Are they right about cloudhashing.com? From what I can see they just sell mining rigs, weird.
Yeah, that part didn't make any sense to me either. But even her website has the Cloud Hashing reference. The CloudHashing website just shows....well...cloud hashing. Nothing about BitPay-like payment services. Hmm..... I say Mel B just got her website hacked CosbyCoin style and some journalist fell for it. Tweets or it didn't happen.

Great video. I like this media angle. No mention of the price. "It's a movement"..."There's a community"..."It's fun"..."I'm into it" That's priceless PR. Oh and related self-plug for my 12 days of Christmas lyrics from last year: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133148Someone on twitter send Matt the link; it would be hilarious if they sang it (or an improvement) on air. (Side note: how did I not think to call it 12 days of bitcoin!?)

Apparently M-PESA started accepting bitcoin directly, not seen any details yet though.
I too heard that mentioned in the senate hearings and raised an eyebrow. Can't remember which one of the witnesses said it. I'm treating it as a misunderstanding for now. If it was true I think it would have made bigger waves in the community.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/101200996Reporting from the ongoing Singapore bitcoin conference: "There are two things affecting bitcoin in China," Linke Yang, co-founder and vice president of BTC China – the world's largest bitcoin exchange by volume – told CNBC on the sidelines of the conference.
"One is that there are a lot of [bitcoin] miners in China," Yang said, referring to those participating in the process of adding transaction records to bitcoin's public ledger and who can earn bitcoins for their efforts.
"The second is that, traditionally, high net-worth individuals and investors first go to the property market to invest and then the stock market, but since the property market is capped and controlled and stocks maybe aren't doing so well that's changing," Yang said. "After we had the China Central Television piece [on bitcoin in March] people here know about bitcoin and are putting their money into it."

http://www.businessinsider.com/guys-made-3m-from-bitcoin-craze-2013-11Profile on KnCMiner. From November 7 to 10, 2013, while Bitcoin prices were climbing wildly, Stockholm-based KnCMiner sold out of its newest Bitcoin computer, selling 5,000 units. These computers cost $7.000 a piece (and yes, they take Bitcoin as payment).
At one point, the computers were selling so fast that KnCMiner generated $600,000 in less than five minutes, it said.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-10-07/ripple-takes-on-western-union-with-deal-to-grow-payments.htmlRipple Labs Inc. is expanding the distribution of its digital currency and money-transfer software through an agreement with cash-transaction network ZipZap Inc., signaling the growth of alternative payment methods. Ripple, a San Francisco-based startup, operates payments software and a digital currency that resides in a consumer’s account known as a Ripple Wallet. Under the agreement, Ripple will let consumers link those Wallets to ZipZap accounts. San Francisco-based ZipZap -- which has payment centers across the U.S. in locations such as CVS Caremark Corp. (CVS) pharmacies and hotels -- can then send a payment that someone makes through their Ripple Wallet to a recipient elsewhere who also has the software. The media is going to have an uphill battle trying to explain the ripple network in one sentence or so. Example: Ripple issues a virtual currency known as Ripples, of which it holds a 25 percent slice. Each Ripple Wallet has to hold at least 50 Ripples -- which people pay for using currencies from U.S. dollars to Japanese yen to Bitcoins -- to function. The company’s virtual currency and payments software are intended to make it easy for people to exchange money, loyalty points or airline miles for another currency. New user confused much?

[paywalled] http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/opinion/columnists/hugorifkind/article3889234.eceThe ‘pirates’ behind the Silk Road website are deluded if they think they are standing up for freedom Look, if I were a multi- millionaire online drug dealer, I’d probably pretend it was all about the politics, too. Of a morning, in the bathroom, I just think it would make it a little easier to look at myself in the mirror. Page 25 (opinion section) of the print edition.

Great Idea.
WHSmith has these in the UK for 29GBP.
I own one, It's the lightest reading device out there plus it fits in a jeans back pocket unlike a Kindle.

Search for the video: 'United Colors of Bitcoin'.
I hadn't heard of that one so I looked it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6sOFXHlhuThat's the driest bitcoin primer out there. I would recommend it to anyone with insomnia, but probably not the best first impression if you're hoping to get people excited about bitcoin.
