance and utility, users will flock to LTC because LTC = BTC, but currently is cheaper than BTC, much cheaper.
27  Economy / Speculation / Re: Atomic chain swap between btc and ltc on: September 01, 2017, 03:54:00 PM
If I get this correctly, it then means that I can just send my ltc to my btc wallet and it will appear as btc but at the currently prevailing rate which then means that there won't be any thing like mistakenly sending ltc to btc address? But the issue what will be the conversion rate?

Because at that point, LTC's acceptance/utility would be exactly the same as Bitcoin, actually it might be better since LTC has faster blocks. So my logic says, LTC will achieve conversion rate of 25% of BTC at some point in the future.

Also, once LTC utility become = BTC, LTC might become immensely popular with the general public as it won't be as expensive as Bitcoin to "buy 1 whole coin".
28  Economy / Speculation / Re: Atomic chain swap between btc and ltc on: September 01, 2017, 02:42:46 PM
Well guys, looks like LTC is going up more, I still believe chain swap potential is the main driver. This is not just a pump, but real increase in LTC value because LTC has gained 1000x acceptance overnight, basically LTC=BTC now.
29  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex: Still safe ? on: August 30, 2017, 05:47:59 PM
Polo is still usable if you don't need any support. But my support ticket has gone un-answered for months, not good sign for a healthy exchange, at least it shows their support system is not well managed, if support is not well managed, makes you wonder what other issues there might be. I would not recommend polo for anything major. I avoided mtgox, btc-e with no loss, because I can read and act on early signs of problem.

30  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Colonising Planets on: August 30, 2017, 05:43:53 PM
It can happen given time of course, but not any time soon. The technology simply isn't there. Need probably another 500 years minimum of development before it can become a remote possibility.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] ⚡ DeepOnion TOR Integrated ⚡ No ICO 🚀 FREE Airdrops 🚀 7th of 40 Rounds on: August 29, 2017, 04:47:41 PM
something i don't get it,Onion coin circulating supply should be more than 18 millions, but why it only shows about 3 millions?

I think coinmarketcap only counts "publicly circulating supply". Basically, it's to prevent for example if I release a coin that has 21 million coin, and then only circulate 10 coin, I sell each coin for $100, and someone buys/trades them. Suddenly my marketcap is over 2 Billion USD, that's pretty ridiculous. So coinmarketcap would only consider the marketcap in such scenario to be $1000
32  Economy / Speculation / Re: If price of BTC reach 50K who is going to buy? on: August 28, 2017, 12:06:10 AM
The same type of people buying at $5000. No one thought Bitcoin can go to $5000 in 2010 or 2011, but here we are. $50k is not unreachable at all, that's around Apple Inc level of market cap.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will you do? on: August 27, 2017, 11:15:43 PM
Depends on how cheap, if it goes to around $1000, that's normal. If it goes to $100, something is seriously wrong, and you are probably throwing money away if you buy.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your most innovative coin below $50m mcap ? on: August 27, 2017, 11:11:22 PM
I would say DeepOnion, the distribution method is certainly innovative, TOR integration is great and roadmap seem promising.
35  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Proof of Stake Bitcoin? on: August 27, 2017, 07:59:28 PM
That is too deep of a coding change and I don't even think that can be pulled off as a fork. If you were really interested in creating this type of system then what you could do is create your own website, back it with a huge chunk of change add offer the service of a savings account for Bitcoin.

Coding is not the problem, it's difficult and time consuming, sure, but it can be done.

The issue is of course the incumbent culture and the group of developers of Bitcoin will not easily agree to even a hint of PoS. Hell it took over a year and multiple forks, and still not agree to a simple block size increase. Proof of Stake in Bitcoin? not until the heat death of the universe.
36  Economy / Speculation / Re: Atomic chain swap between btc and ltc on: August 27, 2017, 05:27:53 PM
hmm interesting, after I made this post yesterday, LTC price went up over 20%, I think people are starting to realize with atomic chain swap, BTC=LTC, LTC gained probably 1000X more acceptance overnight, and price should be adjusted accordingly. There's really no difference between BTC vs LTC now, if you hold LTC, you can spend it at anywhere BTC is accepted, this is huge for LTC.
37  Economy / Speculation / Atomic chain swap between btc and ltc on: August 27, 2017, 04:42:26 AM
The newly implemented atomic chain swap between btc and ltc means basically ltc = btc in terms of usage right? Anywhere that accept btc, I could just use ltc and it gets auto swapped to btc.

So I'm thinking since ltc=btc now, shouldn't ltc price actually become 25% of btc price given that ltc max cap is 4x of btc?
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ICO a new form of HYIP ? (High Yield Investment Program) on: August 27, 2017, 04:35:23 AM
For me personally, it depend on who is behind the ICO.

If it is someone with a proven track record, like Vitalik Buterin or Dan Larimer running a new ICO, I don't really question it much, I will invest in it without problem.

But if it is some no name person running a new ICO, then I would need the following:
* real identity of team members
* show me a working prototype of product or proof of concept
* show me how the ICO token will be used, eg. how would my investment be rewarded, why would the token become valuable

I think as long as you exercise caution, you won't be scammed.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] ⚡ DeepOnion TOR Integrated ⚡ No ICO 🚀 FREE Airdrops 🚀 7th of 40 Rounds on: August 27, 2017, 12:00:00 AM
For what is people gonna use Deeponion? Buying child porn, drugs, weapons or even wurst? I don't want to insult anybody but if this coin is so anonymous and also connected to the deep web! Is it not gonna attract a lot of criminals?

I really want to know guys?

I have nothing to hide doesn't mean I don't want my privacy. Privacy is a right, and if you are in the US, it is guaranteed by the 4th amendment of US constitution.

"I have nothing to hide so I don't need privacy" is exactly the kind of logic governments want you to have. Government inherently hate privacy. The US constitution is basically a list of things that the founding fathers knew governments would hate and will want to take away from its citizens, therefore they wrote them into the constitution, to make it hard to take away.

"Criminals would use xxx" is not an excuse to ban xxx if xxx has legitimate use for lawful purpose.
40  Other / Meta / Re: Is Sig Spamming related to the grade of stupidity of the answers at Bitcointalk? on: August 26, 2017, 01:49:23 AM
I noticed too in recent years the quality of the posts and replies is simply 90% trash. I sometime join sig campaigns, but it does not affect my post quality because I enjoy writing long and thoughtful replies.

Mods should seriously step up their game in removing one liner post/replies. Better yet, implement a "character minimum" on posts, and mods should aggressively ban people for cheating the minimum. Bans of 1-2 weeks should be handed out pretty regularly.

I'm thinking, an average of your past 10 posts, should be higher than 50 characters. So this will allow occasional one liner, but not constant stream of one liners.
